Dustin “Dusty” Campbell McCreary, 77, of Seattle, Wash. and a former summer resident of Nantucket, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 in Seattle after a short illness. A memorial service will take place in Seattle.

Virginia Drewry Thaxton, 90, of Boyce, Va. and the mother of Daniel Thaxton of Nantucket, died at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residence Center in Winchester, Va.

Bruce Ferrantella, 57, of Attleboro, Mass. and Nantucket, died Sunday, July 2, 2006. A memorial service will be held at a future date.

Philip Randolph Kiendl, Sr., 81, of Fayston, Mass. and Nantucket, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Services will be announced at a later date.

William C. “Wick” Kirby, ” 44, of Noank, Conn. and a summer resident of Nantucket, died Friday, June 30 in Lawrence & Memorial Hospitals in New London, Conn. funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 5 at St. Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury, Mass. Following cremation, burial in Mountain View cemetery in Shrewsbury will be private.

Randall S. Coe, Jr., of Nantucket, died Monday, June 12, 2006 in Hampton Bays, N.Y.

Daniel Gilbreth, 88, of West Caldwell, N.J. and a longtime summer resident of Nantucket, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 of heart failure in St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital in Wayne, N.J. A memorial service will be held later this year.

Bessie J. (MacAuley) Kimmett, 92, of Mattapoisett, Mass., Marshfield, Mass. and Nantucket and formerly of Quincy, Mass., died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at the home of her daughter after a long illness. Memorial visiting hours are being held on Thursday, June 29 at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at Sweeney Brothers Home For Funerals. Interement will follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetary in Quincy.

Ethan Jared Mize, 3, of Folsom, Calif., died June 21, 2006. A Celebration of Life and Entrance into Heaven will be held privately.

Thomas F. Shannon, 79, of Washington D.C. and Nantucket, died on Friday, June 23, 2006 at his home in Washington D.C. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, D.C. on June 28.

Byron Vincent Dunham Jr., 47, of Nantucket, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. A funeral was held June 7 at St. Mary’s Our Lady of the Isle Church and burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mary O. Kennedy, of Wallingford, Conn. and a former resident of Nantucket, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, Conn. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 20 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville, Conn. Interment was at Sacred Heart cemetery in Meriden.

John Allen Stroup, 89, of Nantucket died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at Our Island Home. A memorial service will be held in the fall.

Nancy Smith Bates, 72, of Rochester, N.Y. and Nantucket, died Thursday, May 4, 2006. A memorial service was held May 8 at the Third Presbyterian Church in Rochester.

Eric Franklin D’Oench, 23, of Montville, N.J., Burlington, Vt. and Nantucket, died Thursday, May 11, 2006. A celebration of Mr. D’Oench’s life was held May 16 in The Community Church of Mountain Lakes in Mountain Lakes, N.J.

John Allen Lodge, 77, of Nantucket, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at Nantucket Cottage Hospital after a brief illness. A service was held May 31 at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Donna Ruth Roux, 69, of Kittery, Maine and Nantucket, died at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Sunday, May 21, 2006. A memorial service will be held in Kittery on Friday, June 23.

George L. Dyer Jr., 75, of Gig Harbor, Wash. and a former summer resident of Nantucket, died on Friday, May 12, 2006.

Joanne Marie (Coppenrath) Holdgate, 68, of Falmouth, Mass. and formerly of Chatham, Mass. and Nantucket, died on Friday, May 19, 2006. Funeral services were held Wednesday in North Falmouth, followed by burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Falmouth.

Hetty Lonsdale Bixby Torrey, 86, a longtime resident of Sconset, died Monday, May 1, 2006 in Bloomfield, Conn. A memorial service will be held this summer at the Siasconset Union Chapel on Nantucket. She will be interred in the chapel’s columbarium.

Captain Nelson Coates Woodward, 86, of Nantucket, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Our Island Home. His ashes will be scattered at sea. A memorial service will follow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23.

Paul Theodore Arlt, 91, of Rye N.Y. and a summer resident of Nantucket, died Sept. 20, 2005 at his home in New York.

Susan Elizabeth (Mason) Thrasher Barrows, 95, formerly of Bellows Falls, Vt., died on Sunday, May 6, 2006 at Our Island Home on Nantucket. Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 12 from 68 p.m. at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt., followed by a graveside service on Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Thrasher family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pierre Garneau, 50, died on Saturday, May 6, 2006. A celebration of Mr. Garneau's life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Galley Beach restaurant on Jefferson Avenue. His daughter has requested that attendees wear no black attire. Due to construction there is no parking at the Galley Beach restaurant so please park on Jefferson Ave. or at the Jetties where there will be a shuttle to the Galley.

Patricia B. Inch, 82, of Eastsound, Wash. and a longtime summer resident of Nantucket, died April 20, 2006 in Memphis, Tenn. A service was held at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish in Orcas, Wash. on April 29.

Mary Virginia (Nealon) Burchell, 83, of Sarasota, Florida, died April 25, 2006 of natural causes. Services were private.

Octavia Mary du Pont Bredin, 92, a resident of Wilmington, Del., died on Saturday, April 15, 2006. Services will be private.

Edgar F. Orpin, Jr., 65, a native resident of Nantucket, died on Saturday, April 22, 2006 on Nantucket. There will be a viewing at Lewis’ Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will held at Prospect Hill Cemetary at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2006.

Kelly Ann West, 35, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Mrs. West’s funeral was held on Monday, April 24 at St. Paul’s Church. Burial was at New Prospect Hill Cemetary.

Julie Fein Azoulay, 47, a summer resident of Nantucket, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at her home in Florence, Italy. A graveside service at the Nantucket Jewish cemetery at Prospect Hill will take place on Sunday, April 23, at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. Azoulay’s memory may be made to The Nantucket Atheneum or a charity of one’s choice.

Elizabeth DuBarry Ernst, a resident of Bryn Mawr, Pa. and a summer resident of Nantucket, died peacefully at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Tuesday, April 11, 2006, surrounded by her four children. Services will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, at Pennswood and New Gulph Roads in Bryn Mawr, Pa. on Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m., followed by the interment in the church yard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory can be made to The Shipley School, External Relations Office, 814 Yarrow Street, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 or to The Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation, Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.

Willard Allen Speakman III, 67, of Greenville, Del., died in Antigua, B.V.I., on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service for Mr. Speakman was on April 19 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Del. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Speakman’s name to the University of Delaware Library Associates, Morris Library, University of Delaware, Newark, DE, 19717-5267; the Mill Reef Fund, P.O. Box 133, Mill Reef, Antigua, B.W.I.; or the Nantucket Atheneum, 1 India Street, P.O. Box 808, Nantucket, MA 02554.

Robert E. Allen, 84, formerly of Wakefield, Mass. and a longtime resident of Nantucket, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Nantucket Cottage Hospital after a long illness. A wake will be held at St. Mary’s Our Lady of the Isle from 2:30-5 p.m. Monday, April 17, with a funeral mass to follow at St. Mary’s at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Bonnie Bell, 54, of Nantucket died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 In Mashpee, Mass. A memorial service was held on April 8 at the Unitarian Church on Nantucket. Donations in her honor may be made to the Marla Lamb Fund or the National Mental Health Association.

R. Eloise G. Conrad, 92, of Essex, Vt. and formerly of Nantucket, died at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vt. Friday, April 7, 2006. Interment will be on Nantucket.

Ellen Jane Jaffe Goldberg, 60, of Boston, Mass. and Nantucket, died at home on Friday, April 7, 2006. Funeral services were held April 10 at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, Mass.

Stephen R. Jaskula, 19, of New Lennox, Ill. and a summer resident of Nantucket, died Monday, April 10, 2006 in New Lenox. A memorial service will be held on Nantucket this summer.

Robert MacLennan, 91, of Waltham, Mass., died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Funeral services were held April 4 in Waltham. Burial was in Mount Feake cemetery in Waltham.

Mark Whalen, 93, of Nantucket, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Services will be held in June.

George F. Woodcock, 76, of Buzzards Bay, Mass. and Nantucket, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006. Private services were held in Wareham, Mass.

M.D.B. “Margo” Carlisle, 70, a long-time smmer resident of Nantucket, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at her home in Washington D.C. She had cancer.

James M. Manning, 38, a resident of Mashpee, Mass., diedin Boston on Saturday, April 1, 2006 as the result of a car accident on Nantucket. Visiting hours will be from 59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 in Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue at Route 151 in Mashpee. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Christ the King Church, Mashpee Commons, Mashpee. Burial will follow at Sandwich Town cemetery in Sandwich, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FANN) at their website, www.foodallergy.org.

Robert Dennis McManus, 93, a resident of Nantucket and a long-time resident of Centerville, Mass., died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital. A memorial service for Mr. McManus was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Nantucket on April 1 with Father Paul Caron presiding. A luncheon attended by family and friends was held at the Maddequet Admirality Club. After cremation, Mr. McManus will be interred with his wife Dorothy McManus at Woodlawn Cemetary in Malden, Mass. in early May, the date to be announced later. Family and friends are invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to The Homestead, 115 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554.

Eleanor Preston Ritchie, 98, a long-time Washington resident, died at her home in Washington D.C. on Monday, March 27, 2006 after a brief illness. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made by contributions to Siasconset Union Chapel, Box 106, Siasconset, MA 02564.
