Leroy Gary Sr.

JEANERETTE - Services for Leroy Gary Sr., 72, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4:30-10 p.m. today with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at David and Landry Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Gary died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at Iberia Medical Center.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, a retired chemical worker for Ashland Chemical and Degussa Corporation for 40 years, and a member of St. John Catholic Church.

Mr. Gary is survived by his wife, Lydia Laviolette Gary of Jeanerette; two sons, Errol Gary of New Iberia and Leroy Gary Jr. of Broussard; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Glinda) Landry of Jeanerette; two brothers, Charles Gary Sr. and Sidney Gary Jr., both of Jeanerette; four sisters, Delta G. Derouen and Corrine G. Albert, both of Jeanerette, Lucille G. Gauthier of Orange, Texas , and Mrs. L.C. (Clara) Dooley of Jeanerette; five grandsons, Cody Landry of Jeanerette, Thomas Gary and Marcus Gary, both of New Iberia, Ross Gary and Benjamin Gary, both of Broussard; two granddaughters, Ashley Landry of Jeanerette and Celeste Gary of New Iberia; one step granddaughter, Stephanie Landry of Baldwin; and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Cora Hebert Gary Sr.; five brothers, Octave Gary Sr., Elton Gary, Lawless Gary, Joseph Gary and George Gary; and three sisters, Cora Guillotte, Georgette Arton and Georgina Gary.

Pallbearers will be Carrol Gary, Anthony Gary, Charles Gary Jr., David Gary, Ricky Dooley and Jerry Albert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Gary Sr., Sidney Gary Jr., L.C. Dooley, Wayne Dore, Bernard Laviolette, Adam Laviolette, Gilbert Laviolette, John Broussard and J.P. Geoffrey.

The David and Landry Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Harry A. Provost Sr.

FRANKLIN - Services for Harry A. Provost, 65, will begin at 1 p.m. today at Otis Mortuary with the Rev. W.J. Otis officiating. interment will be in the Main Street Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until time of services.

A native and resident of Franklin, Mr. Provost died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, at Kenner Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by two sons, Harry A. Provost Jr. of Houston, and Robert Provost of Franklin; five daughters, Diana Bell and Denise Provost, both of Franklin, Angle Miller of Davison, Mich., Tracy Pierre of Monroe, N.C., and Harriet Williams of Patterson; one sister, Ethel Robinson of Houma; and 19 grandchildren.

Mr. Provost was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Amy D. Romero

Services for Mrs. Sylvan (T.B.) Romero, 94, the former Amy Derouen, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at David Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Thibodeaux officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero died at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at her residence.

She was a housewife.

Mrs. Romero is survived by two sons, J.G. Romero of New Iberia and Kenwood Romero of Coteau; three daughters, Mrs. Al (Pearl) Romero Halphen of Coteau, Marion Romero Oliver of Houston, and Grace Romero of New Iberia; four half-brothers, Francis Derouen of Lake Charles, Gordon Derouen of New Iberia, Milton Derouen of Loreauville and William Derouen of Sulphur; four half-sisters, Bessie Ammons, Ruby Brown and Joyce Landry, all of Lake Charles, and Hennie Delcambre of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan (T.B.) Romero; her parents, Gilbert Derouen and Adoiska Viator Derouen; one brother, Lloyd Derouen; two half-brothers, J.P. Derouen and Kelly Derouen; five sisters, Evie Guidry, Ella Romero, Eva Stoutes, Nellwyn Trouard and Leah Yawn; one grandson, Gerald Oliver; and one granddaughter, Cheryl Halphen.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Freddie Wiles Jr.

JEANERETTE - Services for Freddie Wiles Jr., 61, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Arthur Lee Alexander and Walter Bell officiating. interment will be in the Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Wiles died at 4 p.m. Friday, March 20, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lafayette following a brief illness.

He is survived by three sons, Carnell Joseph Wiles and Clyde Raymond, both of Jeanerette and Seff Micheal Polk of Houston; four daughters, Linda Wiles Jones and Beverly Wesley Jackson , both of Houston, Stephanie Marie Wiles of Baton Rouge and Lisa Wiles Francis of Jeanerette; one uncle, Frank Scott of Jeanerette; one aunt, Marie Wiles of Jeanerette; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wiles was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Wiles Sr. and Geneva Scott Wiles; and his wife, Geraldine Wiles.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hurst Sr., Donald Ray Wells, Melvin Butler, Tommy Lewis, Bertrand Joseph Jr. and Bernard Rideaux Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carnell Joseph Wiles, Seff Micheal Polk, Clyde Raymond, Robert Jones, Peter Jackson , Alfred Williams, Nathan Francis, Corey Lacraig Wiles, Ronald Russell Sr. and Christopher Shawn Wiles.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Maxine R. Grossie

Services for Mrs. Sidney Grossie, 47, the former Maxine Romero Hebert Etie, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Guidry officiating. interment will be in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery No. 1 in Abbeville.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Scott, Mrs. Grossie died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at a Lafayette hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney L. Grossie of Scott; two sons, Derrell Hebert Jr. of New Iberia and Shawn Hebert of Scott; four stepsons, Donald Etie and Darrin Etie, both of New Iberia and Kasey Grossie and Kanen Grossie, both of Lafayette; two daughters, Amy Etie and Brooke Etie, both of Scott; one stepdaughter, Kelly Grossie of Lafayette; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Grossie was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Amie LeBlanc Romero.

Pallbearers will be Sidney L. Grossie, Bobby Maturin, Donald Etie Jr., Joey Hebert, Russell Romero and Derrell Hebert Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Thibodeaux and Jeremy Maturin.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Webster

Services for Hazel Webster, 88, the former Hazel Reed, will begin at 7 p.m. today at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Norbert officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the church and will resume from 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Webster died at 5:55 p.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Thomas and Daniel Webster, both of New Iberia; five daughters, Mary L. Gilliams and Gloria L. Dauphine, both of New Iberia, Mathilda Dugan, Dorothy White and Hazel M. Clark, all of Morgan City; 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Webster was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Webster; her parents, Robert Reed and Mathelde Reed; two sons, George Thibodeaux and Sylvester Webster; three brothers, Henry White , Sylvester Reed and James Reed; and one sister, Beulah Thompson.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

George Davis Sr.

Services for George "Paul" Davis Sr., 69, will begin at 8 p.m. today at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Cyrus Jackson officiating. interment will be in the St. Matthews Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the church, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

A native of Houston and resident of New Iberia for over 20 years, Mr. Davis died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Maison Teche Nursing Home following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Knatt Davis of New Iberia; one son, John Davis of New Iberia; two daughters, Frances Davis Anderson and Barbara Zehner, both of New Iberia; one brother, Joseph Davis of New Iberia; two sisters, Stella Matthews of Houston and Josephine Provost of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Davis and Stella Simmons Davis; one son, George Davis; three brothers, Rev. Jules Davis, Earl Davis and Robert Davis; and three sisters, Loretta Davis, Margaret Simmons and Helen Johnson .

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Ned Migues

ERATH - Services for Ned Migues, 78, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 8-10:45 a.m. Saturday at David and Broussard Funeral Home.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Lutcher, Mr. Migues died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at his residence.

The David and Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.
