WILLIAM ALTMAN JENSEN
Raised in Lincoln, 45 Years in Westford
Bill Jensen, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of July 10, 2009, while peacefully gardening. Bill grew up in Lincoln and had many happy memories of his childhood in its then-thriving farming community. He retained many of his connections to Lincoln first by delivering milk to doorsteps for Bedford Farms, then delivering packages for UPS. He retired from Local 25 in 1998. He was an avid weather enthusiast, tended a garden every year of his life, fed the birds, cared for pets, and enjoyed country music. Bill and Mary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Grand Ol’ Opry in Nashville – a lifelong goal. He was a long-time member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Westford, which was a great source of spiritual support for him. He enjoyed many activities and trips through the Westford and Chelmsford Senior Centers. He also spent many happy summer vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee in N.H. both as a child and with his own family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jensen, daughter Linda Jensen of Pepperell, daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Tom Donaruma of Townsend, three beloved grandchildren, Ashlie Jensen, Joseph and Michael Donaruma, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nan Jensen of Pocasset, and a sister-in-law MaryLou Jensen of Westford. He is predeceased by his parents Olin Altman Jensen and Agnes Rasmussen Jensen, as well as a brother, Kenneth Jensen. He will be lovingly missed by family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 75 Coldspring Road Westford, MA on Thursday at 11 a, m. Visiting Hours will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 at Badger Funeral Home 347 King Street, Littleton. In lieu of flowerss contribution my be made to the Music Fund at St. Mark’s Church, Westford, MA

Clayton L. Guyett
Clayton L. Guyett, 85, of Harvard, MA died at Life Care Center of Acton on June 21, 2009, following a long illness. He was born in Massena, NY on May 24, 1924, son of the late William and Lotta (Dyke) Guyett. He grew up in Massena and was a graduate of Massena High School in 1943. He attended Columbia University, then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and later graduated from Clarkson College in 1950 with a Batchelor's Degree in Business Administration. He worked for several firms during his career including Pogson, Peloubet & Company in NY, Standard Screw in CT, and W. R. Grace Company in MA. Additionally, he worked for Sears in MA before retiring in 1991.
Mr. Guyett married in 1955 and lived with his wife, Emily, in Orange and Chatham, NJ until 1965, Simsbury, CT, and then Harvard, MA since 1969. Clayton was also a musician who formed the Harvard Town Band in 1975 and was its treasurer for several years. He also had his own German Band. Additionally, he enjoyed skiing, boating, flying and CB Radio.
His survivors include his wife of 54 years Emily (May) Guyett of Harvard, MA, his daughters Amanda Amory and husband Tuck Amory of Worcester, Corinne Norris and husband Greg Norris, of Portsmouth, NH, and his grandchildren, Mitchell and Nicholas Norris.
He was predeceased by his brothers Howard Guyett, Charles Guyett, Lloyd Guyett and sister Mary (Guyett) Hartman.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Harvard Congregational Church, Still River Road, Harvard, MA on Saturday July 11, at 3 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Cooperative Elder Services, Inc., 8 West Main Street, Groton, MA 01450. Badger Funeral Home Littleton is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Anneliese (Ewerth) Gray
Ruth Anneliese (Ewerth) Gray went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2009, at age 85. Ruth lived in the McKinney, TX area for the last 6 years, and lived in Pepperell, MA for the previous 28 years. Born in Blumenwerder, Germany, she moved to the United States in 1960. Prior to retirement, Ruth enjoyed many years of employment at Fairlane Mobile Homes of Lunenburg, MA. Since understanding Christ's Love, Forgiveness, and Grace during her 40's, she has attended First Baptist Church, Groton, and most recently Grace Baptist Church, Pepperell, MA. John 14:6 - Jesus answered, " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..... Psalm 18:1 - I love you, O Lord, my strength. Ruth loved the Lord and her family, and we love her greatly.
Ruth (Nana) was the wife of William D. Gray who went home to the Lord in March 2000, and is survived by one daughter Gabriela Tucker and five grand children Dana and wife J'Aime of McKinney, TX, Will and wife Jessica of LA, CA, Eric of Pepperell, MA, Emily and husband James of Franklin, MA and Karl of Boxborough, MA and 7 Great Grandchildren.
We will remember the blessing of Ruth's life during a service at 3 PM on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Grace Baptist Church, 42 River Rd., Pepperell, MA 01463. Visiting and greeting hours will be from 2 PM to 3 PM, and the service will be at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ruth A. Gray Scholarship Fund - addressed to Grace Baptist Church, Pepperell, MA.

William H. White
Of East Dennis, formerly of Bowers Road Harvard
William H. White III, 64, of East Dennis MA died on July 27th, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital of complications from a heart infection.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York on Dec 15, 1944 and raised in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood. He attended New York University where he studied economics and was involved in student demonstrations, Summers he workers as a union organizer of migrant farm workers. In recent years, he founded and advocated for Voters for None of the Above.
In the late 1960’s Bill started his career as a systems programmer and in 1983 founded his own consulting company, Westford Systems which he headed until his retirement in 2003. He lived in Harvard MA for many years where his voice was often heard at town meetings. He retired to Brewster and three years ago moved to Sesuit Neck in Dennis. Bill was a life-long sailor who loved the ocean.
He is survived by Barbara, his devoted wife of 35 years and by his loving children Gregory Dow White of Reading and Elizabeth White Saito and her husband Mak of Falmouth. He was devoted to and will be greatly missed by his grandson, Kunio Elliott Saito. He is also survived by his beloved mother Kathleen White Pizzani of Dennis and his brothers Peter Pizzani of Fort Lee NJ and Paul Pizzani of Darien CT and his wife Deborah. He was predeceased by his father, William H White, who was a Navy fighter pilot in World War II.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 9 at 4pm at his home in East Dennis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society or the American Civil Liberties Union.

James W. Griffin
James W. Griffin, 40, of Vermark Lane, Ayer died suddenly on August 2, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Cambridge on May 1, 1969 son Jack and Jean (DeAngelis) Griffin, both of Littleton.. He grew up in Littleton and graduate from Nashoba Technical High School Auto Body Program in 1987. Jim worked for Veryfine, Inc in Littleton for 10 years. He then work with his brother in the electrical business for 6 years and was presently at Sully’s Auto in Westford. He enjoyed fishing and also had a motto: work, work, work.
Bedsides his parents, Jim is survived by his wife Tracy (Philbrick) Griffin of Ayer. A brother Jack W. Griffin Jr, of Ayer, and 2 sisters Jean Oldenquist of Littleton, and Diane Steele of Ashburnham. his in-laws Anthony and Linda Polk of Littleton, many nieces, nephews, 3 great nephews and 1 great niece. His is also survived by his “children” a dog Blizzard and cat Snuffy.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church Parish Hall, 75 King Street, Littleton, There will be no Visiting Hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to North Middlesex Savings Bank, 489 Main Street, Groton 01450, C/O Jen Cordio.

Howard L Rieter, Sr.
Howard L Rieter, Sr., 74, of Jennifer Street, Littleton died at his residence on July 15, 2009. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 9, 1935 son of the late John and Birdella (Abbott) Rieter. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended the Cleveland School System. Howard joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and served in Okinawa, Japan. He later attended Wentworth Institute and received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Bradford Durfee Technical Institute. He worked as a mechanical engineer in several parts of the country and was involved with many aerospace projects including the Apollo program and Skylab.
Mr. Rieter made his home in Littleton for over 40 years where he was communicant of St. Anne’s Church. Howard and his wife enjoyed hosting Bible Study at their home for many years. He was a member and Past Commander of Littleton VFW Post #6556 and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He also loved to cross stitch and made several samplers for his family. He was a volunteer for many years at the Reuben Hoar Library. He loved watching movies, and could make or fix almost anything. He was an avid coin collector, creating special collections for his grandchildren.
Mr. Rieter is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine (Chartier) Rieter, of Littleton, a son Howard Rieter Jr., and his wife, Lori, and their children, Carly and Ella, of Maynard, 4 daughters; Karen Rieter- Barrett, her husband, Dan, and their children, Nathaniel, Rebekah, Aaron, Ann Marie and Karina, of Tucson, AZ; Sue Rieter, her husband, Mike Shea, and their children Beryl and Erick of Chester. NH; Lisa Rieter and her children, Mark and Julia, of Litchfield, NH; Wendy Gomez, her children Isaiah, Samuel and Elijah of Acton and great granddaughter, Abigail MacWilliam, of Redmond, Washington. He was the brother of the late John Rieter Jr.; he is survived by John’s wife Kathleen of Parma OH, brothers James Rieter and his wife, Kathryn, of Cleveland, Ohio; Thomas Rieter and his wife, Melanie, of Avon Lake, Ohio; and two sisters, Birdella Gaba and her husband, Rudy, of Olmstead Falls, Ohio; and Linda Arida and her husband, Paul, of Parma, Ohio.
The family is thankful for all the excellent care Mr. Rieter received over the years from the Veteran's Administration, and to the hospice team from VNA Care & Hospice, Southborough, and Griswold Special Care, Everett, who helped care for him in his final months.
Funeral from the Badger Funeral Home 347 King St, Littleton on Monday at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Church Littleton at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.

Ruth A. Clark
Ruth A. Clark, of Littleton, died on Aug. 6, 2009. Survived by her mother Florence Murray of Ohio; her daughters: Jennifer Butcher of Manchester, N.H., Mary Lou Carroll and Tracey Clark of Littleton; 3 step children; 4 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her brother Kenny Murray, Jr. of Ohio; her sisters: Sandy Hubbly of New Hampshire and Shirley Lourvay of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to ASPCA or your local Humane Society. Arrangements by Badger Funeral Home.

George H. Brooks
George H. Brooks, 76 of Shirley died on August 6, 2009. Born in Leominster on August 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Harold G. and Edna(Patch) Brooks. George was disabled and resided in an Adult Family Care home with Wendy Munyon-Tasca and her family. They made him a part of their family .
George worked at Montachusett Industry Resources in Fitchburg for many years and following his retirement, he spent his days at the Day Habilitation program at ARC Community Services where he was an active participant. He volunteered for the Montachusett Opportunity Council Meals on Wheels program, participated in physical therapy exercise groups, enjoyed arts and crafts and coffee/social hour with his friends. George enjoyed watching sports and had a unique caring for those who were ill or hurt.
He is survived by his nephew David Dean and his wife Susan and grand nephew Matthew and grand niece Megan all of Shirley. He was also predeceased by his sister Winnifred T. (Brooks) Dean.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday August 10 at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St.(Rt. 2A/110) Littleton from 5-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10AM in the United Church of Shirley, Lancaster Rd., Shirley, MA. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to ARC Community Services, 564 Main St., Fitchburg, MA. 01420.

Alta (Perkins) Jursa
Long time School Teacher
Alta (Perkins) Jursa, 96, of Snow Drive Westford died on September 4, 2009, at Life Care of Nashoba Valley in Littleton. She was born in Franklin, NH. on April 25, 1913 daughter of the late George and Mary (Neal) Perkins. She grew up in Franklin, NH and was a graduate of Franklin High School. She later graduated from Keene State College with a BS Degree in Education and later completed her Graduate work at Northwestern University in Illinois. Alta began teaching in Franklin, NH and Washington DC, Westerly, RI, and Waukegan, Illinois. She became teacher and Assistant Principal of Gurney, Illinois before moving to Westford in 1971. She had worked for the Westford School System as a substitute teacher for several years. Mrs. Jursa was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Alta is survived by her husband Adolph Jursa of Westford. A brother Neal Perkins of Tennessee and a granddaughter Erica McKinney of Burnsville, NC. She was also the mother of the late Margaret Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of First Parish Church United, Westford, MA 01886

CHOATE, Sarita B.
Of Groton, MA died at home on August 17, 2009. She was the wife of Anthony E. Hars, Groton architect, whom she married in 1997 and who survives her. Born Sarah Blagden in New York City in 1917 and educated at The Chapin School, Mrs. Choate attended Vassar and Barnard colleges. She was previously married to the Rev. Frederic B. Kellogg, Episcopal chaplain for Harvard students, who died in 1958. She subsequently married Joseph H. Choate III, Boston lawyer, who died in 1973. Mrs. Choate is also survived by her five children, Miriam Kellogg Truslow, Frederic R. Kellogg, Edward B. Kellogg, Sarah J. Kellogg, and Cornelia H. Kellogg, and by seven stepchildren, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Choate was involved in various aspects of the Groton community. She was a driving force in creating an elderly housing facility in Groton in the early 1980s, and was active in the Groton Council on Aging. She enjoyed the Reading Club in Groton as well as the Groton Garden Club. Mrs. Choate was committed to a number of other local organizations, especially the Indian Hill music center. Services will be private.

Alvin R. Sawyer
Alvin R. Sawyer, a life-long resident of Groton whose contributions to the town resulted in a baseball field being dedicated in his name, died on Saturday, November 28th, 2009. Alvin passed away in the Apple Valley Nursing home in Ayer, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 91.
Alvin, a 1936 graduate of Groton High School, owned a family painting business that served many residents of Groton for over 60 years. He was a leading force behind the introduction of youth sports in town and organized and coached teams for dozens of Groton’s young athletes. The town recently recognized his time and effort by dedicating the Alvin R. Sawyer Little League Field behind the public library.
Alvin was born on October 11, 1918, to the late Elmer and Florence (Keirstead) Sawyer. A mechanic for the U.S. Armed Services during World War II, he traveled to many military bases throughout the United States. On May 30, 1942, he and his wife, the late Elizabeth (Betty) Himes Sawyer, were married.
After the war ended, Alvin returned to Groton and raised his family while continuing his painting business. In addition to coaching, he was an avid golfer, enjoying many weekends at the Groton Country Club with his family and friends.
Alvin leaves his loving sister, Ruth Waddell, of Groton, MA; two daughters, Peggy Zaldivar of Jamaica Plain, MA and Fran Mooney, and husband, Don, of Clemmons, NC; three sons, Ron Sawyer of Fitchburg, MA, Steve and his wife, Jude, of Groton, MA, and John and his wife, Deb, of Lunenburg, MA; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Alvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Roland, Elmer and Frank Sawyer also residents of Groton.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Scholarship on behalf of Jean Waddell c/o North Attleborough High School, 1 Wilson W. Whitty Way, North Attleborough, MA 02760

Rick R. Gaumond Jr.
Rick R. Gaumond Jr., 23, of Plymouth died on Nov 12, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident He was born in Tampa, Florida on August 2, 1986, son of Judy Owen, of Leominster and Rick R. Gaumond of Methuen. He grew up in Lawrence and Kingston and has made his home in Plymouth. He had worked at Manomet Mobil and most recently was worked Customer Service at a 7/11 store.
Besides his parents he is survived by his sister of Kelly Valdez of Leominster, his grandparents, Doris Owen of Dallas, TX, and Leon and Carolyn Gaumond of Methuen He is also survived by his fiancée Stephanie Dubis of Plymouth, and many aunts uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St, Littleton on Thursday Nov 19 at 10 a.m. Visiting Hours will be Wednesday from 6-9 pm. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery. Littleton.

Olive (Taylor) Sheldrick
Olive (Taylor) Sheldrick, 85, of Leominster, formerly of Littleton died on Novenber 8, 2009, at The Highlands Nursing Facility in Fitchburg. She was born in Sacramento, CA on June 11, 1924. She grew up in Wakefield, MA and was a graduate of Wakefield High School and later attended a Medical Assistant School in Roshester, NY. Olive had helped in lunchrooms in Boston during WW2 serving the military personnel.
She married Thomas F. Sheldrick in 1947 and they in Newton for several years before moving to Littleton in 1954. Her husband died in 1968. She worked as a waitress for many years at various restaurants including The Old Oaken Bucket in Westford. She later became a bookkeeper. Olive was a former member of the First Church Unitarian in Littleton and had been active in the choir for many years.
Mrs. Sheldrick is survived 3 sons Geoffrey S. Sheldrick of Leominster, Norman Sheldrick of Shirley and Daniel Sheldrick of Ashburnham, A daughter Audrey G. Sheldrick of Northboro and 5 Grandchildren, Michelle Sheldrick, Leslie Andersen, Thomas Sheldrick, Kara Sheldrick and Katy Sheldrick.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Badger Funeral Home on Saturday November 14 at 11 a.m The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the service.

Richard "Dick" S. Goehringer
Richard "Dick" S. Goehringer, surrounded by his family, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2009 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He was 67 years old. He was the loving husband to his wife Suzanne M. (Bornman) Goehringer with whom he had recently celebrated 44 years of marriage. Family was everything to Dick. He was an exemplary dad to his two childgren, Heather L. (Goehringer) Causey of Antrim NH and Scott R. Goehringer of Nashua NH, who feel so blessed ot have had this man as their daddy. He loved his grandchildren immensley and spending time with them brought him incredible joy. Austin J. Causey (8), Eric R. Causey (4) and Abbigayle G. Goehringer (2) loved their Pop-Pop so much and they meant everything to him. Another granddaughter, Gwendolyn G. Goehringer, preceded him in death and he is now able to walk with her through the beautiful gardens of Heaven. He embraced his son-in-law Jeff Causey and his daughter-in-law, Jessica(Blasko) Goehringer as if they were his own children and was incredibly proud of them.
Born in the Philadelphia area on May 7, 1942, he was the son of the late E. Ernest Goehringer and Helen H. (Dyer) Goehringer. He attended Haverford High School, Haverford, PA and Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA. He proudly served in the Air Force Reserves. Dick was a loyal employee of the E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company for whom he worked for 43 years. After several relocations, he was transferred to the Boston area in 1987 in the capacity of Sales Manager in the Performance Coating Division. He retired from DuPont in January of 2007.
Dick had many hobbies, including a love for woodworking, gardening and the outdoors. He enjoyed volunteering at the Groton Transfer Station & Recycle Center and liked being a "Mr. Fix-It" for all his friends. He was there for anyone who needed him. He and Suzanne enjoyed traveling and had recently returned from an awe-inspiring trip to Alaska. A homebody at heart, Dick enjoyed golf outings with his son, playing with and babysitting for his grandchildren, relaxing with his wife, and spending time with his daughter. These were his most precious times.
Along with his wife and children, he is survived by his five siblings, David E. Goehringer of Sandwich MA, Donna (Goehringer) Hennessey of Bayville NJ, Diane Goehringer of Lancaster PA, Debbie (Goehringer) Foley of Coatesville PA, and Dale (Goehringer) Toner of Falmouth MA. He has an uncle, David Dyer, who lives near Columbus Ohio. He also leaves many cousins, neices, nephews, a large extended family with whom he loved to laugh.
The funeral services will be private. Badger Funeral Home in Groton assisted with arrangements. . In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to the Nashua River Watershed Association, 592 Main Street, Groton, MA 01450 or to the Groton Conservation Trust, PO Bos 395, Groton MA 01450.
