Hebert

Alton Antoine Hebert, a retired professional photographer, died of liver complications on Nov. 27 in Diamondhead, Miss. He was 64 years old.

Mr. Hebert was born in Houma and lived in Luling, then moved to Diamondhead. He was a former employee of Avondale Shipyards and owner of Artistic Photography. He was an extremely devoted father and husband.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Verne Hebert. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hebert of Diamondhead, son Timothy Hebert of Gulfport, Miss., daughter Elizabeth Osborne of Hurricane, W.V.; brother Hymel Henry and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Nov. 29 at St. William Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Rotten Bayou.

Henderson

William J. “Bill” Henderson died on Nov. 28 as the result of an accident. He was 45 years old.

He was the beloved husband of Teresa Ann Detillier Henderson, father of Christine, Timothy, Matthew, Joseph and William Henderson Jr., son of Donald T. and Mary C. Henderson and brother of Suzanne Henderson.

Mr. Henderson was a native of Metairie and resident of Ama. A Funeral Mass was held on Dec. 1 at the Metairie Chapel of Lamana Panno Fallo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are preferred.

Jett

Catherine H. Jett passed away on Nov. 22.

Born on October 1, 1919, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Jett Jr., her son the Rev. Willis W. Jett III and her daughter, Laura J. Landry. She is survived by her brothers, Phillip Hardcaste, Percy O’Quinn and Rufus O’Quinn; daughter Mary C. Brumfield and her husband Al; son James Jet and his wife Rachel; daughter-in-law Tommie Jett; grandchildren Warren Jett IV, Kathleen Thornton, Claudia Ross and Caryn Roland and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jett was a resident of St. Charles Parish for over 50 years and a member of West St. Charles Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at West St. Charles Baptist Church on Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. until noon. Funeral services will begin at noon.

Pfister

Joanne J. Pfister, resident of LaPlace, died on Nov. 18. She was 62.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Paul Pfister Sr., sons Paul Pfister Jr., William Pfister Sr. and Mark Allen Pfister, and five grandchildren.

Services were held on Nov. 21 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.

Raiche

Gertrude Pullen Raiche, 91, of Flatwoods, KY, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Kingsbrook Life Care Center.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1913 in Memphis, TN, a resident of Luling for fifty years; and a resident of Flatwoods, KY for 18 years.

She was the wife of the late Anthony Henry Raiche.

Mrs. Raiche enjoyed reading, needlework, and music. While living in Louisiana she was a member of the Altar Society at St. Anthony of Padua Church.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, H. Anthony (Tony) and Myra Raiche of Russell, KY and Herbert L. and Diana Dudoit Raiche of Sterling, VA; seven grandchilodren, Naulayne (Michael) Enders, Bryan Enders, Emily Mills, Srah Mills, Benjamin Mills, Adin Raiche; four nieces Martha Jane Pullen Tibbs, Joann Taylor Harris, Harriet Richard (George) Williamson, Emily Jane Richard Zeringue and one nephew Raymond Sayle.

Preceeding in death were her parents, John Thomas Pullen and Theresa May Miller Pullen; two sisters, Sue Pullen Sayle Lea and Rachel Pullen Taylor and two brothers, Herbert Pullen and John Thomas Pullen, Jr.

Following a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church in Ashland, KY on Saturday Nov. 6, the remains will be transported to Luling. Additional visitation will be at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Luling on Monday Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. with final commendation and farewell services at noon.

Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery Holy Savior Mausoleum in Luling immediately following farewell services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 900 Winchester Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.

Robert

Eunice Gaubert Robert, a native and resident of Luling, died Nov. 10. She was 88.

Robert is survived by her husband, Lawrence F. Robert Sr.; two sons, Lawrence F. Robert Jr. and Ralph J. Robert Sr.; daughter, Elaine St. Pierre; brother, Irby Gaubert; sisters, Ethel Keller, and Leah Rae Cantrelle; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Leah Zeringue Gaubert; brothers, Lawrence, Emmerson, Norman, Clifford, and Dennis Gaubert; and sister, Agnes Adams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Nov. 15 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Burial will be in St. Charle Cemetary in Luling. In lieu of flowers please donate to Louisiana Alzheimer’s Association or River Region Hospice. Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc. of Raceland was in charge of arrangements.

Rosette

Emelda Sophie Rosette, a resident of Edgewood, MD. and native of Hahnville, passed away on Nov. 28. She was 54 years old.

Ms. Rosette was a homemaker, a graduate of George Washington Carver High School and was a member of True Vine Baptist Church in Hahnville and Gospel Tabernacle in Havre de Grace, MD.

She is preceded in death by her father, Isiah Gross Jr., father-in-law Hurley Rosette Sr., godmother Myrtle Gross and brother-in-law Herbert Lee Rosette.. She is survived by her mother, Martha Franklin Gross, husband Hurley Rosette Jr., mother-in-law Tarzie Mae Rosette, son Darnell Rosette, daughters Doreen Rosette-Larbi, Ashley Rosette and Brittney Rosette, son-in-law Charles Larbi, daughter-in-law Londa Rosette, grandchildren Christopher, Peter, DaeShawn, Avalon and Reneisha Rosette, sisters, Verna Meyer, Reverend Mary George, Shirley Rhodes, and Martha Gordon, brothers Frederick Tombar, Willie Gross and Alfred Gross, sisters-in-law Patricia Tombar, Marie Gross, Edith Gross, Worinda “Norma” Rosette and Elouise “Ella” Powell, brothers-in-law Reverend Michael George, Lindsey Rhodes Sr., Dale Gordon Sr. and James Columbus Rosette and godfather Matthew Franklin.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 4 at True Vine Baptist Church, 320 Courthouse Lane, Hahnville. Reverend Allen Lagrange Sr. officiated.

Smith

Richard “Richie” Thomas Smith, a framing contractor, died on Nov. 19. He was 28 years old. Mr. Smith was born in Baltimore, Md. and lived in Kenner from 1978 through 1983. He graduated from James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, Md., and in 2000 moved back to Louisiana. He resided in Norco and had many friends and acquaintances. He was an all-star basketball player in high school and an avid sportsman.

He is survived by his companion Holly Duhe, her daughters Mazie and Palse, his son Chance Lawson Smith, parents Richard and Debbie Smith of Covington, sister Stephanie Carey, nephews Riley and Koty and niece Emma of Berlin Md., grandmother Janet Horak of Greenbackville, Va., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was held on Nov. 23 at Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Chance Lawson Michael Smith Fund c/o Hibernia Bank, Covington.

Zeringue

Leola Justin Robert Zeringue died on Nov. 8 at her home in Ama. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her beloved friend and husband of many years Huey Joseph Zeringue, children Danny Mark Zeringue and companion Brenda Robert, Jan Marie Zeringue, Lisa Zeringue Fontenot and husband Kieth Fontenot, Lori Anne Zeringue and Valarie Ann Zeringue and companion Leslie Frank Walgamotte; grandchildren Mandi Michelle Bourgeois, Simon Paul, Jeremiah James and Adam Michael Fontenot, Monica Avenew Zeringue, Amos Joseph and Bobbie Jo Cooke and Becki Jo Zeringue, Nicholas Scott Blades and Matthew Allen Cummings; siblings Lydia Robert Robert and husband Preston J. Robert, Marcel Joseph Robert and wife Norma C. Robert, Francis Michael Robert and wife Sandra Robert, Ernestine Robert Kappel and husband John W. Kappel. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sons, Aubert Joseph and Keith Anthony Zeringue, parents Ernestine Hymel and Joseph Marcel Robert, brother Andrew Robert and two sisters, Anna Mae and Odette Robert.

Many of the 73 years of her life were devoted to helping make life better for children and families in St. Charles Parish. Her volunteer involvement included helping to start Girl Scout troops, leading day camps, training leaders and founding Camp Horn; working with the early days of baseball, softball and football leagues at local playgrounds, supporting the Red Cross, supporting United Way and helping with church activities.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to hospice or charity of your choice.

Abbate

Salvador Joseph Abbate, age 49, died on Dec. 20. He is survived by his mother, Dora Abbate of LaPlace, brothers Michael Abbate of LaPlace, Frank Abbate of Destrehan, Joseph Abbate of Albany, Peter Abbate of Garyville and Ursin Abbate of Norco, sister Margurite Abbate Weber of Holden and Frances Abbate Blunt of Ticklaw, and 19 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 28 at H.C. Alexander Funeral home, followed by entombment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. In liue of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

Adams

Leary Bernard Adams Sr., a resident of Las Vegas, died on Dec. 31. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Adams was a former New Orleans Police Officer and a veteran of the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Forresters and the Colt .38 Gun Club.

He is survived by his sons, Leary B. Adams Jr. and wife Regina and Eric J. Adams Sr. and wife Kaweeda of Las Vegas, Timothy J. Adams Sr. and wife Sheila of Bowie, MD., and Keith A. Adams Sr. of St. Rose, daughter Sandra A. Adams of Albuquerque, NM, brother Orson Adams and wife Jennie of New Orleans, sister Joyce Adams of New Orleans, 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwanda Adams, son Byron Anthony Adams Sr. and brother Allie Adams Jr.

Memorial services were held on Jan. 6 at Bunker’s Mortuary in Las Vegas. Mass servicers will be held today at James the Apostle Catholic Church.

Carmouche

Ronald John Carmouche, a native of St. Rose and resident of Norco, died on Dec. 18. He was 78 years old.

He was a retired self-employed former owner of RTL Corporation and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lois McKinney Carmouche, sons Ronald Carmouche II and Michael Carmouche, daughters Cheryl Joslin, Wendy Eldredge and Tricia Lodge, sisters Beverly Lousteau, Mae Salemi, Mildred Price and Lois LaGarde, brother Terrell Carmouche, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brother, Louis “Red” Carmouche.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 21 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco, officiated by Father Terry Hayden. Pallbearers were Gary Eldredge, Robert Lodge, Harold DeGruy, Raydel Morris, Vincent rolle and Clifford McKinney. Honorary pallbearers were Alan McKinney and Patrick Savage.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society and River Region Hospice.

Cavallero

Harold John Cavallero, Jr., beloved husband of Denise Bourg, father of USAF Lt. Andrew John Cavallero, whose wife is Jennifer McMillian, and Natalie Renee Cavallero, died Dec. 27 in a boating accident on Lake Calcasieu. He is also survived by his father, Harold John Cavallero, and his sisters, Linda Ann, wife of William Perronne, III, Marilyn Althea, wife of Robert Hymel, and Cynthia Ann, wife of Dr. John Ryals. Mr. Cavallero Jr. was predeceased by his mother, Mary Lee LaBorde Cavallero. His long career in the inshore marine industry ended with his most recent position, as Senior Inspector, Lake Charles Chemical Group with PPG Industries.

A former resident of Willowridge Estates, Mr. Cavallero’s services were held Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Holy Family Church in Luling.

Champagne

Floyd J. Champagne, a native of Luling and resident of Des Allemands and Metairie, died on Dec. 4. He was 41 years old.

A commercial fisherman, Mr. Champagne is survived by his companion Tina Hayden, parents Adler Sr. and Jeannette Deroche Champagne, sons Justin and Ryan Hayden, brothers Mark Champagne, Alder Champagne Jr., Ralph Champagne and Brian Champagne, sisters Karen Kelon and Anne Braun, best buddy Jaycee Champagne and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 6 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.

Dufrene
Clara “Sis” Brupbacher Dufrene, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Des Allemands, died on Dec. 28. She was 87 years old.

She is survived by her son, Marlin Dufrene, brothers John, Jesse and Glen Brupbacher, sisters Ruth Roy, Thelma Bernard, Ida Doland, Betty Ruiz and Gerry Vannoy, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Dufrene, parents Otto Brupbacher Sr. and Lydia Pertuit Brupbacher and brothers Orrie and Otto Brupbacher Jr.

Religious services were held on Dec. 31 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church.

Gray

David Gray, a native of Leesburg, Fla. and resident of Paradis and Bayou Gauche, died on Dec. 10 of heart failure. He was 39 years old.

Mr. Gray was a member and past president of the Des Allemands Booster Club and was Public Service Division Manager of White Dove Civic Outreach Center. He is survived by his wife, Mina Huot Gray, daughters Jamie, Heather, Dorothy, Brandi and Kelli Gray, stepdaughters Kristy Adams Landry and Brandy Harrington, sisters Elise Moreland and Betty Jane Kidd, brothers Dwayne Gray Jr. and Donald Gray, and grandson Bryce McNulty. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwayne and Dorothy Gray, and grandson Hunter Hebert.

A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at White Dove Fellowship, 3600 Manhattan Boulevard, Harvey.

Hannen

William Hannen of Luling died after a lengthy bout with gastric cancer Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Oschner Hospital. He was 59 years old.

Mr. Hannen was assistant vice president of Whitney National Bank and managed the bank’s Luling branch. He was also very active in civic affairs. He was a past president of St. Charles Rotary Club and managed the club’s annual Alligator Festival for many years. He was also very active in coaching recreation sports in St. Charles Parish.

Mr. Hannen is survived by his wife, Pamela; two sons, Lt. Timothy of Memphis and Scott of Luling; one daughter, Mary Laura (Molly) also of Luling; his parents, Arthur and Laura Hannen of Washington, Pa., and his in-laws, Maynard and Mary Warwick.

Visitation was held on Dec. 9 at Holy Family Church in Luling from 9 to 11 a. m. followed by services.
