Harry Curtis Driskill
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with the Rev. Roy Kibodeaux officiating, for Harry Curtis Driskill, 59, of Crowley, who died at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Burial was in the North Hanks Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Driskill, Eunice; three sons, Ernie Driskill, Montegut, Arthur Driskill, Crowley, and John Paul Driskill, Eunice; his mother, Maggie Sons Driskill, Statham, Ga.; three daughters, Debbie Driskill, Eunice, Susan Pierce, Kenner, and Carmelia Driskill, Many; two sisters, Madge Chiasson, Bougart, Ga., and Anna Mae Pines, Alpharetta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Driskll was preceded in death by his father, Harry Driskill; and one brother, Melvin Driskill.
He retired after 42 years as a boat captain.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Germaine Weil Maitral
Germaine Weil Maitral was born on Aug. 1, 1908 in Rayne and died on July 19, 2002 in Crowley. She was the last surviving member of the Weil family which came to Acadia Parish from France over 120 years ago. Her family left Liverpool, England, on March 25, 1905, and arrived in New Orleans on April 14, 1905. They settled in Rayne, where her father and uncle Jacque started the frog industry.
She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews, most who live in South Louisiana .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Maitral; her parents, Edmond and Marguerite Weil; her brothers, Jacque L. Weil, and George Weil; her sisters, Aline Weil Privat, Margaret Weil Lalanne, Jacqueline Weil Richard, and Georgette Weil Gauthier.
A native of Rayne, she lived in Ontario, California, for over six decades. She was an executive assistant for an oil company for many years.
Germaine had a warm and wonderful personality and always said what was on her mind. She loved her husband, her family, her gardening and needlework very much. She will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many family friends.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of the Landmark Nursing Home in Crowley, St. Michael Parish priests and Dr. Mulraj Katira for all of his care and warm assistance during the past few years.
Burial will be in Ontario, California.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at 10 a.m. The First Reading will be read by her great-niece, Marie Gossen Vondenstein. The Responsorial Psalm will be read by her great-niece, Jan Gossen Ware. Altar servers will be great-great-nephews Nick Ware and Tyler and Timothy Vonderstein.

Joshua S. Wilridge
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here for Joshua S. Wilridge, 16, of Albany, New York.
Wilridge died at 12 midnight Monday, July 22, 2002, in his home in Albany.
Burial will be in Maryland Chapel Cemetery in Branch.
He is survived by his mother, Edwina P. Wilridge of Albany, New York; his father, Munford C. Epps, Jr., Albany, New York; one sister, Amber Wilridge and five brothers, Therion Wildridge, Marquese Epps, Kenan Wilridge, Robert Epps and Xavier Epps, all of Albany, New York; his maternal great-grandmother, Ellen Buchanan, Branch; uncles and aunt and a lot of cousins.
Joshua was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Munford and Dorothy Epps, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Edna Wilridge and Therion Winbush, Sr.,
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Henrietta L. Freeman
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Progressive Baptist Church for Mrs. Henrietta L. Freeman, who died Monday, July 29, 2002, at the home of her sister, Shirley L. Emanuel in Lafayette.
Pastor Lloyd Joiner, Jr. will officate at the services.
interment will be in the Rayne Protestant Cemetery.
An active member of Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd Joiner, Jr., she was a retired elementary school teacher for Acadia Parish School Board for 35 years. She also taught adult education for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Cornell Freeman, Privat D. Freeman, and Ceasar LeBlanc , all of Lafayette; a loving mother, Selestine LeBlanc , Rayne; three brothers, Classie LeBlanc , Matthew LeBlanc , and Phillip LeBlanc , all of Rayne; one sister, Shirley L. Emanuel of Lafayette; seven nephews, one niece, three grandsons and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Freeman; her father, Privat LeBlanc ; and a brother, Oran LeBlanc , all of Rayne.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Progressive Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Ansley E. Dickerson
Funeral services were held Friday, July 12, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Ansley Elizabeth Dickerson, age 14, who died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at 10:10 p.m. at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
The Rev. Dr. Perry R. Sanders, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette conducted the services.
Musical selections for the funeral services were “Amazing Grace”, and “Tears From Heaven”.
Survivors include her father, Dwight A. Dickerson and his wife, Stelly, of Houston, Texas ; her mother, Janet L. Stevens of Lafayette; three sisters, Nicole Elizabeth, Jillian Claire, and Katelyn M. Dickerson; one brother, James D. “Jimbo” Wiggins, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Ravis and Joyce Constantin, Jack and Dot Stevens; her paternal grandparents, James and Velma Whistler and Edward and Elizabeth Dickerson.
Ansley was a native and resident of Lafayette for four years, and was a Christian who loved Jesus.
She was a student at Judice Middle School where she was recognized as a top accelerated reader and honor student. Ansley played the flute in the school band and she belonged on the Unicycle team and the bowling team.
A rosary was prayed on Thursday, at 7 p.m. in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Ansley’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 52884, Lafayette, LA. 70505.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Dickerson, Dustin Sonnier, Mark Stevens, Cody Stevens, Heath Henry, Elmo Cormier and Brian Schueneman. Honorary pallbearer was Uwell Porrier.
Arrangements were entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Lafayette.

Mary LeBlanc Falcon
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Thomas Vu officiating, for Mary LeBlanc Falcon, 90, of Carencro, who died at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burila was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 here.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
She is survived by three sisters, Bertha Domingue and Thelma Gerard, both of Scott, and Rita Vincent, Tacoma, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Falcon; parents, Lucille Hebert and Leo LeBlanc ; one brother, Lloyd LeBlanc ; and two sisters, Loula Mae Olivier and Hazel Thibodeaux.
She was a native of Scott and a resident of the Rayne community for 37 years.
Pallbearers were Leewood LeBlanc , Charles Gerard, Doyle Boudreaux, Robert Gerard, Kimble Olivier, and Jimmy Pellerin.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Vernice ‘Vern’ Marie Quebodeaux Hoffpauir
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday June 28, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Vernice “Vern” Marie Quebodeaux Hoffpauir, 72, who died at her residence in Rayne Wednesday June 26, at 8:55 a.m.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
She is survived be her husband, Patrick Hoffpauir, Sr.; three sons, Robert Martien, Friends Wood, Texas , Timothy Martin, Houston, Texas , and Patrick Hoffpauir, Jr., Lafayette; four daughters Helen Martien Booksh, Maringouin, Tamara Martin Speed, New London, Ct., Debbie Hoffpauir Chirillo, Fort Worth, Texas , and Denise Hoffpauir Stutes, Indian Bayou; ten grandchildren, Jen, Jeremy, Danielle, Andrea, Nick, Aimee, Eric, Megan, Hannah and Jonathon; one brother, Melvin Quebod-eaux, Egan; and a sister, Nell Martien, Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Elzine LeBlanc Quebodeaux; and a sister, Winnie Quebodeaux.
A native of Egan, Mrs. Hoffpauir was a longtime resident of Rayne. She was an accomplished writer and was inducted in the “Society of American Poets Emeritus” in 1976 and had short stories published in Readers Digest and McCall Magazine and poetry published in Poetry Digest and Digest of American Poets & Writers.
A rosary was prayed Thursday at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Thomas Speed, Rickey Booksh, Chuck Chirillo, Jim Martien, Eric Breaux, Jeremey Booksh, Alex Lawrence, Byron Martien and Nick Martien.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and special thanks to Dr. Mulraj Katira and Dr. Neal Duhon, Crowley American Legion Hospital and Hospice of St. Landry for their compassionate commitment to her care.
Arrrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.

Henry Bellard Sr.
On June 21, 2002 God sent his Angels to Medical Center of Southwest at 9 a.m. to collect another Angel for his flock, Henry Bellard Sr., 73, of Crowley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley, where he served as an usher.
Wake services will be held at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Crowley from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
He served in the United States Army from 1951-1952 and fought in the Korean War. He was a retired cement mason and brick layer.
Bellard was also a member of the American Legion, Post 506, the Knights of St. Peter Claver and the Soul Brother Civic Club.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maudry Citizen Bellard of Crowley; his children and grandchildren, J. Daniel Bellard (Sandra) and grandchildren Monique Bellard and Monica Bellard of Crowley; Brunella Bellard of Scott, Barbara Bellard and grandchildren Joseph J.R. and Marrisa; Isalee Malbrough (Danny Sr.) and grandchildren Lloyd “Trey,” Lakersha, Taylor , Danny Jr. and Damon, Henry Bellard Jr., all of Crowley; Darrell and granddaughter Jakera; Stephanie Garrett and a special son-in-law, Jeffrey Garrett, all of Houston, and Rochelle Bellard of Crowley; one brother, Getty Bellard of Opelousas; four sisters-in-law, Octavia Richard of Lake Charles, Juanita Wilridge and Cheryl Hammock of Los Angeles, Calif. and Margaret Ree of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Paul “Cowboy” Citizen Sr. of Houston and Anthony Citizen of Los Angeles, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Etienne Bellard Sr. and Ella Handy Bellard; a sister, Stella Bellard; four brothers, Howard, Joseph, Louis and Etienne “Cede” Bellard Jr.; two nephews, Robert and Curney Bellard; and two brothers-in-law, Terry Citizen and Early Joe Citizen.
Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of arrangements.

Gardy Lee Richard
Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church here for Gardy Lee Richard, 72, who died at his residence in Rayne Friday, June 28, 2002.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
He is survived by Gene Navarre Richard; three daughters, Georgette Richard Slaton and Claudia "Pie" Richard Gaspard and her husband Kevin, all of Rayne, and Marcia Navarre Haynes and her husband Lonnie of Dallas, Texas .; two sons, Bruce Navarre and his wife Patti of Youngsville, and Bennett Navarre of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren, Andria Marie Slaton, Brunswick, Ga. and Megan Alexis Navarre, Dallas, Texas .; and two brothers, Willie and Nelson Richard, both of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudette LaCroix Richard; sons, Jude Anthony Richard and Steve Milton Navarre; grandson Anthony Lee Slaton; four sisters, Agnes Tanner, Sadie Petitjean, Annie Monte and Leona Dearbonne; and three brothers, Lenis, Odilon and Numa Richard, Jr.
Mr. Richard was born on October 19, 1929, to the late Alice Legere and Numa Richard, Sr. He was a native of Rayne and began work as a mechanic for his brother, Odilon.
He then worked for Fremeaux's repairing farm equipment.
In 1954, his work in the oil patch began by working for Columbia Gulf as a repairman, then mid-size truck driver, foreman and superintendent.
He played a vital part in the installation of pipeline from the Gulf of Mexico to Hartford, Ct.
He moved back to Rayne and worked for C & B as shop foreman. He then became field supervisor for Travis Compression from 1980 to 1985 at which time Haliburton bought them out and he served as field service manager until he retired in 1994.
Mr. Richard devoted 40 years of his life to the oil patch and even after retiring would help anyone anytime giving advice or training. Mr. Richard had a passion for the oil patch but there was one thing he loved more and that was sac-a-lait fishing and spending time in the Henderson Swamp with his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends to whom he was always available to lend a helping hand.
The rosary was prayed Sunday at 7p.m.
The family would like to thank his many friends for their prayers, visits and support during his last illness, and a special thanks to the sixth floor staff of Lafayette General Medical center and Hospice.
Gossen Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
