Roland F. Gaudrault

Salem

Roland F. Gaudrault age 70 of Salem died Friday morning in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a long illness.

Born and educated in Salem he was the son of the late Joseph and Edwina (Cormier) Gaudrault. Following his graduation from St. Joseph Grammar and High School he Served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant for four years.

After his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Gaudrault received his bachelor’s degree from Burdett College Until his retirement Mr. Gaudrault was employed by the Shawmut Bank in Boston as a bookkeeper.

An active communicant of St. James Church, he taught C.C.D for several years. He had several interest in including reading, history, old cowboy movies, painting pictures by number and current events. He had a lifelong pashion for baseball, which he had played as a young man.

Mr. Gaudrault is survived by his former wife Gaye F. (Sylvester) Gaudrault of Salem, a daughter Susan E. Gaudrault of Salem, a son and daughter in law David P. and Van Gaudrault of Homestead, Florida a brother and sister in law Norman C. Gaudrault, M.D. and his wife Evelyn Gaudrault of Topsfield, Ma; two grandchildren Christina M. and Justin D. Gaudrault of Homestead, Florida and many nieces Nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Joyce Gaudrault.

His Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:45 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30A.M. in St. James Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Elizabeth F. “Betty” (Lowery) Panneton

Salem

Elizabeth F. “Betty” (Lowery) Panneton of 12 Pope St Salem, died in Salem Hospital Tuesday morning. She is the wife of the late Maurice A. “Moe” Panneton who died April 4, 2001.

She was born in Boston the daughter of the late Walter and Laura (Leclerc) Panneton, was raised in Lynn and was graduated from Lynn English High School. Mrs. Panneton had been employed as a nurse’s aid in Salem Hospital and had also been employed by Jordan Marsh and Sylvania Lighting. A member of the Navy League of the United States, she was a very active member of the Salem Senior Center.

Dedicated to her family Mrs. Panneton is survived by 4 children, Retired United States Marine Corp Lt. Col. John A. and his wife Alice Panneton of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Elizabeth (Panneton) and her husband Dennis Trainor of Lynn, Ernest W. and his wife Helga Panneton of Salem and Robert P and his wife Anne Panneton of Danvers; a cousin Ruth Bouchard; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held Monday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St. (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Mildred Dooling

Marblehead

Mildred Dooling, of Marblehead died Monday afternoon in in Salem Hospital following a brief illness. An educator, she is well known by many as “Miss Dooling”.

A lifelong resident of Marblehead, she lived in the house she was born in, the daughter of the late Joseph A and Helen (MacNeil) Dooling. Miss Dooling owned and operated the Devereux School and together with her late sisters nurtured and educated several generations of children in the Marblehead area. She was also the founder and directress of the North Shore Montessori School , the first Montessori school in the area.

A lifelong parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead, she was also a member of the Lady’s Sodality.

Miss Dooling is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jack and Gail Reilly, Maryann and Bob Lemelin, Beth and Peter Russell, Kate and Tim Gates and Michael Georges all of Marblehead, Helen Curtin and her husband Patrick Curtin, D.D.S. of Salem, Judy and Joseph Reilly of Acton, and James a Georges of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; many grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many dear friends including Marion Russell of Salem and Debbie Fadden of Marblehead.

She was predeceased by 4 sisters Mary L. Reilly, Ann F. Hegarty, Elizabeth P. Georges and Helen J. Dooling.

Her Funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St.,(cor of Rte 114, exit 25A from Rte 128) Salem, to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead. Aida E. “Ida” (Ventura) Butler age 81

Manassas, Virginia

Aida E. “Ida” (Ventura) Butler age 81 wife of the late Francis “Sarna” Butler formerly of Barr St., Salem, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 3 in the Prince William Hospital in Manassas Virginia.

She was born in Beverly the daughter of the late Luigi and Ernestina ( Piccirillie de Silvestris) Ventura, educated in Beverly Schools and was graduated from Beverly High School. After working for a brief period she met her late husband, married and they began their family. Mrs. Butler later returned to work at the Rexall Drugstore until becoming a librarian for the City of Salem.

She began her 21 year career at the Salem Public Library, Main Branch on Essex St cataloguing books for a brief period and retired as a librarian for the South Branch Library on Lafayette St., Salem. An avid reader, Mrs. Butler loved crossword puzzles, enjoying bowling, knitting, playing the organ and singing. Dedicated to her family, she was had been an active parishioner of St. James Church and a volunteer at both the Crombie St. Shelter and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem.

Mrs. Butler is survived by two daughters Frances and her husband George Taylor of Manassas, Virginia and Mary and her husband Clint Moore of Watkinsville, Georgia.; 5 grandchildren Eric, Michael and David Taylor and of Manassas, Virginia and Scott and Timothy Moore of Watkinsville, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons Thomas and Michael Butler; 3 brothers Guido de Silvestris, Augusto “Gus” Ventura and Attillio “Arthur Ventura and three sisters Adeline “Addie” Gulla, Argia “Argia” Bresnahan and Anita Hayes. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours5 to 7 P.M. Friday May 23 in the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St., Salem to be followed by funeral services at 7:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Christine J. “Chris” (Lubas) Perkins

Salem

Christine J. “Chris” (Lubas) Perkins, age 48, wife of David A Perkins of 30 Winter Island Road Salem died unexpectedly Friday afternoon in Salem Hospital. On June 18th she and her husband would have celebrated 26 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Bertha (Zielinski) Lubas. Mrs. Perkins was raised and educated in Salem at St. John the Baptist Grammar School and was graduated from Salem High School in the Class of 1973. After receiving her degree in Early Childhood Education at North Shore Community College in 1975, she married her husband David and began a family. A devoted wife, she enjoyed being a mom and caring for her family.

For the past several years, Mrs. Perkins has been a pre school teacher at Temple Beth El in Swampscott.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Perkins is survived by two daughters Krystle and Nicole Perkins of Salem; two brothers Edwin Lubas of Salem and Thomas Lubas of Beverly; a sister Laurieann Denis of Miramar, Florida; her mother and father in law Martin and Norma Perkins of Salem; and 4 nieces and nephews Cameron and Kelli Denis of Miramar, Florida and Michelle and Melissa Lubas of Beverly.

Funeral Tues at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church, Salem. Vincent Mulroy

Marblehead

Vincent Mulroy age 84 of Marblehead died peacefully at home Friday afternoon .

Born in Boston the son of the late Richard and Mary (Clifford) Mulroy and he was raised and educated as a child in Portland, Maine. As a teenager his family moved to Marblehead, and he graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1938. He then attended the University of Maine for a year until the outbreak of WWII . Mr. Mulroy joined the United States Coast Guard in July 1941 and saw duty in the South Pacific until being discharged as a Machinist Mate, Second Class on October 9, 1945.

Following his discharge, Mr. Mulroy received his BS/BA in Business Administration from Boston College in the Class of 1957. Until his retirement in 1979, he was employed for many years in the construction/engineering division of New England Telephone Company. From 1979 to 1992 he volunteered 7 days a week at the Hogan Regional Center for Mental Retardation logging 16,003 hours of service for children and their families.

For 10 years, he wintered in West Palm Beach, Florida and volunteered during those years in a local nursing home for clergy. A member of the Holy Name Sodality in Boston, he was a former third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Marblehead. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Knight of Columbus bowling league. An avid golfer, Mr. Mulroy enjoyed boating in the "Kiwi", a turnabout sailboat he built and sailed with his family.

He is survived by five children Michael and his wife Esther Mulroy of Marblehead, Patrick and his wife Linda Mulroy of Exton, Pennsylvania, Joseph Mulroy of Evansville, Indiana, Sheila and her husband Tom Hamond of Marblehead and Mary and her husband Michael McGovern of Swampscott; a sister Mary Keenan of Ashville, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren Tammy Hamond of Marblehead, Tara Kellner of Pasadena, Maryland, Conor, Thomas and Robert Mulroy of Marblehead, Erin and Laura Mulroy of Exton, Pennsylvania, Patrick, Sean and Shannon McGovern all of Swampscott and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Thomas and Richard Mulroy.

His Funeral will be held Thursday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be private. Anthony T. “Tony” Carideo

Salem

Anthony T. “Tony” Carideo age 75 of Salem died at home early Tuesday morning following a long illness. On July 31, this year he and his wife, Mary C. (MacInnis) Carideo celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Born and raised in East Boston he was the son of the late Samuel and Carmella (Puzzo) Carideo. Mr. Carideo was educated in East Boston schools and following his graduation from East Boston High School he became employed by Stop and Shop. For many years, he held various management positions throughout Massachusetts until his retirement.

Family was the center of Mr. Carideo’s activities. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed having his family together for dinner. Mr. Carideo enjoyed all sports, was an avid Red Sox fan and had been and associate member of the A.O.H. Division 18 in Salem.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 children Anthony T. and his wife Diane Carideo, Jr. Paul Carideo, Joan Carideo and Linda Tremblay all of Salem and Frank and his wife Lynia Carideo of Danvers; a brother Danny Carideo of Largo, Florida; a sister Mary Maglio of East Boston; 8 grandchildren Christine and Michael Carideo, twins Jason and Jonathan Hayes, Melissa and Nicole Tremblay and Kelsey and Danny Carideo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Augustine, Frank and Joseph Carideo and a sister Jenny Dellarocco.

His Funeral will be held Friday, August 8, at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St. (cor of Rte 114, exit 25 from rte 128) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. James Church, Salem. Enid L. (Precscod) (Simms) McCoy

Lynn

Enid L. (Prescod) (Simms) McCoy wife of the late David McCoy and predeceased by her first husband Albert “Digby”Simms, died Sunday, July 27 in the Abbott House, Lynn following a long illness.

Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Aleathea (Alleyne) Prescod. Mrs. McCoy was educated in New York Public Schools and was employed for several years in New York. She later moved to Salem and until her retirement, was employed for many years in the Laundry Department of Salem Hospital. Her greatest joy in life was loving and caring for her family and friends.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by a sister Eulene Hill of Lynn,; 4 grandchildren Essex County Sheriff’s Department Captain Robert M. Marshall, Jr., David A. Marshall, and Paul S. Marshall all of Salem and Brenda L. Marshall of Bronx, New York; three great grandchildren Brook, Vanessa and Megan; and one great great grandchild.

Mrs. McCoy was predeceased by a daughter Sylvia J. (Prescod) (Marshall) Burroughs.

Lewis J. Fusegni

Salem

Lewis J. Fusegni, age 76, of Salem, formerly of Marblehead, died Friday evening in Massachusetts General Hospital from complications following heart surgery. On December 29, 2002 he and his wife Frances E. (Stevens) Fusegni celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Philip and Fortunata (Mercati) Fusegni. Mr. Fusegni was educated in Porstmouth, NH schools and following his graduation from Porstmouth High School in the Class of 1946, he joined and served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his discharge, Mr. Fusegni joined the United States Air Force R.O.T.C program and was graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of New Hampshire in the Class of 1951. During the Korean War he served in the United States Air Force. He later Received his Master’s Degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in the Class of 1960. A registered professional engineer, he was employed at General Electric in Lynn for 10 years. The team he worked with engineered and operated the first turbo propeller engine manufactured. He then was employed by AVCO in Wilmington for 10 years. Later, Mr. Fusegni was employed by Stone and Webster in Boston until his retirement. He then established and until recently, operated his own consulting business.

Dedicated to his family, Mr. Fusegni was active in the community. A member of the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead, and a member of the former Elks Club in Marblehead, he was past President of the Marblehead Little League. He was also and instructor and later operator of the Lloyd Shildnick Tennis Program in Marblehead. An associate professor at Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute for Technology, he held a realtors license and had been associated with Frank Cassidy Real Estate.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Fusegni is survived by 4 children Joanne F. Desmond of Danvers, Susan Fusegni of Salem, John F and his wife Mina Fusegni of Marblehead and Sharon F. and her husband Philip Bartlett of Manassas, VA; a sister Eileen Caswell of Kittery, Maine; 6 grandchildren, Meaghan Elizabeth Desmond of Blacksburg, VA, Taylor Lewis-Stevens Desmond of Danvers, Alexander and Olivia Fusegni of Marblehead and Mackenzie and Jarrod Bartlett of Manassas, Va.;2 nieces Sylvia Peterlin of Cape Neddick, Maine and Linda Forster of Wilton, CT.; and a nephew Richard Fusegni of Portsmouth, NH. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph Fusegni and a sister Theresa Fusegni.

His Funeral will be held Saturday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead. Frances M. "Fran" Meehan

Salem

Frances M. "Fran" Meehan age 88 of Salem, died Thursday evening in the Life Care Center of the North Shore in Lynn following a brief illness. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mabel A. (Kenney) Meehan. Miss Meehan was educated in Salem Schools and was graduated from Salem High School in the Class of 1932. During World War II Miss Meehan served as a WAVE in the United States Navy. Following her discharge she was graduated from Boston University in the Class of 1951. She then became employed as a record librarian for Salem Hospital and retired from the Mary A Alley Hospital in Marblehead in the late 1970s. She is survived by a sister Barbara A. Driscoll of San Diego, Ca and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Robert Meehan, M.D., John J. Meehan and her sister Shirley M. Gourley.

Her Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem Peabody Line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. William R. "Bill" Tully

Salem

William R. "Bill" Tully age 91 of 40 R Highland Ave., Salem, longtime companion of Louise Stamford of Lynn, died unexpectedly in Salem Hospital Thursday afternoon. Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Austin and Mary (Burke) Tully. Mr. Tully was educated in James Grammar School and was graduated from Salem High School. A caring person, he was a crossing guard for the City of Salem for many years. In addition to his companion, Louise Stamford, Mr. Tully is survived by a sister and brother in law Mildred and her husband Herbert Schmidlin of Appleton, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers Joseph Tully, Retired Salem Police Captain John Tully, George Tully, Austin Tully and Paul Tully; and 5 sisters Mary Collette, Elizabeth Swanson, Marguerite Maynard, Gertrude Clark and Clare Campbell.

His Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.,(cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. James Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours immediately before the funeral from 9:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Interment will be in St.Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
