Robin

Norman Joseph Robin, a native of Larose and resident of Cut Off, passed away on Feb. 15. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Robin is survived by his wife, Nora Toups Robin, sons Floyd and Danny Robin, daughters Nellie McBride and Nora Danos, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Edverine Robin, and brothers Vincent III and Eugene Robin.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 17 at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church in Larose.

Stephens

Fred Leroy Stephens, a native of Birmingham, Ala. and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 23. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his brother, Paul L. Stephens, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children and three great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margurite Cornwell Stephens, parents Zach and Rosalee Johnson Stephens, stepson Leland Stephens, daughter Clara Lee Stephens Candies, brother J.W. Stephens and sister Ruby L. Snyder. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Religious services were held on Feb. 26 at Des Allemands Baptist Church.

Tassin

Phillip Bobby Tassin, Sr., of Norco, passed away on Feb. 18 at the age of 57.

Mr. Tassin is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelien V. “Slim” Tassin and Rosalie Tamurello Tassin, and his brother, Kenneth Tassin. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cook Tassin, son Phillip B. Tassin, Jr. and Elaine Tassin Fitzgerald and Theresa Tassin Judd, stepdaughters Barbara Walker Dufrene and Jean Walker Tassin, brother Aurelien V. “A.J.” Tassin, sisters Joanne Tassin Caronna, Diane Tassin, Debra Tassin Waguespack, six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 20 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.

Beck

Robert Howard Beck, resident of Harvey and former resident of Luling, passed away on March 30. He was 56 years old.

He is survived by his sons, Lee and Edward Beck, grandchildren Brandy, Eddie, Shelby and Sherri Beck, siblings Mary Beck Newcombe, Chase Mills, Patricia Beck Adams and Michelle Beck Tilyou, aunt Dorothy Beck Bumgarner Bushnell, beloved companion Shirley Williams and her children, nine nephews and six nieces.

A memorial service was held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Harvey on April 2.

Boudreaux

Ellis J. Boudreaux, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Gramercy, passed away on March 30. He was 55 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette “Ann” Ockman Boudreaux, son Wade M. Boudreaux, brother Wayne and his wife Caren Boudreax, brother Randy and his wife Pam Boudreaux, sister-in-law Ruth Ockman Sweeny and her husband Jeff, sister-in-law Elma Ockman and brother-in-law Phillip Ockman, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Services were held on April 2 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.

Comardelle

Estelle Adams Comardelle, a native of Gheens and former resident of Des Allemands, passed away on March 23. She was 84 years old.

Mrs. Comardelle is survived by her sons, Wilton “Strech” Jr., Leslie, Jerry, Richard, Gary and Michael Comardelle, daughters Elma Comardelle Bergeron, Wyonnia Comardelle Romero, Mary Ann Comardelle Pickett and Kathleen Comardelle Rodriguez, sister Josephine Adams Comardelle, 47 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by former husband Wilton Comardelle Sr., parents Antonie Adams Sr. and Josephine Matherne Adams, son Nelton Comardelle, brothers Aldolph, Joseph, Antoine Jr., Fred and Lucian Adams, and sisters Elvere Adams Comardelle and Angelique Adams Cloulee.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on March 25 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.

Gaubert

Ernest “Sonny” “Bulldog” J. Gaubert passed away on March 14 at 8:06 a.m. He was 71 years old.

A native and resident of Luling, Mr. Gaubert was a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Monsanto. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell Gendron Gaubert, sons Reginald and Shawn Gaubert, daughter Erith Sanchez, brothers Edward, Richard and Carroll Gaubert, sisters Alma Gaubert, Mable Gaubert, Vivian Gaubert and Enid Gaubert Halibough, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Veronica Naquin Gaubert, daughter Debora Gaubert, brothers Wallace, Raymond and Sylvester “S.J.” Gaubert, sisters Elise Falgout and Mildred Gaubert and one grandchild.

Religious services were held on March 17 at Boutte Assembly of God Church in Luling.

Herman

Margaret Lanius Herman, resident of Atlanta, passed away from a short illness on March 9 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Herman was a resident of Hahnville from 1946 until 1968 and, during those years, was the librarian at Hahnville High School.

She is survived by her son, Heath Herman, and grandchildren Tod and Kim M. Herman, all of Atlanta. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester H. Herman, and her son, Kent M. Herman.

Louque

Thelma Roux Louque, a native and lifelong resident of Norco, passed away on March 31. She was 68 years old.

Mrs. Louque is survived by her husband, Herman Louque, daughter JoAnn Schexnaydre and her husband Barry, son Mark Louque and his wife Brenda, daughter Terri Baudier and her husband Bruce, grandchildren Ryan, Jake and Bret Shexnaydre, Brandy and Natalie Louque and Brie Baudier, brother Clay Roux and sister Margie Breaud. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Roux and Angele Troxler Roux, and sister Betty Roux.

Mrs. Louque was a homemaker and member of the Nifty Fifties and Sacred Heart Ladies Altar Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 3 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco.

Tabor

Claude Tabor, a native of St. John Parish and resident of Norco, passed away on March 9. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Tabor is survived by his wife, Aline Rodrigue Tabor, children Earline Guidry, Dianne Duhon and Gary John Tabor, Sr., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Albert Tabor.

Services were held on March 12 at St. Charles United Methodist Church.

Weaver

Nola Rochelle Weaver, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan, passed away on March 25. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Weaver was a parishoner and active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church for over 80 years. She has served as president and member of the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, CCD religion teacher, League of Sacred Heart and SCB PTA.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Verna and C.J. Simoneaux and Joan and Roland Becnel, son and daughter-in-law J. Michael and Avis Weaver, grandchildren Dennis and Jeff Simoneaux, Jill S. Clement, Greg Boyne, Jennifer B. Aupied and Jay and Jenell Weaver, great-grandchildren Abey and Austin Simoneaux, Cole, Reece and Brock Clement, Tyler Borne and Matthew and Nathan Aupied and her sister Vivian Rochelle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Rochelle and theresa Poche, brothers George, J.B. and William Rochelle and sisters Therese Guillot, Blanche Robicheaux, Norma, Lucette, Lucille and Eileen Rochelle.

A mass was held on March 27 at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Bennett

William W. Bennett, “Captain Bill,” passed away on April 14. He was 78 years old.

A native of Union City, Tenn. and a 28-year resident of Destrehan, Mr. Bennett was a dredge boat captain and a World War II veteran, serving the Army as a machine gunner on the front lines as U.S. forces came ashore at Normandy. He also toured France and the Rhineland and was a prisoner of war in Germany for seven and a half months. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and three Battle Stars for his service.

He is survived by his son Keith Bennett and his wife Christine, grandchildren Kelly, Sarah, Brian, April, William and Kimberly and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Tullis Bennet, parents Zack and Gertrude Bennett and children Wilborn Terry, Royce Kim and Deborah Kay Bennet.

Services were held on April 23 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher followed by entombment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan.

Boudreaux

Harry J. “Blackie” Boudreaux, a retired delivery man, passed away on April 28. He was 67 years old.

Mr. Boudreaux was native of Napoleonville and 25-year resident of Luling before returning to Napoleonville 15 years ago. He is survived by his companion, Joyce Naquin, sons Byron Boudreaux, Harry J. Boudreaux and David Boudreaux, daughter Beryl Ann Boudreaux Lato, sisters Gertie Forest and Therese Whatley and eight grandchildren.

A Mass was held on May 1 at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville.

Bourgeois

Marguerite Marie Hymel Bourgeois passed away on April 27. She was 87 years old.

She is survived by her brothers, Donald, Russell and Huey Hymel, sisters Yolande H. Waguespack, Irma H. Marchadie, Geraldine Hymel, Rowena H. Labat, Faye H. Troxclair, Elaine H. Troxclair and Frances H. Poirrier, stepdaughter Marilyn Bush and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eric Bourgeois, parents Marie W. Hymel and Dozillia J. Hymel, siblings Leonie and Richard Hymel and stepdaughter Vilman Beaucoudray.

Services will be held on April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie starting at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 8 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Chaisson

Althea Chaisson, 91, passed away on April 15 at Bethany Health Care Center in Lafayette. She was a native of Kraemer and a resident of Morgan City.

She was retired from Lakewood Hospital, now Teche REgional Medical Center, in Morgan City after 33 years of service, having worked in the Sterile Central Department of the hospital. She was a past recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award from the Morgan City AARP, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City, the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Auxiliary of Lakewood Hospital and numerous other volunteer organizations in Morgan City.

She is survived by one son, Aren J. Chaisson Jr., of Lafayette, two daughters, Elizabeth “Billie” Gros of Paradis and Mary Chaisson Theriot of Lafayette, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aren Joseph Chaisson Sr., and her parents, Elizabeth Cortez Loupe and Joseph Loupe.

Mass was held on April 24 followed by burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Falgout

Hilda Grabert Falgout, a native and resident of Raceland, passed away on April 25. She was 88 years old.

She is survived by her daughters, Danielle Pierce and Carolyn Legnon, brother Evariste Grabert, Jr., sisters Esther Mayet and Eunice Falgout, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Evariste Grabert Sr. and Lucia Guidry Grabert, brothers Euclid and Hubert Grabert and sister Ada Breaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 28 at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church in Mathews.

Folse

Charles Vincent Folse, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on April 16. He was 72 years old.

Mr. Folse was a US Army veteran, survived by his wife, Edith Carrere Folse, mother Ourlie Matherne Folse, daughters Gay-Lynn Folse and Laura F. LeBlanc and brother Malcolm Folse. He is preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Folse.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 21 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church.

Fox

Landry Fox passed away on April 30. He was 93 years old. Son of the late Isadore and Celestine Fox, stepson of the late Marshall Franklin, Sr., beloved husband of the late Beatrice J. Fox, father of Ethel Russell, brother of Mary Jackson, Martha Gross, Isiah Franklin, Sr., Matthew Franklin, the late Marshall Franklin, Jr., Susan F. Davis and Noella Rivers. Grandfather of Claude Russel. Father-in-law of Glenn Russell. Brother-in-law of Thelma D. Franklin and Rosalie J. Tiller. Godfather of Rosalie L. Ramsey, Alfred Gross and Edward Pierre. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A native of Wallace and resident of Hahnville, a funeral was held on May 3 at True Vine Baptist Church in Hahnville.
