Johnny J. Segura

Beloved son and father

Services for Johnny Joseph Segura, 37, will begin at 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Guidry officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation will be until the time of services today at David Funeral Home, Iberia Street.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Segura died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in St. Martin Parish.

Mr. Segura was an electrician.

He is survived by his parents, Rolling J. and Clara Bell Broussard Segura of New Ibeira; one son, Dustin Landry of St. Martinville; three brothers, Leroy Estilette Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Keith and Todd Segura, both of New Ibeira; one sister, Mrs. Patrick (Tammy) Hargrave of New Iberia; and his girlfriend, Allison Comeaux of Lafayette.

David Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary D. Suire

Loving wife and mother

Services for Mrs. Francis "Bee" Suire, 76, the former Mary DeRouen, will begin at noon Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Guidry officiating. Interment will be in Broussard cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Delcambre and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Suire died at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at a Lafayette hospital.

Mrs. Suire retired from Trappey's Fine Foods after 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Francis "Bee" Suire of New Iberia; one son, Ricky James Suire of Lafayette; two stepsons, Raymond Suire of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert Suire of New Iberia; two daughters, Mary Joyce D. Chastant of Loreauville, and Meverly S. Landry of New Iberia; two stepdaughters, Jeanell S. Uhall and Linda S. Bourque, both of New Iberia; one brother, Vernus DeRouen of New Iberia; one sister, Faydora D. Maturin of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Suire was preceded in death by her parents, Clabert and Mary Bourque DeRouen; one son, Irving Davidson; one stepson, Allen Suire; six brothers, Clifton DeRouen Jr., Wilson DeRouen Sr. and Clamie, Joseph, Cleo and Jessie DeRouen.

Pallbearers will be Billy and Buddy Chastant, Chris and Avery Davidson and Brett and Ricky Suire.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Services are pending for Mrs. Lawrence V. Broussard, 89, the former Aline Broussard, who died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her residence in Lydia.

Kathleen H. Custer

Services are pending for Mrs. Lawrence "Larry" Custer, 73, the former Kathleen "Katy" Holliday, who died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her residence in Dadeville, Ala.

Mrs. Custer was a former resident of New Iberia.

Althea D. Jefferson

Loving mother

LOREAUVILLE - Services for Althea Jefferson, 80, the former Althea Davis, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Rev. John V. Choorackunnel officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services with a 9:30 a.m. rosary at the church.

A resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Jefferson died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.

She is survived by two sons, Lawerence Jefferson of Baldwin, and Junius Jefferson of Broussard; one daughter, Lizzie Jefferson Broussard of New Iberia; six brothers, Whitney Anthony of New Iberia, Ossie Davis and Willie Roy Davis, both of Port Arthur, Texas, Bernard Anthony and Joseph Davis, both of Loreauville, and Hurley Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five sisters, Louise Miles of Rochester, New York, Aline Mitchell of Loreauville, Pearl Wilson of New Orleans, Birdie Arceneaux of New Iberia, and Agnes Theodile of Lake Charles; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by her parents, Issac Davis and Ann Anthony; her adopted parents, Amos Anthony Sr. and Harriet Anthony; her husband, Antoine Jefferson; her daughter, Elsie Francois; two grandsons, Cyrus and Kevin Jefferson; one granddaughter, Katey Jefferson; one great-granddaughter, Tambra Theresa Fusilier; nine brothers, Harold, Gerald, Fred, Wilfred and Amos Anthony Jr., Alvin Broussard, and Albert, Carlton and Leward Davis; and five sisters, Cora Jeanlouis, Rose and Alma Vital, AnnaMae Mitchell and Gloria Willis.

Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Wilfred Longon Sr.

Services for Wilfred Joseph "Neg" Longon Sr., 69, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 1:30-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Longon died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at University Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mr. Longon was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a boat captain on tugs and shrimpboats.

He is survived by two sons, Wilfred J. "Noonie" Longon Jr. of Erath, and Michael A. Longon of Laverge, Tenn.; three daughters, Shelia M. Bennett of Stephensville, Billie Jean Dufrene of Houma, and Rosetta Marcrum of Mapleton, Ga.; four sisters, Georgie L. Pellerin, Rose L. Bourque and Patsy L. Blanchard, all of New Iberia, and Audrey L. Primeaux of Westwego; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Longon was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Paula Dore' Longon; and his granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Glynn and James Pellerin, Mike Poirier, Eddie Primeaux, and Richard and Patches Bourque.

Marjorie H. Rochelle

Services are pending for Marjorie Rochelle, 78, the former Marjorie Harrington, who died at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Azalea Villa Nursing Center.

Rita A. Duhe

Private graveside services for Rita Arnandez Duhe, 93, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Mrs. Duhe died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital.

She was active in many community organizations during her life, of which her favorites were, the Junior Fortnightly Club, the St. Peter's College (now Catholic High School) Mothers Club and Le Petit Jardin Garden Club. Mrs. Duhe was a recognized authority on gardening and flower arranging.

She is survived by four children, Verna Cook of Chester, Va., Louise Jardell of San Jose, Calif., Thomas G. Duhe of New Iberia, and John M. Duhe Jr. of Lafayette; one brother, Rev. Brother Richard Arnandez, F.S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Duhe was preceded in death by her husband, J. Malcolm Duhe; her parents, two sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Duhe's memory to Catholic High School, 1301 De LaSalle Drive, New Iberia, La. 70560; the Christian Brothers, 1522 Carmel Ave., Lafayette, La. 70501; or to the charity of one's choice.

Shirley A. King

JEANERETTE - Services are pending for Pastor Shirley Ann King, 57, who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her residence in Houston following a brief illness.

Mildred K. Morcom

BATON ROUGE - Services for Mrs. Robert S. Morcom, 83, the former Mildred Judith Kleinpeter, were held at 11 a.m. today at Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Park cemetery.

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Morcom died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in Houston.

Mrs. Morcom was the daughter of the late Paul Edgar and Judith Winston Pipes Kleinpeter of Oakland, Calif., and the wife of the late Robert S. Morcom. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge was in charge of arrangements.

Amelia D. Pontiff

FRANKLIN - Services for Amelia Delcambre Pontiff, 91, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Assumption.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

A resident of Franklin, Mrs. Pontiff died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Ibert's Mortuary Inc. of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Rayward P. Romero

Loving family man

Services for Rayward Paul Romero, 62, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Guidry and Deacon Cody Miller officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of Youngsville, Mr. Romero died at 11:38 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Romero served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for 12 years and was an avid carpenter. He was employed with LeBlanc and Broussard Ford and Arceneaux Ford in New Iberia for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Delcambre Romero of Youngsville; three sons, Andrew Romero of Duson, Robert Romero, and his wife, Terry Broussard Romero, and Tony Romero, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Cheryl Guidry of Youngsville, and Nancy Broussard of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren, Tonia Choplin, Misty, Andrew, Cory, Angela, Kourtnie, Hallie and Dillon Romero, Krystal and Tiffany Broussard, Kristopher Poirrier, Kylie Suire and Lance Prosper; three great-grandchildren, Kristyn and Gabrielle Choplin, and Cy Hulin; two brothers, A.J. and Howard Romero Sr., both of Youngsville; one sister, Irene Romero of New Iberia; and his mother-in-law, Inez Fredrick Delcambre of New Iberia.

Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his parents, Everest and Ann Gerald Romero; his brother, Andrew Romero; and his father-in-law, Hadley Delcambre.

Pallbearers will be Andrew, Tony, Richard and Robert Romero, Howard Romero Jr. and Gilbert Whittle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Krystal and Tiffany Broussard, Kristopher Poirrier, and Dillon and Cory Romero.

JEANERETTE - Services for Wilbert Jones, 68, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alex Lovett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fulton Raymond officiating. Interment will be in Rising Sun cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Jones died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness.

He is survived by one son, Jimmy Jones of New Iberia; two daughters, Brenda Jones of New Iberia, and Alice Mae Jones of Jeanerette; two brothers, Leroy Jones of New Iberia, and Joseph Lee Jones of Jeanerette; one sister, Laura J. Tinguee of New Iberia; a devoted niece, Shirley Jones of Franklin; and 13 grandchildren.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Kramer and Alice Jenkins Jones; two brothers, Kramer Roy Jones Jr. and Frank Jones Sr.; and one sister, Ella Mae Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Kevin, Herman, Rayland and Zachary Jones, and LaShawn and Larron Tinguee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Smith, Junius Joseph, Michael Miller, Manuel Lumpkin, Antoine Lewis, Morgan Thomas, Allen Charles, Booker Benjamin, Larry Tinguee Sr., Herman Vilo, Bernie Jones Jr. and James Marks.

Walter Mitchell Sr.

Loving husband and father

ABBEVILLE - Services for Walter Mitchell Sr., 62, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Congregational Church with the Rev. Kevin William officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with an 8 p.m. wake service at Fletcher Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

A resident of Abbeville, Mr. Mitchell died at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette following a brief illness.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of St. Mary Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife, Blvia B. Mitchell of Abbeville; his mother, Maggie W. Mitchell of Abbeville; one daughter, Joan Denise Mitchell of Abbeville; two brothers, Percy and Jimmy Mitchell, both of Abbeville; one sister, Maggie Mitchell of Abbeville; one grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Milton Mitchell Sr.; two sons, Anthony and Walter Mitchell Jr.; five brothers, Curley, Douglas, Clarence, Henry and Milton Mitchell Jr.; and two sisters, Francis M. Bessard and Lela Mae Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Hubert Bessard, Craig Joiner, Cecil and Chris Mitchell, Eric Williams and Milton Hardy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Percy and Jimmy Mitchell, George Williams and Kerry Matthews.
