Robert Lee
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lee, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Kennon’s Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Calvin D. Moore officiating. interment will follow at the Doyline Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, May 16, in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary with family hour.
Robert Lee was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Minden, to the late Eugene and Lela Richardson Lee. He departed this earthly life on May 13, in Minden.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Herman Lee of Princeton, Arthur M. Lee of Plain Dealing, and Aaron Lee of Bossier City; two sisters, Bertha Mae Armstrong of Shreveport, and Virgie Mae Baker of Dallas, Texas ; stepdaughter, Carrie Carodine of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Vivian Stratton
Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Wise Stratton, 84 years young, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Crider, senior adult minister of First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bill Ichter, chaplain at Minden Medical Center, officiating. A graveside service followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Stratton was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Gillette, Ark., to the late Ernest and Eura Wise. She was married to the late Jerald D. Stratton, her beloved husband of 54 years. As a young woman, Vivian worked for Texas Eastern Petroleum Company in Shreveport, and Bell Telephone of Minden. After her marriage, Vivian became a wonderful homemaker and cook. Many have said that she made the best crawfish etouffee ever. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Even though she lived the last two years of her life in Shreveport, Vivian remained a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Minden. Despite numerous health problems, she retained a lively mind and some would say a lively tongue.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Ernestine “Sear” Stanley and husband Harold of Plain Dealing; and nephew, Melvin Stanley of Longwood.
She is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Lauren of Shreveport; granddaughter, Somer Stratton and great-grandson, Caiden, who was her best buddy; nephew, DeWayne Stanley and wife Charlotte of Cotton Valley; niece, Carol Matlock of Plain Dealing; many great-nieces and nephews; “honorary” niece, Renee McKeever and son Matthew of Benton; and the Arkansas cousins, Jose Gordon and daughter Jane and husband Eric Niebergall of Conroe, Texas ; Charles Wallace, Doodle Ritchter, Lizzie Hesser, Orvill Wallace, Justin Wallace, Rene Beaverberg, and Florene Wallace, all of Gillette.
Pallbearers were George Turner, Joe Whaley, George Chambers III, Fred Haynes, Eric Niebergall and Matthew McKeever. Honorary pallbearers were the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Minden.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ashok Kompelli, Dr. Richard Fincher, and Dr. Robert Taylor . Special heartfelt thanks are given to the nurses and staff at Willis-Knighton North ICU and 2 East and caregivers Bobbie Allen and Rasheeda Johnson for their wonderful care of Vivian during her hospitalization.
The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe.

LeErma White
Funeral services for Mrs. LeErma Hilburn White , 78, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, May 16, 2005, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Wayne Reeves officiating. Burial was to follow at Plain Dealing Cemetery.
Mrs. White was born Oct. 23, 1926 in Bradley, Ark., to Ollie Vester and Mary Pauline Smith Hilburn, and Passed away Saturday, May 14, in Springhill, following a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Springhill since 1954, a member of Temple Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandsons, Larry Gene Jenkins Jr., Douglas Wayne Brooks; and her great-grandson, Colton William Edward Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Bert G. White Sr.; daughters, Margie Beth Anderson of Mt. Jackson , Va., Barbara Jo Compton of Plain Dealing; sons, Bert G. White Jr. and wife Frances of Front Royal, Va., Benny Ray White and wife Barbara Ann of Springhill; sisters, Ethelene Harris of Plain Dealing, Lorene Rachel and husband Joe of Blanchard; brothers, James Hilburn and wife Lillie Mae, David “Buddy” Hilburn Sr.; sister-in-law, Peralee Hilburn, all of Plain Dealing; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Bill Hays, David Camp, Chuck Totty, Huey Slack, Kevin Edwards and Gary Shelton.

Timothy Battles
Funeral services for Mr. Timothy Guyman Battles, 32, will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 13, 2005, at Minden Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Minden Cemetery under the direction of Mortuary Services of Louisiana .
Visitation will be held until the time of services today, May 13, at the church.
Mr. Battles, born on Nov. 2, 1972, Passed away Friday, May 6, at approximately 6 a.m. He was a native of Vista, Calif., and had resided in Minden since 1974.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert Riley Dunning; his grandmother, Violet Battles; and his father, Ronald Lenere Edge.
He is survived by two beautiful sons, Jay and Dillan; his grandmother, Kathryn Dunning Cleveland; mother, Kathryn Dunning Edge; his biological father, Ernest Willis Battles of Mississippi; two brothers, John and Nathan; two sisters, Sarah and Allie Edge; four aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to recognize and thank three very special friends, Benny Phipps, Emily Dickinson and Allie Phipps.
Pallbearers will be John Edge, Nathan Edge and Benny Phipps. Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Dunning and Ronnie Marshall.

Billy Hanson
Funeral services for Mr. Billy Noel Hanson, 73, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Doyline with the Rev. Tom Carlton and the Rev. Steve Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Doyline Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Hanson Passed away Wednesday, May 11, in Shreveport. He was born on Oct. 5, 1931 in Ida, the son of Jim Hanson and Gladys Martin Hanson. He was married to Dixie Faye Carter on Sept. 12, 1952. Billy was a member of First Baptist Church in Doyline, and retired from Champion Ford after 43 years of service. He volunteered and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, working in his garden, wood-working, and keeping his lawn immaculate. Billy would have told you that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was happiest when he and his wife were spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss our “Honey.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James Hanson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dixie Hanson of Doyline; three sons, Steve Hanson and wife Rhonda of Glenwood, Ark., David Hanson and wife Beth of Little Rock, Ark., Bobby Hanson and wife Arlene of Doyline; one daughter, Donna Hanson Boltinghouse of Bossier City; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Braden Davis of Austin, Texas , Ben and Kristy Hanson of Little Rock, Felecia Blakely of Bossier City, Cody Hanson of Shreveport, Jason and Katie Boltinghouse of Bossier City, Hollie and Ricky Blue of Bossier City, Kimberly and William Sheperd of Arcadia, Kristy Hanson of Roanoke, Va., and Polly and George Pate of Kirby, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Cade and Luke Sawyer Hanson of Little Rock, Conner Sebastian Blakely of Bossier City, Tucker Hanson Davis of Austin, Texas , Kate Helen Boltinghouse of Bossier City, and Colton Andrew Pate of Kirby; one brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Martha Gingles of Shreveport; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ella Bert of Shreveport and Virginia “Sissy” and W.T. “Kink” Burge of Doyline; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Marler, Dr. Stuart Lebas, Dr. Alan Grosbach, Dr. Michael Futrell and the wonderful, loving, caring staff at Dubuis Hosptial. Sincere appreciation is extended to our dear friend, Dr. Eddie Dean for the love and support he has given and continues to give each of us in our times of need.

Mae Boozer
Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Sandifer Boozer will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 1, 2005, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Dennis Sims, pastor of Ellerbe Road Baptist Church in Shreveport, officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boozer, “Mae,” Passed away Sunday, May 24, following a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1918, in Brookhaven, Miss., to Eugene and Martha West Sandifer. Mae was a resident of Springhill from 1947 until 1995, and a resident of the Glen-Stiles Apartments in Shreveport for the last 10 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Springhill and attended Ellerbe Road Baptist Church in Shreveport.
Mrs. Boozer retired from International Paper Company, Woodlands Division, and was a staff member of Central Baptist Church for more than 15 years.
She was strong in her faith, walked with her Lord and spoke with him daily. She adored her family and was a proud “Mimi” and “Grand Mimi.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; and one brother, Tom Sandifer.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha “Marty” Van Cleave and her husband Richard of Shreveport; granddaughter, Romy Mathews and her husband David of DeBerry, Texas ; great-grandchildren, Austin Smith, Garrett Mathews and Karlie Mathews; nieces, Judy Thomas, Esther Meadows, Olivia Woods and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Colley, Joe Curtis, James Barnes, David Sawyer, George Ray Smith and Carl Moore.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Drs. Jacobson, Singh, Scaltas and Rushing for their care and counsel; also Sister Suny, Audrey, Sandy, Jennifer, Tim, Renee, and all of the special staff on Highland Christus Schumpert’s Telemetry first floor for their gentle touches and attention.
The family has tremendous gratitude for the staff and residents of The Glen-Stiles Apartments for their involvement in Mae’s life for the past 10 years. These were happy, content years and she just loved helping and caring for others and “checking on” those who wanted to visit.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or to The Glen-Stiles Apartments.

Gentry Gamble
Funeral services for Mr. Gentry Grant Gamble, 47, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Roger Hale Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.
Mr. Gamble Passed away Thursday, May 26, at his home after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Bethesda, Md., and was self-employed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Jack W. Gamble of Shreveport; grandfather, Wes Gamble of Minden; grandfather, Mark Reed of Minden; and grandmother, Ola Mae Reed of Minden.
He is survived by two sons, Baron Gamble of Houston, Texas , and Trevor Gamble of Salt Lake City, Utah; mother, Doris R. Dillman and step-father, Edward James Dillman of Shreveport; brothers, Jack Gamble Jr. and wife Adrienne and son, Trey of Round Rock, Texas , and Dr. Matthew Gamble of New Orleans; sister, Jeana Hale and husband, Roger Hale Sr. of Minden, and their children, Roger Hale Jr. and wife Heather and son, Braden of Chicago, Ill., and son Ryan Hale of Searcy, Ark.; daughter, Jamie Hale of Minden; step-mother, Barbara Gamble of Shreveport; two step-sisters, Tracye LaSalle of Shreveport and Debbie Adams and son Chris Townsend of Dallas, Texas ; and grandmother, Loyce Gamble of Minden.
Pallbearers were Joey Terricina, Mike Rowland, Reed Aldridge Sr., Eddy Gentry, Mark Gentry, Kirby Aldridge, Edwin Mabry, Randy Helma and Mark Donahue.
Special thanks to Dr. Anil Nanda, Dr. Sean Troxclaire, Dr. Donna Holder, and the staff at LSU Hospital and to the caring staff of Hospice of Louisiana Willis-Knighton and Ola Mae Pierre.

Virtie M. Miller
A memorial service for Mrs. Virtie Mae O’Bier Miller, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Crider, senior adult pastor at First Baptist Church in Minden, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today, May 31, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miller Passed away Saturday, May 28, in Kilgore, Texas . She was a public school teacher in Webster Parish for 32 years. She graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, and attended the Baptist Bible Institute in New Orleans and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She taught Sunday School and worked with Royal Ambassadors at First Baptist Church in Minden for many years.
She was preceded in death by her much beloved husband, Jesse L. Miller; her parents, Emmett and Fannie O’Bier of Shongaloo; her brothers, Theron and Tilon O’Bier and their wives; and her brother and sister-in-law, Eugene Lee Miller and Isabelle Miller Valentine Higgins.
She is survived by Nancy and Mike Lee of Longview, and Art and Carol Miller of Richardson, Texas ; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and G.G. Miller of Fort Worth, Texas ; sister-in-law, Lena Miller of Springdale, Ark., and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Buckner Retirement Center, Clairmont Nursing Home and The Willows Nursing Home for the excellent care given to her during her last days.

Barbara Ann Griffith
Graveside services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Brewton Griffith, 64, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline with the Rev. Lee Nunley officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, May 30, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griffith, a native of Winn Parish and a resident of Doyline for the past 28 years, Passed away Friday, May 27, in Shreveport. She was a housewife and a member of Point Chapel Assembly of God.
She is survived by two sons, Travis Joe Brimer of Altus, Okla., John Brimer of Shreveport; two daughters, Sharon Elizabeth Rush of Alexander, Ark., Shelia Branch of Bossier City; two sisters, Joy Nell Griffin of Baton Rouge, Martha Raye of Virginia; one brother, Bobby Brewton of Sulfur; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Idelle Hill
Visitation for Idelle Jackson Hill will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 on Wednesday, June 1, at Doyline Methodist Church with funeral services to follow. The Rev. Lysbeth Cockrell will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery on Saint Vincent in Shreveport.
Mrs. Hill was born Agnes Idelle Jackson on April 29, 1908 in Arizona, La., to John and Ethel Jackson , and Passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 22, while visiting her son in south Texas .
Idelle and Jake Hill, who Passed away in 1993, maintained a home on Lake Bistineau and were very active in Doyline Methodist Church and the Doyline Lions Club. They were known as the “Honey Hills” because Honey was practically the only name they called each other.
She is survived by her sister, Eldera Cargill of Baton Rouge; one son, Robert Hill of Portland, Texas ; one daughter, Jogene Dyckman of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Powell, Bob Hicks, Deward Jackson , Joe and Joey Davidson and Randy Hill.

Monda Marlar
Funeral services for Miss Monda V. Marlar, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Kevin Hathorn officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, May 30, at the funeral home.
Miss Marlar, a resident of Sarepta for 37 years, Passed away Friday, May 27, in Shreveport after a sudden illness. She was a graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., and the Oklahoma Baptist School of Nursing. She was a graduate of the La. College in Pineville. She attended the Prairie Hill Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada, and attended the Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas . She received a masters degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Plain Dealing and was a member of the Republican Women of Webster Parish. She worked as an R.N. for many years and served as a Southern Baptist Missionary in Zimbabwee, Africa for 10 years. She also served as an educational consultant in Conway, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.J. and Ila Burns Marlar and a brother, Paul Marlar.
She is survived by a niece, Cathy Cherry; great-nieces, Suzanne Schubert and Laura Davis; a great-great-nephew, Tyler Schubert and a sister-in-law, Alice Sharp, all of Alta Loma, Calif.; also a special and faithful friend, Claudia Matthews of Sarepta.
Pallbearers will be Roland Colvin, E.L. Edwards, Wiley Holley, Jerry Davis, Gerry Granger and Dale Barnett.
