OAK GROVE - Funeral services for Frances McLemore, 68, of Pioneer, La., were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2000 at the Good Will Baptist Church in Oak Grove, with the Rev. Hersholt Ford officiating. Burial followed in the Forest Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes.
Mrs. McLemore died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at the North Monroe Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Survivors include her parents, Chester Crews and his wife, Vera, of Pioneer, LA and Clara Wagley of Mer Rouge, LA; children - Gwen Smith and her husband, Carey, of Bastrop, LA, Richard McLemore and his wife, Reba, of Pioneer, LA, Alice Terracina and Chris Connelly of Monroe, LA; and Lessie Blankenship and her husband, Brent, of Daphne, AL; grandchildren - Michelle, Fordie, Chanah, Charey, Carla, Melissa, Morgan, Thomas “Bear”, Jonathan Bitt, Blaise, Bethany, Seth and Grace; great grandchildren - Elizabeth, Hilary, Kereston, Fordie, Gavin and Connor; a brother, Dee Crews of Pioneer, LA; sisters - Rosemary LaCaze of Pioneer, LA and Suzette Henry of Olive Branch, MS; step sisters - Janice Spanna nd Ruby Joyce Followill; and a step brother, Bobby Casteel.
Serving as pallbearers were Paul Ratcliff, DeLaney Lewis, Bobby Thompson, Chuck Calvert, Ed McGee and Dave McIntosh. Honorary pallbearer was Carroll Fields.

McMANUS, Myrtle Maloy
RAYVILLE - Funeral services for Myrtle Maloy McManus, 87, of Bastrop, La., were held at the Brown-Holley Funeral Home Chapel in Rayville, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2000, with the Revs. Gregg Nichols and James Andrews officiating. Burial followed in the Greer Cemetery near Rayville, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes of Rayville.
Mrs. McManus died June 8, 2000. She was a member of the Mer Rouge Pentecostal Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons - David V. McManus and his wife, Annette, of Archibald, LA and Alton R. McManus and his wife, Helen, of Sterlington, LA; her daughters - Doris Shirley of Winnsboro, LA, Audrey Faye Rector and her husband, Richard, of West Plaine, MO, Maydell Watson and her husband, Theo, of Tallulah, LA and Jeraldean Rhodes and her husband, Thomas, of Bastrop, LA; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were David Arnold, Larry McManus, Timmy McManus, Gary McManus, Thomas Glen Rhodes, Jerry Lynn Rhodes, Thelda McManus and Terral Watson.

MANGHAM, Virginia Duvall Jordan
RAYVILLE - Virginia Duvall Jordan Mangham departed from this life on Thursday, July 6, 2000. She was the daughter of Dr. Francis Victor Jordan and Jennie Hampton Jordan, having been born in Oak Ridge, La., on July 5, 1912.
Services were held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Rayville, La. Mr. W. L. Strong officiated the service and interment was in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Mangham graduated from Louisiana Tech University after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. While there, she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Fraternity and Kappa Delta Social Sorority. She then studied for her Masters at Louisiana State University.
She taught in the Richland Parish school system for 32 years. For several years, she was in charge of the first recreation facility in Rayville.
Her husband, Hervey Slaughter Mangham, preceded her in death, and she became the publisher of the Richland Beacon-News, which had been in his family since 1869.
Mrs. Mangham was a member of the St. David’s Episcopal Church, Boeuf River Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Town and Country Club, Richland Parish Retired Teachers Association and St. Hilda’s Auxiliary of the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Francis Victor Jordan; brothers - John Thomas Jordan Sr. and Harrison Jordan III; and a great niece, Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Jordan Barthel.
Survivors are her sister, Mrs. Mary Frances Jordan Shamblin of Rayville, LA; nephews - Francis Victor Jordan II, John Thomas Jordan Jr., Francis Victor Jordan III and Christopher Allen Jordan, all of Rayville, LA, and Harrison Kelly Jordan of Beaumont, TX, Harrison William Jordan of Lake Charles, LA and Marc Kevin Jordan of Austin, TX; nieces - Dr. Mary Alta Shamblin Cate and Jennifer Duvall Cate Hawkins of Houston, TX, Linda Jordan Hudson and Elizabeth Miller Stamper of Monroe, LA and Miss Amelia Grace Jordan of Rayville.
Pallbearers were her nephews and great nephews: Francis Victor Jordan II, Francis Victor Jordan III, Christopher Allen Jordan, John Thomas Jordan Jr., Harrison Kelly Jordan, Harrison William Jordan, David Mangham Trousdale and William R. Coenen Jr.
Memorials may be sent to St. David’s Episcopal Church in Rayville.

MARBLE, James L. "Red" Sr.
RAYVILLE - Funeral services for James L. “Red” Marble Sr., 83, of Rayville, La., were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2000, at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church near Rayville, with the Revs. Harold Spillers and Benton Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Start Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes of Rayville.
Mr. Marble died June 27, 2000. He was a carpenter and a World War II Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons and their wives - James and Lucille Marble of Oak Ridge, LA, Jesse and Ola Marble of Start, LA, Hughie and Margie Marble of Start, LA, Berryman and Ruthie Marble of Rayville, LA, Jerry and Kim Marble of Rayville, LA and Cecil M. Marble of Start, LA; his daughters - Alice Naylor of Copway, AR and Margaret Marble of Oak Ridge, LA; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Jamie Marble, Frankie Marble, Matt Marble, Doug Marble, Calvin Marble, Tim Marble, Amos Marble and Tim Mondey.

MITCHELL, James L. “Ted”
RAYVILLE - Funeral services for James Lance “Ted” Mitchell, 21, of Rayville, La., were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2000, at the Brown-Holley Funeral Home Chapel witht he Rev. Terry Ganey officiating. Burial followed in the Newton Cemetery near Delhi, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes.
Mr. Mitchell died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. He attended Glad Tiding Church in Rayville, where he was baptized September 6, 1996.
Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his Granny, Ina Byrd Walker.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Linda and Lonnie (Ronnie) Hatton of Liddieville, LA; his father, R. D. Mitchell of Rayville, LA; his sisters and brother-in-law - Amy and Dennis Oliver of Crowville, LA, Jeanie Powell of Monroe, LA and Linda Hutson of West Monroe, LA; his step-brothers, Joel Hatton of Crowville, LA and Jeff Hatton of Liddieville, LA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special second family - Stephanie and Troy Coston Sr., Troy Coston Jr., Marshall and “Trey” Coston, and his very special little friend Muffy, his dog.
Serving as pallbearers were Troy Coston Jr., Billy Patrick, Michael Collins, Rick Magnelli, Aaron Duncan and Brett Roane. Honorary pallbearer was Marshall Coston.

MITCHELL, James Stanley Sr.
DELHI - Funeral services for James Stanley Mitchell Sr., 70, of Judsonia, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2000 at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Delhi with the Revs. Danny Babcock and Leonard Garlington officiating. Burial followed in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.
Mr. Mitchell was born November 19, 1929 in Posey County, Indiana, and died May 27, 2000 at the White County Medical Center in Searcy, Ark.
Bro. Mitchell was a Navy and Marine veteran. He was a retired Missionary Baptist Minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Stanley Mitchell and Geraldine Fisher Mitchell, and by two siblings -- Billy J. Mitchell and Doris Jean Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel McPherson Mitchell of Judsonia, AR; a son, James Stanley Mitchell Jr. of Oak Grove, LA; a daughter, Delores Guilbeaux of Houston, TX; his grandchildren - Steven Mitchell, James Michael Mitchell, Jeremy Haltom, Nancy Hickman, Susan Phelps; a brother, Roy mitchell of Lake Providence, LA; six great grandchildren and a beloved friend, Deborah Lynn Nixon of Judsonia, AR.
Serving as pallbearers were Glynn David Roberts, Glen Etheridge, Charles Brantley, E. P. Nixon Jr., Wardell Nixon, Phillip W. Woods on, Kennard Welch and Darrell Nixon. Honorary pallbearers were Leon Gammill, H. B. Peevehouse, Shorty Babcock and Cecil Skinner.
Any planned memorials may be made to the White County Medical Foundation at 3214 E. Race Ave., Searcy AR 72143.

MOORE, Charles Edgar
DELHI- Funeral services for Charles Edgar Moore, 67, of Delhi, La., were held at the Delhi Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2000. The Rev. Paul Lipe officiated the service.
Burial followed in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.
Mr. Moore was born June 17, 1932 in Delhi and died June 12, 2000 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Nell O’Neal Moore, his father, George Edgar Moore, and by a grandson, Charles Thomas Moore.
Survivors include his special friend, Billye Milner of Shreveport, LA; his children - Dane Moore and his wife, Angie, of Rayville, LA; Marti Moore of Delhi, LA, and Melissa Hutchinson and her husband, Butch, of Delhi, LA; grandchildren - Mike Rainwater, Casie Rainwater, Alex Moore, Brandon Hutchinson, Joseph Walker and Katie Jo Hutchinson; his mother, Velma Arlone Stephens Moore Martin Christian of Tallulah, LA; his brother-in-law, Roy O’Neal of Bossier, LA; his sisters - Maxine Mooksfield and her husband, Don, of Temple, TX, and Polly Christian and her husband, John, of Tallulah, LA.
Serving as pallbearers were Doyle McEacharn, Francis Thompson, David McEacharn, Clyde Thompson, Buddy Black, Hal Senn, Charlie Johnston and Joe Meeks.
Honorary pallbearers were Pete McEacharn, Sammy Rossier, Floyd Bruce Boughton, Theo Coenen and Joe Mac O’Neal.
Any planned memorials may be made to the Delhi Presbyterian Church or to Riverfield Academy.

MURRAY, Odis Ray "Johnny"
MANGHAM - Funeral services for Odis Ray “Johnny” Murray, 56, of St. Rose, La., were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2000, at the Calvary Baptist Church near Mangham, with the Revs. J. W. Allen and Johnny Mathis officiating. Burial followed in the Hewitt Cemetery, under the direction of Riser Funeral Homes of Winnsboro.
Mr. Murray died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, La. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Murray; and by his parents, Sing and Clara Murray.
Survivors include his children - Tommy R. Murray of St. Amant, LA and Barbara M. Powers of Maurepas, LA; his grandchildren, Tracy and Jamie; and a sister, Annie Margaret Martin of Hebert, LA and Tom A. Murray of St. Rose, LA.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Jones, Wesley Jones, Brian Patterson, Huey Patterson, Denny Polk, Mike Polk and Kenneth Martin.

PAYNE, Calvin Lee
RAYVILLE - Funeral services for Calvin Lee Payne, 49, of Rayville, La., were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Shady Grove Church of God near Holly Ridge, La., with Sisters Annie Mae Farmer and Alice Stevens officiating. Burial followed in the McKnight Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes of Rayville.
Mr. Payne died July 18, 2000. He was a mechanic.
Survivors include his mother, Dollie McKnight Payne of Delhi, LA; his sons - Eric Lee Payne and Joseph Albert Payne, both of Pioneer, LA; his brothers - James Payne of Baton Rouge, LA, Jack Payne of Epps, LA, Claude Payne of Rayville, LA and Rusty Payne of Waverly, LA; his sisters - Carolyn Herman of Epps, LA, Shelby Brock of Lake Providence, LA, Jane Tarver of Rayville, LA and June Payne of Chattanooga, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers were Shelby Silk, Jason Freeland, John Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Richard Brock and Melvin Herman. Honorary pallbearer was Claude Ray.

PILLARS, William Arthur
DELHI - Funeral services for William Arthur Pillars, 84, of Pioneer, La., were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Delhi, with the Rev. Annie Mae Farmer officiating.
Burial followed in the Epps Cemetery, under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.
Mr. Pillars died Aug. 6, 2000 at his residence in Pioneer. He was born September 24, 1915 in Austin, Texas .
W. A. “Willie” or “Bill” Pillars was a long time resident of the Delhi are and was a long time employee of the Delhi Manufacturing Company. He was also a World War II Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pillars and Edna Boyd Pillars, and by a sister, Rissi Mae Pillers.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Pillars of Pioneer, LA; two sons - Johnny Pillars and Terry Pillars, both of Pioneer, LA; a daughter, Dorothy Goodwin of Tallulah, LA; two brothers - E. C. Rundell of Lake Livingston, TX and Clyde Rundell of Delhi, LA; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Stanfield, Eddie Bancroft, Joe Ezell, Chris Pillars, Kenny Rundell and Tyrell Jacobs.

RICH, Troy Smith Sr.
DELHI - Funeral services for Troy Smith Rich Sr., 88, of Delhi, La., were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Delhi, with Bro. Eddie Fuller officiating. Burial followed in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Leland, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.
Mr. Rich was born November 13, 1911 in McKinney, Texas . He died at home in Delhi on June 19, 2000.
Survivors include his sons - James Rich of Delhi, LA and Troy S. Rich Jr. of New Orleans, LA; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Joey Rich, Jame Rich, Michael Ford, Jay Carraway, Kevin Breaux and Blaine Breaux.

RICHEY, Grace Gwendalene
DELHI- Funeral services for Grace Gwendalene Richey, 72, of Alexander, Ark., were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Delhi, with the Revs. Paul Jordan and Tony Henry officiating.
Burial followed in the Unity Cemetery in Darnell, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.
Mrs. Richey was born July 18, 1927 in Leake County, Arkansas. She died June 14, 2000, at the Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Ark. She was a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Mosley and Nona Breland Mosley, and by her husband, James Douglas Richey.
Survivors include her daughters - Betty Barnhill of Alexander, AR, Anita Faye Reeves of Evening Shade, AR, Barbara McGill of Alexander, AR and Sherry McLaughlin of Madisonville, TX; brothers - George Mosley of Georgia, Theron Mosley of Texas , and Wayne Mosley of Florida; her sisters - Dorothy Jean Jordan of Mississippi, Merle Henry of Mississippi and Bobbie Ferguson of Texas ; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Jason Richey, Jason Atkins, Gene Rollins, Kyle Boykin, Daniel Blount and Marlin Franklin.

ROACH, William Estes
RAYVILLE - Funeral services for William Estes Roach, 80, of Bastrop, La., were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at the Brown-Holley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rocky Stephens officiating.
Burial followed in the Forest Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Homes of Rayville.
Mr. Roach died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a lengthy illness. He was a retired trimmer for International Paper in Bastrop.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, henry roach and his wife, Mattie, of Shreveport, LA and Alex J. Roach and his wife, Betty, of Mobile, AL; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were David Holmes, Ricky Holmes, Bruce Castilaw, Leonard Street, Donald “Bubba” Jones and David Entrican.
