Funeral services for Mr. Drew "O.D." Fuller will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Doyline. Burial will follow at Kirk Chapel Community Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Kirk Chapel CME Church in Doyline.

Aaron Joseph Robles
Funeral services for Aaron Joseph Robles, 9, of Dubberly, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Rose-Neath Minden Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating, assisted by Aaron’s great-aunt, Helen Antilley. Internment followed at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly.
Aaron Robles was born in Shreveport and Passed away March 31, 2005, at his residence. He was a student at Central Elementary School where he participated in the Advanced Reading Program. He was also a little league baseball player.
He is survived by his parents, Adrian Joe Robles and Angela Marie DeLoach Robles of Dubberly; his grandparents, Joy Spillers of Dubberly, Happy and Joe Robles of Haughton and Thomas Ray DeLoach of Benton; his great-grandparents, Juan and Clara Robles of Puerto Rico; one sister, Alayna Robles of Dubberly; one brother, Alex Robles of Dubberly; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and classmates.

J.C. Merritt
Funeral services for Mr. J.C. Merritt, 79, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Corky Pluckett Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Minden Cemetery.
Mr. Merritt, a native of Shongaloo and a resident of Minden most of his life, Passed away Sunday, March 27, in Quitman, where he had lived for the last three months. He was born June 8, 1925. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
He was preceded in death by six sisters; and four brothers.
He is survived by his two sons, John Wayne Merritt and wife Toni of Simsboro, Jessie Calvin Merritt and wife Barbara of Junction City; daughter, Linda Fagan and husband James of Quitman; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Emily Pardue
Funeral services for infant Emily Nicole Pardue, just 11 days old, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold with the Rev. James Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Martin.
Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, March 31, at the funeral home.
Emily Passed away Monday, March 28. She was a resident of Dubberly. Emily was born Thursday, March 17, in New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Sam Pardue.
She is survived by her loving parents, Jason and Ida Pardue of Dubberly; sister, Elizabeth Grace Pardue of Dubberly; maternal grandparents, Brenda and Ed Tanner of Lake Wales, Fla., Clifton and Linda Parrish of Dickson, Tenn.; great-maternal grandparents, Ida Glass of Lake Wales, Martha Ray of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; aunts, Samantha Pardue and her sons, Jacob and Caleb of Panama City, Fla., Amber Parrish of Dickson; uncles, Eric Parrish and his daughter, Alexandra of Frost Proof, Fla., Lee Parrish of Dickson; and a numbere of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Reliford and Jason Nelson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to friends, Scott and Jennifer Carter for all of their love and support, and to everybody that helped them in their time of need.

Jack Smith Sr.
A celebration of the life of Jack Rocell Smith, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Minden with the pastors of First Baptist Church in Minden officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Valley Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
The family will receive visitors from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home today, March 31.
The youngest of six children, Jack was born to Jamie and Allie Smith on April11, 1921, in Hortman. He died at home Wednesday, March 30, after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Graham, Nina, Floyd, Cliff, and Bartow Smith and nephews Jamie and Jimmie Smith and Quillen Collins.
Jack grew up in the Hortman community where his family was active in Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, and he attended Cotton Valley schools. While training at Camp Hulan in Palacios, Texas , during World War II, he met Faye Collins. They married on August 28, 1943. Jack's service during World War II was with the 204th Anti-Aircraft Division. He and Faye settled in Minden upon his return from the service.
He was a locomotive engineer with Louisiana & Arkansas Railway, a division of KCS, retiring with 38 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed active membership with the KCS Railroad Retirees, First Baptist Church in Minden, his Sunday School class, and Son Risers.
Jack Smith was a fine man. He loved his family, his friends, his neighbors, and a good story. He was a model of devotion, responsibility, and selflessness. He had a most tender heart and delighted in children, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jack is survived by Faye, his wife of 61 years; his children and their spouses Jack and Donna Smith of Mountain Home, Ark.; Janice Allison of Minden; and Deborah and Stephen Roberts of Shreveport. He also leaves his grandchildren and their families: Wendy Smith; Kristy, Jeff, Jeffrey, Scotty and Jake Harvill; Julie Clark; Jennifer, Matt, Michael and Abby Flynn; Sarah Smith; Mackenzie Roberts; and step-grandchildren Emily Lewis, Stephen Roberts, Jr., Hobby Roberts, Philip Goerner and Catherine Hall. Surviving him also are a host of nieces and nephews, his in-laws Louise Smith and Ray and Evelyn Collins and his beloved neighbors, Bonnie and Ernie Brown.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews, and honorary pallbearers will be KCS Railroad Retirees, his Sunday School class, Son Risers, and Ernie Brown.
The family would like to thank all those who have loved and cared for Jack in his health and in his illness, including his many friends, Dr. Charlie Powers, Joann DeLoach and Northwest Regional Hospice.
The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.

Odessa Bruton
Funeral services for Mrs. Odessa Lee Bruton will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline. Burial will follow at Jenkins Community Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
She was born in April 1912, and Passed away March 2005. Her home was here in Doyline, but she was a resident of Meadowview Health and Rehab, since March 1995, where she Passed away. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She is survived by two daughters, Gradie Ward of Doyline and Henrietta Jackson of Cullen; 12 grandchildren, Mary Ferguson, Earnestine Jackson , Tommie Jackson , Robert Jackson , Dorothy Peoples, Doris Ward, Grace Boyd, Thelma Ward, Sybil Myers, Louis Ward Jr., Stella Jacob and Mattie Ward; 21 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Johnny Jackson Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Jackson Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, at White Oak Grove Baptist Church in Homer. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the funeral home.

J.C. Merritt
Funeral services for Mr. J.C. Merritt, 69, will be held at 1 p.m. today, March 30, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Corky Pluckett Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.

Jeffrey Poland
Funeral services for Mr. Jeffrey Lee Poland, 48, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Allen Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 30, at the funeral home.
Mr. Poland, a native of St. Cloud, Miss., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, March 27, in Ringgold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpheus and Delda Poland; niece, Amber Bryan and nephew, Joseph Shuler.
He is survived by four sisters, Sherry Davis of Sibley, Patti Gray of Hendersonville, Tenn., Deborah Bryan of Minden, and Rebecca Poland McDonald of Stonewall; six nieces; three nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Paul Braswell, Jesse Braswell, John Paul Braswell, Ethan Bryan, Carlton Frye, and Shawn Dutton.

Vincent Rambo
Funeral services for Mr. Vincent Charles Rambo will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
He is survived by his father, Travis Rambo of Minden; step-mother, Betty McCoy of Minden; brother, Michael Cornelius; sisters, Charlott Cornelius and Cecelia Scott, all of Minden.

James “Tommy” Wheless
Graveside services for Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Wheless, 53, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery near Dixie Inn, with the Rev. William “Bill” Stowell, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport, officiating. His brother, David Wheless, provided music.
Mr. Wheless Passed away Thursday night, March 17, in Shreveport, after a battle with cancer. He was a retired custodian from LSU Hospital in Shreveport. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport.
He is survived by two sisters, Jewell and Sharon Wheless of Shreveport; his parents, James “Jimmy” and Myrtle Wheless of Shreveport; one brother, David Wheless and his wife Cindy of Crossett, Ark.; and a number of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was greatly loved and will be missed.

Jewel Mitchell
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel S. Mitchell, 95, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer with Dr. James Simeon and Dr. Pat Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 28, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mitchell was born Dec. 31, 1909 in Claiborne Parish to John Albert Sanders and Vanna Harell Sanders. She Passed away Saturday, March 26, at Homer Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Homer Memorial Hospital, especially in the intensive care unit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillie Tait Mitchell.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Janice Mitchell of Homer; two sisters, Nancy Cooper of Dubach, and Susie E. Haag of Bossier City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gladney Dillon, Perry Sanders, Dr. Don Haynes, Clyde Hightower, Hershall Cooper, Connie Farrar, Marvin Davidson and W. Scott Lowery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Homer, the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to the donor's choice.

Alice Williams Allen
Alice Wiliams Allen, 81, Passed away Dec. 15, 2004, at her home in Albuquerque, N.M. She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Woodworth, to Helen L’Herission and Charlie Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Allen of Minden.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. Huggins; son, Gregory H. Allen; son-in-law, Allen G. Huggins, all residing in Albuquerque; sister, Sunshine Sutton of Stamps, Ark.; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Maxine Allen of Minden; grandsons, Allen and Christopher Huggins, their spouses; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Meagan Huggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no public memorial service. Burial will follow in Minden in this month.
Donations in her name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

L.C. Cook
Graveside services for Mrs. L.C. Cook, 99, will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 9, 2005, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Cox, a resident of Minden for 60 years, Passed away Saturday, May 7, in Minden. She was born in Texarkana, Texas .
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Cook; and her parents, Leo and Cora Mathewson.
She is survived by her son, Bill Cook of Minden; daughter, Norma Jean Brock of Minden; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe.

Joseph Edwards
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Michael Edwards, 34, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, May 9, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Scott Laliberte officiating and the Rev. Charles Penuall assisting. Burial was to follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley.
Mr. Edwards, a native of Minden and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Friday, May 6, in Sibley. He loved working with the youth at his church.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Patricia and Michael Estess of Sibley; father and step-mother, Mike and Bonnie Edwards of Athens; daughter, Lauren Edwards of Viola, Ark.; sister, Monica and husband Shanon Spillers of Sibley; two step-daughters, Leann and Shana Waters of Viola; step-sister, Becky Freeman of Omaha, Neb.; step-brother, Ryan Spigener of Athens; two nieces, Sydney Edwards and Josie Spillers; also uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Philadelphia Center at 2020 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104.
