Graveside services for Jackie Ben West Jr., 36, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, July 22, 2005, in the Springhill Cemetery with the Rev. David Harrell officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Springhill.
Visitation began Thursday at 5 p.m.
Mr. West was born Nov. 5, 1968 in Morgan City to Jackie Ben and Lana Marie Lipari West and Passed away July 18, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Okla., following an accident. He was a former resident of Springhill and resident of Oklahoma City for the past five years. He as a member of Central Baptist Church and a carpenter working construction for 18 years.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Luke Lipari, and paternal grandfather, Floyd West.
He is survived by a daughter, Kyle Marie West of Yukon, Okla.; parents, Jackie Ben and Lana Lipari West of Springhill; brother, Chad Joseph West of Springhill; maternal grandmother, Virginia Lipari of Patterson; paternal grandmother, Bennie Webb of Ardmore, Okla.; and a host of loving aunts and uncles.

Ardis Lee Kinsey
Services for Mr. Ardis Lee Kinsey will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at St. John Divine Baptist Church, Heflin. Burial will follow at Pringle Cemetery in Minden.

Eva E. McGlothen
Services for Mrs. Eva E. McGlothen will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Blue Run Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Minden.

Alice Faye Williams
Services for Mrs. Alice Faye Williams will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Heflin.

James Bunn Ivy
Funeral services for Mr. James Bunn Ivy, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Campground Presbyterian Church in Hampton, Ark. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce, Ark.
Mr. Ivy, otherwise known at “Daddy Bunn,” was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Hampton, Ark. He Passed away July 18, 2005, in Minden.
Mr. Ivy was a retired factory worker and farmer. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend and was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Addys W. Ivy, and his second wife, Julia M. Ivy; his parents, Frank and Emma Ivy; two brothers, Jesse and Neil Ivy; his twin sister, Burt Ivy; and his son, Wayne Ivy.
He is survived by one son, Frank Ivy and his wife, Pam; a daughter-in-law, Jeannette Ivy; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Butch Blann, Raymond Byrd, John McCann, William McCann, Caroll Newton and Ricky Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Harrell First United Methodist Church of Harrell, Ark. or North Acres Baptist Church of Minden.

Lettie Pearl Frazier
Funeral services for Mrs. Lettie Pearl Frazier, 79, will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Elizabeth Fall Gospel Baptist Church in Coushatta, with the Rev. Richard Logan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frazier Passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005.

James Bunn Ivy
Funeral services for Mr. James Bunn Ivy, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Campground Presbyterian Church in Hampton, Ark. George Curtis Walker
Funeral services for Mr. George Curtis Walker, 89, of Cotton Valley, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Kenneth Dehart, assisted by the Revs. Dewey Bass, Bob Rhymes and T.W. Barnes, officiating.
Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Minden. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2005.
Mr. Walker Passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005. He was born in Plain Dealing and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a retired bleach plant operator for International Paper Co.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Brunson Walker.
He is survived by two sons, Curtis Glynn Walker and wife Beth of Cotton Valley and Ron Walker and wife Sandy of Bossier City; one daughter, Dianne Edwards and husband Billy of Sarepta; two sisters, Gladys Oller of New Iberia and Marion Jenkins and husband Bub of Atlanta, Texas ; four brothers, J.C. Walker of San Diego, Ca., Gus Walker and wife Ethel of Springhill, Bobby Walker and wife Jean of Cotton Valley and Charley Walker and wife Jo Ann of San Antonio, Texas ; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friend and caregiver, Mae Kierbow.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Martin, Rickey Walker, Jeffrey Walker, Barry Walker, Brandon Cox and Kevin Walker.

Joyce Whitmire Dillon
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Whitmire Dillon were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Miss. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
Mrs. Dillon Passed away Thursday, July 14. She was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Nacogdoches, Texas , to Courtland E. and Frances Whitmire. She and her husband G.W. both finished high school at Athens where they lived and all four of their children were born. Working for Skelley Oil Company, they were transferred to from Athens to Columbia, Miss., to Duncan, Okla., to Jal, N.M., to Houma, then to Columbia where Mrs. Dillon has resided for 33 years.
Mrs. Dillon was employed by the Marion County Hospital, Pioneer Aerospace and retired from the United States Census Bureau. She has delighted children and parents for many years with her open house decorations at Halloween and Christmas. She also loved working in her yard.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, G.W. Dillon; and a son, Michael Dillon.
She is survived by three children, Karen Smith of Hattiesburg, Miss., Mark Dillon of Mobile, Ala., Jan Clark of Columbia, Miss.; sister, Gayle Whitmire Sones of Nacogdoches, Texas ; sister-in-law Melba Dillon McCreorey, formerly of Minden and now of Hattiesburg, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Wade Maddox
Funeral services for Jimmy Wade Maddox, 66, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, Monday, July 18 at the funeral home.
Mr. Maddox went to meet his heavenly father Friday, July 15, after stepping into the ring to fight his last fight.
Mr. Maddox was born in Haynesville to Jim E. and Zula Maddox of Waldo, Ark. He was a retired salesman with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim E. and Zula Maddox.
He is survived by wife, Jacqueline Maddox; sons, Andrew W. Maddox and wife Jemmie, Thomas E. Maddox and wife Alita; daughter, Stacey R. Johnson and husband Kevin; sister, Elizabeth Debusk; brother, Donald F. Maddox; grandchildren, Trey Waller, T.J. Waller, Krystal Davis, Niki Maddox, Brittney Maddox, Kevin Johnson Jr., Jacob Maddox, Drew Maddox, Kyle Johnson , Aaron Caskey and Kaila Johnson ; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Davis (Nanny).
Pallbearers will be Trey Waller, T.J. Waller, Kevin Johnson Jr., Drew Maddox, Jacob Maddox, Kyle Johnson , Aaron Caskey, Marvin Jones, Harold Roton and Guy Mandino.
Honorary pallbearers will be Krystal Davis, Niki Maddox, Brittney Maddox and Kaila Johnson .

Katherine Carter
Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Ballard Carter, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Roy Strother officiating. Burial will follow at Doyline Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter, a native of Meridian and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, August 23, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of North Acres Baptist Church in Minden.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Page and wife Mitzi of Turlock, Calif., and Dennis Page and wife Carolyn of Haughton; two daughters, Charlotte P. Kopf of Minden and Dianna Brewer of Doyline; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Julian Long
A mass of Christian burial for Mr. Julian Edward Long, 86, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Pineville with the Rev. Kenneth Roy officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Pineville.
Mr. Long, of Pineville, Passed away Tuesday, August 16, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
He graduated from Menard High School in 1937 and attended LSU. He worked at the United States Post Office from 1940-1941. He began his career as a Fuller Brush salesman. Thereafter, he founded his own company, Long’s Preferred Products of Alexandria in 1950, which evolved from a backyard business to a five-branch location company, employing more than 85 people.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a sergeant with the 85th Infantry Division. He was the recipient of the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Long was a member of the VFW and the Pineville’s Lion Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Katherine Brittain Long and his parents, Apollos David and Emma Frank Long.
He is survived by his wife June Lambard Long of Pineville; his son, Julian W. Long and wife Eva of Alexandria; his step-sons, Allen “Skip” Lambard and wife Peggy of Haughton, and Dr. Warren Lambard and his wife Lark of Minden; his step-daughter, Lisa Norman and husband Stephen of Alexandria; grandchildren, Christiaan Long of Baton Rouge and Jillian Long of Shreveport; and step-grandchildren, Catherine, Laura, Matthew, and Melissa Norman, Brooke Kyle, Luke Lambard and Piper Norton.
Pallbearers were Christiaan Long, Matthew Norman, Jimmy Mock, Jud Reynolds, Allen Lambard and Tommy Simpson.

Jeffery Garrett
Mr. Jeffery Garrett, a resident of Pea Ridge, Ark., Passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport after a tragic accident. He was cremated and his remains will be buried in Colorado.
Garrett was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a purple heart recipient for his efforts in Grenada. He was an organ donor.
He is survived by his mother, Tommie Garrett of Minden; two sons, Matt and Richard Garrett; two daughters, Erica Garrett and Lexie Rae Garrett; and one sister, Melanie.

Gurlia Shepherd
Funeral services for Mrs. Gurlia Me Moore Shepherd, 78, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Jamestown with the Rev. Kenneth W. Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Ringgold.
Visitation will be held today, August 19, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shepherd, a resident of Ringgold for 31 years, Passed away Friday, August 12, at Willis-Knighton North Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Cullen.
She is survived by her children, Mattie L. Howard and husband Robert of Ringgold, James Shepherd and wife Elaine of Minden; one sister, Mira M. Hall of Long Island City, N.Y.; one brother, Oliver George (O.G.) Moore of Minden; five grandchildren, Geraldine H. Perkins and husband Jerald of Los Angeles, Calif., Thomas R. Howard and wife Jasmine of Ringgold, Fitzgerald Shepherd and wife Tamela of Carbondale, Ill., Charolette Shepherd-Kelly of Heflin, and Sherry L. Howard of Ringgold; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Gray of Dallas, Texas , and Sheila Bailey of Minden; 10 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three nieces; two nephews; and a host of family and friends.
The Shepherd and Howard families would like to thank the fourth and fifth floor ICU, nurses and doctors at Willis-Knighton North Hospital; Minden Medical Center emergency room staff and Ringgold Nursing Home staff.

Mildred Hampton
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred McGlothen Hampton will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bienville. Burial will follow at St. Duty Cemetery in Arcadia under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hampton Passed away Thursday, August 11. She was born on Sept. 30, 1925, to the late Winnfield McGlothen Sr. and Levia McGlothen in Bienville Parish.
She was preceded in death by three children, Ronnie, Johnnie and Bonnie Hampton; three sisters, Lorece McGlothen, Mary Simpson, Lucille Sneed; and one brother, Curtis McGlothen.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Will T. Hampton of Arcadia; one daughter, Linda Hampton of Arcadia; one son, Clinton Hampton and his wife Barbara of Houston, Texas ; two sisters, Clevia Fuller and Jeannie Heath of Houston; two brothers, Winnfield McGlothen Jr. and his wife Gloria of Houston, Joe McGlothen and his wife Georgia of Gibsland; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Brenda Long
Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Nell Long, 63, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Walnut Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Jake Vandenberg and the Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Branch Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Long was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Springhill to Melvin Oswald and Edna Lula Nelson Thurman. She Passed away Tuesday, August 16, in Shreveport following a short illness. She was a resident of Springhill, a member of Walnut Road Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lou Thurman and her granddaughter, Melanie Humphrey.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Floyd F. Long of Springhill; daughter, Bonnie Humphrey and husband Don of Waskom, Texas ; sons, John Long and wife Rhonda of Greers Ferry, Ark., Danny Long of Huxley, Texas ; brothers, Phillip Thurman and wife Dawn of Springhill, Mike Thurman and wife Mary of Bossier City; and grandchildren, Aaron Humphrey, Caleb Long, Hannah Long, Jordan Long and Joshua Long.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Humphrey, Don Humphrey, Roger Matre, Harry Glen Nelson, Jimmy Butler and Mark Schildroth.
The family wishes to thank the caring doctors and staff of Christus Schumpert Medical Center and the Grace Home of Shreveport for their kindness and compassionate care of our family.
