Funeral services for Mr. Roy E. Brown, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Brian Allbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, April 25, at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown, a native of Loanoke, Ark., and a resident of Haughton for the past 41 years, Passed away Saturday, April 23, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was a retired truck driver employed by Complete Auto Transit. He was a Baptist, an Army World War II veteran, and a member of the Teamsters Local #568.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva W. Brown of Haughton; two daughters, Linda Brown and Helen Collins, both of Haughton; one sister, Lola Valot of West Monroe; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Ann Hudson
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Ann Elkins Hudson, 94, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Mike Benefield and Thomas Hudson officiating. Burial followed at Western Cemetery in Emerson, Ark.
Mrs. Hudson, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Thursday, April 21, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Preston Hudson of Minden; her daughter, Jimmie Sue Coulter of Minden; four grandchildren, David Coulter, Linda Brash, Zoe Hudson and Susan Blain; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Coulter, Jennifer Coulter, Calvin Williams, Samantha Williams and Kyla Williams; and one great-great-grandchild.

Nancy McKenzie
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy F. McKenzie, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 25, 2005, at Cotton Valley First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. McKenzie, a native of Claiborne Parish and a resident of Cotton Valley, Passed away Friday, April 22, in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Arnold McKenzie of Cotton Valley; two step-daughters, Janice Durham of Cotton Valley, and Wanda F. Odom of Columbus, Miss.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.

Mel Roy McEachern
Funeral services for Mr. Mel Roy McEachern, 76, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Richard Dow, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was an active and well-loved member, officiating.
Burial will follow at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, April 21, at the funeral home.
Mr. McEachern, a resident of Elm Grove, Passed away Tuesday, April 19, after a bout with cancer.
He was born April 2, 1929 in Waldo, Ark.
He was an Army veteran, and he spent most of his life in and around the Minden area as a welder.
After retirement, he lived close to Lake Bistineau, where he spent many hours doing the thing he loved best, fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neubyn McEachern; mother, Maye W. McEachern; sister, Verne Dee Hightower; and his brother, Vardell McEachern.
He is survived by his wife, Betty McEachern; two daughters, Debbie Childs and husband Ronnie, Linda Gongre and husband Wayne; one brother, Jimmy D. McEachern; grandsons, Clay Carter, Matt Childs, Jeremy Hoff; one great-grandson, Hunter Carter; and a very longtime and dear friend, Beth Wilt; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Gongre, Ronnie Childs, Clay Carter, Joey Patterson, Steve McEachern and Dewey Morgan.
His family wishes to thank Life Path Hospice Care for their great service in caring for him at home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Rosie Taylor
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosie Lee Watson Taylor , 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at St. Mary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Wright officiating. interment will follow in the Doyline Community Cemetery under the direction of Kennon’s Mortuary in Minden.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, at Kennon’s Mortuary.
Rosie Lee Taylor was born March 15, 1928, in Koran, to the late Louis Ross Knowles and the late Lewis Watson.
She united in holy matrimony to the late Willie D. Taylor .
She departed this earthly life on April 16, 2005 in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, L. C. Smith and Wesley Knowles.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Mary Watson Voiles (Robert) of Bellingham, Wash., and Dorothy Govant of Houston, Texas ; two brothers, Frank Watson (Ina) and Clarence Watson, both of Houston; sister-in-law, Betty Knowles; two first cousins, Ida B. French (Jimmy) of Doyline, and Tiny Bell Watson of Santa Monica, Calif.; seven nieces and five nephews; three godchildren, Quandra Cole, Paul Smith (Debra) both of Doyline, and Ehtel Parker (Billy) of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Richard Williams
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Earl Williams, 54, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, in the Kennon’s Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Horace Flournoy officiating. interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m.
Richard Earl Williams was born Dec. 12, 1950, in Shreveport, to the late Clyde Hamilton and Emerline Williams.
He served in the United States Air Force.
He departed this earthly life on April 18, 2005 in Minden.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his fiancé, Cleamintean Webb Whiting; five sons, Richie Earl Whiting, of Norfolk, Va., Corey Whiting, Craig Whiting, Amon Whiting (Jackie), all of Minden, and Eric Whiting (Jeanne) of Slidell; one daughter, Consuela Whiting of Minden; one brother, L. B. Taylor of Minden; three sisters, Deola Joseph, Rosie Noble, both of Alexandria, and Gloria Epps Moody of Minden; four grandchildren; special niece, Mary Colquitt, of Minden; special friends, Athlean and Floyd Harris and Joe and Margaret Timmons, all of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Johnnie Claire Whitlow
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Claire Whitlow, 78, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, April 20, 2005, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Pam Roy officiating. Iley Evans will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.
Mrs. Whitlow was born in Clarks, on Aug. 3, 1926, to Roddy and Lois Harpe White .
She Passed away Monday, April 18, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
She was the owner of the Nu-Ta-U Antique Shops in Clarks and Grayson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George W. Whitlow.
She is survived by her sons, George Artie “Butch” Whitlow and wife Catherine of Washington , Ind., John Roderick “Rick” Whitlow and wife Sharon of Columbia; brother, Roddy White Jr. of Clarks; sisters, Shirley Seivers of Herbert, Cindy Morris of Riverton, Sharon Hartley of Clarks and Donna Thornhill of Shreveport; her grandchildren, Erin Thomas, Heather Whitlow, Jennifer Whitlow and Bryan Whitlow; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Charles Simson, Mark Meredith, Chad McGovern, Iley Evans, Bill Beasley and Ken Brockner.

Dorothy Burkett
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Strawn Burkett, 78, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Don McCormick officiating and the Rev. James Crain assisting.
Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Burkett, a native of Sulphur Springs, Texas , and a resident of Minden since 1947, Passed away Friday, April 15, at her residence.
She was a housewife, and a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Carter Burkett; parents, Leslie and Mary Strawn; two sisters, Genevia and Eudell; two brothers, Lewis and Jack Strawn.
She is survived by one sister, Jesmine Wood of Omaha, Texas ; two brothers, Lance and Buck Strawn of Dangerfield, Texas ; and many nieces, nephews, friends and godsons including Ronald and Richard Adams, Tommy, Kent and Loyd Brown.
Pallbearers were Ben and Luke Adams, Tommy and Loyd Brown, Morris Busby and Nicholas Cox.

Howard B. Lee
Funeral services for Mr. Howard B. “Doc” Lee, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Rhymes, the Rev. officiating. Burial will follow at Gilgal Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, April 18, 2005, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lee, a native of Heflin and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, April 17, at Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center.
He was retired from Howard Lumber Co., and a member of Gilgal Baptist Church in Minden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard B. and Maybelle Lee; his wife, Evelyn Lee; and his sister, Jeanette Thurman.
He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Lee; sons, Steve Lee and wife Claudia, Ricky D. Lee and wife Beth, Kenneth Lee; sisters, Joyce Gamble and Phyllis Shelton; brother, Gerry Ben Lee; step-children, Rose Biles, Susan Dooly and Kevin Terral; grandchildren, Shane Lee, Dr. Stephen Lee and Stephanie Mercer; and great-grandchild, Ashlyn Lee.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Stephen Lee, Shane Lee, Coty Lee, Dr. George Gamble, Kelly Gamble and Clay Gamble.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Wilson, Robert Woodard and James Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bobbie Wahl
Graveside services for Mrs. Bobbie Hooper Wahl, 82, were held at 10 a.m. today, April 18, 2005, at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley with the Rev. George Tharpe officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Wahl, a lifelong resident of Sibley and Webster Parish, and a resident of Colonial Oaks Nursing Home for several years, Passed away Friday, April 15, in Bossier City. She was born in Homer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Belle and Hart Hooper; sister, Meg Lutz; and her husband, Wilmer “Red” Wahl.
She is survived by her son, Travis T. Vance; two daughters, Leslie Pitts and husband Chester, and Sheila Lyons and husband Carson “Lee”; grandchildren, Travis T. Vance III, Lori V. Barfield, Shannon Friedman, Pamela F. Breen, Daniel M. Luongo, Chet E. Pitts, Brandy P. Muskenski, and Dustin B. Pitts; and nine great-grandchildren.
Special thanks goes to the caregivers at Colonial Oaks.

Jerry Lynn Davis
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Lynn Davis, 69, will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 15, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Davis, a native of Sabine Parish and a resident of Gladewater, Texas , Passed away Tuesday, April 12, in Gladewater.
He was a retired residential property manager.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Rogers Davis of Gladewater; one son, Russell Davis of Arkansas; three sisters, Clyda Baten of Minden, Frankie Dans of Shreveport, Betty Freeman of Springhill; three brothers, Bill Davis of Athens, Texas , Don Davis of Minden, Horace Davis of Heflin; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Davis, John Davis; and one great-grandchild, Kelsey Davis.

Rita Brown
Graveside services for Mrs. Rita McPherson Brown, 82, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, April 14, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Mississippi and a lifelong resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, April 13, in Bossier City.
She was the co-owner of Clyde Brown Construction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Brown; and her daughter, Geraldine Brown.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Brown and wife Connie of Bossier City; sister, Alice Adams of Minden; three grandchildren, Robbin Sistrunk, Kevin Watson and Renee Brown Ponder; and three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Sistrunk, Caroline Ponder and Benjamin Ponder.
Pallbearers will be Gary Brown, Teddy Brown, Smitty Brown, Johnny Jeter, Will Hubbard and Lloyd Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammie Brown, Robert Hunter, Dennis Brown and Mark Moore.
Special thanks goes to Oddessey Hospice, especially Suzie Lester.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Stella Potter
Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Potter will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at St. Rest Baptist Church, 1664 Garden Street in Shreveport, with the Rev. Robert Walton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery.
Mrs. Potter was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Doyline to the Rev. Joe Jackson and Mrs. Corine Jefferson Jackson .
She shared the love and guidance of her parents with four sisters and five brothers.
She married Alonzo Potter, and they had one son, John Potter.
On Sunday, April 10, Mrs. Potter Passed away.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one brother, Morris Jackson Sr. of Doyline; two sisters, Odessa Stubblefield of Dallas, Texas , and Perline Byers of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Augustine Hayes of Dallas, Texas , and Pearl Jackson of Los Angeles; one grandson, Patrick Terry and wife Cynthia; one great-granddaughter; care-giving niece, Annie Ruth Richardson and husband James of Doyline; two goddaughters, Shirley Robinson and Jasmine Smith; caring cousins, Beecha and Betty Willias family; the entire Selber family; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
