Yvonne A. Sliman

Services for Mrs. Theodore Sliman Sr., 82, the former Yvonne Ashy, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Monsignor Guy Lemoine officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services with a 10 a.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Sliman died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Consolata Home.

Mrs. Sliman graduated from Mount Carmel in 1934 and then began working for Mayor Joe Daigre. It was during that time that she met and married Theodore "Teddy" Sliman Sr. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and the Mothers Club at Mount Carmel and Catholic High Schools, of which she was very active with many of the school functions. Mrs. Sliman also was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Iberia Golf and Country Club.

She is survived by one son, Teddy Sliman Jr., and his wife, Anita Ableson Sliman of New Iberia; one daughter, Sylvia Sliman Gruber, and her husband, William, of New Iberia; one brother, Edwin Ashy of New Iberia; one sister, Anaise Ashy of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Robert R. Jones III of Baton Rouge, Theodore Kenley Jones of New Iberia, Paul Andrew Jones of Atlanta, Shauntelle Anita Sliman of New Orleans, Kayla Dawn Sliman of Baton Rouge, and Theodore Anthony Sliman III of Lafayette; two great-grandchildren, Ian Christopher Jones and Autumn Anaise Jones, both of New Iberia.

Mrs. Sliman was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore "Teddy" Sliman Sr.; her parents, Gabriel and Nizara Sarkis Ashy; and three sisters, Beatrice M., Josephine M. and Olga M. Ashy.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Sliman Jr., Bill Gruber, Robert Jones III, Theodore Kenley Jones, Paul Andrew Jones and Theodore Sliman III.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions be made to St. Edward Catholic School Building Fund, 175 Porter St., New Iberia, La. 70560.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

John M. Ferguson

LAFAYETTE - Memorial services for John "Mike" Ferguson, 53, will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of Flowers with the Rev. Jeff Cook, First Baptist Church of Broussard pastor, officiating.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today at Delhomme Funeral Home, which will reopen Sunday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Beaumont, Texas, and a resident of Lafayette for two year, Mr. Ferguson died at 9:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana.

Mr. Ferguson was a U.S. Navy veteran and the territory manager for Blue Bell Ice Cream, where he worked for the past 16 years.

He is survived by two sons, Jason Michael Ferguson, and his wife, Virginia Fullman Ferguson, of Baton Rouge, and Jared Ashton Ferguson, and his wife, Lori Guidry Ferguson, of Lafayette; one daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Tanya) Weston of Katy, Texas; his former wife, Carmen Broussard Ferguson of New Iberia; three brothers, Robert Ferguson, his twin, and William Gerald Ferguson, both of Dallas, and Benjamin Clinton Ferguson of Blue Haven, Miss.; and five grandchildren, Brett Ashton, Andrew Michael, Christopher Thomas and Jessica Ann Ferguson and Michael Patrick Weston.

Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Clinton and Lucy Jones Ferguson.

Ella V. Foreman

ERATH - Services for Mrs. Allen Foreman,74, the former Ella Mae Viator, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will be in Abshire cemetery in Leroy.

Visitation will be from 7 a.m. today until the time of services.

A native of Beaumont, Texas, and a resident of Erath, Mrs. Foreman died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

Naomi Strambler

GRAND MARAIS - Services are pending for Naomi Strambler, 80, who died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia following a brief illness.

David E. Holland

Services for David Embree Holland, 53, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Horn, Highland Baptist Church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Luling, Texas, and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Holland died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at a Lafayette hospital.

Mr. Holland is survived by his fiancée, Barbara "Bobbie" Freyou Lennie of New Iberia; two step-sons, Robert Lennie of New Iberia and Casey Lennie, and his wife, Misty Norwood Lennie, of New Iberia; his long-time friend, Ambroise Freyou of New Iberia; two sisters-in-law, Lucette Broussard Holland of New Iberia and Mary Holland of Texas; one nephew, Dean Holland of Texas; one great-nephew, Richie Holland of Texas; and two step-grandchildren, Brandon Chet and MaKenzie Holland Lennie, both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Olga Kiphen Holland; two brothers, James "J.R." Holland and Clyde Holland; and one daughter-in-law, Tessie Norwood Lennie.

Pallbearers will be Robert and Casey Lennie, Rocky Rivers, Willard Landry, Richie and Dean Holland and Kelvin Gaspard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ambroise Freyou, Brandon and Johnnie Lennie, Mike Hunter and Darrel Tauzin.

Estelle G. Mire

Loving mother, grandmother

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Felix Mire, 88, the former Estelle Goula, will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at David Funeal Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will be in the St. John Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Mississippi and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Mire died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mrs. Mire was a homemaker and past member of the Lady's Altar Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Viator, and her husband, Lynn, of Jeanerette; one sister, Una Mae Mendoza of Jeanerette; one granddaughter, Catherine McClelland, and her husband, Neal, of New Iberia; one nephew, Richard Goula of Lafayette; and her pet dogs, Cocoa and Chanel.

Mrs. Mire was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Mire; her parents, Arthur and Aline Lenora Mendoza Goula Sr.; and two brothers, Charles and Lawrence Goula.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Burgess, A.J. Jolet, Neal McClelland and Brad, Chelly and Woodrow "Wood" Mendoza.

Henry J. Belanger

Loving husband and father

FRANKLIN - Services for Henry John Belanger, 92, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jule's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Kanjiramkuzhy officiating. Interment will be in Franklin cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services with an 11:45 a.m. rosary at the church.

A resident of Franklin for more than 50 years, Mr. Belanger died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia.

Mr. Belanger was retired from Texaco. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Thibodeaux Belanger; two sons, John Leslie of Baton Rouge, and Bryan Joseph of Brewton, Ala.; three daughters, Dardnella Brock of Brewton, Ala., Jean Woody of Pasadena, Texas, and Leon Bennett of Baytown, Texas; one brother, Mitchell Belanger of Houma; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Belanger was preceded in death by his parents, Ovilia Boudreaux and Mitchell Belanger; two brothers, Sterling and Celastin Belanger; four sisters, Olivia B. Robicheaux, Ida B. Morales, Virginia B. Belanger and Ovilia B. Henry; and one grandson, Bryan Joseph Belanger Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael and Nolan Ardeneaux, Bryan, Harold, Leonard and Mitchell Belanger, David and Richard Childress, Joe Louviere and Lawrence Thibodeaux.

Donald Mallet Sr.

Loving husband, father, friend

BROUSSARD - Services for Donald James Mallet Sr., 56, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at David Funeral Home with Monsignor Michael Herpin officiating. Interment will be in Broussard cemetery in Milton.

Visitation will be until the time of services Wednesday at David Funeral Home, which will remain open all night. A recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. tonight.

A native of Lafayette and a resident of Mountainview, Ark., Mr. Mallet died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Louisiana.

Mr. Mallet was a welder.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Bourque of Mountainview, Ark.; one son, Donald Mallet Jr., and his wife, Tammy Pierce, of Batesville, Ark.; two daughters, Charmaine Musemeche, and her husband, Mike, of Sarasota, Fla., and Chantelle Rangel, and her husband, Gabriel, of Mountainview, Ark.; one sister, Elizabeth Romero, and her husband, Russell, of New Iberia; his mother, Edith Mallet; and seven grandchildren, Faith Mallet, Ashley and Christine Musemeche, Kassie Pierce, Gabriel and Natalie Rangel, and Angie Stevens.

Mr. Mallet was preceded in death by his father, Alvin J. "Pete" Mallet; and his brother, Andrew Mallet.

Pallbearers will be Junior and Murphy Bourque, Todd Perez, Percy Racca, and Chris and Eric Romero.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny and Russell Romero.

Toni M. Minvielle

JEANERETTE - A Mass of the Resurrection for Toni M. Minvielle, 51, will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Rogers, SJ, first cousin of Ms. Minvielle, and Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be in Beau Pre Memorial Park cemetery. Memorial services are pending at St. Thomas Aquinas in Palo Alto, Calif.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Jeanerette and a resident of Palo Alto, Calif., Ms. Minvielle died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at her residence.

A native of Jeanerette, Ms. Minvielle received her primary and secondary education from the Sisters of Mercy. She then pursued a degree in nursing from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Upon graduation, she moved to California where she was employed by the Stanford University Hospital. She later became a realtor for Cornish and Carcy Real Estate, where she became vice president after approximately 10 years.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce O'Neil Minvielle of Jeanerette; her sister, Rae Minvielle McJunkins of Jeanerette; her brother-in-law, George McJunkins of Jeanerette; her niece, Amy McJunkins of Houston; her nephew, Neil McJunkins of Baton Rouge; and numerous family members and friends who were also blessed by her courage, tenderness and generosity.

Ms. Minvielle was preceded in death by her father, Roland H. Minvielle.

Pallbearers will be Malcolm and Michael Landry, Amy, George and Neil McJunkins, and Jimmy Meaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Hebert, Willie Reed Jr. and Joseph Wyble.

James Weekly Jr.

DELCAMBRE - Services for James A. Weekly Jr., 26, were held at 10 a.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Noah Langley officiating. Interment was in Migues cemetery.

A native and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Weekly died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Iberia Parish.

Mr. Weekly was employed with Denise's Shrimp Shop and also did flooring.

He is survived by his father, James A. Weekly Sr. of Delcambre; two brothers, Frank Joseph Weekly of New Iberia, and Kelly Paul Weekly of Eunice; two sisters, Tonya Lynn Weekly of Delcambre, and Angel Marie Weekly of Basil; and his maternal grandmother, Audrey Armond of Morgan City.

Mr. Weekly was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Lynn Armond Weekly; his maternal grandfather, Edward Armond; and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Frances Weekly.

Raoul J. Babin

Loving husband and father

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services are pending at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church Thursday for Raoul Joseph Babin, 82, who died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at a Breaux Bridge hospital.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Pellerin Funeral Home, which will remain open all night. Visitation will continue until the time of services Thursday.

A native of Cypress Island and a resident of Breaux Bridge, Mr. Babin retired as an employee of the city of St. Martinville. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Delahoussaye Babin; three sons, Hadley John Babin Sr., and Alton Joseph and Clifton Edward Babin; one daughter, Hazel Babin Courville; one brother, Jules J. Babin; one sister, Agnes Babin Berthelot; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Babin was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Edmae C. Babin; five brothers, Lovis Babin Sr., and Leo, Numa, Leroy and Lynn Babin; and his granddaughter, Christine Babin.

Pallbearers will be Aldus James, Michael John and Aldus Pierre Courville, Bryan Joseph and Alton Joseph Babin, and Hadley John Babin Sr.

Danny LaPorte Sr.

Graveside services for Danny Joseph LaPorte Sr., 51, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park cemetery.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. LaPorte died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at a Lafayette hospital.

Mr. LaPorte worked for United Production Chemical Services and was an avid bowler for many years.

He is survived by two sons, Dan J. LaPorte Jr., and his wife, Rebekah B. LaPorte, and Matthew LaPorte, all of New Iberia; two special friends, Barbara Romero and Richard Fremin, both of New Iberia; one brother, Harold Michael LaPorte of New Iberia; and two grandchildren, Danielle Yvette and Megan Marie LaPorte, both of New Iberia.

Mr. LaPorte was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Dorothy Doty LaPorte; his grandparents, Joseph "Pep" and Rose LaPorte, and Daniel and Louise Doty.

Services are pending for Mary Louviere, 73, the former Mary Boutte, who died at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette following a brief illness.
