Dickenson

Alvin Paul “Tute” Dickinson died June 11 at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. He was 65.

He was a native of Thibodaux and a resident of St. Rose.

He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Dickerson, Sr.; his wife, Shirley Mae Talbert Dickerson; and two brothers, Andrew Dickerson, Jr and Calvin John “Francis” Dickerson.

He is survived by two sons, John J. Cook and Ronnie Paul Dickerson; two daughters, Angela Dickerson Mack and Antoinette Dickerson Tate; five sisters, Laura Harris, Faye Ann Fullwood, Mary Dickerson Bolin, Roxanne Robin, and Willa Dickerson; three brothers, Oliver, Martin, and Raymond Dickerson; one god child, Pamela Dickerson Scott; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 16. Burial in St. John Catholic Church Mausoleum in Labadieville.

Dupepe

Harriet L. Patsy Dupepe died June 18. She was 72.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amilcar and Anicia Oubre; and a sister, Doris Mitchell.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clarence Dupepe; her son and daughter in law, Clarence and Julie Dupepe; her sister, Leola O. Bourgeois; her granddaughter, Chelsae Dupepe; and 16 nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 22. Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.

Eiermann

Edward Joseph Eiermann died June 22 of stroke complications at Canon Hospice. He was 57.

Mr. Eiermann was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Rose. He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Peterman; two sons, Brian and Kevin Eiermann; three brothers, Milton, David and Gary Eiermann; and five sisters, Doris E. Bordelon, Gladys Maggio, Amelia Bordelon, Barbara DeLaCerda and Kathy Darymple.

A Mass was said June 25. Burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Gros

Susan Faye Gros died June 5 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She was 48.

She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond P. and Hilda L. Gros; and one brother, Russell Gros. She is survived by her son, Randy Gros; her brother, Robert Gros; her sister, Tena Gros; and one grandchild.

Friends are invited to share in a memorial mass on June 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Ln., Luling, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tharp Funeral Home of Gentilly is in charge of arrangements.

Hogan

Landry James Hogan died June 9. He was 83.

He was a native and resident of Des Allemands. He was a retired carpenter and fisherman. He was a veteran of World War II.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Clothide Matherne Hogan; three brothers, Andrew, Clarence, and Albert Hogan; and one sister, Ella Dufrene.

He is survived by his son, Morgan Hogan; two daughters, Rita H. Dufrene and Delores Thompson; one brother, Jerry Hogan; two sisters, Lena Dufrene and Janice “Clara” Dufrene; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

A funeral was held on June 13. Burial in Sunset Cemetery.

Johnson

Katherine Faye Johnson died June 23 at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. She was 57.

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Ama and a resident of Luling.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Johnson; two sons, Jemel Sr. and Tyrone Gomez Johnson; one daughter, Javonna Clarissa Johnson; her mother, Violet Hills Griffin; four sisters, Melba Rankin, Bernice Mott, and Emily D. and Sonjia M. Griffin; two brothers, Bruce A. and Lloyd A. Griffin III; two daughters-in-law, Peggy Sue and Kimberly Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Margaret J. Marshall and Barbara H. Griffin; two brothers-in-law, Jeffery Johnson, Jr. and Percy Rankin Jr.; 5 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday. Burial in First Baptist Cemetery in Paradis.

Johnson

Jessica Estelle and Stephanie Michelle Johnson died June 29 of injuries sustained in a car accident in Greenville, Ala. Jessica was 19 and Stephanie was 17.

The Johnson sisters were residents of both Luling and Millbrook, Ala. Jessica was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Hahnville High School. She just completed her first year of college at Auburn University. She was majoring in Bioengineering. Stephanie was also a Magna Cum Laude honor student at Hahnville High School and was to return in the fall as a senior.

Survivors include their parents, Curtis Johnson of Millbrook and JoAnn Branch Johnson; a brother, Colton Johnson; grandparents, Marlene and Leroy Sebring of Story City, Iowa and Walter and Patricia Johnson of Kennebunk Port, Maine; aunts and uncles, Karen and Kevin Fergusson of Jacksonville, Walter Johnson Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, James Richard and Joan Branch of Zion, IL, David Branch of Panama City, Helen Branch and Angela and Gary Craig, all of Story City, Jack and Diana Branch of Sarasota, FL, Paul Branch and Bonnie McDougal of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathleen Newton of Boone, Iowa, and Raymond and Helen Miller of Gloucester, VA.

Funeral services were held on July 2. Burial in Brookside Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please offer memorial contributions to the Jessica and Stephanie Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Office of the Dean of Students, Auburn University,228 Foy Student Union, Auburn University, AL 36849-5129.

Joseph

Edgar Joseph Sr. died June 22 of complications from third-degree burns at his home. He was 97.

Mr. Joseph was born in Ama and lived in New Orleans for many years. He was a member of Greater Mount Rose Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, Edgar Joseph Jr.; a daughter, Sandra Joseph Crawford; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Saturday. Burial in Providence Park.

Landeche

Melburn Louis Landeche died June 28 at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 84.

Mr. Landeche was born in Killona and lived in Metairie for 55 years. He was a retired carpenter for M & M Construction Co. and C&E Builders. He was a former member of the Elks Partyliners Carnival Club and the Carpenters Union Local No. 1846. He was a Navy veteran and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Mazel Mitchell Landeche; four daughters, Dianne Jobe, Patsy Lundin, Sherry Gorman and Janice Ricks; two sisters, Anna Belle and Mildred DeBautte; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Friday. Burial in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.

Lauland

Robbie J. Lauland died June 16 of an apparent heart attack at his home. He was 64.

Mr. Lauland was born in Luling and lived in Mandeville for the past 27 years. He was a retired engineering maintenance worker at Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. He was a member of Grace Church in Abita Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn C. Lauland; four sons, Ronald E. Lauland, Robbi J. Lauland Jr., Ronald Modica and Timothy S. Miller; three daughters, Rhonda L. Miller, Cheryl L. Modica and Donna G. Lauland; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral was held Saturday.

Lawrence

Betty Tucker Lawrence died June 5.

She lived in Luling.

She is the beloved wife of the late Herb Lawrence. She is the daughter of the late Hugh and Eula Keathley Tucker. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Muth; one son, Richard Lawrence; four grandchildren, William Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, Scott Keeton and Todd Keeton; and two great grandchildren, Sabrina and Kyle Keeton. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Graveside Services at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling today at 10:30 a.m. Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LeBray

Reggie “Head” LeBray died on June 3 in DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, VA. He was 45.

He was born in New Orleans on January 2, 1960. He lived on the 600 block of Oak Grove Rd.

He is preceded in death by his parents Reggie Sr. and Albertha G. LeBray.

Macalusa

Lorenia Matherne Macalusa died June 24 at her home. She was 82.

Mrs. Macalusa was born in Lake Salvador and lived for most of her life in Bayou Gauche and Boutte.

Survivors include a son, Michael Macalusa; a daughter, Katie Trujillo; a sister, Bertha Chiasson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass was said Monday. Burial in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church Cemetery in Donaldsonville.

Matherne

Anita L. "Mamiere" Matherne died June 17 at her home. She was 97.

She was a resident of Destrehan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Matherne, Sr.; her parents, Ernest Sr. and Floriska Louque; three brothers, Ernest Sr., Lionel, and Michael Louque; four sisters, Emma Martin, Ludivine Poche, and Leona and Irma Bourgeois; and one grandchild, Joey Matherne.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Duvic; a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly Jr. and Ann V. Matherne; five grandchildren, Darlene M. Martin, Kevin G. Duvic, Rodney J. Matherne Sr., Robert Viving, and Mary Ann Bigner; nine great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 20. Burial in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Matherne

Roger Vincent Matherne died of cancer June 21 at Oschner Foundation Hospital. He was 75.

Mr. Matherne was a native and resident of Des Allemands. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. He served in the Army after World War II as a Lieutenant in the Engineering Corps in France. He then earned a Masters of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida. He worked for Cytec for 25 years. He funded and ran Sportsman's Cove. He was involved with the United Way, Rotary of St. Charles, and Holy Family Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Matherne Meynard; his parents, Roger A. and Bertha Cortez Matherne; and his father-in-law, Earl Baudoin, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Baudoin Matherne; his children, Todd and Marilyn Matherne of Houston, TX, Craig and Judy Matherne, Amy and Chesley Simoneaux, Susan and Guinn Gaubert, Alan Meynard, Vince Matherne II of Atlanta, GA, Brett and Yvonne Matherne of Dayton, OH, and Cindy and Scott Muller of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Alaina Meynard, Craig II, Jessica, Matt, Alyssa, Joseph, Nicolas, and Bailey Matherne; his siblings, Clothilde and Mitch Dempster, Carrie Loupe, Martha and Charles Carlos, and Landry and Patsy Matherne; and his mother-in-law, Mercedes Baudoin of Raceland.

A funeral was held June 24. Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, Vince's family requests donations to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605, Attn: Office of Donor Services in his memory.

McGary

Jessie Handy McGary died June 7 of complications after an amputation surgery at Medical Center of Plano in Plano, Texas. She was 55.

Ms. McGary was born in New Orleans and lived in Wylie, Texas, for the past five months. She graduated from McDonogh No. 35 High School and Southern University at New Orleans with a degree in education. She was a former special education teacher at Capdau and Samuel J. Peters middle schools, a former employee of Answer Phone Systems and former house director for Anioma Community Home, and a special education teacher at Carver Middle School. She was a member of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, where she was the director of the Christian education department, the former church secretary and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a daughter, Shanel Mitchell; her mother, Alfrieda Billy; four sisters, Yvonne Repps, Deborah Moore, Glynthis Preston and Adrian White; and three grandchildren.

A funeral was held June 6. Burial in Providence Park Cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
