Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Faye Spencer will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at New Light Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Cullen under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Spencer was born May 8, 1935 to the late Jay L. Harris and Jessie Mae Glover in Farmerville. She Passed away Sunday, March 20, after a sudden and brief illness with leukemia. She was a graduate of Webster High School in 1954, and retired from Town and Country Health and Rehab Center. She was married to Colungus "Sonny" Spencer and they had two children.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Colungus Spencer; three children, Wilma Bradley of Kileen, Texas , Pam Toney and husband Jerry of Dallas, Texas , Keith Spencer and wife Shirley of Minden; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Jalyn, Jasmine, Dionne, Salena and Justant; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, A.J. Glover of Cullen and Mike Glover Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Jessye Williams of Pontiac, Mich., and Lacinda Tyler of Houston, Texas ; one God-sister, Ollie V. White of Cullen; three sisters-in-law, Ruthie Spencer of Minden, Mattie James of Perris, Calif., Faye Glover of Cullen; one brother-in-law, Fred Spencer of Minden; and a host of well loved nephews, nieces, cousins and one special devoted dear sister in Christ, Peggy Dillard of Minden.

Arthur Sterling
Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Sterling will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the funeral home.

Harriet Martin
Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Robertson Martin, 86, will be held at 4 p.m. today, March 21, 2005, at Evergreen Union Church in the Evergreen Community with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Martin, a native of Shreveport and a resident of Webster Parish since 1936, Passed away Friday, March 18, in Minden. She was a retired school teacher, teaching 38 years in Webster Parish. She was a member of Evergreen Union Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, the LTA, and the Webster Parish Retired Teacher's Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Martin; and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Matt Martin and wife Ruth of Minden; two grandchildren, Angi Oller and husband Jeff, Scott Martin and wife Michelle of Minden; three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Maty Oller and Will Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be O.H. Haynes III, Hasting C. Merritt Jr., Olin Machen, Arthur Spene, Jeff Oller and Scott Martin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Billy Ray Taylor
Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Taylor , 67, will be held at 1 p.m. today, March 21, 2005, at Antioch Baptist Church in Dixie Inn with the Rev. Danny Warbington and the Rev. Ronald Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse at 3:30 p.m., under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Taylor , a native of Converse and a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, March 18, in Bossier City. He was an engineer at the Louisiana Ordinance Plant and Ballard Engineering.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Celesta Sistrunk Taylor ; father, Steve Taylor ; and sister, Hazel Taylor .
He is survived by his wife, Virgie Kreidel Taylor of Minden; mother, Madeline Barron Taylor of Converse; children, Rodney Steven Taylor and wife Shari of Pine Bluff, Ark., Mahlon Ray Taylor and wife Tina of Doyline; Keith Lionel Taylor and wife Sherry of Haughton, Billy Shannon Taylor and wife Stacy of Silsbee, Texas ; Jennifer Ratcliff Bruner and husband Richard of Sibley, Rosslyn Ratcliff Mosteiro and husband Rickie of Arabi; brothers, James Preston Taylor of Benton, and Ronnie C. Taylor of Garland, Texas ; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Russell Taylor , Steven Taylor , Richard Bruner, Bryan Butler, Raymond Cooper and Paul Stanfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club causes.

Gloria Girton
Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Siles Girton will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at New Light Baptist Church, located at 413 R. Reeder Street. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery with a repast to follow in the N.S. Coleman Fellowship Hall of New Light Baptist Church.
Mrs. Girton was born June 10, 1942, to the late Gustie Siles and Idee Siles Harper in Minden, and Passed away Sunday, March 13, at Minden Medical Center. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Harold Girton; two siblings, Louis Siles and Nadine Harper; one grandson, Eddy Green; two aunts, Arliss Thornton and Augusta Edmond and her best friend, Hazel Thornton.
She is survived by her two sons, Billy Joe Siles and Eddie Lee Green and wife Felicia; two daughters, Annette Green Jefferson and husband Maruice, and Minerva Souice; brothers, Billy Lee Souice, Albert Harper Jr., and Eldred Harper; grandchildren, Darrium Andre Green, Gloria Dee Valdez, Jermaine Green, Angel Arrington, Sereva Siles, Mario Jefferson , Edjuan Green, Washtaevius Jefferson , Christopher Siles, Antoine Jefferson , Porshay Finney and Anaya Green; five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

John Henry Bradford
Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Bradford, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at New Hope CME Church in Minden. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Homer.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home on East Union in Minden.
Mr. Bradford, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, March 9.

Louise Jackson
Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Harper Jackson , 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Randy Hales and the Rev. James Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., today, March 17, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jackson , a native of Doyline and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, March 15, in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. She was a retired office manager for Cal Gas.
She is survived by her husband, James P. Jackson ; two daughters, Sue Beatty and husband Ned, and Mme G Harper; three granddaughters, Shannon Thornton, Heather Ogea and Deanne Beatty; and two grandsons, Cole Thornton and Dade Ogea.
Pallbearers will be Joe Carter, Clint Carter, Wayne Dillman, Bill Gusko, Allan Strickland and Richard Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Blagg and W.E. Jackson Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Home.

Joseph Ratcliff
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Bernice Ratcliff, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 17, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter and the Rev. Bill Crider assisting. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.
Mr. Ratcliff, a native of Sibley and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 13, in Minden. He was a retired revenue inspector for 30 years with the Louisiana State Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden. He was also a past member of the Minden High School Quarterback Club, past president of the Minden Jaycees, a past employee of the tax assessor's office in Webster parish, a Mason and a member of the Downtown Lions Club.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Meadowview Health and Rehab of Minden for their superb care over the last four and one half years.
Mr. Ratcliff was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Rhea Ratcliff and his son, Gary B. Ratcliff.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jan Saltzman and husband Calvin of Ellicott City, Md., Jeanne Morris and husband Eugene of Minden; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Llewellyn Cook Sr.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Llewellyn Dawson Cook, Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Dr. Edward Thomas of Broadmoor United Methodist and Pastor Steve Angel of Calvary Baptist will be presiding over the service. Services are under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport.
Mr. Cook, born May 25, 1937, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ after a courageous battle against a lengthy illness on March 14, 2005.
Mr. Cook was an educated and very passionate man who loved the Lord, his family, model railroading and golf. He received degrees from LSU and Centenary College and taught in both Bossier and Caddo Parish school systems. After a successful career teaching, his passion for model railroading took over and he opened Cook's Collectors Corner model railroad shop. He spent the next 40-plus years turning his hobby into one of the most recognized and acclaimed model railroading stores in the United States.
Mr. Cook will always be remembered for his generosity, his kindness and his love of his family. He will be deeply missed by all and we find glory that he is at peace with the Lord Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Byron Cook and his mother, Martha Cook.
He is survived by his wife, LaRae Moore Cook and her two sons, Neil Edward Smith and wife, April, Christopher Robert Smith and wife, Gina; daughter, Andrea Lynn Edmonson, sons, Dr. Llewellyn Dawson Cook Jr. and wife, Michelle, Donald Martin Cook and wife, Jennifer; as well as his grandchildren, Mark Edmonson, Bristen Cook, Morgan, Kaitlyn, Cameron and Kelsey Smith, and special family friend, Ella Calhoun.
Many thanks to everyone who cared and loved for Mr. Cook. A special thank you to our Brothers in Christ, Dr. David M. Abdehou and Dr. Raja I. Zabaneh whose love and caring for Mr. Cook as well as our Lord comforted us to the end.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Hoge, Russell Pedro, Jim McClure, Jim Monk, Ed Joseph and Carl Richardson.
The family requests memorial gifts be made to Calvary Baptist Academy, 9333 Linwood Ave., Shreveport LA 71106.

Thomas McCoy
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Eugene McCoy, 63, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bob Rhymes officiating and the Rev. T.W. Barnes assisting. Burial followed at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley.
Mr. McCoy, a native of Shreveport and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 13, in Minden. He was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Minden. The family would like to thank the nurses at Northwest Regional Hospice and special thanks to Jo Ann DeLoach.
He is survived by his wife, Justine C. McCoy of Minden; two sons, Rocky McCoy and wife Robin of Marshall, Texas , Michael McCoy and wife Jennifer of Minden; one daughter, Melody Kay McCoy of Minden; sisters, Patsy Cleavis of Popperville, Ms., and Debbie Moran of Houston, Texas ; five grandchildren including Phillip Allman and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be L.C. Peevy, Brad Peevy, Frankie Chanler, Hoyle Chanler, Jack Tharpe, Doyle Chanler and Vernon Chanler.

Robert Lloyd Mathews
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lloyd Mathews, Sr., 81, were to be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, with the Rev. James Gass officiating. interment was to follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, Meriwether Road, with Military Honors by the 12th District Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
Mr. Mathews was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Bentonville, Va., to the late Robert and Ruby Mathews. He Passed away Saturday, March 12, in Athens. Mr. Mathews was a member of Gilgal Baptist Church in Minden. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Mathews was a recipient of the Purple Heart as a participant in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of VFW in Taylor , and of the American Legion DAV.
Mr. Mathews was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Rhonda House and Faith Armstrong; grandson, Maurice Wrigley and James McCullough; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Rena Hillman Mathews; sons, Robert Lloyd Mathews, Jr. and wife, Yvette, Bill Shipp and wife, Paula and Johnny Lewis; daughters, Patricia McCullough, Rita Jones and Yvette Deem and husband, Michael; sisters, Verla Nynan, Catherine Baggarly, Effie Boggs, Lilly Evans, Deanna Sylvia and Lillian Faye Lyons; brothers, Elwood Mathews and Paul Mathews; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were to be his grandson, David McCullough, Robert Mathews, III, Bill Mathews, Michael Mathews, Mark Hay and Matthew Hay.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Northwest Regional Hospice for their compassion and care.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Horace Rhodes
Funeral services for Mr. Horace "Randy" Rhodes, 52, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City with the Rev. Mike Scott, pastor of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, officiating, and the Rev. Olan McDaniel assisting. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Turkey Creek Cemetery near Hughes Springs, Texas .
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, March 15, at the funeral home in Bossier City.
Mr. Rhodes, a native of Hughes Springs and a resident of Shreveport, Passed away Monday, March 14, in Bossier City, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was employed by G.E. He was also a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Blanchard, and a member of the Star Rider Motorcycle Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Marie Rhodes and his sister, Patsy Dillard.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gail Rhodes of Shreveport; his son, Chad Randall Rhodes of Doyline; step-daughter, Natalie Gail McAlpin of Tyler, Texas ; sister, Jeannie Dyess of Hughes Springs; brothers, Reggie Rhodes of Doyline, Joel Rhodes of Hughes Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two great-great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Arrington and Albert Collins.

Dale Ervin
Funeral services for Mrs. Dale Marie Sperbeck Ervin, 53, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Antioch Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating. Burial followed at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Ervin, a native of Cobleskill, N.Y., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, March 11, in Minden. She was a homemaker. She was born March 19, 1951, and was a beloved wife, mother and a faithful servant of her Lord at Antioch Baptist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her son in December 2000, Robert Ervin; father-in-law, W.C. Ervin and her paternal grandparents, Lovella and Edwin Sperbeck; and maternal grandparents, Winnie and Adella Utter.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Wayne Ervin of Minden; daughter, Tracy Lynn Blevins of Minden; father and mother, Millard "Pete" and Viva Sperbeck of Warnerville, N.Y.; sister, Delores Falzarano and son Aaron of Cobleskill; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ann Snelgrove and husband Pete of Plain Dealing; brother-in-law, William C. Ervin Jr. and wife Edie of Roseville, Calif.; sister-in-law, Jo Anne Barmore and husband Jack of Etters, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Homer Jones, Terry Sanders, Steve Anderson, Kirby Moore, Joe Whaley and John Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund.
