Funeral services for Shannon A. Hodges 34, of Farmerville, LA were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 18, 2007 at Antioch Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating was Rev. Paul Carter and Rev. George Bonner. interment was held at Liberty Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Shannon Passed away from injuries sustained in a auto accident on April 14, 2007 He was very outgoing and loved his drag racing and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his brother Shane B. Hodges of Farmerville; 2 sisters, Regina Acree of West Monroe; Ramona Shaver and husband Robert of Monroe; three sons, Shannon Austin of Farmerville; Chris Redden and Brad Redden of Farmerville; mother of his children Mary Hodges of Farmerville; fiance, Vicky of Spearsville; nieces and nephews, Peyton Guyotte and Alexis Guyotte of Downsville; Olivia Hope Hodges and Gunner Shane Hodges of Downsville; Christy Dowdy, Misty Acree, Cassey Primm, David Acree, his foster parent Ed Hensen, Ed Jr. and wife Terri Henson, and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike Skains, Austin Keshner, Jay Yelton, Keith Johnson , Danny Riley, Stan Gloson, David Acree and Eddie Dixon.

Honorary Pallbearers were Rex Skains, James Pridgen and Employees of Pilgrim Pride.

Mrs. Novie Ann Groves Smith (04-25-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Novie Ann Groves Smith, 67, of Farmerville were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Canterberry officiating. interment was in Conway Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Smith, a retired CNA, died Sunday, April 15, 2007.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Smith and parents, Jimmie & Estelle Groves.

Survivors include 1 son: J. D. Smith & wife, Gail of Farmerville
1 daughter: Mona Bridges & husband, Tommy of Sylacauga, AL.
7 grandchildren: Jimmy, Johnny & Joseph Smith, Christopher & Stephen Cross, Melissa Perez and Melinda Crawford; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Anthony Yakaboski, Jimmy Johnny & Joseph Smith, Augie Perez, & Howard Gibson.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Farrar Funeral Home.

Jesse S. Feazel (04-25-2007)
Funeral Services for Jesse S. Feazel, 81, of Farmerville, LA, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Salem Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating was Rev. Willie Cottrell and Rev. David Martin. interment followed in Liberty Hill Taylor Cemetery in Farmerville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mr. Feazel was a charter member and a Deacon of Salem Baptist church. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his grandchildren and he loved gardening. He was very active with the Union Parish Triad.

He is survived by his wife Rose Mary Feazel of Farmerville, LA; son, Wayne Feazel and wife Cathey of Farmerville, LA; 3 grandchildren, Chasity Tynes and husband Mike, Cameron Feazel and Derick Feazel. 4 great- grandchildren Zachary, Gabriel, Juliana and Nikolas Tynes; 2 step children, David Roan and wife Wanda and Roxie Roan of Farmerville, LA; 3 step-grandchildren, Andy Roan and wife Kristie, Rosanne Synder and husband Eric, John Roan and wife Allison. 8 step-great-grandchildren, Anna, Mathew and Andrew Roan; Samuel and Ben Snyder, Elise, John Wesley and Olivia Roan, many other family and friends.
Pallbearers: John Roan, Andy Roan, Cameron Feazel, Derick Feazel, Don Nyegaard and Charles Nyegaard.

Troy Lee ‘Cotton’ Tubbs (05-02-2007)
Funeral services for Troy Lee “Cotton” Tubbs 83 years old, of Conway, were held on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Conway Baptist Church, Conway with Bro. Terry Mims and Bro. Matt Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Conway Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Born on August 2, 1923, in Union Parish, he Passed away on April 10, 2007, at Union General Hospital in Farmerville following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. “Cotton” as he was known by his old friends, was a retired pipefitter with IMC of Sterlington, LA. He bravely served our country in World War II in the U.S. Army, Troop B, 112th Calvary. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal with 2 bronze stars, a purple heart and the World War II victory medal. He was a member of Conway Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jess and Aliphair Hodge Tubbs, brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Hazel Tubbs, brothers-in-law, Dewitt Daniels and George Earl Kyle, infant brother, Jack, sisters, Florene and Sybil, infant grandson, Anthony Ryan Cole, and infant, great-grandson, Cooper Wyatt Englerth.

Survivors include: his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Shadic Tubbs, of Conway; daughters, Charlotte Johnston and husband, Van, of Downsville, Judy Cole and husband, Dickey, Shirley Rowell, Kathy Simpson and husband, Kenny, all of Conway; grandchildren, Shannon Johnston Barkley and husband, Kevin, John Van Johnston, Jr. Allison Johnston Isaac and husband Barry, all of Downsville; Jay Johnston and wife Wendy of West Monroe; Brad Rowell, April Simpson Kaheiki and husband Thomas, Kim Cole Englerth and husband, Will, all of Connway; Shawn Simpson and wife Vannette, of Sterlington; and Toni Cole Edwards and husband, Matt, of Bishop, Ga.; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Daniels and Melba Kyle of Conway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Brad Rowell, Jay Johnston and Shawn Simpson, nephews, Jerry Daniels and Kim Kyle, and cousin Gary Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers were grandson, John Johnston, nephews, Danny Tucker and Gene Shadic and longtime friend, Corbertt Dison. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, anmd raising a vegetable garden.

Even though he lost his sight years ago, he received great joy in teaching his grandsons to hunt for squirrels and deer and fish for bream on his beloved “the Louter”, Bayou D’Loutre. Known to his grandchildren as Pappaw or just Pap, he was dearly loved by them.
To his daughters, he was Daddy, and he will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Alma Mae Griffing Platt (05-02-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Mae Griffin Platt, 82, of Marion, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Jamie Orten and Rev. Terry Baze officiating. interment followed in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Platt was born March 18, 1925 in Fountain Hill, AR and Passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007. She was a member of D’Arbonne Church of Christ in Farmerville, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, June C. Platt; and son, Jerry N. Waldrup.

Survivors include her two sons, Lloyd H. Waldrup and wife Gail of Kamath Falls, OR, and Gene A. Waldrup and wife Carolyn of Gresham, OR; two daughters, Terry M. Tomera and husband Marlon of Marion, LA, and Janet L. Casper and husband Barry of West Monroe, LA; one sister, Kathleen Sliger of Mer Rouge, LA; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Barry Casper, Marlon Tomera, Paul Casper, Adam Tomera, Gene Waldrup, and Phillip Barefoot. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Waldrup, James Sanner, Glen Post, Jr., Glen Post, III, Mark Elliott, Sr., Richard Mott, Dane Raymond, and Brad Post.

Visitation was Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Joseph Dalton Smith (05-16-2007)
Funeral services for Joseph Dalton Smith 22, of Farmerville, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville LA. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Canterbury. interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Farmerville, LA. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Joseph was born on February 14, 1985 in Shreveport. He Passed away on May 12, 2007 in Panola, Texas , from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA, he is preceded in death by his grandparents; Jimmie and Gladys Ray, and Dalton and Novie Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Alissa Isabel Smith, Fiance’, Michelle Crain of Farmerville, LA; parents, Gail and J.D. Smith of Farmerville, LA; brothers, Jimmy Smith, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Marion, LA; Johnny Smith of Farmerville, LA; mother-in-law Diane Crain and father-in-law Rusty of Farmerville, LA; brother –in-law Michael Crain and sister-in-law Crystal of Farmerville, LA; Michelle’s grandpa that Joseph called Paw Jones, 2 nieces Jade Smith and Kaylynn Crain, nephew, Hunter Crain, many aunts, uncles, and cousins along with lots of friends.

Daddy, I really didn’t know you very well but I know you held me. But when I get older moma will show me all the pictures of you and tell me all kinds of stories about you. Daddy, I love you and I will see you soon, me and moma will be up there with you one day and we can share our stories together, I Love you and moma does to,
Love Alissa Isabel Smith.

Pallbearers will be Michael Crain, Shane Boggs, Greg Templeton, Jay Aquilar, Shannon Dumas and Mark Bearden.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Chris Patton, Mark Crabtree and David Sonier.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Connie Gay Lee Tucker (05-23-2007)
On October 3, 1950, Connie Gay Lee Tucker was born to George and Ruth Lee. She was married to Danny Tucker for 37 years and had two girls that she dearly loved. On May 20, 2007 at the age of 56, God called Connie home to be with Him and her parents after a seven year battle with cancer. She Passed away at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

Connie was a retired employee of CenturyTel, a loving wife and mother, and an avid supporter of the cancer support group – Circle of Friends.
Her involvement with the Circle of Friends organization was tireless. She provided support for many newly diagnosed cancer patients by sitting with them through chemo treatments, providing information, and moral support so new patients would continue to have a positive outlook.

Visitation was on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Funeral services are to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Conway Baptist Church on with Bro. Terry Mims and Bro. Matt Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Conway Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Kimball, David Yarborough, Jeremy Hobbs, Danny Frasier, Jerry Daniels and George Upshaw.

Connie is preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Ruth Lee and her father-in-law, George Earl Kyle.

She leaves to carry on her memory her husband, Danny Tucker of Farmerville; daughters and sons-in-law, Mandi and Joe booth and Marcie and Jayme Parker all of Farmerville; one special friend who has been like a son – Daniel Kimball of Farmerville; one sister and brother-in-law – Mary and Jerry Matthews of Farmerville; Mother-in-law – Melba Kyle of Marion; brother-in-law and sister-in-law – George (Kim) and Shirley Kyle of Marion; one niece – Kelsey Kyle of Marion; and two nephews – Todd and Thad Matthews of Farmerville.
Donations can be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Etta Mae Barron (05-30-2007)
Etta Mae Barron, born on June 12, 1916, died in Farmerville at 2:30 a.m., May 28, 2007 after a short illness. Her funeral will take place in the Farmerville Baptist Church at 2 p.m, Thursday. Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville will conduct the burial and she will be interred in the Farmerville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Hoyt Tettleton, Larry McBride, Tony Knight, Gene Barron, Max Williams, Ryan McGlone, and Timothy McGlone.

A lifelong resident of Union Parish, Aunt Etta Mae made her home for the last several years in The Arbor assisted living facility in Farmerville. One of nine children of Emmett Everett Harrison, Sr and wife Mae Holloway of Fork-a-Loutre (Laran) Community, she joins in death her siblings Lottie Murrel Harrison (died early), Malcolm Williams of Farmerville, Grace Neal of Monroe, Ruby McHenry of Spearsville, Fenner Murphy Harrison of Utah, Field Burgay Harrison of Arkansas (twins), Emmett Everett Harrison, Jr of Idaho, and Robbie Lea Grice of Utah.

When Etta Mae’s father died in 1929, her mother married Berry Abbet of Spearsville, and Etta Mae and two younger siblings grew up in that village. In Spearsville, she later courted Gurvis E. Barron, who at the time was working in his older brother Joe’s cotton gin about a half mile from there, and they married on January 12, 1936. Etta Mae and Gurvis subsequently moved to Farmerville, where they first lived in two locations in front of Farmerville High School then later in an apartment in the home of Mrs. Cecilia Arent Taylor . While Gurvis served in the South Pacific during World War II, Etta Mae worked in Grafton’s Five and Ten Cent Store in Farmerville. Her niece Gloria Williams lived with her during that time and commuted to Louisana Tech. When Gurvis returned from service, they bought a lot in front of Mrs. Taylor ’s residence and built a house. Etta Mae continued working in Grafton’s and also as a typist in the courthouse.

Etta Mae and Gurvis did not have children. However, they raised Juanita Marilyn McHenry, only child of her deceased sister Ruby. Juanita married James Hamilton and had Lynn McGlone Knight of Atlanta and Steve Hamilton of Illinois. Juanita died several years ago. Etta Mae recently spent two months in Atlanta with her grandddaughter Lynn M. Knight and husband Tony recovering from a fall that broke a hip and a wrist. Besides grandchildren Lynn and Steve, Etta Mae leaves many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews who cared deeply for her, including Gene Barron, Peggy Rogers, Velda Watson, Gloria Laubach, Nona Hubert, Max Williams, Marilyn Harmer, and Pattie Harrison. Etta Mae also had one surviving sister-in-law Vida Harrison, widow of her brother Emmett, who was visiting with her from Idaho during her last illness.

Those who knew Etta Mae will remember that she was a hardworking, caring, thoughtful individual who loved to cook and bake and do things for others. Whenever there was a death, she was always among the first ones to arrive with food for the surviving family members. She had frequent visitors in her home who enjoyed meals prepared with fresh, canned, and frozen vegetables and fruits from their large garden. Etta Mae contributed much to her town, community, family, and friends, and she will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 p.m at Farrar Funeral Home.

Dr. Arthur Claude Wadlington (05-30-2007)
Memorial service for Dr. Arthur Claude Wadlington, age 81, of Farmerville will be held Wednesday May 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Officiating will be Rev. David Martin. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service.
Dr. Wadlington died Friday, May 25th at his residence.

He served Union Parish as a physician for 60 years beginning at age twenty-four. Dr. Wadlington was born August 30, 1925 in Shreveport, graduating from Farmerville High School in 1942 and LSU School of Medicine on May 29, 1948.

“Doc” interned at Charity Hospital in Shreveport. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Korean conflict.

Upon returning to his home-town he opened Wadlington Clinic on June 3, 1949 and was active in his private practice and local nursing homes until the day of his death.
His life-long dedication to his many patients was a fact well known to family and friends.
From Aug. 1, 1972 to July 31, 1974 he studied for the residency in Internal Medicine at Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport.

When Union General Hospital opened in 1974 he became staff physician and served until July 2005.

Dr. Wadlington was a member of Louisiana Medical Society, Farmerville United Methodist Church and former member of Union Parish School Board, American Legion and Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Brown Lambeth and James Garnett Wadlington.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Garnett Wadlington of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana ; grandchildren, Grant Christopher Wadlington, Anne Marie Wadlington and Trent Patrick Wadlington of Lafayette, Louisiana . Stepson, Kerry H. Emmons of Lafayette and granddaughters, Jenna Lee Emmons of Gainsville, Florida and Elizabeth Andree’ Emmons of Fernandina Beach, Florida.

In accordance with the Doctor’s wishes his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, he and his family request any planned memorial be made to the Farmerville United Methodist Church, Louisiana Heart Association or Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, Louisiana .

The Wadlington Family would like to express their appreciation to Dee Bevans and Connie Bearden for their many years of service to Dr. Wadlington’s practice.

Chaney Peppers (06-06-2007)
Funeral services of Charlene W. “Chaney” Peppers, 84, of Lockhart, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Lockhart Church of Christ. interment followed at Olive Branch Cemetery near Lockhart.

James T. ‘PaPaw’ Keysacker, Sr. (06-13-2007)
Funeral services for Mr. James T. “PaPaw” Keysacker, Sr. were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday June 12, 2007 at Rocky Branch Assembly of God in Rocky Branch. Rev. Lloyd Boudlouche and Rev. James Mooney will be officiating. interment followed in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Keysacker, a retired carpenter with union local 1811, died Sunday, June 10, 2007. He was a US Navy veteran having served in WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jim & Jannie Keysacker; Niece-Elizabeth Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 37 and a half years Betty Keysacker of Rocky Branch; 2 sons: Jim Keysacker, Jr. of Downsville and Chris Austin and wife, Kim of West Monroe; Sister and brother-in-law: Bonnie and Charles Thompson of Monroe; Grandson: Jason Lee Cole; Granddaughter: Jannie Cole both of Arkansas. 3 step children: Clyde and Donald Austin of St. Joseph; Melita Storey and husband Audrey Storey of St. Joseph; 2 step grandchildren: Sharon Taylor of Sterlington and Clyde Austin, Jr. of North Carolina; 12 step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers: Clyde Austin, Donald Austin, Aubrey Storey, Rodney Hines, Richard Davis & Melita Storey. Honorary Pallbearers: The doctors that have treated him.

Nelmarie Foote (06-13-2007)
Funeral services for Mrs. Nelmarie Foote, 81, of Point were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 12, 2007 at Point Assembly of God with Bro. Louis Bartett officiating with Benny Reppond assisting. interment followed in the Wilhite Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Foote, a homemaker, died Saturday June 9, 2007. She was a member of Point Assembly of God. She and her husband Loyd Foote had faithfully served as ministers of Marion Assembly of God for 18 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd Foote; Parents-Boyce and Nancy Albritton; Brother-Marvis Albrittton.

Survivors include: 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Clinton and Barbara Foote of Rocky Branch; Donald and Geraldine Foote of West Monroe; David and Jeanie Foote of Crestwood, Ken.; 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Benny Reppond of Opelousas; Othia and David Remore of Point; Cheryl and Goree Antley of Point; 1 brother and sister-in-law: Milton and Joyce Albritton of Calhoun; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Christine Odom Brashier (06-13-2007)
Funeral services for Christine Odom Brashier, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2007 at The Pentecostals of Farmerville with Bro. Lamar Guillot and Bro. Douglas Hicks officiating. interment followed in the Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Brashier, a homemaker, died June 7, 2007.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Littleton N. Jordan, Leroy Odom, Sr. and Carroll Brashier; her parents, Lonnie and Emma Eubanks; and step-son, Leroy Odom, Jr.

She is survived by 3 sons: David Odom and wife, Katie of Jamestown, N.Y.; Steve Odom and wife, Cindy of Keithville; Mark Odom and wife, Patti of Denham Springs; 2 daughters: Barbara Early and husband, George of Mesa, Ariz., and Christie Williamson & husband, Ray of Nashville, Tenn.; 2 step-daughters: Rita Jackson of Haughton, and Sadie Craft of Haughton; 1 brother: Selma Eubanks of Farmerville; 13 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. And a host of other relatives, friends, and her church family.

Visitation was 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Saturday at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
