Lucille Culbertson
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Watson Culbertson, 94, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, June 14, 2005, at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas , with Dr. Bill Everett of Carthage, Texas , officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Culbertson Passed away Saturday, June 11, at her home in Arlington, where she had lived the last four years. She was born to Joe and Jewel Watson Sept. 20, 1910, in Arcadia. She married Grier Culbertson June 15, 1928, in Minden. She was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church for 35 years.
She is survived by her children, Helen Taylor and husband, Tom of Arlington, Melba Austin of Arlington, Genie Hermann and husband, Pete of Mansfield and Robert Culbertson and wife, Jeanne of Arlington; brother, Eugene Watson of San Antonio, Texas ; sister, Joann Simpson of Crossett, Ark.; special sisters-in-law, Christelle Watson of Minden and Helen Watson of San Antonio. She will also be missed by 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Oliver
Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Oliver, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Valley Peace Baptist Church in Cotton Valley. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.

Leslie and Barbara Ostrander
Funeral services for Mr. Leslie and Mrs. Barbara Ostrander will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Minden with Father Karl Daigle officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, at the church.
Mr. Ostrander, 65, was born Sept. 11, 1939, and Passed away May 23.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Doris Ostrander and one grandson.
He is survived by one son, Daniel Ostrander and wife Sheryl of Minden; two daughters, Debby Englis and husband Paul of Paris, Texas , and Suzy Smilley of Sacramento, Calif.; and one brother, Billy Hancock and wife Mary of Castor.
Mrs. Ostrander, 67, was born Feb. 4, 1937, and Passed away Sunday, June 12.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Brett Steven Richardson.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Richardson and wife Donna, and Jimmy Richardson, all of Rome, Ga.; one sister, Shirley Martineau and husband Dennis of Igo, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Ostrander are also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Juanita Pittman Strickland
Funeral services for Juanita Pittman Strickland were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Monday, June 13, 2005, at Rose-neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial was to follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly.
Visitation was to be held from 5 until 9 p.m., Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12.
Mrs. Strickland was born August 23, 1940 in Webster Parish. She graduated from Dubberly High School and obtained her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She spent many years an as emergency care nurse at Schumpert Medical Center where she was know for the excellent care she provided and her unique sense of humor. She was an instructor at the NSU School of Nursing prior to retiring to open a business with her husband in Bossier City. She was a diplomat with the Bossier City Chamber of Commerce for several years. In 2002, she and her husband retired from the business community to travel extensively with the Good Sam Motor Home Association. She was very active in charity work through Good Sam. She was an avid fundraiser for Dogs for the Deaf and St. Jude’s, as these were charities closest to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve Edward and Clotile Pittman; and sister Shirley Pittman Smiley.
She is survived by her husband for 44 years, Jerry Strickland of Lake Charles; daughter, Susan Strickland of Shreveport; 14 siblings, Thelma P. Walker, Steve Edward Pittman Jr., Mary Pittman Morrison, Fran P. Jones, Elbert Pittman, Billy Pittman Linda P. Bohn, Victoria P. Kennedy, Marc Pittman, Karon P. Hanushek, Julia P. Baldwin, Kathaleen Pittman, Michelle Pittman and Lynn Pittman-Cooley; and numerous nieces, nephews and aunts.
She was a dedicated and fun-loving wife and amazing sister. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor and flashing blue eyes. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center staff and LSU Health Sciences Center Critical Care staff.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Irma Caraway Thompson Staton
Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Caraway Thompson Staton, 83, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Minden Rose-Neath Chapel with the Rev. Melton Protho officiating. Burial will follow at Old Shongaloo Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Staton, a native of Cotton Valey and resident of Haughton Passed away Sunday, June 11, in Shreveport. She was a retired admissions clerk at LSU Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Carmen Thompson, and second husband Cliff Staton; parents, Gentry and Gertrude Carraway; and brothers, John Carraway and Ben Carraway.
She is survived by son James “Jim” Thompson and wife Irene; daughters, Sandra T. Sischo and husband, Lyle, Sue T. Hedges and Rhonda T. Clay; sisters, Murriel Staton, Helen Layssard, Shirley Kried, Peggy Adkins and Quinnie Spell; brother, J.W. Carraway; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Brunson
Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Franklin Brunson, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Hope Missionary Baptist Church near Fryeburg. Burial will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, June 10, at the funeral home.
Mr. Brunson Passed away at home surrounded by four generations of his family on Wednesday, June 8. He was born April 14, 1923, in Heflin and attended Heflin High School, graduating in 1941. He served in the United States Army with the 36th Infantry, Texas Division, from 1942 until 1945, touring Italy and France. He worked 40 years operating heavy equipment until his retirement in 1985. Lawrence was a lifelong member of Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin Frank and Fannie Brunson; brothers, Lewis D. and Johnny Frank Brunson; and daughter, Linda Sue Brunson, all of Heflin.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Daphine B. Brunson; daughter, Martha White and husband Claude; daughter, Regina C. Brunson of Heflin; grandchildren, John Wesley White and wife Serena, Emily Ann White , Adam Brunson Weaver and wife Kelly, Amanda Dianne Weaver; great-grandchildren, Grady and Reece Weaver, all of Shreveport; sister-in-law, Laura Brunson; and niece, Dianne T. Brunson of Heflin.
A special thanks to Christus Schumpert Hospice, Simin Namdari, Robyn Watkins, Robin Louke and Valerie Johnson . A special thanks also goes to Dr. Richard Barnett for 20 years of loving care. Lawrence will be remembered as a gentle, kind husband, father, grandparent, uncle and friend.

Rosemary Gardner
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosemary Gardner, 59, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Monroe with the Rev. Quincy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at J.S. Clark Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner Passed away Thursday, June 2.
She is survived by one daughter, Venetta Gardner-Rainey; one son, Kenneth R. Gardner; and a host of family and friends.

James Garland Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. James Milton “Jim” Garland Jr., 63, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Carolyn Michaels officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, located on Lewisville Road.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 10, at the funeral home.
Mr. Garland Passed away Tuesday, June 7, in Doyline. He was born Nov. 23, 1941, in Minden. Jim served and played football in the Air Force from 1961 until 1964. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern Louisiana University in 1967. In 1996, he retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation after 30 years of service. After retiring, Jim worked part-time for Webster Parish, and was a full-time cattleman and a master farrier. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jim was a compassionate man and a loyal friend who appreciated hard work and honest achievement. He was deservedly loved and respected by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Milton Garland Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Condon Garland of Minden; his mother, Hattie Kathlene Garland of Minden; one brother, Tom Garland and wife Sharon of Minden; two sons, Robert and wife Kathleen of Yorkville, Ill., and Jim Bob Garland and wife Ashley of Dallas, Texas ; daughter, Amy Angel and husband Bart of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn Garland of Yorkville; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Adams, Reed Bogus, Randy Thomas, Sam Condon, Tommy Garland, Jeffrey Garland, Austin Askew and Kendall Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be “The Wild Bunch” — Charles Hortman, Steven Askew, Britt Synco, Danny Nixon, Brad Phillips, Dude Haley, John L. Ferguson and the employees of the Webster Parish Police Jury.
In lieu of flowers, the Garland family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Jim Garland, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.saintjude.org/tribute or 1-800-873-6983).

Juanita Strickland
Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Pittman Strickland, 64, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m., Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strickland Passed away Thursday, June 9, and was born Aug. 23, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clotile Pittman; and her sister, Shirley P. Smiley.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Strickland; daughter, Susan Strickland; siblings, Thelma P. Walker, Steve Edward Pittman Jr., Mary Pittman Morrison, Fran P. Jones, Elbert Pittman, Billy Pittman, Linda P. Bohn, Victoria P. Kennedy, Marc Pittman, Karon P. Hanushek, Julia P. Baldwin, Kathaleen Pittman, Michelle Pittman and Lynn Pittman-Cooley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Infant Thomas
Graveside services for the infant of Dametricka Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Haynesville. Services are under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden.
Infant Thomas Passed away Thursday, June 9, at Minden Medical Center.

Jewel B. Bryce
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel B. Bryce, 93, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Andrew Chapel Cemetery in Heflin.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 9, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bryce, a native of Dierks, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 7, in Minden. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie G. Bryce Sr.; sons, Lonnie G. Bryce Jr. and James Franklin Bryce; and daughter, Lois Lafay Bryce.
She is survived by her daughters, Winnie B. Logan of Minden, Verna Pair of Picayune, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Beverly Bryce of Minden; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Logan, Timmy Pair, Brian Pair, Kenneth Bryce, Kary Bryce and Carter Lawrence.

Rosemary Gardner
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosemary Gardner, 59, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Quincy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at J.S. Clark Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner Passed away Thursday, June 2.
She is survived by one daughter, Venetta Gardner-Rainey; one son, Kenneth R. Gardner; and a host of family and friends.

Joyce Ann Ingram
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Ann Ingram, 62, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with the Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Joyner. interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., today, June 9, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ingram was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Warren, Ark., to Aubrey Lee and Mauriece Barber Temple. She Passed away Tuesday, June 7, in Bossier City following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ingram was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Temple and her brother-in-law, Bill Karriker.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby G. Ingram of Minden; sons, John A. Chandler and wife, Renee of Stonewall, and Gary Leggett of Pineville, ; step-sons, Bobby Ingram, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Birmingham, Ala., Brian Ingram of Winnsboro, and Keith Ingram and wife, Shannon of Monroe; sisters, Jackie Karriker of Gibsland, and Madge Davis and husband, Larry of Elm Grove, ; 11 grandchildren, Richard Chandler, Colby Chandler, Katelynn Chandler, Christian Leggett, Charles Leggett, Gary Leggett, Jr., April Ingram, Daniel Ingram, Patrick Ingram, Brooke Ingram and Brianna Ingram; and three special nieces, Pam Shaw, Debbie Henry and Meredith Morrison.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Ingram, Jr., Brian Ingram, Keith Ingram, Larry Davis, Richard Chandler and Ronnie Karriker.

Kirby Davison
Funeral services for Mrs. Kirby McIntyre Davison will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be open Friday, June 10, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her three sons, Leonard Davison and wife Connie, John L. Davison and wife Della, and Bobbie Davison and wife Geraldine; one daughter, Earestine McClinton; one daughter-in-law, Francis Davison; one brother; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; 30 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; adopted son, Frank Dillard; a special friend, Sarah Hall; and a host of family and friends.
