Marvin Ray Hughes (06-20-2007)
Funeral service for Marvin Ray Hughes, 34, of Dubach, LA was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Bethel Methodist Church in Downsville, LA. Officiating was Rev. Laymon Tucker. interment followed at Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Hughes was an avid outdoorsman. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Anne Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Hughes of Dubach, LA; 3 children, Cody, Brittany, and Sabrina Hughes. Parents, Sherwood and Kathleen Hughes of Downsville, LA; Rusty and Donna Sims of Farmerville; brothers and sisters, Samuel, Jacob and Aimee Hughes, Jennifer Claybrook, step-daughter, Katie and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.

Pallbearers were Sam and Jacob Hughes, Rusty Garner, Heath, Jeremy and Adam Morris.
Visitation was held June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.

Laurie Rabun Hicks (06-25-2007)
Funeral services for Laurie Rabun Hicks will be held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lake Providence, LA, Wednesday, June 27, at 1 p.m. with Father Zacharias Prakuzhy CMI and Rev. Joe Wiggins officiating. interment will follow in the Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence.

The family will receive friends at Cox Funeral Home, on Tuesday, June 26, from 5-9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Laurie went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at her home in Lake Providence at the age of 81. She was born August 26, 1925 in Farmerville.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Van Hicks Sr. of Lake Providence, LA; Son: Van Hicks Jr. of DeRidder; Daughter and son-in-law: Lauren and Joe Wiggins of Eagleville, Tenn; Granddaughter: Erika Fox & husband Greg of Bell Buckle, Tenn; Great Granddaughter: Chloe Stuard of Bell Buckle, Tenn.

She was the youngest of seven children born to Zollie and Etta Smith Rabun. She was precede in death by her parents, her four brothers, Armand (Lizza Belle), Ponk (Gladys), Junior (Joyce), and Bug, and her two sisters, Therese and Sue.

Laurie graduated from Louisiana Tech, where she was known as "Honey". Honey and Coon (Van) are part of the National Association of the Advancement of Grandstand Ouarterbacks, a group of the dearest and closest friends that all went to Louisiana Tech, and still get together once a year.

Laurie and Van moved to Lake Providence in August of 1948. Laurie was a Bookkeeper at the East Carroll Parish School Board office at the time of her retirement. She was a very loving and giving mother and wife. Laurie and Van would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August of this year. An avid golfer, Laurie had her proudest moment when at the age of 77, she hit her first hole-in-one.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we know that she is now in a much better place with her Lord.

Pallbearers will be: Clay Rabun, Billy Nichols, Mark Preaus, Jay McCalum, George Fox, and Wyly Gilfoil.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Hattie Lee Davidson, Mildred House, Mary Sue Parks, Patty Shivers, John Howard, Leo Sanford, Mike Reed, and Coach Jimmy Mize.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lake Providence.

Ouida Owens (06-27-2007)
Services for Ouida Bridges Owens, 78 of Downsville, were held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, with Rev. David Barkley and Rev. Floyd Pate officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Ouida was born on October 22, 1928 in Downsville and Passed away on June 18, 2007 in West Monroe. Ouida was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville.

Ouida was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Owens in March 2006, grandson Charlie Hale in March 2007, parents Alvin and Vivian Bridges, and brother, Leonard Bridges.

She is survived: by one son, Scott Owens and wife Amy of Downsville; daughters, Gerry Brewer and husband Kenneth of Haughton, Beth Hale and husband Danny of Princeton, Fay Hamm and husband Larry of Downsville, Debbie Jones and husband Ricky of Pride, Bridgett Bishop and husband Reggie of West Monroe, Michele McCarty and husband Shane of Downsville. Grandchildren: Brandy Merry and husband Brad of Bossier City, Adam, Daniel, and Amanda Jones of Pride, Gina Brewer of Haughton, Megan and Peyton Owens of Downsville, Ryan and Eric Bishop of West Monroe, Brooke and Dylan McCarty of Downsville. Great Grandchild Kaylee Merry of Bossier City. Brother, Richard Bridges and wife Jo Beth of Downsville, sisters, Mary Ann Weeks and husband Jurd Taylor , AR and Peggy Dison and husband Ken of Knoxville, TN, sister in law Glynda Faye Bridges Pardue and husband Jim of Spearsville and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends

Pallbearers will be Adam Jones, Daniel Jones, Ben Bridges, Marty Boyd, Danny Boyd, Joe Bridges, Johnny Bridges, Buddy Owens and Van Johnston.

Special thanks to Dr. Leary, Sally, and Sue at Oncology Associates and Glenwood ICU doctors, nurses, and staff.

Visitation will be Wednesday 5pm to 8pm at Kilpatrick’s in Farmerville.

Harry Lee Dye (07-05-2007)
Funeral services for Harry Lee Dye, 63, of Farmerville were held at 2 p.m., June 30, 2007 at First Assembly of God of Farmerville with Bros. Ken Richmond, Bill Bearden, Lamar Guillot and Rev. Bobby Dye officiated. Burial followed in the Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mr. Dye, a carpenter, died June 28, 2007.

He was preceded in death by parents Gaston & Annie Dye; grandson, Chase Dye; brother, Jerry Dye and brother-in-law, David Rainbolt.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Dye of Farmerville,
2 sons: Junior Dye & wife, Sharon of Eros, LA. and Shane Dye & wife, Traci of Farmerville; 1 daughter: Haley Dye of Farmerville;

5 brothers: John Dye & wife, Deloris of Bastrop; Joe Dye & wife, Barbara of Mer Rouge; Gene Dye & wife, Sylvia of Crossett AR.; Kenny Dye & wife, Linda of Bastrop; Bobby Dye & wife, Janice of Bossier City, LA.;

3 sisters: Diane Ragus & husband, Jerry of Marietta, GA.; Sue Rainbolt of Bastrop, LA.; and Toni Clark & husband, George of Bastrop.

5 Grandchildren: Trey Dye, Jordan Dye, Brittany Dye, Roxi and Gregory Mackens.
Pallbearers were Kim Cranford, John Haddox, Randall Bonnett, Odell Bonnett, Lathe Alford, and Ron Nobles.

Honorary pallbearer: Jamie Silmon.

Visitation was from5-8 p.m. Friday at Farrar Funeral Home.

Judy Lynn (McKinnie) Clack (07-05-2007)
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Judy Lynn (McKinnie) Clack, a resident of Vancouver, WA, will be held at 2 p.m., Fri. June 29, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. Rev. Steve Nelson will be officiating. interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Linville, LA.

Mrs. Clack was born on December 10, 1945 in Monroe, LA to Zera and Arvis McKinnie. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2007 in Vancouver, WA. She was a talented florist and had a special gift for embracing everyone that she met. Judy successfully owned and operated “The Flower Tree” and “North Monroe Flower and Gift Shop” in Monroe, LA for numerous years. Her greatest accomplishments and joys in life were those moments spent with her family and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and adoring grandmother, who dedicated her life to serving her Lord, family and others and loved beyond measure. Her sweet spirit captured the heart of everyone and she will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters: Geraldine Weir and Eloise Beaird.

Mrs. Clack is survived by her husband of 37 years: Jerry R. Clack; son: Justin R. Clack and wife, Sarah; three adorable grandchildren: James R., Elizabeth L., and Thomas J. Clack.
Although we will miss her ever so deeply, we rejoice in the knowing she is safe and free from pain residing in the warmth of Heaven.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA.

A memorial service will be held in Vancouver, WA at a later date.

Danny Bayles (07-05-2007)
Graveside services for Danny Bayles, 54, of Lakeland, FL. (formerly of Downsville) will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thurs., July 5, 2007 at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Bayles died of a stroke on June 27, 2007 at the age of 54. He was born on December 5, 1952 in Ruston, LA. and was a construction superintendent for KB Homes.
He is survived by his mother, Winona Rinesmith of Lakeland, FL.; father, Lonnie L. Bayles of Downsville, LA.; 2 sons, Gabriel Bayles of Houston TX. and Stephen Bayles of CA.; 3 daughters, Tamara Hancock of Houston, TX., Amber Bayles of CA., and Santana Johnson of Peoria, IL.; 2 sisters, Debbie Bryant of Pinecrest and Amanda Rinesmith of Lakeland, a brother, Jay Rinesmith of Lakeland; and 4 grandchildren.

John Samuel “Johnny” Medlin Jr. (07-18-2007)
Funeral services for John Samuel “Johnny” Medlin Jr., 61, of Marion, La., were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Bro. Bubba Hoggatt. interment followed at Marion Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. Medlin was the owner and operator of Medlin Saw Shop in Marion, La. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, and he also enjoyed spending time at the farm with his game fowl.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Medlin of Marion; daughter, Sonya Baker and husband Buzz of Marion; grandson, Garris Baker of Marion; brothers and sisters, Walter Medlin and wife Donna of Marion; Dottie Farr and husband Lum of Weatherford, TX; Wade Medlin and wife Moira of Marion; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice Care, 902 South Vienna, Ruston, La. 71270.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, La.

Pallbearers were Stanley Read, Lawrence Lane, Lany Parker, Tommy Head, Glen Smith and Allen Booker.

Ernelle Malone Holley (07-18-2007)
Funeral services for Ernelle Malone Holley, 87, of Monroe (formerly of Farmerville) were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 12, 2007 at Ward Chapel Church of Christ, Farmerville with minister Harold Robertson and Mrs. Holley’s grandson, Rayland Trisler officiating. Burial followed in Antioch Cemetery, Farmerville. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mrs. Holley, a homemaker, died July 9, 2007. She was a member of Ward Chapel Church of Christ in Farmerville. In her senior years, she attended Forsythe Ave. Church of Christ in Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Marvin Malone and Victor “Vic” Holley; parents: Reuben Dean and Docia Taylor Dean; three brothers & sisters-in-law: James & Arrie Crow Dean, Kelvin & Earlene Hayes Dean, Gladden Dean and Elva Grey Nolan Dean; one sister & brother-in-law: Mary Lonia Dean Tucker & husband, R. P.; one brother-in-law, R.V. Hayes Grandson: Jerel Guy; nephew & niece-in-law: Bobby & Betty Antley Tucker; and nephew-in-law: Jurd Brantley.

She is survived by one son: Ralph Malone & wife, Evelene Arrant Malone of Atlanta, GA.; five daughters & sons-in-law: Barbara Malone Brantley & husband, Gale “Hoss” Brantley of Farmerville, LA., Mary Malone Franklin & husband, Donnie of Monroe, LA., Barbara Holley Rea & husband, Don of West Monroe, LA., Patsy Holley Guy & husband, Vernon of West Monroe, LA., and Brenda Holley Reed & husband, Bruce of Collinston, LA.; one sister: Reba Hayes of Calhoun, LA.; one brother-in-law: Willard Holley of Bastrop, LA.; two sisters-in-law: Louise Malone Bucklin of Jackson , MS. and Mary Lou Malone Kruger & husband, Bob of Auburn, GA.; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and nephews: Alan Malone, Harrell Wilson, Brian Chambley, Wayne Maureau, Hunter Sharp, Joey Guy, Ronnie Hayes, Eric Guy, Andy Danna and Gus Schreiber.

Visitation was 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at Farrar Funeral Home, Farmerville.

Shane Brooks Colvin (07-18-2007)
Funeral Service for Shane Brooks Colvin, 38, of Downsville, LA were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, LA.

Officiating was Bro. Keith Roberts. interment will be at Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.

Mr. Colvin was the plant manager for Century Ready Mix. He is preceded in death by his father, William Lee Colvin, Sr.; niece, Sarah Lindsey Williams; brother-in-law, James Huey Audirsch.

He is survived by his wife Angel Audirsch Colvin and son, T.J. Colvin of Downsville, LA.; mother, Janet Colvin Albritton and husband Parky of Farmerville, LA; brother, William Lee Colvin , Jr. and wife Susan of Haughton, LA; sister, Shannon Colvin Matthews and husband Mark of Downsville, LA; special friend, Mike Nolan and wife Theresa of Downsville, LA; nieces and nephews, Dustin Colvin, Savannah Williams, Jeremy Colvin, Cody Colvin, Caitlin Colvin, mother and father -in-law Rosie Lee and Billy Ray Audirsch, many aunts and uncles, other relatives, friends, and Team Penners across the nation.

Bryan Keith Whittington (07-25-2007)
Services for Bryan Keith “B.K.” Whittington, 40, of West Monroe were held Friday, July 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville with Larry White , Curtis Wilson and Rev. Paul Carter officiating.

Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery in Farmerville. Visitation will be Thursday night, July 19, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bryan Passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in Colorado as a result of an automobile accident.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Terri Lynn Denton Whittington: daughter, Hannah and son, Drew of Sterlington: step-son, Madison Ginn and special niece, Heather Denton of West Monroe.

Other survivors include his mother, Patsy Nolan of Farmerville: his father, Victor Whittington and wife, Ellen of Start: sister, Terri Lynn Thornton and husband, Brad of Sterlington and brother Lloyd “ Mike” Whittington of Farmerville and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Tommy Burnside.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Doris Whittington of Fairbanks and Guy and Missie Nolan of Swartz, LA.

Bryan was a devoted husband, father, son and friend and will truly be missed by many. He will be lovingly remembered for his big heart and personality.

Pallbearers were: Chris Goodrich, Chip Payne, Mark Sutton, Jody Brantley, Todd Turner and Timmy Tatum.

Honorary pallbearers: Jim Williams, Greg Williams, Steele Nugent, Rusty Harper, and Sergio Mojica.

Guy A. Ludwig (07-25-2007)
Funeral services for Guy A. Ludwig, 81, of Ruston, LA., formerly of Farmerville, LA. will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville with Bro. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Enterprise Cemetery, Sterlington Hwy., Farmerville. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mr. Ludwig was born on July 14, 1926 and went home to be with his Lord on July 19, 2007 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman until failing eyesight in his later years made it impossible for him to continue the sports he so dearly loved.

Mr. Ludwig was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lucille Ludwig; infant son, Richard Owen Ludwig; son-in-law, Ronnie Nolan; four brothers, Murton Ludwig, Burton Ludwig, Bill Ludwig, and J. D. Ludwig, and one sister, Marie Weeks.

He is survived by one son, Mike Ludwig and wife, Dusty of Marion, LA.; one daughter, Bonnie Nolan of Ruston, LA.; two granddaughters, Candy Ford and husband, Dennis of Ruston, LA. and Rebekah Ludwig of Monroe, LA.; two great grandchildren, Kennedy Ford and Eden Ford of Ruston, LA.; one sister, Virginia Hattaway of Bonita, LA. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ludwig’s family would like to say thank you to each and every person who had a part in his care-giving during the last few years of his life, and especially during the last month when he was so very ill. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the employees of Alpine Nursing Home in Ruston, especially to Mrs. Nita Fields, Mr. Elton Dugan, and their fine nursing staff. Also, we say a special thanks to Dr. Glenn Figueroa of the Lincoln Medical Plaza and his nurse, Christy, for their loving care and concern, and to the employees of the Northeast LA War Veterans Home in Monroe for the good care he received during the last days of his life.

Pallbearers will be Carlton Weeks, Jurd Weeks, Donnie Ludwig, Brooks Hattaway, Larry Booth and Randy Giddens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Giddens, Whit Fitzgerald and Miller Booth.
