Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Ray Brooks will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Mayflower Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. George Rice of Growing Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home.
Mr. Brooks was born to the late Mr. Oria and Carrie Dudley Brooks. He joined Growing Valley Baptist Church at an early age, under the leadership of the Rev. Jessie Dixon.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jessie Clark Brooks; daughter, Kemitha Brooks of Minden; son, Johnnie Brooks Sr. of Minden; David Clark and wife Hope, Richard Clark, Armond Clark of Minden and Tracy Clark of Florida; sisters, Alice Tyson of Minden and Ida Jackson and husband A.B. of Dallas, Texas ; brothers, Oria Brooks and wife Willie Mae of Minden and Rawlin Brooks of Dallas; maternal aunt, Bernice Dudley of Minden; sisters-in-law, Emma Gill and husband Johnny and Mary Williams of Minden; brothers-in-law, the Rev. Emmitt Clark and wife Patricia, Glenn Clark and James Clark and wife Mary; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Florine Buckley
Funeral services for Mrs. Florine Buckley, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Webster Memorial CME with the Rev. Jessie Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Buckley, a native of Minden and a resident of Town and Country Health and Rehab, Passed away at Minden Medical Center.
On behalf of the family of Mrs. Buckley, sister of Mignon Carter, we would like to thank the staff of Willis-Knighton Hospital, Minden Medical Center Emergency Room, Dr. Stell and Dr. Pistorius for all of their loving care. We would also like to express our deep appreciation for Town and Country Health and Rehab. Mr. Ledig, Ms. Jacobs, the nurses and aides were so kind. We would like to thank the staff of Pafford Emergency Services for the excellent care they provided.

Helen Drake
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Jackson Drake will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Valley Peace Baptist Church in Cotton Valley. Burial will follow at Wesley Grove Cemetery in Cotton Valley under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Drake was born June 30, 1944, and was the first daughter of six children born to Nolan and Ida Jackson . She grew up and spent her entire childhood in Cotton Valley. At an early age, she joined Valley Peace Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, singing in the choir, serving as an usher and director of the youth group of the church.
After graduating from Charles Brown High School, she attended Grambling State University where she met and married Ernest Drake. They had two children, a daughter and son.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Jackson ; brother, Londell Jackson and her son, Jarrod Drake.
She is survived by her father, Nolan Jackson , who resides at Meadowview Health and Rehab in Minden; daughter, Cassandra Gayle Drake of Topeka, Kan.; granddaughter, Kenyatta Lewis of Springhill; grandson, Joe Christen Drake of Dallas, Texas ; one great-granddaughter of Springhill; two sisters, Mae Hudson and husband Dave of Minden, and Barbara Lowery and husband Willie of Shreveport; two brothers, Nolan Gene Jackson and wife Tina of Cullen, and Andrew Jackson and wife Sherri of Kansas, Mo.; one aunt, Mattie Jackson of Shreveport; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also had several special friends, Beverly Ellis, Mary Calloway, Retha Payne and husband Walter and family, Douglas Dixon and Jessie B. White .

Kiwanda Sterling
Funeral services for Ms. Kiwanda Lashaze Sterling at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Stanton Haynes
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith," (2 Timothy 4:7). Stanton's family and friends know he finished the race in first place with complete healing and eternal happiness as his ultimate reward.
Stanton Allen Haynes, our brave little fighter, earned his angel wings and won his battle with neuroblastoma on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the age of 3 at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Stanton entered into heaven one day before his fourth birthday.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Minden at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, with the Rev. Wayne DuBose officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Stanton was kissed and welcomed into heaven by O.H. Haynes Jr., his great-grandfather; Flora Anderson, his great-grandmother; Jesse Miller, his great-grandfather; Lamar Logan, his great-grandfather; and other St. Jude friends.
He is survived by his proud and devoted parents, Jeff and Tina Miller Haynes; his loving brother, Hayden; grandparents, Linda and James Miller, Debbie and O.H. Haynes III, and Linda and Jerry Turner; great-grandparents, Freddie Louise Haynes, G.J. Anderson, Faye Miller, and Laverne Fesmire; aunts and uncles, Jamie and Scottie Booth, Hank and Dana Haynes and Dakota Haynes; and cousins, Mary Claire and Elynn Kate Boothe, Heather, Coltan and Hollan Haynes. Stanton also had very special St. Jude friends, Emma Grace Hampton and nurse, Sarah Ortiz.
Pallbearers will be Scotty McCoy, Bill Kennedy, Matt Martin, Dennis Gaston, Mike Leppert, and Ricky Elliott. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Kennedy, Jerry Brunson, Chad Puckett, Mike McCoy, Barney Hampton, Travis Schexnayder and Don Raborn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Solid Tumor Research, or the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Jude and the Ronald McDonald House for making our family yours. We could not have asked for more than you gave us - your care, friendship and devotion to our precious little boy.

Lizzettie Boatner
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzettie Boatner, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with the Rev. Don Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 15, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boater, a resident of Hurricane, Passed away Monday, Feb. 14, in Arcadia. She was a seamstress, and a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hurricane.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Boatner.
She is survived by her son, Billy Boatner and wife Julia; two daughters, Beverly Wilhite, Shelia Boyd; seven grandchildren, Desiree, Vicki, Mitchell, Monty, Melissa, Shannon and Sabrina; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tara, Dustin, Tyler, Kent, Amber, Kacie, Hailee and Collin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hurricane.

Annie Douglas
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Mae (Red) Ware Douglas will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline.
Mrs. Douglas was born to the late Munda Ware and Ivory Nell Platt on Dec. 27, 1938. She was the third of eight children. She married John L. Douglas and they had four children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ivory Nell Ware; father, Munda Ware; and brothers, William Joe Ware and Munda Ware Jr.
She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully as an usher until her health failed. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star St. Mary Chapter #22. She retired from the Bossier Parish School Board on June 30, 2003, with 23 years of service.
Annie Mae Passed away Thursday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m. at Willis-Knighton Pierremont.
She is survived by her four children, sons, Eddie Joe Douglas and wife Jackie of Doyline, Phillip Douglas of Haughton, Johnny Wayne Douglas and wife Janet of Minden; one daughter, Doris Douglas Theus and husband Eddie of Haughton; sisters, Irma Jean Harris and husband J.D., Betty Douglas and husband Bill, Luler Harris and husband Leon, all of Doyline, Rosie Larkins and husband Steavens of Princeton, and Lola Tilmon of Shreveport; brothers, Jesse Ware and wife Johnnie of Rochester, N.Y., Lee W. Ware Sr. and wife Mildred of Doyline; special family friend, Rufus Daniel of Dallas, Texas ; grandchildren, Jameshia Fuller, Natalie Douglas, Phillicia Douglas, Ursula Theus, Louella Douglas, La Keishia Stephen, Nancy Shelton, and Kendrick Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Richard Downs
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Dale Downs, 53, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 25, 2005, at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Kenneth DeHart and Wanda Dick assisting. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Springhill.
Mr. Downs, a resident of Cotton Valley, Passed away Thursday, March 24, at Minden Medical Center. He was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Cotton Valley to the late Ben and Ora Benson Downs. He was a carpenter, owner of Downs Grocery and a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry Downs, Jerry Wayne Downs, Bobby Ray Downs and Ben Downs Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bonnie Hendrix Downs of Cotton Valley; sons, Richard E. Downs and wife Theresa of Sarepta, Michael Dale Downs of Cotton Valley; brothers, David Downs of Longview, Texas , Jack Downs of Minden; sisters, Mary McCann of Minden, Shirley Owen of San Angelo, Texas , and Joyce Dick of Cotton Valley; grandchildren, MaKayla, Hannah, Adriana, Logan, Ian, Brylie and Brayden.
Pallbearers will be Steve Grooms, Don Smith, Jeremy Robinson, Allen Downs, Dennis Meshell, Gary Sexton, Greg Cash, Toby Sinclair and Michael Pipes.

Geneva Headstream
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva E. Headstream, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Headstream, a native of Letona, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, March 23, in Wimberley, Texas . She was retired from Bellsouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Headstream; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Copeland; and sister, Jeanette Hicks.
She is survived by her son, Robert Dan Headstream and wife Anita of Eatonton, Ga.; daughter, Jan H. Hoke and husband Forney of Asheville, N.C., Jill McClure and husband Patrick of Wimberley; sister, Lula Mae Williams of Minden; grandchildren, Elizabeth Haynes, Nicole Lundy and husband Scott, Will Headstream and wife Jessica and Robert Dan Headstream Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music ministry of First United Methodist Church in Minden.

Gus Hollingsworth
Funeral services for Mr. Ingus Mims Hollingsworth, 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Terrell Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 25, at the funeral home.
Mr. Hollingsworth, a native of West Monroe and a resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, March 24, in Minden. He owned and operated Hollingsworth Construction in Minden and Cotton Valley for 55 years. He was a Baptist, member of Cotton Valley Lions Club, a member of the VFW, and past mayor of Cotton Valley for eight years.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to First United Methodist Church in Cotton Valley.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Roberson Hollingsworth of Minden; two sons, Dale Morgan Hollingsworth of Elm Grove, Gary Mims Hollingsworth of Minden; daughter, Kay Hollingsworth Smith of Bossier City; grandchildren, Jason Smith of Minden, Kelley Morgan of Shreveport, Rachel Brown of Ruston, Anna Hollingsworth of Ruston, Riley Hollingsworth, Carolyne Hollingsworth, Logan Hollingsworth, and Ashley Hollingsworth, all of Minden; and great-grandchildren, Cadence Morgan and Gavin Smith.
Pallbearers will be Roy Folse, Wayne Patterson, Pat Harper, James Blythe, Billy Gray and Buster Gibson.

Fred Mathis
Funeral services for Mr. Fred Patrick Mathis will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Monsignor Carson and the Rev. Billy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, March 25, at the funeral home.
Our hearts grieve at Fred's short, courageous battle with cancer. We will miss his genuine love for his family and friends. Fred was born Jan. 26, 1961 in Banbury, England, a beloved husband, father and son.
Mr. Mathis, a resident of Minden, was an insurance adjuster for Pilot Catastrophe Co. The family would like to thank Minden Medical Center Home Health, Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center, Schumpert Hospice, and Grace Home for their special care.
He is survived by his wife, Audra Machen Mathis; two sons, Ian Mathis of West Monroe, and Jake Poole of Minden; parents, Veronica Mathis of Shreveport and Leonard Mathis of Haughton; his dear friends, Elaine Peebles of Haughton; mother-in-law, Jerry Anne Bogues and Reed; father-in-law, R.O. Machen and Barbara; brother- and sisters-in-law, Wess Machen and Sonya, Olin Machen, Nancy Thomas and Lance, Suzanne Blackwelder and Pat; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wess Machen, Olin Machen, George Murray, Lane Thompson, Ronnie Mouser and Michael Mathis.
The family is requesting that donations be made to Fred Mathis Memorial Fund set up at Gibsland Bank & Trust. All donations will be given to Grace Home. Thank you for your love and support.

Melba Phillips
Funeral services for Mrs. Melba Malone (Mrs. Sam B.) Phillips, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Scott LaLiberte officiating and the Rev. Jack Albritton assisting. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 25, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips, a native of Minden and a lifelong resident of Webster Parish, Passed away Wednesday, March 23, in Shreveport. She was a member of Sibley First Baptist Church, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and she loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam B. Phillips; son, S. Patrick Phillips; parents, Willie R. and Ruth H. Malone; one grandchild, Sam Baird Phillips; one great-grandson, Samuel Noah Phillips; and one brother, Lonnie R. Malone.
She is survived by her sons, Michael B. Phillips and wife Kathleen of Lafayette, James R. Phillips and wife Pamela of Sibley; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Phillips of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sibley First Baptist Church youth fund, P.O. Box 159, Sibley, LA 71073 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Granvel Bearden
Funeral services for Mr. Granvel Henry Bearden, 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at Church of Christ in Cotton Valley with Larry Knokes officiating and Barry Buckner assisting. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 24, at Church of Christ in Cotton Valley.
Mr. Bearden, a native of Grant, Ala., and a resident of Cotton Valley, Passed away Monday, March 21, in Cotton Valley. He was a member, deacon and song leader at Church of Christ in Cotton Valley. He retired after 30 years as a carpenter for Kerr McGee.
He is survived by his wife, Glennie McCarty Bearden of Cotton Valley; son, James Kevin Bearden and wife Nancy of Cotton Valley; daughter, Lisa Bearden Hardy and husband Steve of Homer; sisters, Inez Bearden, Ruth Wilson, Helen Tucker, all of Grant, and Dorotha Davis of Brookpart, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandy McGee of Dallas, Texas , Dana Ivy of Natchitoches, and Christopher Kellogg of Homer.

Eddy Wayne Dance
Graveside services for Mr. Eddy Wayne Dance, 52, were held at Hurricane Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Balance officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Mr. Dance, a native of Homer and a resident of Athens, Passed away Thursday, March 10, in Shreveport. He worked in maintenance.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jay W. Dance.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Dance Turner and husband Stacey; son, Steven Wayne Dance; three grandchildren, Kimberly Danforth, Kristen Turner and Hunter; mother, Dorothy Dance; three sisters, Jane Dillon, Jane T. Dobbins, and Janelle Turner; and one brother Dennis Dance.
