Viola B. Tassin (01-24-2007)
Services for Viola B. Tassin were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 in the Bolton Chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Lee Weems officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria. Pallbearers will be J. B. Shelley, Brian Dyer, Phillip Dyer, Justin Shelley, John Premeaux, and Nippy Blair.

Mrs. Tassin, 89, of Alexandria died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 in Park Manor Skilled Nursing, Conroe, Texas .

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for 62 years. During her working career she was a private sitter. Mrs. Tassin was a kind, giving person and a woman of unwavering faith.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene N. Pitre, Sr. and Louis J. Tassin; parents, Sam and Lillie Bounds Burnett; brothers, George Burnett, Marvin Burnett, Leroy Burnett; sisters, Vera B. Tucker, Lillie Mae Foret, Marvilee Terrell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Danny L. Tassin and wife, Winetta of Milan, Tennessee; daughters, Velma P. Dyer and her husband, Royce of Farmerville, LA; Arlene P. Hovendick and her husband, James of Montgomery, Texas ; brother, Lonnie Burnett of Glenmora, LA; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until service time.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Preschool Nursery Fund, 430 Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA 71301.

Dan W. Green (01-31-2007)
Funeral services for Dan W. Green, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Farrar Funeral Home with Bros. Marty Black and Forrest Post officiating. interment followed at Camp Creek Cemetery, Spearsville under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Green was a retired tool pusher/consultant with the oilfield, a member of First Baptist Church of Bernice and had served 2 years in the U. S. Marine Corps. He died Jan. 25.
Preceding him in death were his parents Leonard & Diamond Green; wife, Helen Barron Green and brother, David “Buzzy” Green.

Survivors include his son: Keith Green and wife, Kim of Monroe; 3 daughters: Vicky Key & husband, Red of Dubach; Teresa Hutto of Dubach and Keri Green of Farmerville. 2 brothers: Joe Green of Harrisonburg, and Mickey Green of Ruston;2 sisters: Sara Green of Bernice and Diana Burke of New York; 7 Grandchildren: Chris, Holly, Tyson, Cynthia, Jamie, Shelbi and Lexi; 1 great Grandchild: Ashley; 2 special sisters-in-law and husbands: Peggy & Charlie Futch and Deborah & Gary Johnson . Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers were Steve Futch, Terry Morris, Michael Johnson , John Roan, Tyson Baldwin and Max Gaskin.

Elbert Odom (01-31-2007)
Elbert Odom was born October 11, 1922 and died Jan. 22, 2007 at the age of 84 from complications of pneumonia. Services will be at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. Jan. 25 with Rev. Roger Johnson and Bro. David Martin officiating. interment followed in the Farmerville City Cemetery.

He was the son of Charlie Odom and Lavenia Tucker Odom and the last of 11 siblings. He grew up in Farmerville and entered the 4th Marine Division, 24th Marines, 2nd Battalion from 1943-1945. He proudly served his country and received the Purple Heart at Siapan and the Gold Star as he stormed the beach at Iwo Jima. Upon return he began a 28 year career with S. E. Huey as a surveyor. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Farmerville where he served as President and Secretary of the Men’s Bible Class.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothy Frasier Odom, his parents and siblings.
Survivors include his daughters: Pat Barron and husband Rich, Jody Herren and husband Lynn, and Karen Odom; grandchildren: Brandon and Amy Barron and great grandchild: Bryan Barron. His extended family includes the Drug Store Coffee Gang where they “chewed the fat” and solved the world’s problems.

We would like to thank the staff and residents of The Arbor for making our Dad feel at home.

The family would also like to thank give special thanks to Shorty Aulds, Wilma Thrasher and Jimmy Odom for the continued care of our father. Memorials made be made to First Baptist Church, Farmerville or to the charity of your choice.

Our father loved his family, his sons-in-law, his church, a new set of wheels, a domino game and a new suit - not necessary in that order. Pallbearers were Jimmy B. Odom, Shorty Aulds, Donnie Odom, Jimmy Odom, Tommy Odom and Jimmy Doolittle.

Mary Bess Welch Washam (01-31-2007)
Funeral services for Mary Bess Washam, age 93, were held at 3 p.m. Jan. 27 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Saunders officiating. interment followed at Union Grove Cemetery in Lillie, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Washam, a homemaker from Lillie, died Jan. 26, 2007. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Lillie, LA. Preceding her in death was her husband, Wilson Washam.

Survivors are her son, William Warren “Bill” Washam & wife, Peggy of Spearsville.; 1 sister: Maxine Bledsoe of Nederland, Texas . 1 Grandson: Warren Washam & wife, Teresa of Dubach. 1 Granddaughter: Kathy Washam of Junction City.; and numerous other relatives. There was no visitation.

Theresa Lynne Isaac Ebarb Methvin (01-31-2007)
Funeral services for Theresa Lynne Isaac Ebarb Methvin, 46, of Farmerville, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at Conway Baptist Church in Conway. Officiating was Rev. Coy Upshaw and Rev. Kevin Daniel. interment followed in Conway Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Theresa was born on May 26, 1960 and Passed away on Jan. 26, 2007 at Union General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her step-dad, Ralph Gambrell. She is survived by her mother, Yvette Gambrell of Farmerville; father, Charlie Isaac of Farmerville, LA; children, Jessica Shirey and husband Jason of Farmerville; Jennifer Aaron and husband Dale of Sterlington; Jansen Ebarb of Farmerville; grand-daughters, Macie Claire Shirey and Mina Lynne Aaron. Sisters and brothers, Charles Isaac and wife Joyce of Farmerville; William Isaac and wife Tina of Epps; Roy Isaac and wife Rita of Truxno; Charlene Waller and husband Dennis of Pioneer; Steve and Kathy Isaac of Farmerville; Dianne Saxon of West Monroe; special friend Austin Thomas of Spearsville, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were: Charles Isaac, William Isaac, Steve Isaac, Roy Isaac, Jason Shirey and Dale Aaron. Honorary Pallbearers: Deacons of Conway Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Conway Baptist Church.

Dr. Fred J. Teaster (02-14-2007)
Funeral services for Dr. Fred J. Teaster were held at 2 p.m., Jan. 29, 2007 at North Monroe Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Dye officiating. interment followed at Monroe Memorial Park.

Dr. Teaster was born April 5, 1940 in Hayti, Missouri and died Jan. 26, 2007 in Minden, La. of heart failure during a River Oaks High School basketball game. Dr. Teaster, along with his family, came to Farmerville in 1969 and opened his Optometric office. He continued to practice for over 35 years in both Farmerville and West Monroe.

Dr. Teaster was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church. One of Dr. Teaster’s most rewarding pastimes was serving as a volunteer basketball coach at River Oaks School. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed many hours with his Farmerville buddies at the D’Arbonne Country Club. Dr. Teaster was proceeded in death by his parents, Georgia and Leonard Teaster.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judy Glass Teaster of Monroe, two daughters, Shelia Ginn and husband Keith of Monroe and Jansen Clary and husband Greg of Lakeland, Fl.; brother Dr. Len Teaster and wife Martha of Pocahontas, Ark.; five grandchildren, Tyler Ginn, Lance Ginn, Karlin Aloisio, Blake Aloisio, and McCrae Clary and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

Pallbearers were Ben Powell, Jim Gray, John Hunter, Robert Neal, Arthur Earl and Glen McAdams.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the River Oaks basketball and football teams.
Memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church stained glass fund in memory of Dr. Teaster.

Lucille S. Laing (02-14-2007)
Funeral services for Lucille S. Laing, 64, of Farmerville, were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Woody Reeder and Johnny Hankins officiated. interment followed at Mt. Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Laing, a CSM at Wal-Mart in Farmerville, died on February 5, 2007. She was a member of Lake D’Arbonne Chapel in Farmerville.

Survivors are her husband, Marvin R. Laing of Farmerville; 4 sons: Leon J. Whisenhunt of Idaho; Robert Laing and wife, Roslyn of Farmerville; Larry G. Whisenhunt & wife, Jackie of CA. and Jeffery D. Laing; 1 daughter: LaDonna Sandifer & husband, James of North Richland Hills, Texas .; 1 brother: Joey Serpa of CA.; 1 sister: Dolly Rivaldi of CA.; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jason Baker, Roy Ross, Terry Morris, Ricky Morris, Scotty Key and Tandy Key.

Bettye Jo Nolan Lamprich (02-21-2007)
Bettye Jo Nolan Lamprich departed this earth on Feb. 18.

Bettye Jo was born on June 1, 1938 in Farmerville, Louisiana to Troy and Ouida Nolan. Bettye Jo was known to many of you during her 45 years as a valued and faithful employee of First United Bank in Farmerville. To the love of her life, Ted; the beloved mother to daughters Karla and Karmen; the cherished grandmother of Macy, Elizabeth, Nolan and Claire; a loving sister to Bonnie and faithful friend to so many. Bettye Jo looked forward to beginning each day with a crossword puzzle and ending the day with the taped soap operas she enjoyed so much. She was a wonderful cook and delighted in making her home a more beautiful place for family and friends to gather. She devoted much of her time to service and activities at First Baptist Church of Farmerville, where she had been a member her entire life. Bettye Jo had a winsome smile, a soft voice and hearty laugh. Bettye Jo lived a full and complete life and was loved by so many.

Bettye Jo was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ted Lamprich Jr; daughters and sons-in-law Karla and John Osman of Marietta, Ga. and Karmen and John Kennedy of West Monroe; grandchildren Macy Osman, Elizabeth Osman, Nolan Kennedy and Claire Kennedy; sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Lee Royce Alford; aunts Foye N. Smith and Lona Russell; mother-in-law Eudora Lamprich; brother-in-law Bill Lamprich and wife Joanne, sister-in-law Jean Guidry and husband Ronald, sister-in-law Mary Gail Phillips and husband Jim; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and very special life-long friends Stein and Ann Baughman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Farmerville. Officiating will be Rev. Roger Johnson and Rev. David Martin. Pallbearers are Billy Anderson, Bill Duncan, Tommy Futch, Donnie Gates, Bob Hanry, Bill Jung, Bill Patterson, Danny Tettleton and Zeke Tettleton. interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Farmerville.

Monica Renee Rivers (02-21-2007)
Funeral services for Monica Renee Rivers was held Mon., Feb. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church. Sister Monica Renee Rivers was born Aug. 20, 1958, to Clarice and the late Vonnie Lee Rivers. On Feb. 1, 2007 God called her home to eternal rest after a lengthy illness.

Renee confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Millard Hill Baptist Church. She later moved to Chicago and united with Salem Baptist Church. After completing high school, she returned home and joined Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Grover Robinson.

God blessed her with a voice to sing which she used for his glory. A dedicated choir member and one of the lead soloists in her church choir, she was faithful until her health began to fail.

Renee’s heart’s desire was to see her only child graduate from college. On Dec. 20, 2002, her heart’s desire was fulfilled. Though wheelchair bound, God gave her strength to travel to Northwestern State University. A mother’s prayer was answered.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving son: Astair “Dusty” (Amy) River, Union City, Ga., her parents; Bobby and Clarice Griffin, Farmerville, one sister: Adrain S. Johnson , Farmerville, four brothers: Rodney P. Rivers, Spring Lake, NC, Bobby (Courtney) Griffin, Joseph (Nishona) Griffin, all of Farmerville, Edward Charles Griffin, Spearsville, a special niece, Channel Johnson , Farmerville, special caretakers: Morris Davis, Joann Jones, Mary Ruth Fields, Farmerville and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Edward Hill, Sr., Edwin Fields, Rodney P. Rivers, Tarecco Dismuke, Kevin Simmons, Benjamin Fields. Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of Beulah, Decon Dexter Andrews, Deacon Robert Andrews, Bro. Raymond Goldsmith and her nephews.
interment followed at Springhill Baptist Church.

Annie L. Janson (03-07-2007)
Funeral services for Annie L. Janson, 84, of Farmerville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Union Grove Baptist Church, Lillie, LA. with Bro. David Martin officiating.

interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Janson, a retired telephone operator and supervisor with Southwestern Bell, died Thursday, March 1. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Doyle Farrar.

Survivors include husband, Wendell S. Janson of Farmerville, LA.; 2 daughters: Beverly A. Janson of Louisville, KY. and Rhonda Unger & husband, Don of Irving, TX.; 2 brothers: Donald Farrar & wife, Ursula of Bernice, LA. and Davis Farrar & wife, Sandy of Lillie, LA.; 2 sisters: LaNelle Rusk of Epps, LA. and Maudine Edwards & husband, Walter of Lanham, MD.; 2 grandchildren: Robert Unger & Matthew Unger; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers: Tim Washam, James Stanton, Mike Rhodes, Harold Farrar, Don Unger and Matthew Unger.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Farrar Funeral Home.

Floyd J. Holman Jr. (03-07-2007)
Funeral services for Floyd James Holman Jr., 50, of Downsville, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville. Officiating were Carolyn Volentine, Bobby Taylor , and James Wilson. interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Holman Passed away on Feb. 26, 2007 from a brief illness, He was a resident of Gulf Shores, Ala., where he worked as a mechanic. He is preceded in death by his father Floyd J. Holman Sr.

He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Ann Holman Booth of West Monroe; son, Jeremy James Holman Booth of Shreveport; mother, Jewel Holman of Downsville; 3 brothers, Terry Holman of West Monroe; Lawrence Holman of Farmerville; Charles Holman of Fouke, Ark.; sister, Cheryl Booth of Farmerville; and grandson, Dylan Booth of West Monroe.

Pallbearers: Keith Taylor , John Wallace, Harry Hinton, Todd Quarles, Johnny McFarland and James B. Guice.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Cena Wilson (03-15-2007)
Funeral Services for Cena Wilson, 94, of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Sardis Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating will be Bro. J.L. Williams. interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.

Mrs. Wilson was a longtime member of Sardis Baptist Church of Farmerville, LA. she was born on September 27, 1912 and Passed away after a lengthy illness on March 12, 2007 at Saint Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband Holmes Wilson and son, Johnny Wilson.

She is survived by her 3 daughter, Dorothy Byrnside of Farmerville, LA; Lillian Ginn and husband Everett of Ruston, LA; Ginger Massey and husband Don of Monroe, LA; daughter-in-law, Agnes Wilson of Farmerville, LA; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Shannon Spillers, Heath Wilson, Dewayne Ginn, Jerry Ginn, David Ginn and Fred Byrnside.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 5-7:00p.m. Sardis Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA.

Imogene Manning McAdams (03-15-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Manning McAdams, age 81 of Spearsville, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Bro. David Martin and Ernest McAdams officiating. Burial followed in Laran Cemetery in Laran under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. McAdams was born October 19, 1925 in Laran to Willie B. and Dottie McDougal Manning. She died Saturday, March 10, 2007 in Ruston. Mrs. McAdams served as church clerk for Hopewell Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. She was also the secretary and treasurer of the Laran Cemetery for a number of years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and her family was her pride and joy.

Mrs. McAdams is survived by her nine children and their spouses: Mary Ellen Nix and husband Ronnie of Keithville, Bobby Lynn Mc Adams and wife Deborah, Joey McAdams and wife Sheila, James Riley McAdams and wife Kathy, Kenneth Ray McAdams and wife Amy, Ernest Lee McAdams and wife Carolyn, Larry Dewayne McAdams and wife Lisa, Scott Allen McAdams and wife Ann all of Spearsville and Valerie Ann Elkins and husband Kent of Whitehall, AR.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Flavil McAdams, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. McAdams’ sons served as pallbearers. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. at the Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Hopewell Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund.

Delzie Mae Hughes Barron Courtney (03-15-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Delzie Mae Hughes Barron Courtney were held March 9, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, at 3 p.m. with Bro. Roger Johnson officiating. interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Visitation was Thursday, March 8th, 2007, from 5-7 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home.
Mrs. Courtney died on March 7, 2007, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Dodson on Aug. 9, 1927, the daughter of Ida Price Hughes and Walter R. Hughes.

She is survived by four daughters: Sherry Ann Barron Green, and husband, Kenneth D. Green; Margie Nell Barron Oliver, and husband, James D. Oliver, Sr.; and Martha Jane Barron Odom, all of Farmerville, LA.; and Donna Gay Barron Whiddon, and husband, Michael Whiddon of Conway, AR., one brother, Dr. William M. Hughes, and wife, Dawn of Monroe, LA.; sister-in-law, Mildred Hughes and numerous special nieces and nephews; step-son Ragan Courtney, and wife, Cynthia Clawson Courtney of Texas , step-daughter, Helen Sue Neher, and husband, Jim Neher of Ruston, LA.; eight grandchildren: Justin Barron Oliver; Andre Oliver Harrell, and husband, Sean; James Oliver, Jr. and wife, Mandy; April Renee‚ Johnson , and husband, John; Miranda Kay Moss, and husband, Jody; Joseph Barron Odom; Nicholas Barron Green; Daniel Barron Whiddon; and four step-grandchildren: William Courtney, Lily Courtney, Happy Morris, and Wendy White ; seven great grandchildren: Brittany Harrell, Natalie Harrell, Katelyn Oliver, Kane Oliver, Kaleb Oliver, John-Barron Johnson , and Brett Johnson .

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Courtney, former husband, Frank C. Barron, brother, J. B. Hughes, and sister, Rupert Dickerson.

In her later years, Delzie fulfilled her dreams of traveling to many destinations including Hawaii, Ireland, Italy, England, France, Scotland, and the Eastern Caribbean. She also loved feeding and watching her birds.

Delzie’s life was one of service and caring; her kindness and compassion touched many lives. She was known for her cooking and showered friends and family with gifts from her kitchen. Her life was a legacy of love.

Pallbearers were Justin Oliver, James Oliver, Nicholas Green, Daniel Whiddon, Joseph Odom, Sean Harrell, Jody Moss and John Johnson , Jr.
