Orzo Feltus
Funeral services for Mr. Orzo Feltus will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, 1808 West Camp Wisdom Road, in Dallas, Texas .
Family hour will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 South S.R.L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas.
Mr. Feltus, a former native of Minden, Passed away in Dallas Saturday, May 21, after a lengthy illness. He was a graduate of Webster High School and a member of the Class of 1957. He moved to Dallas after graduating from high school.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. John Feltus, who organized Feltus Temple Church of God in Christ, located on East Street in Minden, and Adelle Coleman Feltus; his siblings, Mrs. Johnnie Pearl Feltus, Lane, Joe, Henry and Huey P. Feltus.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Faye Feltus and his daughter, Orzo Shatundra Feltus.

Ida LeGendre
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Grace Clay LeGendre, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Athens United Methodist Church in Athens with the Rev. Charles Penuell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Morgan City Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, May 25, at the funeral home.
Mrs. LeGendre, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Athens, Passed away Monday, May 23, in Minden. She was a homemaker, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Archie LeGendre.
She is survived by her husband, Archie LeGendre of Athens and Morgan City; son, Clay LeGendre and wife Judy of Athens; daughter, Linda Gayle Lewis and husband Alan of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; niece, Arlene Clay Messa of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Michelle, Donald, Nancy, Jennifer and Melissa; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Athens United Methodist Church, 14781 Hwy. #9, Athens, LA 71003.

Leslie Ostrander
Mr. Leslie Allen Ostrander, 65, Passed away Monday, May 23, 2005. He was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Shreveport, and was a resident of Minden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Doris Ostrander; and one grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ostrander of Minden; son, Daniel Ostrander and his wife, Sheryl of Minden; daughters, Debby English and her husband, Paul of Paris, Texas , Suzy Smilley of Sacramento, Calif.; step-sons, Jeff Richardson and his wife, Donna of Rome, Ga., Jimmy Richardson of Rome; brother, Billy Hancock and his wife Mary of Castor; and seven grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold.

Betty Davis
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Valentine Davis, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm Self officiating and the Rev. Danny Warbington assisting. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Davis, a native of Dubach and a resident of Minden, Passed away Friday, May 20, in Minden. She was a homemaker. She was devoted to her family and friends. The love and devotion she shared with each of her family members will remain in their hearts always. “Bebby,” you will be missed every day. Be watching for us, we will see you soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.E. and Agnes Valentine.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Sam B. Davis of Minden; son, Ronny Davis and wife Sharyn of Minden; daughter, Sally Davis of Minden; grandchildren, Dana Michael and Lydia, Josh Davis and Angela, Kelly Michael, Brady and Kim Stanberry, Hunter and Brianna; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Hannah Davis, Hannah Michael and Bryant and Brianne Stanberry; brother, C.E. Valentine of Minden; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Rex Colvin, Leon Colvin, Cecil Savacool, Pete Greene, Cliff Smith, Donnie Cox, Steve Roton and Colvin Futrell. Honorary pallbearers were Ponto Burton and J.P. Miller.

Coyie E. Parker
Funeral services for Mr. Coyie E. Parker, 85, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Lewis Chapel in Springhill with the Rev. Garth Collier officiating and the Rev. John Brisco assisting. Burial followed at Forest Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Parker, of Sarepta, Passed away Friday, May 20, at Claiborne Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 30, 1919, in Wilton, Ky., to the late Loranza and Laura Taylor Parker.
He was a roll finisher for 32 and one half years for International Paper and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Springhill. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army as corporal during World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Arthur Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Baker Parker of Sarepta; sons, James E. Parker of Minneapolis, Minn., Joel Parker and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas , and David G. Parker and wife Sheila of Queen City, Texas ; daughter, Linda Ann McCoy and husband Doug of Minden; sister, Carrie Mayne and husband Gennys of Rock Holds, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be E.L. Edwards, Melvin R. Cater, Keith McCullen, Fred Thaxton, Mike Lewis and Harvey Price.

Nancy Baxter
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Kay Baxter, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Tim Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Blockers Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, July 15, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baxter was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Haynesville to Willie P. and Artie Viola Morgan Miller, and Passed away Wednesday, July 13, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas , following a courageous battle with leukemia. She was a former resident of Sarepta, Mansfield, Bella Vista, Ark., and recently returned to Springhill.
She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing from Northwestern State University. After practicing as a registered nurse for seven years, she returned to graduate school at Texas Wesleyan University and earned her certification in nurse anesthesia.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all of those those hearts she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ivan and Davie Ray Miller; and sisters, Nellie Joyce Lindsay and Patsy Ann Rathel.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, George F. Baxter of Springhill; daughters, Cynthia Gills and husband Nathan of Benton, Ark., Karen Beabout and husband Brad of Shreveport, Rachel Heard and husband Spencer of Shreveport; sons, Darryl Baxter and wife Sharon of Stamps, Ark., Kevin Baxter and wife Sarah of Shreveport; sister, Peggy Smith of Slaughters, Ky.; brother, James Miller of Dixon, Ky.; and 13 grandchildren whom she adored.
Pallbearers will be James Mitchell, David Mitchell, Michael Bacon, Butch Keith, James Grice and Cliff Timmers. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Chambless, Danny Curtis, Dr. Tommy Tinker and Dr. Tom Tolomeo.

Evelyn S. Barthelemy
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Shadow Barthelemy will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Lake Lawn Funeral Home in New Orleans.
Mrs. Barthelemy, formerly of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, July 13, in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 8, 1909 in Mansfield, where Mr. Shadow established his first nursery. In 1909, the family moved near Dubberly. After college, Mrs. Barthelemy moved to New Orleans and was employed by A&P Foods as a stenographer.
Later, she married Dr. Clyde Barthelemy. Her hobby was painting in both pastels and oils. She attended many workshops both in the U.S. and abroad. She provided a building, Anglade B. Gallery, in the French Quarter for other artists to display their work.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and was president of the New Orleans Dental Association. She served on the board for State and National and established the Greater New Orleans Art League.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie; father, William; four brothers, M.J., Robert, Ivan and Weston; and one sister, Alma.
She is survived by two sisters, Bertha Mattingly of Minden; Wilma Thaller of New Orlenas; sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Shado of Shreveport; and many nieces and nephews.

Morris Jackson Sr.
Funeral services for Deacon Morris Jackson Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline. Burial will follow at Jenkins Community Cemetery in Doyline.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, from 10 until 11 a.m.
Mr. Jackson was born June 2, 1920 in Doyline, to the Rev. Joe Jackson and Corea Jefferson Jackson . He shared the love and guidance of his parents with five sisters and four brothers.
He was inducted into the Army in November 1942. He was a proud World War II veteran and a retired bus driver of the Webster Parish School System.
He joined Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He was ordained a deacon at Zion Hill in 1957, and served faithfully until his health began to fail.
He married Ruth Jones Jackson on May 17, 1943, and they had nine children. Mr. Jackson Passed away Monday, July 11, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Jackson ; a son, Louis; granddaughter, Tay Tay; parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
He is survived by his children, Lula Fuller and husband George, Annie Ruth Richardson and husband James, Morris Jackson Jr. and wife Bennie, Walter Jackson and wife Clementine, Charles Jackson and wife Debra, Noland Jackson , Wendell Jackson and wife Daphne, and Laura Hardy; daughter-in-law, Johnetta Jackson ; two sisters, Odessa Stubblefield and Pearline Byers; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rev. Ray Sewell
Funeral services for the Rev. Raymond David Sewell, 49, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Sheppard Heights Assembly of God with the Rev. Douglas Fullenwider officiating and the Rev. Alvin Eden and the Rev. Leslie Hunter assisting. Burial will follow in Waxahachie, Texas , under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, at the funeral home.
Rev. Sewell Passed away Wednesday, July 13, in Minden, and was born in Waurika, Okla. He was a resident of Minden, and the pastor of Sheppard Heights Assembly of God Church in Minden.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Lynn Conant Sewell; one son, Timothy Daniel Sewell; one daughter, Bethany Dawn Sewell, all of Minden; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sewell of St. Jo, Texas ; grandmother, Metta Miller of St. Jo; sisters, Lillie Sewell of Gainsville, Texas , and Martha Roy and husband Andrew of Prattville, Ala.; brothers, Lonnie Sewell and wife Gail of Waxahachie, Roy Sewell and wife Lennie of Gainsville, Johnny Sewell of St. Jo, and Harold Sewell and wife Lisa of St. Jo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Hunter, the Rev. Tom Hammel, the Rev. Jim Reid, Keith Ranck, Eddie Prince and Kevin Conant.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sheppard Heights Assembly of God for missions.

Dorothy L. Washington
A memorial services for Mrs. Dorothy L. Washington will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1819 N. Washington Avenue in Dallas, Texas . Services are under the direction of North Dallas Funeral Home in Farmers Branch, Texas .
Mrs. Washington Passed away Saturday, July 9, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. She was born Nov. 4, 1941 in Montgomery, Ala., to the late parents of Mr. Jack and Mrs. Jessie Jones in Minden. Mrs. Washington fought a long, strong battle against cancer with the same diligence she used in life.
Mrs. Washington was a dedicated federal government employee more than 16 years in which she worked for the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, United States Postal Service, NORAD, Social Security and VA Hospital among other government entities.
She wed SGT Willie T. Washington who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Kevin C. Washington , Forsythia L. Hopkins, granddaughter Tori D. Hopkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Charles Scaggs
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Alexander Scaggs will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter and the Rev. Bill Crider officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, July 12, at the funeral home.
Mr. Scaggs Passed away Sunday, July 10, at Minden Medical Center. He was born May 9, 1916, in Bonhams Landing, Texas . He attended in Haynesville and was a 1946 graduate of Louisiana Polytechnic Institute. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He retired from the International Paper Company in Springhill after 37 years of employment. Mr. Scaggs resided in Minden for 69 years and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Harry Scaggs.
He is survived by his brother, James Daniel Scaggs and wife Dorothy; nephew, Charles Terry Scaggs and wife Lori; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Lowery, Everett Ward, John Turner, Robert Slack and Larry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Meadowview Health and Rehab, the third floor nurses at Minden Medical Center and Dr. Carl Hines.

Chuck Arnett
Graveside services will be held for Mr. Charles M. “Chuck” Arnett, 46, at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, July 7, at the funeral home.
Mr. Arnett was born Nov. 12, 1958 at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City and Passed away July 6, in Shreveport following a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elton William Caswell.
Mr. Arnett is survived by his mother, Barbara Caswell of Minden; one brother, Dr. John Caswell and his wife, Rebecca of Fayetteville, Ark., and one niece, Kimberly Anne Caswell.
Pallbearers will be Mark Gibson, Fred Gibson, Marcus Gibson, David Mouser, Kenneth Mouser and Jim Faircloth.
