Marcel

Loise Faye "Honey" Miller Marcel, a native of Tutwiler, Miss. and resident of Destrehan, died on Aug. 6 of lung disease at her home.

She was 69.

She is survived by her seven sons, Michael A. Nicolini Sr., Barry A. Nicolini Sr., Russell Marcel Sr., Thomas and Joseph Marcel, Larry Marcel Sr. and Huey Marcel Jr.; a daughter, Janet Mayeux; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held on Aug. 9 at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home in Metairue, followed by burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Miller

Willie Lee Miller, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died on Aug. 31 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. She was 83 years old.

She is the daughter of the late Leona Phillip and Isiah Douglas, wife of the late James Miller Sr., mother of Inez Maston and the late Theodore James Jr., guardian of Stella Leboux and Jimmy Scott, sister of Lou Ethel Douglas, Grace Lewis, Isiah Douglas Jr., Cardell Shorts and the late Mary Joseph, Leona Patterson, Pearl Scott, Inez, Myrtle, Roosevelt, Joseph and Milton Douglas, stepmother of James Miller Jr. and the late Carolyn Miller, sister-in-law of Beulah and Bernice Douglas, Janet, Lois, Albert and Audrey Shorts, Orelia and Jules Victor and grandmother of Lori Ann Thornton and Stacy Goodal.

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held at St. Mathew Baptist Church in New Sarpy on Sept. 10, followed by interment at Jefferson Memorial Garden Cemetery in St. Rose.

Petit

Ronnie Raymond Petit Sr., a retired mechanical maintenance employee with Cytec Industries, died on Aug. 2 of a heart attack on a boat in Grand Isle. He was 58.

Mr. Petit was a lifelong resident of Ama.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Breaux Petit; a son, Ronnie Raymond Petit Jr.; a daughter, Ronada Petit Breaux; a sister, Elizabeth Rose Zeringue; and a grandchild.

A funeral was held on Aug. 5 at Mothe Funeral Home in Marrero, followed by burial at Westlawn Memorial Park.

Ramagos

Stacy Torres Ramagos, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of LaPlace died on Tuesday, Aug. 23 in LaPlace. She was 43.

She was the wife of James “Rocky” Ramagos; daughter of the late Clarence, Sr. and Mattie Brignac Torres; mother and mother-in-law of Jamie and Joseph Sitz of Reserve and mother of Anthony Marino of LaPlace; grandmother of Jordan and Jayden Sitz; sister of Terry Jouty of LaPlace, Allison Waits of Harahan, the late Clarence “Sonny Boy” Torres, Jr. and Leslie Torres.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville.

Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina. Visitation was held at St. Hubert on Friday. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home of Lutcher was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond

Vera J. Raymond, a native and resident of Hahnville, died on Aug. 15. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Raymond was daughter of the late Ella Thomas and Nathan Smith, wife of the late Alfred Raymond Sr., mother of Norbert and Jerry Gair, Yvonne Gair Wolfe, Alfred Raymond Jr., Horace Raymond Sr., Janet Raymond Elloie, Billy Raymond Sr., Carl Raymond Sr., David Raymond Sr. and the late Don Raymond and Bobby Raymond Sr.; sister of Oliver Smith, Rev. Albert Smith and the late Horace and Louise Smith.

She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held today at True Vine Baptist Church in Hahnville beginning at 11 a.m., followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Respess

Mary Brunson Respess of New Sarpy died on Aug. 2. She was 70 years old.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Respess, sons William A., Richard A. and Shannon K. Respess, sisters Ruth Soveranski and Betty LaCatina and grandchildren Devin Robert, Colin Ford Fleming and Rachel Alyse Respess.

A service was held at on Aug. 6 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco.

Entombment was at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.

Rose

Tammie E. Rose, a native of Denver and resident of St. Rose, died on Aug. 10.

She was 43.

She is survived by her mother, Lucille Z. Rose of Picayune, Miss.; a sister, Brenda M. Rose of Picayune; and a brother, Troy Elliott Rose of Arlington, Va.

A funeral was held on Aug. 15 at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Sanders

Earl M. Sanders, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan, died on Aug. 7 of complications from Alzheimer's disease at Ormond Nursing Home. He was 78.

Mr. Sanders was a Navy veteran and a member of the Metairie Art Guild and the AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Charline Sanders; three sons, Douglas, Shawn and Troy Sanders; a daughter, Erin Brennan; a stepdaughter, Vicki Bostick; a brother, Leonard Sanders; a sister, Doris Smith; and five grandchildren.

A Mass was said on Aug. 9 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery.

Savoy

Josie Ceravola Savoy, a native of Kenner and resident of Boutte, died on Aug. 30.

She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Savoy, daughters Cynthia Peterson and husband Robert, Vickey Schmill and husband Russell and Carla Savoy, sister Sarah Quarles, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Rosalie Abbott Ceravola, daughter Cheryl Cadiere, brothers Salvador, Bernard, John, Vincent, Nick and Peter Ceravola and sisters Sadie Fertitta, Nora Pelitire and Gloria Ceravola.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 12 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling.

St. Pierre

Charles “June” St. Pierre Jr. of Mt. Airy died on Aug. 20.

He was the beloved husband of Scolastie “Catie” St. Pierre of 58 years, father of Brian St. Pierre and grandfather of Tasha St. Pierre, brother of Frank St. Pierre of LaPlace, Edna St. Pierre of New Sarpy, Emelda Louque of Paulina, Irene Dixon of St. Amant and Velma Musso of Gramercy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. and Edwige Roussel St. Pierre, sisters Enola St. Pierre, Delta Louque and Mercedes Louque.

He was a World War II veteran and was retired from Nalco Chemicals in Mt. Airy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 24 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville, followed by entombment at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Tillman

Emma Tillman, native of Boutte and resident of Harvey, died on Aug. 28.

She was 74 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Daisy Edwards Sandolph and Zely Mayers, stepdaughter of the late Joseph Sandolph Sr., wife of the late John Tillman, mother of Amanda Vincent Jolly, Lloyd Jr. and Perry Edward Vincent, sister of Ada Coleman, Leola Dukes and the late Octave Williams and Joseph Sandolph Jr.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Boutte on Sept. 17, followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery in Boutte.

Trosclair

Mindi Comardelle Trosclair, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died on Aug. 9. She was 21 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Abel Trosclair Sr., parents Leslie Comardelle Sr. and Linda Fonseca Comardelle, sons Abel Trosclair Jr. and Timothy Trosclair, daughter Lauren Trosclair, brothers Leslie Jr., Jason and Ernest Comardelle and sisters Stephanie Parria, Lisa Spahr and Shelly Perrillioux.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 12 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands, followed by burial in St. Gertrude Cemetery.

Voisin

Linest Paul Voisin, a native and resident of Dulac, died on Aug. 20.

He was 81 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Iona LeBlanc Voisin, sons Gordon Voisin and wife Lilian of Houma and David Voisin and wife Karen of Luling, daughters Deanie Giroir and husband Berley, Eva Duplantis and husband Galen, Ramona Leicher and husband Craig and Kim Luke and husband Terry Jr., all of Dulac; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Lydia Luke Voisin, son Simon Paul Voisin, daughter Jane Ellen Voisin Theriot, great granddaughter Christy Giroir, brothers Russell Voisin, Morris “Black” Voisin and Linzy “Nonk Dodd” Hebert and sisters Malvina “Kek-Kek” Lirette and Gloria Guidry.

Mr. Voisin was a boat captain with Arthur Levy Boat Company and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4752 and a Third Degree lifetime member of the Dulac Knights of Columbus Council 7722.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Dulac, followed by burial at Holy Family Cemetery.

Wright

Fred Milton Wright, a native of Norco and resident of Springfield, died on Aug. 3. He was 85 years old.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Wright received the American Theater Medal, Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.

He is survived by his wife, Lenny Picou Wright, son Patrick Wright, daughter Susan Wright Mayl, brother George Wright Jr., five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Mass was said on Aug. 5 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial was in Maurepas Cemetery.

Antonio

Harry Antonio, a native of Taft and resident of Lucy, died on Sept. 7.

He was the son of the late Mable Ruffin and Oscar Antonio, and brother of Edgar Antonio, Walter, James, Joseph, John and Lilly Ruffin, Marie Isaac, the late Oscar Jr., Albert, Alvin, Isiah and Evelyn Ruffin.

A funeral service was held at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Hahnville on Sept. 17, followed by interment at Greenhill Cemetery in Taft.

Bennett

Joseph Bennett, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died on Sept. 12. He was 73 years old.

He was son of the late Essay and Eugene Bennett, husband of the late Leona Isaac, father of Janice Harris, Gloria Bourgeois, Stephanie Caldwell, Milton, Betty, Bobby, Ricky, Carolyn and Brian Isaac and the late Grace Isaac, brother of Celeste Jackson, Aldoris Smith, Geraldine Southhall, Cecile, Mary, Selna, Ernest, Couldy, Richard Oscar and the late August Bennett. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held at Moses Baptist Church in Thibodaux on Sept. 20, followed by interment at Greenhill Cemetery in Taft.
