Babin, Alvis Paul
A resident of Gonzales and native of Ascension Parish, he died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1929, with his last days he battled lung cancer. He was 75, a retired carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran. interment in Cornerview Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Rae Jumonville Babin; seven daughters, Susan Babin, Avis Avants, Diane Welch, Beth Sheets, Amy Babin, Lisha Lemoine and Deidra Babin; five sons, Paul, Aulman, Brent, Kyle and Brad Babin; 14 grandchildren, Amy Avants, Chantel Avants, Sharon Babin, Christ Babin, Nikki Babin, Jessica Babin, Katina Babin, Kylee Roddy, Tyler Roddy, Elvis Roddy, Jeffery Roddy, Cody Roddy, Patty Wilkerson, Robin Wilkerson, Henry Babin and April Babin and a great-grandchild, Melissa Victoria Babin; three sisters; two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucill Sanchez Babin and Ellis Babin; three brothers, E.B. Babin, Whitney Babin and Nap Babin; three sons-in-law, Benjamin H. Avants, Roy Welch and Reggie Lemoine; two daughters-in-law. Laura Roddy and Brenda Babin; two grandchildren, Wendy Babin and Michel Brent Babin. He loved his wife, children, grandchild and great-grandchild and to hunt, fish and being outdoors.

A homemaker and lifelong resident of Geismar, she died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Riverland Health Care Center in Lutcher. She was 93. interment in Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, Geismar. Survived by two daughters, Martha B. Earl, Gonzales, and Rachel B. Gibbs, Houston; four sons, Thomas Brown, Huber Heights, Ohio, Richard Brown, Houston, Willard Brown, Geismar, and Johnnie Brown, Pineville; two sisters, Margaret Lewis, New Orleans, and Ellen Willis, Geismar; one brother, Isaac Thompson, Marrero; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, one son, one daughter, one sister, five brothers, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of Riverland Health Care Center, River Region Hospice, Lutcher, and Dr. M. Turner.

Hargrave, Lois Gauthreau
A resident of Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at her residence. She was 85 and a native of Gonzales. interment in Rest-haven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Paula Hargrave; a sister, Myrtle Gauthreau Dawson; a brother, Leonard Gauthreau; and four granddaughters, Angel, Beth, Kristen and Jeannie Hargrave. Preceded in death by husband, Eugene Hargrave; parents, Polinaire and Doralize Gauthreau; three sisters, Carrie Fairbanks, Kenny Braud and Victorine Causey; and four brothers, Alton, Wyndom, Pellam and Lindon Gauthreau. Pallbearers were Russell, Randy and Rusty Marler, Cary Albarado, Doug Prewitt and John Kirby. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Hargrave and Don Little. She was a member of the deaf community.

A retired office worker with the Bank of Gonzales and a resident of Gonzales, she died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Gonzales. She was 81 and a native of Zachary. interment in church cemetery. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann and Stanley Templet, St. Amant, and Jerri Sargent, St. Amant; a sister, Ruby Thompson, Central; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Dennis J. Herron and Carl Sargent; parents, Eugene Neville Butler and Gillie Gertrude McElwee Butler; two sisters; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Francis "Bud" Sargent. Pallbearers will be Nelson Williams, Gary and Dennis Martinez, Nelson Williams III, Michael Willis and McCall Martinez. She was a member of Galvez Baptist Church.

A native of Hester and a resident of Gonzales, she died at 7:59 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was 64. interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Paulina. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Martha Ellis, Evangeline and Larry Martin and Terimal and Joseph Long; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Karen Jackson and Troy and Dedra Jackson; nine sisters and five brothers-in-law, Marvil and James Silas, Traviter and Robert Davis, Alma Corbitt, Louise and Gerald Nunnery, Barbara and Thomas Melancon, Elnora Thirsten, Audrey and Ricky Scott and Doris and Catherine Jackson; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Adelene, Peter and Rose, Alexander and Andrew Jackson; sister-in-law, Leona Jackson; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Andrew Jackson and Evelina Davis Jackson; two sisters, Isabella and Dorothy Jackson; and three brothers, Charles, James and Johnny Jackson.

Lafayette, Connie Kent Dixon
Lafayette, 65, of St. Amant, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was a native and longtime former resident of Baton Rouge. She was born Sept. 15, 1939, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Christian example. She was a retired loan officer for American Bank with 30 years of service and attended LSU for three years. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul V. Lafayette Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Donna Lafayette; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzi and Joe Hutchinson; a brother, Richard E. Dixon; five grandchildren, Victoria Lafayette, Miles Hutchinson, Morgan Hutchinson, Amy Childers and Amanda Creel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas J. Dixon and Rosalie Dyer Dixon; and her biological father, Stanley Eugene Kent. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers were Ricky DeVille, Ronny DeVille, A.J. Kent Jr., Mitch Bueto, Miles Hutchinson, Pete Arceneaux, Tommy Arceneaux and Richie Sibley. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Lafayette, A.J. Kent Sr., Billy Bueto and Darrel Leblanc. The family would like to extend a special thanks to special friends and caregivers, Mary Patterson, Sandy Harrell and Tami Tate.

Porter, Melanie Darlene Reulet
A homemaker and lifetime resident of Gonzales. She was 40, born March 14, 1964 in Baton Rouge. She passed awary Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. after a year-long battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 from 5 p.m. until memorial service at 7 p.m., conducted by Rev. Danny Bowers. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Porter III; son, Eric Zachary Porter; daughter, Emily Lewisa Darlene Porter; father, Joseph Lewis Reulet; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Pamela Verbois and Peter S. Verbois, Kathy Don Crain and Brigitte L. Reulet; two nieces, Amy M. Dykes and Patreece V. deArmond; two nephews, Joshua P. Mattson and Jonathan M. Delaune. Preceded in death by her mother, Darlene G. Reulet; grandparents, Victor and Helen Poirrier Reulet and Garland and Pauline Mayers Griffith; and many friends she loved dearly.

Sauceman Sr., James Carl
A resident of Gonzales, he died at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at his home. He was 82 and a native of Greenville, Tenn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting at Household of Faith, Gonzales, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, conducted by the Rev. Scott Bledsoe. interment in Corner View Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, Louise Sauceman; three sons, Ted, Jim and Terry Sauceman; two sisters, two brothers, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Sheets, Wesley Joseph
He was a lover of life and a free, happy spirit who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his friends, singing, dancing and playing the guitar. He loved the blues, Ray Charles, Lynard Skynard, hunting and riding four-wheelers with his greatest loves, his son, Blake, and his brother, Reid. He also loved picking at his sister, Erin, whom he loved dearly. Wesley will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but never forgotten. He was an airman first class with the Air National Guard for eight years, certified in satellite telecommunications. He enjoyed working outdoors and was employed as an electrician. Wesley was 26, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Gonzales. He Passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at 9:45 p.m. in Baton Rouge. interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his father and mother, Rodney and Trudi Shannon Sheets, Gonzales; a son, Blake Joseph Sheets, Denham Springs; sister, Erin Michelle Sheets, Gonzales; brother, Reid Joseph Sheets, Gonzales; paternal grandmother, Christine Sheets, Gonzales; maternal grandparents, K.M. and Yvonne Shannon, Gonzales; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alvin Joseph Sheets. Pallbearers were Larry Moran, Clint Gomez, Kalep Rambin, Toby Schexnaydre, Shane Troxler, Joey Porta, Reggie Sheets and Ted Girouard. Honorary pallbearer were Reid Sheets. Special thanks to the ICU nurses at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City, especially Ken, Melissa, Ann, Heather and medical student and personal friend, Jarrett.

A retired brick mason and laborer and a resident of Gonzales, he died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 75 and a native of Louisiana. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received the OCC medal in Germany. interment in church cemetery. Survived by wife, Mary L. Collins Williams; three daughters, Daisy Ashton, JoAnn Boudreaux and Joyce Scott; four sons, Dennis Collins, Floyd Williams, Lloyd Williams and Clarence Collins; four sisters, Dorothy and Mary Delmore, Cora L. Burns and Minervia Dorsey; a brother, Issac Williams; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Caraway, Carl Lett
Carl Lett Caraway, a retired mechanical engineer with the Ethyl Corp., Passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his home in Prairieville. He was 93 and a native of Fordoche. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. until funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ed Bledsoe. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Junior, Alfred “Chief”
A farmer and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 4:54 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 85 and a native of Modeste. interment in the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ayo, Shannon Troy
A former resident of Prairieville and resident of Elk City, Okla., died Sunday, June 22, 2008, in Elk City after a car accident. He was 34. Funeral services were held in Elk City on Tuesday, June 24.

Beaucoudray, Harold H.
A resident of Prairieville, he died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his home. He was 78 and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Religious service at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He was an avid LSU fan and a 1948 graduate of Istrouma High School.

Boudreaux, Lilliana Loland
A resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Barton, she died at 3:14 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at her home. She was 77. Entombment will follow at a later date.
