Funeral services for Kenneth E. Terrell 54, of Marion, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Haile Baptist Church in Haile. Officiating will be Rev. Keith McVay and Rev. Chris Montgomery. interment followed at Dewey Cemetery in New Era under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Terrell is preceded in death by his mother Lillian Bryan Terrell.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne ( Suzie) Terrell, 3 children; Siana Jean, Vincent Cary, Kenny Jr.; sister and brother; Brenda Boyette and husband Bobby, Rogers Terrell and wife Barbara and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 20, 2007 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Haile Baptist Church in Haile.

Zula Brantley (03-21-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Zula Brantley, 87, of Marion will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Meridian Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie McVicker officiating. interment followed in the Concord Cemetery near Marion arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Brantley, a homemaker and member of Concord Baptist Church died Saturday March 17, 2007.

She is preceded in death by her husband: O’Neal Brantley; 6 brothers: Lee, Ollie, Alton, J. P., James and Edmond McVicker. 1 sister: Eula McVicker.

Survivors include 2 sons: Billy C. Brantley of Marion and Mark A. Brantley and wife Mickie Sue of Marion; 2 Grandchildren: Daniel and Russ Brantley of Marion; and a host of nieces, nephew, and other relatives.

Clarice H. Lockwood (03-21-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Clarice H. Lockwood, 89, a homemaker of Truxno were held at 2 p.m. Monday March 19, 2007 at the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville with Bro. J. L. Foster officiating. interment followed in the Laran Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lockwood was born July 28, 1917 in Truxno, LA and Passed away March 16, 2007 in Longview, Texas , she was also a longtime member of Franklin Street Baptist Church in Farmerville

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Cleo Lockwood; brothers-Grady Black, C. E. (Peck) Black; Sister-Bess Van Orden; half brothers & sisters-Harvey Black, Boss Black, Blanche Black McBroom and Audie Black Dyson Lowery.

Survivors include: Two sons-J. E. Lockwood & wife Patricia of Houma, LA; Bobby L. Lockwood & wife Evelyn of Georgetown, Texas ; One daughter-Elizabeth Annette Bullock & husband Willie of Hallsville, Texas ; One brother: C. H. (Coot) Black and wife Bonnie of Sterlington, LA; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m.Sunday, March 18 at Farrar Funeral Home.

Cena Wilson (03-21-2007)
Funeral Services for Cena Wilson, 94, of Farmerville, LA, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Sardis Baptist Church in Farmerville. Officiating was Bro. J.L. Williams. interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Wilson was a longtime member of Sardis Baptist Church of Farmerville. she was born on September 27, 1912 and Passed away after a lengthy illness on March 12, 2007 at Saint Francis Hospital in Monroe. She is preceded in death by her husband Holmes Wilson and son, Johnny Wilson.

She is survived by her 3 daughter, Dorothy Byrnside of Farmerville; Lillian Ginn and husband Everett of Ruston; Ginger Massey and husband Don of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Agnes Wilson of Farmerville; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Shannon Spillers, Heath Wilson, Dewayne Ginn, Jerry Ginn, David Ginn and Fred Byrnside.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. Sardis Baptist Church in Farmerville.

Larry Foy Chevalier (03-28-2007)
Larry Foy Chevalier departed this life on March 5, 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife, Darla Sue Teddie and parents Thomas Foy Chevalier and Geneva Virtell Ward.
Larry was born in Gilmer, Tx. Sept. 8, 1937 and grew up in Freeport, Tx., where he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a medic in the 11th Airborne Division of the Paratroopers. He met and married Darla when they were both attending Sam Houston State College. He was a Prison Guarg at the Brazoria County Prison and later served as a Detective Sergeant in both the Freeport, Tx. and Vernal, Ut. Police Departments. He graduated from the Utah State Police Academy in Salt Lake City, Ut. in 1976 and became a licensed Private Investigator that same year.

Larry moved his family to Alaska in 1980, where he was Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police to five bush villages in the Aleutians, Interior, Arctic Circle and Southeast. In Nov. 1995, when his health became bad, he hung up his badge and gun, after serving under thirteen different badges.

After giving up his passion for Law Enforcement, he decided to write about it. With the help of Darla, he started a book. After Darla's death in 2002, and great effort on his part, "One Bridge Alone - Tales of an Alaskan Bush Cop" was published in 2004. At the time of his death he had two other books he was working on.

Larry was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a faithful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his faithful caregiver and friend, his son, Larry Thomas Chevalier of Ketchikan, Ark., also his daughter, Sharon Lynn Fraley and husband John Fraley, two grandchildren, Samantha and Larry Kuzakin, and sisters, Gail Chevalier, Ruth Mashaw and husband, Sam Mashaw of Farmerville.

Memorial services were held March 8 in Ketchikan, Ark. Larry was laid to rest beside Darla, his eternal companion, in Pioneer Cemetary, Palmer, Ark. on March 16, 2007.

Sue E. Holley (03-28-2007)
Funeral services for Sue E. Holley, 69, of Marion were held at 2 p.m.
Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Autrey officiating. interment was in the Birds Chapel Cemetery, Truxno.

Arrangements were under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Mrs. Holley, a retired nurse‚s aide, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elton Holley and grandson, Clifford “Bubba” Evans, Jr.

Survivors include two sons: Frank Edward Cates and wife, Brenda of Sulphur and Kirk Allen Cates and wife, Rebecca of Farmerville.

5 daughters: Sandy Cates of Marion; Cammy Holley and husband, Dwayne of Marion.; Gena Reeves and husband, Roger of Marion; Sonya Cates of Strong, Ark.; and Paula Holley of Farmerville.; two step-sons: W. L. Holley of Farmerville and Max Holley of N.C.; 1 brother: Jimmy Smith & wife, Scarlet of Oktaha, Okla.; 1 sister: Wanda Wainwright of Muskogee, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Roger Reeves, Jr., Bobby Reeves, Allen Reeves, Nathan
Holley, Curtis Holley and Frankie Cates.

Honorary pallbearers: Chris Cates and Kirk Allen Cates.

Joy Lea Dumas (03-31-2007)
A memorial services for Joy Lea Kennedy Dumas, 67, of Farmerville will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2007 in the chapel at Farrar Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Hurst officiating. (no visitation).

Mrs. Dumas, retired retail sales, died Thursday, March 29.

She is preceded in death by her husband Marshall R. Dumas.

Survivors include daughters: Rickie Luther & husband Richard of Farmerville; special daughter Cherry Lockwood & husband, Barry of Farmerville; and Diane Mize and husband, Eric of Shreveport; 4 Grandchildren: Dalton Dumas, Michelle Lyons, Thomas Mize and Christian Mize; and the Lockwood’s and their extended family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice of Caring Hearts, 463 Pearidge Road, Dubach, LA. 71235.

Laura Wilson Mobley (03-31-2007)
Funeral Services for Laura Wilson Mobley, 97, of D’Arbonne, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Culbertson Baptist Church in Farmerville. Officiating will be Bro. Scott Jennings. interment will follow in Mt Nebo Cemetery in Downsvill under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Mobley was a caregiver to many and a neighbor to all. She was the oldest member of Culbertson Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Raymond Mobley, step-son, Durwood Mobley, twin brothers, Ray Lee Wilson and Roy B. Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Mobley of Poteau, OK; granddaughter, Suzanne Klutts and husband Kip of Poteau, OK; 3 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Wilson and Ben Klutts of Poteau, OK; special nieces, Bonita Hutson of Farmerville, LA; Debbie Silmon of Downsville, LA; special grandson, Jarvis Dean Silmon Jr. of Downsville, LA; special friends Kenny and Teresa Bowen of D’Arbonne. Many nieces and nephews with others who called her “Aunt Laura”.

Memorials may be made to Culbertson Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers: Danny Frasier, Kenny Bowen, Frank Hutson, Larry Savage, Stacey Savage and Lucien Savage.

Visitation was held Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Clyde Colvin “C.C.” Beaird (03-31-2007)
Funeral services for Clyde Colvin “C.C.” Beaird, 67, of Spearsville were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Conway Baptist Church, Conway. with Bro. Forrest Post, Bro. Coy Upshaw and Stan Elkins officiating.

interment followed in Conway Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mr. Beaird, a retired supervisor with the Louisiana Dept of Hwy., died Sunday,
March 25, 2007. He was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church and of Oakland A & G Hunting Club.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria A. Beaird; parents, John & Lilburne Beaird; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Griffin Beaird.

Survivors include son, Kerry Beaird of Farmerville; daughter, Cheryl Beaird Griffin & husband, Jason of Marion; 1 sister, Ruby Jean Stoudemire of Wilmington, NC; 5 grandchildren: Meagan Pierson, Matt Griffin, Kerry Beaird II, Tia Beaird, Cole Griffin; and a host of other relatives and beloved pet, “Tiny”.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Alford, Rollin Alford, Robert Gulley, Goose
Elkins, Donald Griffin, and Shane Alford.

Honorary pallbearers: Oakland A & G Hunting Club members, his good friends from the fire ring that sat around the shed and discussed the world’s problems.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m. March 27 at Farrar Funeral Home, Farmerville.

Dr. Grady A. Dugas (04-05-2007)
Funeral services for Dr. Grady A. Dugas of Marion were held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2007. interment followed at Roark Cemetery in Marion.

Visitation was in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe on Monday evening, March 26, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by a memorial wake in the chapel. The wake wastime to share your memories of Dr. Dugas with his family. They will cherish your stories. Words of appreciation as well as amusing incidences are welcome to celebrate his life.

Dr. Dugas was born October 24, 1923, in Sulphur the son of the late Sona and Mildred Meyers Dugas. He died March 25, 2007, in Monroe. He graduated Sulphur High School in 1941 president of his senior class. He attended McNeese Junior College before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served in the European Theater in the 817 Medical Air Evacuation Unit stationed in England and France for the duration of the war.

After World War II he returned to college, graduating from LSU Baton Rouge in 1949 and LSU Medical School in New Orleans in 1953. After a year of internship at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, TX he moved with his wife and son to Marion, LA where he joined Dr. Virgil Gully in Marion Hospital-Clinic in 1954. After Dr. Gully left for health reasons, Dr. Dugas maintained the hospital until 1965 then continued the clinic and private practice until 1991. He served as Medical Director of Marion Nursing Home until 2002. There he invented The Safer Automatic Wheelchair Wheel Locks designed to help those who forget to lock their wheelchairs. He considered this his greatest gift to posterity.

In 1972, Marion acclaimed him “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” and the town declared March 30, 1990 as Dr. Dugas Day and special awards were presented. In 2005, Union Parish proclaimed him the “Outstanding Citizen of the Year for Community Service.”

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Annie Jo Sehon Dugas; his daughter, Denise Dugas Taylor of Monroe, LA; four sons and their wives, Steve and Lisa Boone Dugas of Kansas City, MO, Dr. Rene’ and Donna Sills Dugas of Monroe, LA, Dr. Chris and Kathy Sullivan Strobel Dugas of Buffalo, MO, and Ken and Phyllis Henderson Dugas of Plano, TX; four grandsons, David Dugas and wife Cara, Jordan Taylor , Jared Dugas, and Tristan Dugas; six granddaughters, Samantha Dugas Boyle, Stephanie Dugas, Michelle Dugas Johnson , Danielle Dugas, and Julie Dugas; three step granddaughters; Heidi Strobel Hamel, and Dawn and Ashleigh Strobel; great grandchildren, Alana Boyle and Aiden Johnson ; a sister and family, Betty Dugas Bryson and Roby and Barbara Bryson Odom of Dallas, and their daughter Pascha and her husband, Tod Tietzen of Denton, Texas ; a brother-in-law and his wife, George and Peggy Denton Sehon of Marion.

He was remembered for his attentive care to the people of the community and his willingness to help all people no matter their circumstances.

Pallbearers will bewere his 4 grandsons as well as friends Bruce Matte, Greg Nappier, and Joel Taylor .

Honorary pallbearers arewere J.H. Franklin, Travis Davis, Al George, Johnny Zeigler, Chuck Goatley, and Bill Hoge.

William O. ‘Bill’ Windham (04-05-2007)
Memorial services for Mr. William O. “Bill” Windham, 60, of Sterlington, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the American Legion Hall Post. 51 in Bastrop.

Mr. Windham, a retired mechanic and member of the American Legion, Passed away March 28, 2007 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Windham; three daughters, Laurel Windham of Bosco; Anita Barr and husband Alan of Choudrant, Teri Windham of Clarks; two step children, Mitch Craig of Haile, Kelly Blakely of Sterlington,; sister, Mildred Waganon of Ruston; brother, Larry Windham of Rayville; eight grandchildren and a special friend, Sammie White .

Mr. Windham is preceded in death by his parents, James Oswald and Edna Elizabeth Windham and a brother, James Windham.

Viola 'Pinkie' Agnes Davenport Coley (04-18-2007)
Viola ‘Pinkie’ Agnes Davenport Coley

Funeral services for Ms. Viola “Pinkie” Agnes Davenport Coley of Farmerville were held at 2 p.m. Tues., April 17, 2007,at First Assembly of God Church, Farmerville, La. interment followed in West Monroe Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Coley was born in Soldier, Kansas, July 15, 1935 to Jessie and Vera Davenport of Eddieville, Oregon. She graduated from Eddieville High School near Corvalis, Oregon. She later attended Tennessee Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tenn. Before coming to Farmerville, she was employed with Bancroft Bag, and then at First United Bank in Farmerville. Later she was employed by People’s Homestead, also in Farmerville.

On May 26, 1953 Viola married “Thurman” Leon Coley and they had two daughters, Connie and Deborah, and one son, Randal Leon Coley. Viola was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Farmerville. The writer had the privilege of knowing her when she and I worked together at People’s Homestead in Farmerville. She was a lovely lady and a joy to know and work with. After retiring, she became her husband’s “right hand man” in his many businesses and activities. Truly, her absence will be felt immensely.

On the 14th day of April 2007, Viola Coley was escorted home by God’s angels. She will be greatly missed by her family, and all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Mrs. Coley is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Vera Davenport and a son, Randall Leon Coley.

She is survived by her husband Thurman Coley, to whom she was married 54 years, two daughters, Connie Cotita and husband Randy of West Monroe, and Deborah Corbin of Farmerville. Three grandsons, Courtney Corbin and wife Misty of Shreveport, Ben Corbin and fiance Crystal Green from St. Louis Missouri, and Ian Cotita of Austin, Tex. A sister Dixie Schuenlfenig and husband of Salem, Oregon. Two brothers Edward “Bud” Davenport and wife Dorothy of Eugene, Oregon and Jim Davenport and wife Linda of LaPine, Oregon. And many, many friends and in-laws who loved her very much.

Pallbearers were John Crow, Dusty Daniels, Jim Hancock, Robbie Lawson, William Maxwell and Huey O’Neal. Honorary Pallbearers were: James Coley, Pat Coley, Billy Helms, Gary Hemphill, David Knickerbocker, Jimmy Nowlin, L.E. “Popeye” Pardue and Freddy Thompson.

Paul Daniel Jinks (04-18-2007)
Paul Daniel Jinks was born August 5, 1931 in Farmerville. Paul made his mark on life as a graduate of Farmerville High School in 1951, participating in all sports and activities. He was born one of eight children to Artie and Lonie Jinks. Paul went into the Coast Guard and received an honorable discharge after an injury. He was a journeyman glazier in Shreveport where he met the love of his life and surviving spouse Marie (Davidson) Jinks. They were married Jan. 24, 1954 in Shreveport, LA and had two children Paula Diane and Billy Duane. He had many accomplishments and is admired and respected by many.
Paul owned and operated Union Glass and Mirror in Farmerville for 20 years. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Artie and Lonie P. Jinks, one sister Selma Cofield. Paul is survived by his wife of 53 years Catherine Marie Jinks, daughter Paula Diane Skeels and husband Melvin; son Billy Duane Jinks & wife Nina; grandchildren Jeremy Skeeles and wife Connie, Katie Black & husband Josh, Holly Griffin and husband Patrick, Lucas Jinks. Great grandchildren: Jordan & Johnathan Skeeles, Avery Griffin. Sisters: Eva Johnston, Doris Keene, Marie Lang & Beatrice Gray. Brothers: Vaughn Jinks and wife Parsy, Lamar Jinks & wife Kim.

He also leaves a very faithful pet Penny. He will be missed by many friends and family that are too numerous to mention. Services for Paul Daniel Jinks were at Farrar Funeral Home at 2 p.m. April 17. Bro. Harvey Hoffman officiated at the ceremonies assisted by Bro. David Martin.

Pallbearers will be Billy Grafton, Sam Mashaw, Ed Aulds, Glynn Johnston, Bruce Gray and James Norwood. Honorary pallbearers are John Drew Taylor and Morris Gilmore.

Burial followed at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Gladys Stokes Harrell (04-18-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Stokes Harrell, 94, of Sterlington, LA were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington, with Rev. Kurt Anger officiating. interment followed in Liberty Cemetery in Linville, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Harrell Passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Timber Lake Nursing Home in Farmerville. She was a member of Paron Baptist Church. Mrs. Harrell enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She loved to cook, mow her yard, spending time outdoors, and attending church services.

Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thurston Stokes; mother, Emma Nolan Stokes Parks; daughter, Deborah Kay Harrell; husband, Vernon Harrell; stepfather, John Reeves Parks; four brothers, Ed Stokes, John “Sugar Boy” Parks, Jack Parks, and Little Buddy Parks; and one sister, Mildred Parks Love.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Angela Denise Neighbors; grandson, Jerry Lloyd Neighbors, Jr.; great grandson, Kenneth Lloyd Neighbors; sister, Nellie Parks Megison; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

Pallbearers were Randy Parks, Thomas Hollis, Danny Martin, Paul New, Robin Parks, and Dennis Stokes. Alternate pallbearer was Ernest McCurly.

Honorary pallbearers were Jasper Snell, Sidney Stokes, J. M. Roberson, Stanley Stokes, and Kenn Harrell.

Visitation was Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
