Ruth Wade (12-21-2006)
Ruth Ela Barron Wade went to her heavenly Home on Dec. 14, 2006. Her last days were spent in Grace Home, where she was lovingly cared for. Hymns, prayers and Bible verses were offered at her bedside, and God’s Presence was felt during this last event of her life on earth. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Farmerville; on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating, assisted by Rev. David Martin. interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Church, Beulah Church Road in Farmerville.

The family will receive friends at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006.

Ruth was born on Dec. 25, 1914 in Spearsville, to Robert Henry and Ela Rockett Barron, and had ten brothers and sisters. She graduated from Warner-Brown School of Nursing in El Dorado, AR., then married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Kilgore Wade. They lived in Farmerville, where she was a public health nurse in Union Parish for many years. She gave of herself to her church, her friends, family and those in need. She enjoyed flower gardening, painting, traveling and cooking for others. Ruth loved her church family, especially her Sunday School class.

In later years, Ruth lived in the Arbor, both in Farmerville and Bossier City, and at the last, was in the Terrace, Bossier City. She also lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Velda and Perry Watson, of Bossier City, for a time. They along with caregivers Ernestine Roberson and Alice Evans, took loving care of her as long as possible.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers and sisters Joe Barron, Cisco Barron, Gurvis Barron, Guy Barron, Lavelle Barron, Willie Barron, Ruby Larde and Florene Kelley.
She will always be missed by her children, Velda Watson and husband Perry, of Bossier City, Peggy Rogers and husband Don of Trade, TN, and Barry Wade and wife Judy of Tuscon, AZ; her grandchildren, Tara Allgood and husband Pat of Haughton, Julie Freeman and husband David of West Monroe, Maura Rogers of LaVerne, CA, Dr. Rachel Roberson and husband Greg of Marion, VA, Richard Wade and wife Kristen of Chicago, IL, and Robert Wade and wife Alison of San Diego, CA, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Harold Barron of Oak Grove, and sister, Nell McWaters, of Shreveport, seven sister-in-law; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Michael Sewell, Juanita Myles and her staff of the Terrace, especially Linda and Elaine. They also thank Kathy Howard, Alice Evans, Life Path Hospice, and the excellent staff at Grace Home.

Pallbearers will be nephews Ned Barron, Glenn Barron, Dwaine Barron, Bruce Barron, Gene Barron and Dr. Joe Barron.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Farmerville, or Grace Home in Shreveport.

John M. Miller ‘Buck’ (12-21-2006)
Funeral services for Mr. John M. Miller “Buck,” 70, of Point-Wilhite, were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 at Farrar Funeral Home with Bros. Clyde Kelley and Donovan Saunders officiating. interment will be in Eros at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Miller, a retired oilfield platform supervisor, died Dec. 8, 2006. He was a Korean War Veteran, a member of the NRA, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a loving husband of 48 years, as well as a loving father and grandfather. He was their hero.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Miller of Point-Wilhite; 6 children: Sherri Henderson and husband, Joe of Calhoun; James Miller and wife, Angela of Holmesville; Donna Saunders and husband, Donovan of Sterlington; Evelyn Tatum and husband, James of Farmerville; David Miller and wife, Christy of Point-Wilhite; and Danyal Loftin and husband, Michael of Shreveport.

3 brothers: James Miller of Shreveport; Glenn Miller of West Monroe.; and Kenneth Miller also of West Monroe.

4 sisters: Mae Griffith of West Monroe; Maudie Gibson of West Monroe; Patricia Castleberry of Texas and Virginia Hemphill of Alexandria.

16 Grandchildren: Joseph Henderson, Mickie Crawford, Tabitha Henderson, James Ray Miller, Jr., Kelly Miller, Natalie Saunders, Diana Saunders, Kristy Saunders, Cody Tatum, Hunter Tatum, Chelsea Long, Shelby Loftin, Hollie McCormick, Shane McCormick, Joseph Hutchison, and Tristan Miller.

10 Great Grandchildren: Lily, Elisha, Abby, Lucy, Madison, Cadience, Makayla, Audrey, Joshua and Ethan; and a host of other relatives.

Pallbearers were Joseph Henderson, James Miller Jr., Cody Tatum, Joe Henderson, James Tatum and Shane McCormick.

Honorary pallbearers are the other grandsons.

Visitation was 4–8 p.m. Sunday and again Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Blanche Odom Rabun-Dillon (12-21-2006)
Funeral services for Blanche Odom Rabun-Dillon, 86, of Monroe were at 10 a.m. Monday Dec. 11, in the Chapel of Kilpatrick F.H. in Farmerville, with Rev. David Martin officiating. A private burial were at Liberty Hill- Taylor Cemetery outside Farmerville. Visitation was 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Dillon died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, following a lengthy illness. She was a native and longtime resident of Farmerville, a member of the Farmerville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Entro Nos Book Club, a retired employee of LA State Department of Public Safety Motor Vehicles, and a retired business owner with her late husband James A. Rabun.

After moving to Monroe in 1979, She was for many years an active member of the Twin City Arts Foundation and the Monroe Art Association. She was also an early supporter and member of the Ouachita River Art Guild. Blanche’s love of art and painting was evident to all who knew her, and her talent recognized in prize-winning watercolors and oils exhibited locally. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and later Lea Joyner United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Dillon is preceded in death by her husband John Raleigh Dillon, her parents L.B. and Mattie Taylor Odom, and her brother L.B. Odom, Jr.

Survivors include sons J. Michael Rabun of Farmerville, and Marc O. Rabun of Lafayette, daughter, Andree Rabun Fitzgerald and son-in-law Larry V. Fitzgerald of Monroe; sister Jean Odom Wadlington of Monroe; and four grandchildren Matthew Fitzgerald of Monroe, and Emily Fitzgerald Goode and Husband Jack of Monroe, Mary K Rabun Oglesby and Husband Larry of Austin, Texas , and Jim Rabun of Seattle, WA; four great-grandchildren Jade, Jordan, and Rabun Oglesby of Austin, Texas ; and Olivia Kate Goode of Monroe, two nephews Kerry H. Emmons of Jackson ville, Fla. and Christopher G. Wadlington of Lafayette; and special friends and caregivers Don and Beth Day of Columbia, and Ethel Dickens of Monroe. A special thanks to the Staff and caregivers at Avalon Place of Monroe.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Ouachita River Art Guild or The Methodist Children's Home in Ruston.

Kimberley Kelley Durr (12-26-2006)
Funeral services for Kimberley Kelley Durr, 51, of Farmerville will be held at 1 p.m. Wed., Dec. 27, 2006 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Bearden officiating. interment will be in Marthaville at Beulah Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Durr, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Farmerville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Fite Kelley and Grandmother, Mary Fanta Smith.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Jean Kelley of Farmerville; husband, Keith Durr of Farmerville; 2 sons: Shane Coleman of Plano, Texas , and Jayme Parker and wife, Marcie of Farmerville; 4 step-sons: Brandon Durr and wife, Stephanie of Natchitoches, LA.; Eric Durr and fiancée, Dusty of Natchitoches; Preston Durr and wife, Misty of Colfax, and Quentin Durr of Farmerville; 1 sister: Stacey Kuhn & husband, Keith of Monroe; 7 grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law: Nila Thurston of Shreveport; and mother-in-law: Betty Durr of Natchitoches.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Farrar Funeral Home.

William C. ‘Bill’ Wilhite Jr. (01-03-2007)
William C. “Bill” Wilhite, Jr. 84, of Farmerville, died Dec. 27, 2006 at his home after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born Dec. 16, 1922 in West Monroe, he was the son of William C. Wilhite, Sr. and Lillie Feazel Wilhite. Bill served honorably during World War II as a sea-going Marine on the battleship Washington in the southern Pacific. He served his time in the southern Pacific earning nine battle stars.

He was the first director of the Louisiana Technical College in Farmerville. He later went into business for himself as owner and operator of Bonded Warehouses of Monroe, Inc. He also opened Wilhite Moving & Storage Inc. in Bossier City.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, William “Billy” Wilhite, Johnetta Sission Wilhite Bell, his first wife and mother of his children, a sister, two brothers and his wife, Alice Breard Wilhite.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Ramsey Wilhite, sons, Fred Wilhite and wife, Debbie; and John Wilhite, daughter-in-law, Karen Wilhite; grandchildren, Jason Wilhite and wife Lori, Josh Wilhite, Billy Wilhite, and wife Michelle, and Katie Wilhite Brewer and husband, Jimmy, and great granddaughter, Lillie. Also, surviving are his step-children; Hoppy Hallman, Oppa Fife, Mary and Jimmy Lieux, Ramsey and Veronica Hallman and step-grandchildren: Will Fire and John and Matthew Hallman.

Bill requested that his body be donated to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and that there be no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to a favorite charity in Bill’s memory.

Loma Giddens (01-04-2007)
Funeral services for Loma B. Giddens 100, of Farmerville, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Farmerville Church of Christ with Rev. Harold Robertson officiating.
interment will follow in Liberty Hill - Taylor cemetery in Farmerville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Born on Dec. 15, 1906 she was the eldest of five children born to Jesse and Lillie Brantley. She Passed away on December 31, 2006 of natural causes.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers, Carnie and Jim Brantley, her husband of fifty-seven years, Charles P, two grandson, Noel Brent Giddens and Charles Marion Giddens and two daughters-in-law, Earline Giddens and Elsie Giddens.

Survivors include her children, Wayne P. (Erma Jean) Giddens of Farmerville LA; Billy G. (Patricia) Giddens of Levelland, TX; Fern (Robert) Nelson of Levelland, Texas ; Jesse G. ( Faye) Giddens of Farmerville, LA; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great -great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Fern Norris of Lafayette; Starline Hill of West Monroe, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

“Mrs. Loma” was the manager of Farmerville High School Cafeteria for over thirty years. She had fond memories of her kids that she fed over the years.

She was a member of the Farmerville Church of Christ and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Pallbearers were John W. Giddens, Randy Giddens, Jesse G. Giddens, Jr., James B. Giddens, Ryan Giddens, and Jacob Rockett.

Honorary pallbearers were Brad Taylor , Derek Taylor , Bret Padgett, Stein Baughman, Jr., Chiles Carpenter, W.D. Clinton, Billy Anderson, Joe Preaus and Louis Mashaw.

The family expresses appreciation to Farmerville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Dr. A.C. Wadlington for the loving care administered to their loved one.

J.E. Hobson (01-04-2007)
Funeral services for J. E. Hobson, 65, of Sterlington, LA, owner and operator of Hobson wrecking yard will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2007 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Officiating will be Rev. Victor Carter and Larry Carter, Jr. interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

J.E. Hobson was born on March 25, 1941 in Monroe, LA, and Passed away January 1, 2007.
Mr. Hobson is survived by his wife, Omie Hobson of Sterlington; four daughters, Kathy Roberson and husband, Gene of Sterlington, LA; Marcy Casper and husband, Shannon of Farmerville, LA; Johnnie Lortz and husband, Jimmy of Sterlington, LA; Cindy Bridges and husband, Brad of Sterlington, LA; 5 grandchildren, Gerard Roberson, Ashley Roberson, Dusti Dunham, Devin Lortz and Brandon Bridges, 8 brothers and sisters, Patsy Slayton, Jimmy Hobson, Darlene Carter, Tommy Hobson, Judy Carter, Jerry Hobson, Ronnie Hobson, and Reggie Hobson, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his brothers and brother-in-laws.

Honorary pallbearer will be Gerard Roberson.

Daddy will be missed very much.

Olivia Harper Rockett (01-10-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Olivia Harper Rockett, 98, of Spearsville will be held at noon Wednesday Jan. 10, 2007 at Mt. Union Baptist Church with Bros. Forrest Post and Coy Upshaw officiating. interment will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Rockett, a homemaker, died Saturday. She was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Union Parish.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Urban Rockett and grandson Joel D. Rockett.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law James Dudley Rockett and wife Norma of Dolores, Colo.; Two daughters Joann Rockett Miller of Slidell, and Phyllis Rockett Huffman and husband David Heard Huffman of Slidell. Five grandchildren: Danny and Rose Perkins, Bobby Perkins, Jr., Michelle Rockett, Kade Rockett Huffman and Parris Noelle Huffman. Five Great grandchildren: Cee-Cee Rockett, Jessica Perkins, Bobby Perkins, Jr., Jerrica Perkins and Monica Perkins Dillingham; Two great great grandchildren: Jett Rockett Neal and James Radnor Dillingham.

Pallbearers: Roland Kay, Mark Kay, James D. Odom, James R. Harty, Robert Elliott and Michael Elliott.

Visitation was from 5 p.m. Tuesday till the time of service on Wednesday at Mt. Union Baptist Church.

Helen Auger Harper (01-10-2007)
Funeral services for Helen Auger Harper, 92, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Kurt Auger officiating. interment was Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, Arkansas under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mrs. Harper Passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, in Ruston following a brief illness. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and received her B.A. degree at Louisiana Tech University. Mrs. Harper was a teacher for over 32 years before retiring from the Eudora Special School District in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart White Harper; her sister, Freddie Lockwood; and her brothers, Ernest E. Auger, Sr. and Dr. Huey Van Auger.

Mrs. Harper is survived by her daughters; Hilda Harper Grafton and husband Eddie of Ruston and Mary Lynn Harper Curry and husband Charles of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandsons, Scott Michael Grafton and wife Jennifer of Choudrant; Mark Harper Grafton of Monroe; and Alan Stuart Curry of Charlotte, N.C.; her granddaughter, Anna Claire Curry Schau and husband Christopher of Charlotte, NC; brother, John Alton Auger and wife Relda of Farmerville; sisters, Robbie Watson of Houston, Texas ; Ann Ratomsky and husband Stan of Hilton Head, S.C.; LaFaye Keith of Austin, Texas ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Scott Grafton, Alan Curry, Mark Grafton, Christopher Schau, Bill Harper, and Steve Auger.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home or Temple Baptist Church Media Center in Ruston.

Special thanks to Northwest Regional Hospice, Angel Care of Louisiana , and Alpine Guest Care Center for their loving care.

Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Loyd Albritton (01-18-2007)
Loyd Wilson Albritton Jr. of Shreveport, formerly of Farmerville, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at LifeCare Hospital in Shreveport after an extended illness.

Family visitation will be held at Farrar Funeral Home, Farmerville La., from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, 2007. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment at the Liberty Hill Church. Taylor Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Randall Graves.

Mr. Albritton was born July 24, 1919, in Farmerville. He was the son of Lloyd Wilson Albritton and Katherine Isabel Green Albritton. They were hill farmers and Wilson Jr. had many fond memories of growing up on the farm.

He was the Supervisor of Veterans Training for Union Parish and a school teacher for many years in various communities in Louisiana . He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education and maintained a love for the Tigers right up to his death. He grew up in the Hopewell community and played baseball on that team of neighbors as they ‘took on” the surrounding communities. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and followed the Chicago Cubs. His real pride was in his children and grandchildren as he related them to anyone he met.

He is survived by his children, John Loyd Albritton and wife Sharon and Dr. Marsha Friedrich and husband Russell, all of Shreveport; and Tom Albritton and wife Debbie of Pineville; grandchildren Donna “Dee Dee” Day Cochran and husband Robert; Lea Albritton Green and husband Daniel; Laura Albritton Graves and husband Randall; Lesha Albritton Pace and husband Dancy, all of Shreveport; and William Albritton and Alyse Albritton, both of Pineville, and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rob Cochran, Dancy Pace, Daniel Green, Randall Graves, William Albritton, and Dr. A. D. Smith.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor South and LifeCare Hospital.

Cooper Wyatt Englerth (01-18-2007)
Funeral Services for Cooper Wyatt Englerth of Conway, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Conway Baptist Church in Conway Community, LA with Bro. Jerry Akins and Father Adrian Fischer O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in Conway Cemetery, under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Cooper was born on Nov. 29, 2006 in West Monroe, LA to the loving parents of William and Kim Englerth of Conway, LA, he was taken home to be with our Father on January 14, 2007 following a brief illness. He was put here by God to touch each and every one of our lives in one way or another. He did so much for all of us in 6 short weeks. More than a lot of us could do in a lifetime.

He is not only survived by his parents but also a brother, Austin Cole Englerth of Gilbert and pet Sadie. Grandparents, Don and Sandy Englerth of Gilbert; Dickey and Judy Cole of Conway; great grand parents, Troy and Dorothy Tubbs of Conway; uncles, Caleb Englerth and Brad Englerth, Trent and Susan Englerth all of Gilbert; Toni and husband Matt Edwards of Bishop, Ga.; several great aunts, cousins, and other relatives.

Pallbearers: Brad Englerth and Cade Fine.

Honorary Pallbearer: Harrison Cole Edwards.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.
