Mark is survived by his loving parents, Ruthann and Richard Ahern of Pepperell, his brother, Todd Ahern and his family of Chandler, AZ, .; his aunt Margie O’Day of Harrington, DE, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other wonderful and supporting friends.

After graduation, Mark worked in cable installation, auto repair, and telephone installation at Verizon. He had a love for racing, skiing, and other sports.

A celebration of life for Mark will take place Friday, June 3rd, at the Princeton Station, 147 Princeton Ave, in N. Chelmsford, MA, from 4-8pm . Memorials may be made to Pathway House, 171 Graham St., Gardner, MA 01440.

On Friday morning, May 27, 2011, Mark completed a journey. Where there was pain, confusion, despair and doubt, now there is peace. Life left scars that Mark could not find the inner resources to heal. The inner pain was too great; pain that Mark had contained within himself for years. He often lashed out in anger, mostly at himself. His mind was exhausted and his heart frightened. His mind and body breaking down; now both are at peace.

We are left with feelings of shock, betrayal, anger and sadness. Now it’s the “whys” and “what if’s” for those of us left behind.

Mark is in a better place now, where there are no more demons in his mind and no monkey on his back. He is in a place where he can begin to heal, and we should feel peace knowing that he has found it.

Now it is time for us to have compassion and forgiveness. Let our healing begin, as hard as that will be, for those of us left behind.
