Mary B. Louviere

Loving mother, grandmother, friend

Services for Mary Eula Louviere, 73, the former Mary Eula Boutte, will begin at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Sebastian Myladiyil officiating. Entombment will be in Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be from 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel and will resume at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services with an 11 a.m. recitation of the rosary in the church sanctuary.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Louviere died at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette following a brief illness.

Mrs. Louviere was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Elias Louviere of New Iberia; two sons, Ricky and Johnny Louviere, both of New Iberia; six daughters, Pam and Sandra Louviere, Patricia Rene and Linda Bolden, all of Houston, Carolyn Matthews of Lafayette, and Carol Broussard of Breaux Bridge; four brothers, Wilton, Amos and Abraham Boutte Jr., all of Houston, and Larry Boutte of Patterson; four half brothers, James Daniel and Roger Dale Boutte, both of Raywood, Texas, and Anthony Tony and Sammy Boutte, both of Patterson; one sister, Audrey Jeanminette of Grand Marais; her half sister, Diane Bryant of Patterson; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Louviere was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham Boutte Sr. and Julia Dupont Boutte; her daughter, Lena Mae Louviere Taylor Joseph; and her brother, Ashton Louviere.

Pallbearers will be Elston Touriac Sr., Floyd Sigue Sr., Richard and John Nolan Kerlegon, and Donald and Kenneth Broussard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willard Rene, Johnny Broussard, Eugene Bolden and Alma Matthews.

Marjorie H. Rochelle

Retired teacher

Services for Marjorie H. Rochelle, 78, the former Marjorie Harrington, will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas James officiating. Interment will be in St. Edward Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at St. Edward Catholic Church.

A native of Patterson and resident of New Iberia for 63 years, Mrs. Harrington died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Azalea Villa Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Rochelle was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court No. 63 and Legion of Mary Prayer Society. She was an associate member of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.

Mrs. Rochelle, a retired teacher, worked for 15 years at St. Anne Catholic School in Mallet before teaching at St. Edward Catholic School in New Iberia for 30 years.

She is survived by one brother, Charles A. Harrington Jr. of Los Angeles; one sister, Bettye H. Polk of New Iberia; a special niece whom she raised, Carlis G. Polk of Houston; a godson, Albert J. Polk Jr. of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Rochelle was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Rochelle; her parents, Charles A. Harrington Sr. and Ernestine Richard Harrington; two sisters, Margrette Gregoire and Modest Mitchell; her paternal grandparents, Henry and Mattie Kenan Harrington; and her maternal grandparents, Bernice and Marie Sinegal Richard.

Pallbearers are Louis R., Ernest and Arnald Michael Gregoire, Anthony and Michael Rose, and Charles G. Broussard.

Honorary pallbearers are Albert J. Polk Jr., Ronald Delahoussaye, Clifford and Kenan Moss, Bonny Polk IV, John Nolan Spencer, Nobleton Jones and Taylor Miller.

Walter J. Batiste Sr.

Loving father

Services for Walter James Batiste Sr., 57, will begin at 8 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Freddie Martin officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at in St. Matthew cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of services Monday at Fletcher's Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday until time of dismissal.

A native of Opelousas and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Batiste died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Consolata Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Batiste was a member of the Evergreen Lodge #31 Free and Accepted Masons of Jeanerette.

He is survived by his common law wife, Doris Charles of Jeanerette, her children, Wendy, Jalissa, Cree and Neely Batiste, all of Jeanerette, and two stepdaughters, Teralyn and Sheryln Charles of Kileen, Texas; his former wife, Eleanor Batiste of Jeanerette, and her children, Linda and Donald Batiste and Walter Batiste Jr., all of Jeanerette, Ronald Batiste of Yokoamon, Japan, and Arnold Batiste of New Port News, Va.; his special friend, Emily Phillips of Baldwin, and her children, David Phillips Batiste of Baldwin and Brenda Phillips Batiste of New Iberia; a very special friend, Lee Doucet Jr.; three brothers, Wilbert and Herbert Batiste, both of Houston, and Sammy Batiste of Opelousas; two sisters, Merlene Evans of New Iberia and Joyce Neuben of Saginaw, Mich.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Batiste was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Alberta Brown Batiste; and two brothers, Aaron and Robert Lee Turner.

Pallbearers are Bradley and Butler Jackson, Walter Batiste Jr., and Wilbert, Donald and David Phillip Batiste.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Evergreen Lodge #31 of Jeanerette.

Russell P. Landry Sr.

Avid fisherman

ERATH - Services for Russell "Bruce" Paul Landry Sr., 71, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne Duet officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home which will reopen from 7 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Monday.

A native and resident of Erath, Mr. Landry died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

Mr. Landry was a superintendent in the oilfield. He was an avid fisherman and also loved sports.

He is survived by a daughter, Joycelyn Beth Bellis of Erath; five sons, Keith, Todd Joseph, and John Landry Sr., all of Erath, Wayne Landry of Delcambre and Russell P. Landry Sr. of Houston; four brothers Calvin, Carrol and Cleo "Clay" J. Landry Jr., all of Erath, and Stanley Landry of Groves, Texas; three sisters, Wanda Melebeck, Helen Richard and Sue Touchet, all of Erath; a special friend, Annie Guillory of Erath; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hulin Landry; his parents, Cleo Joseph Landry Sr. and Elise Schexnayder; a son, Nicholas Landry; a sister, Joycelyn Landry; and a brother, Roland Landry.

Pallbearers are George Bellis Jr., and Clayton, Dakota, Nicholas and Ross Landry, and John Landry Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are C.J. Faulk, Gary Green Jr., A.J. and Kevin Landry and Russell P. Landry III.

NAPOLEONVILLE - Services for Lionel "Bito" Johnson, 28, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gilton officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

A native of Labadieville and a resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Johnson died at 9:46 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Jeanerette.

He is survived by his mother, Marion Johnson of Labadieville; three sisters, his twin, Linell Johnson, Regina Marie Johnson and Chinta Maria Joseph, all of Labadieville; one brother, Charles Darrien Johnson of Labadieville; his grandmothers, Florence Daggs and Madeline Johnson, both of Napoleonville, and Ora Lee Williams of Jeanerette; his grandfather, Arnold B. Joseph of Jeanerette; his devoted friend, Kim Willoughby of Napoleonville; two nieces, Charra' D. Johnson and Kadija S. Miller; two nephews, Tevin D. Barrio and Clifford E. Harris III; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Herman Johnson Jr.; and his grandfathers, Herman Johnson Sr. and Joseph Daggs Sr.

Stella E. Boudreaux

BALDWIN - Services for Stella Escuriex Boudreaux, 88, will begin at today at 1 p.m. at Scared Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Melancon officiating. Internment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services today at the church with a 12:30 p.m. rosary.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of Baldwin for more than 60 years, Mrs. Boudreaux died on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Mrs. Boudreaux was a longtime member of Scared Heart Catholic Church and also taught religion for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Arnold "Tut" J. Boudreaux of Sorrel and Wade "Butch" J. Boudreaux of Jeanerette; two daughters Mildred Boudreaux and Shirely Boudreaux Migues, both of Baldwin; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Boudreaux was preceded in death by her parents, Eustis Escuriex and Nora Stansbury Escuriex; her husband, Arnold J. Boudreaux Sr.; one daughter, Stella Ann Boudreaux; one brother, Minos Escuriex; one sister, Beulah Escuriex Guyote; and one granddaughter, Bonnie Migues Faust.

Alice J. Elias

Loving mother, grandmother

Services for Mrs. Victor Elias Sr., the former Alice Jones, 97, will begin Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Leblanc officiating. Internment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen Sunday at 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Elias died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at the Consolata Nursing Home.

Mrs. Elias was a housewife and a member of the Children of Mary.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond and Victor Elias Jr., both of New Iberia; one sister, Eva Jones of New Iberia; two daughter-in-laws, Dorothy "Dottie" and Grace Elias, both of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Elias Sr.; her parents, Mike and Sophie Kafouri Jones; five sisters, Edna Jones Betar, Relma Jones Betar, Josie Jones Broussard, Najebe Jones Foster, Adele Jones Gabriel; and three brothers, Edward "Rareback" Jones, Joe Jones and John Jones.

Pallbearers will be John Betar, Wilbur Miles, Bill Nichols, Jonathan Rentrop, Kim Rentrop, Timothy Rentrop, and Mark Verret.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Betar Jr., Victor Elias Jr., Richard Jones, and Raymond Elias.

Cheryl Johnson

Loving mother and friend

Cheryl Johnson, 49, of New Iberia, formerly of Alpena, Mich., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, following a brief illness.

She is survived by her son, Brian; her fiance and longtime companion, Harry Kinsel Jr; her father Furhman Smith; her sister, Darleen Dean; her brother, Furhman Smith II; and her faithful dog, Bandit.

Ms. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband; William Johnson and her mother, Peggy.

She will be sadly missed by many friends in Louisiana.
