Gerald Anthony, Jr. Passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Age 62 years. Beloved husband of Holly Fant Wilson. Son of the late Annah Beene Wilson and Gerald A. Wilson, Sr. Brother of Mona Beth Wilson Williams. Nephew of Beth Morris. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends of the family and faculty, staff and students of Tulane University are invited to attend the funeral services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE.

J. J. KUSHMER DOOLEY
1947-2009

J. J. Dooley, Sunrise 02/14/1947 – Sunset 2/9/2009, age 62. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Donald M. Dooley. Daughter of the late Edward and Callie Kushner. Native of Decatur, IL and resident of New Orleans, LA. Survived by her faithful companion Sammy L. Steele, III. J. J. was a patron of the arts in New Orleans, LA and West Palm Beach, FL. She was an advocate fox hunter and member of the Prestigious Polo Club in Palm Beach.

LORNA MAY GRULKE BUCHTEL
1920-2009

Lorna May Grulke Buchtel was born on May 8, 1920 in Avoca, IA and died on February 9, 2009 in Baton Rouge, LA. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Buell C. Buchtel for 65 years. Loving mother of Blaine Charles Buchtel and Larry Martin Buchtel, both of New Orleans. Grandmother of Laura Buchtel and her husband Kelley McWhirter; and Charles, Lindsey and Caroline Buchtel. Mrs. Buchtel graduated from the University of Iowa.

FRANK MARTIN PENNEBAKER, SR.
1920-2009

Frank Martin Pennebaker, Sr. Passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1:07 AM, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Lillian Durand Pennebaker for over 66 years. Father of Frank Martin Pennebaker, Jr., John Durand Pennebaker, Lillian Ruth P. Dotson and Elizabeth Strode P. Carter. Son of the late Frances Ohrum Pennebaker and Eugene Strode Pennebaker.

HUBERT C. SKINNER
1929-2009

Dr. Hubert C. Skinner, age 79, Passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Beloved father of Susan Ann Skinner, Sharon Skinner Burgess and Kathryn Skinner Aleman. Grandfather of Brandon Burgess, Clayton Aleman, Laura Aleman, Kylan Burgess, Elizabeth Skinner-Orgeron, Jonathan Burgess, Emily Skinner-Orgeron and Kelly Juneau. Brother of Stanley Skinner. Dr. Skinner was a native of Oklahoma and longtime resident of New Orleans.

FRANCES ODINET DAUTERIVE

Frances Odinet Dauterive, age 89, died on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Beloved wife of the late George W. Dauterive. Mother of Mary “Betsy” Almerico and husband Michael. Grandmother of John Almerico and Lauren A. Mayeaux and husband Steve. Daughter of the late Bertrand Louis Odinet, Sr. and Katherine Brennan Odinet. Sister of Audrey Schenck, Kenneth Odinet and wife Rosemary; and the late Bertrand Odinet, Jr. and Dorothea Bridges.

MARY ELIZABETH BLAIZE
1919-2009

Mary Elizabeth McDonald Blaize of Mandeville, Louisiana Passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the age of 89. She was born October 25, 1919, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Mattie Bayless McDonald and Thomas Joseph McDonald. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and P.E.O. International. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gabriel Yves Blaize, Jr.

TAYLOR PETER NAQUIN, SR.
1937-2009

Taylor P. Naquin, Sr. Passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the age of 72. Beloved husband and best friend of Constance Caballero Naquin. Father of Troy (Robin), Taylor , Jr. (Laurie), Laurin and Rhem Naquin and Tori (Mike) Sanchez. Son of the late Samson Naquin and Louise Blanchard Naquin. Brother of Tex Naquin, Louise White and the late Tillie Daigle and Twiller O’Connor.

Capt. Gary Lee Strahl

Capt. Gary Lee Strahl, 51, Passed away at home on Saturday, June 13, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of 27 years to Donna Strahl; loving father to Shane, Mandy, Frankie and Quinn Strahl.

Strahl was born in Kansas City, Mo., on June 27, 1957, to Karlene and Charles Strahl. He is survived by brothers, Dennis (Arie), Paul (Barbara) and Mark (Diane) Strahl; and sisters, Kathy (Kevin) Borchers, Sharla Rogers, Linda (Don) Evans and Karen (Greg) Frederick.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is also the son-in-law of Don and Rita Heider Sr. and brother-in-law to Don Heider Jr. and Stacy (Scott) Fredrickson. Gary is uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Gary graduated in 1975 from Shawnee Mission West High School of Overland Park, Kan., where he participated in Band, NJROTC, basketball and Boy Scouts in which he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Upon graduating from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1979, Gary was employed with Keystone Shipping until 1994; at that time he continued his career with Shell Oil Co.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a wake, which will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. A Celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Apostleship of the Sea of the United States of America, 1500 Jefferson Drive, Port Arthur, TX 77642-0646, where Gary was a participant. Gary was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Kenneth P. Stein

Kenneth P. Stein Passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009. He was born June 15, 1925, to the late William J. and Winona Oulliber Stein and was a life resident of Madisonville. The beloved husband of Patricia Sharp Stein, he is survived by three daughters, Donna S. Lee, Melinda A. Stein and Kim S. Messina; two stepchildren, Sandra K. Ellison and Wallace E. Keller; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wenton Stein.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at noon today at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 307 St. Mary St., Madisonville. Visiting hours are from 10 a.m. until service time. interment will be in Theodore Dendinger Cemetery in Madisonville.

E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Assn., 2325 Severn Ave., Metairie, LA 70001.

Donald Richard Stains

Donald Richard Stains, 85, Passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Northshore Living Center, Slidell. He was born in Waynesboro, Pa., to his late parents, William Reed Stains and Emma Grace Hoeflich.

Stains was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army-Aircorps in 1946. He retired after 30 years with Gulf Oil, Co., as a draftsman.

He was the brother of the late Robert Stains; beloved husband of Rella Burge Stains; father of Larry and Charles Stains; father-in-law of Susan Robinson Stains and Janet Robichaux Stains; grandfather of Reid, Troy, Rachele, Victoria and Stephanie Stains; and great grandfather of Nathaneal Stains.

The funeral service was held Tuesday at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home followed by interment in Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town, 300 Flanagan Blvd., PO Box 7000 Boys Town, NE 68010.

Eunice B. Smith

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Eunice B. Smith will be held 12 p.m., Monday, September 4, 2000 at Avenue Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Clarence L. Hicks. Burial will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2000 in Southern Memorial Garden and Mausoleums, Baton Rouge, LA after a brief memorial service at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Sulcer will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2000 at Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., 1624 Milam Street, Shreveport, LA.

Mrs. Smith, 82, Passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at Dubuis Hospital of Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, one sister and one brother.

Survivors are one daughter, Annie S. Ramsey and her husband Ernest; two grandsons, Eric and Ernest III; three great grandchildren Erika, Zamien and Tarvares; two sisters, Gladys Gibson of Baton Rouge, LA and Hazel Jordan and husband, Ulysses of Richmond, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Christus Schumpert Hospital for their kindness in taking care of Mrs. Smith.

Eula Mitchell O'Quinn

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Eula Mitchell O'Quinn, 80, will be held at Rose-Neath Southside today September 2 at 11:30 a.m. Officiating will be Reverend McGee of Salem Baptist Church, Stonewall. Graveside services will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery.

Mrs. O'Quinn was a native of Marthaville, LA and had lived in Shreveport most of her life. She worked for many years as a private sitter giving care to the sick and elderly.

She will be greatly missed by her family who lovingly referred to her as Granny and then Gran Gran when she became a great grandmother. Her honesty and sense of humor made her a joy to be with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ovie G. O'Guinn; her parents, Joe and Mary Mitchell; her sister, Eunice Berry, and her grandson, Michael Garcia.

Mrs. O'Quinn is survived by her daughters, Elaine Ogrinc and husband Vince; Betty Mason and husband James; her son, Garland O'Quinn; grandchildren, Steve Mason and wife Teri, Denise Smith and husband Greg, Scott Mason and wife Tracy, Vince Ogrinc, Jr. and wife Amy, Stacey Garcia, Barbara Williford and husband, John Paul; Melisa Beatty and husband Lance, Julie Miller and husband Jack, her great grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Wes Mason; Kent, Jenilee, Lauren, and Denny Smith; Hayden Mason and Jordyn Godwin; Haley and Taylor Ogrinc; Mason, Alex, and Annabeth Garcia; Michelle, Emily, and Justin Hoffner; Joey, Ethan and Victoria Williford, Sarah and Hunter Beatty; five sisters, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve Mason, Scott Mason, Odean Ray, Jack Miller, Greg Smith, and John Paul Williford.

Gene Allison

MINDEN, LA - Services for Gene Allison, of Minden, LA, will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2000 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Mr. Allison was born January 5, 1944 in Wichita Falls, TX and died Thursday, August 31, 2000 in Shreveport, LA.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Masoner Allison of Minden, LA; mother, Vera Allison of Wichita Falls, TX; children, Amanda Capps of Tomball, TX, Tamera Allison of Shreveport, LA, Kenneth Allison of Bossier City and Jodie Entwistle of Huntsville, AL; brothers, Jacky, Jerry and Billy Allison; and seven grandchildren.

Ocie W. Cardwell

SAREPTA, LA - Services for Ocie W. Cardwell, 82, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2000 at Rose-Neath's Minden Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Danny Dobbs, Rev. Guy Murphrey and Rev. Eddie Rushing. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, north of Minden, LA.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 2 from 4 p.m. til 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Minden Chapel. Mr. Cardwell died Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Willis Knighton North after a brief illness. He was born in Wetumpka, AL and had resided in Sarepta for 38 years. Mr. Cardwell retired from International Paper Company with 25 years of service. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B. A. and Eula Cardwell and three brothers, Lehmon, Harvey and Robert Cardwell.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Frances Martin Cardwell of Sarepta, LA; one son, Larry Cardwell of Dallas, TX; one sister, Mary Ward and husband, Ray of Minden, LA; three sisters-in-law, Martha Hughes and husband Ted of Haughton, LA, Bonnie Thompson and husband, Joe of Garland, TX and Beverly Akin of Austin, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be David Overby, Mitch Overby, Ray Ward, Jr., Kevin Ward, Bart Thompson and Ron Thompson.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
