Joanne Crow

HOLLIS, NH Joanne K. (Hedrick) Crow, 69, a resident of Hollis, NH and formerly a fifty-five year resident of Chelmsford, MA died on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Fort Myers, FL.

Born in Lowell, MA on April 11, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George and Eileen (Gilligan) Hedrick of Chelmsford. She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School class of 1962 and Boston University’s Sargent School class of 1966.

Joanne worked as a health and physical education teacher at Lowell High School until her retirement in 2003.

Married for over 46 years to Gerald (Gerry) Crow, they raised four children in Chelmsford prior to retiring to Hollis, NH.

Her most beloved pastime was spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren. Joanne was also an avid golfer and member of Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford and Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida. At their home in Hollis, Joanne was a member of the book club, Mahjong Club and Ladies Club. Joanne touched every person she met. Her infectious smile and ability to talk with anyone she met made her the life of every gathering. Everywhere she went, Joanne made friends. She lived life to the fullest with her family and friends especially her girlfriends “the Roupers”.

Joanne is survived by her devoted husband Gerry, daughter and son-in-law Sheri and Joe Then of North Haven, CT, daughter and son-in-law Kathi Crow and Max Brown of Salem, MA, daughter and son-in-law Chrissi and Ralph Antilus of Waltham, MA, son and daughter-in-law David and Becky Crow of Andover, MA; sister-in-law Carole Hedrick of Chelmsford; six grandchildren Brianna Then, Ryan Then, Kaiser Sklar, Patrick Crow, Teddy Crow, and Jackie Crow; and many life-long friends from Chelmsford and many new friends in Hollis, NH and Fort Myers, Florida, where she and Gerry spent winters for the last 10 years. She was predeceased by her brother Brock Hedrick of Chelmsford.

Visiting hours on Sunday from 1 to 5 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o’clock on Monday at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, Chelmsford.

Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joanne’s memory may be made to the Chelmsford High School Athletic Fund, 200 Richardson Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01863.

Clive "Faz" Fazioli

ANDOVER – Clive B. “Faz” Fazioli, a resident of Andover for over 50 years, and a resident of Palm Desert, CA passed away February 18, 2015.

Clive was the son of the late Rose (Brophy) and Bernardo Fazioli. Clive was proud that his father was a member of ASCAP, a conductor, and a composer. Bernardo lost his life in 1942 saving lives in the Coconut Grove Fire.

Faz graduated from Everett High School in Everett, MA, where he was a quarterback on the football team.

Mr. Fazioli served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and spent four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. His tours of duty included two years in Tokyo with the 5th Air Force Command.

Mr. Fazioli spent over 51 years in the investment business. He started his career as a messenger boy with White Weld and in 1979 he joined Tucker Anthony as a partner. Most recently he provided consulting services to Moors and Cabot.

If Faz hadn’t gone into the investment business his true calling would have been show business. He was a great orator, although he never wrote a speech, just spoke from the heart. No one could sing “A Foggy Day in London Town” better, not even Frank.

In 1987 with Hall of Fame announcer Fred Cusick, they created the made for TV Tucker Anthony Golf Classic. It was a favorite of New England golf fans and was seen every Sunday on TV 38 and NESN for 15 years.

Mr. Fazioli was past resident of the Boston Securities Traders Association, past president of the Federal Club of Boston, and a former member of the Union Club.

Faz was an avid golfer. He was past president of Indian Ridge Country Club of Andover, MA, served on the board of Salem Country Club of Peabody, MA, past president of Desert Island Country Club in CA, and a founding member of the Renaissance Country Club of Haverhill, MA. Most recently he was a member of Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA. In his golfing career he played many famous golf courses, including Augusta. He had six holes in one and was a member of the exclusive club that shot his age at “79”.

Mr. Fazioli is survived by his wife of over 20 years Suzanne; his step daughter, Deirdre and her companion Jay; and Russell Ahern, with whom he had an over 40 year relationship and whom he called the son he never had.

He was predeceased by his first wife Judith, with whom he spent 39 loving years; his brother-in-law, Dan; his sister, June, and his nephew, Danny.

It being his wish, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Clive B. Fazioli may be donated to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA 01843.

Timothy Norton

Timothy John Norton passed away on January 26, 2015 at his home in Lowell, MA.

Timothy was born in Lowell on December 11, 1966. He was the son of Charles G. Norton of Bonita Springs, Florida and the late Vivian R. Norton. Timothy grew up and attended schools in Westford, MA.

He is survived by his sister Jennifer and her husband Darryl Kinzer of Martinsburg, WV. Also surviving Timothy are his uncle, Richard Cornwall, of Exeter, NH and his aunts, Lois Spence of Stoneham, MA and Susan Cornwall of Westford, MA., along with many cousins.

Timothy will be interred in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA, in the Spring at the convenience of the family.

Jelescho Jelescheff

NORTH CHELMSFORD -Jelescho "Jeff" Jelescheff, 77, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, died peacefully at Town and Country Nursing Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Thompson) Jelescheff, to whom he was married for 48 years.

He was born in Krustina-Aytos, Bulgaria on February 23, 1933, and was a son of the late Yano and Elena (Pencheva) Jelescheff. He received his early education in Krustina, Kamenovo, and Bourgas, Bulgaria. In 1950, he and a friend fled communist-ruled Bulgaria for Turkey. While in Turkey, Jeff continued his education and received his high school diploma from the Secondary Preparatory Class at Robert College. After receiving his diploma, he continued his studies at Robert College, before immigrating to the United States in 1955 under the Refugee Relief Act of 1953, and with the help of a generous sponsor. He continued his studies in engineering at Rutgers University and then at Northeastern University.

Jeff served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 29 years as a principal hardware engineer by Wang Laboratories in Lowell. Earlier in his career he was employed by Edgerton, Germeshausen & Grier of Boston.

In his free time he enjoyed sailing, carpentry, and building and flying model airplanes.

He was a member of the Lowell Sportsmen Club.

In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by three children, Elena "Dede" O'Hair and her husband David of West Townsend, MA, Robert Jelescheff and his wife Inga of Gainsville, VA, and Scott Jelescheff and his wife Rebecca Kennedy of East Longmeadow, MA; seven grandchildren, Jessica O'Hair and Deborah O'Hair of West Townsend, MA, Scott Underriter and his fiance' Lisa Felts of Gainsville, VA, Kevin Underriter and his wife Elise of San Clemente, CA, Jillian Underriter and Nicole Underriter of Gainsville, VA, and Alec Jelescheff of East Longmeadow, MA; one great grandchild Kollin Sharpes; a brother, Zlatan Jelescheff of Bourgas, Bulgaria; and many nieces and nephews in Bulgaria. He was also the brother of the late Pencho Jelescheff.

It being his wish, visitation has been omitted. Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford on Saturday at 10 o'clock. Interment in Fairview cemetery in North Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, ATTN: Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.

Harriet Gannon

Harriet (Smith) Gannon, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away Saturday December 20, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Gannon who died in 2010.

She was born in Lowell, a daughter of the late Charles A. and Josephine (Donahue) Smith. She was raised in the Highlands section of Lowell prior to moving to Chelmsford. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and the Bradshaw Business School.

Harriet was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time in the company of her family.

Harriet is survived by her loving children; Joan Corbett and her husband Jack, John Gannon and his wife Ginny, Karen Malley and her husband Michael, Mary Tozlowski, and Carol Baraldi and her husband Stephen. She also leaves 11 grandchildren; Ann and Caroline Corbett, Maura and Brian Gannon, Kevin and Peter Malley, Mark and Lauren Tozlowski, and Marie Baraldi and her husband Ralph Hua, Cara Baraldi and Stephen Baraldi, Jr., a great grandchild; Sawyer Baraldi Hua, her brother; Charles A. Smith and his wife Ann Harrington Smith, a sister in-law; Elizabeth A. Connolly and a large extended family.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd Chelmsford. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Michael Slattery

Michael “Veej” Slattery, age 40, died peacefully Tuesday, February 25th in his home.

He was born in Lowell, MA on August 31, 1973, son of Mary Slattery of Chelmsford, MA and Michael Slattery of Derry, NH. He lived in and took good care of his home in Litchfield, NH for the past 17 years.

Mike, known also as “Veej” to his family and friends, spent his youth in Chelmsford and graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1991. Upon graduation Mike went to work for Artec Sprinkler for 23 years in the field of Fire Prevention and Protection. He loved his job and took pride in the fact that he was very good at what he did and was held in the highest regard by his employer. Mike was quick with a laugh and had an infectious smile. He never made an enemy in his life and his quiet, thoughtful and caring demeanor won over anyone he came to know. He was a huge fan of both the music and the message of the band Rush. Mike was a quiet, compassionate, unassuming, hard working man with many talents. He could fix anything. He was a good, loving son, a responsible and very hard worker, a friendly homeowner and neighbor, and was generous and always willing to help his family and friends. He loved his family, the outdoors, snowmobiling, and taking walks with his dog, Max. He also was a certified SCUBA diver.

He will be dearly and forever missed by his entire family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister Kathleen and husband Mark Matthews of Bronxville, NY and a brother, Patrick and wife Kerri Slattery of Tewksbury, MA. He loved and was loved by his niece and nephews, Hannah and Gavin Slattery and Jack, Joseph and Patrick Matthews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St. CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd. Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Friendship Center, 45 E Broadway, Derry, NH 03038.

Clementine Marchand

CHELMSFORD – Clementine “Clemmie” Marchand, 90, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away on January 24, 2015. She was surrounded by her family at her time of death.

She was born in East Chelmsford on May 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Teixeira) Ferreira, who immigrated from the Madeira Islands, Portugal. She graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1942.

She was the widow of Albert A. Marchand who passed away in 1996. Clemmie was active in so many ways as a 27 year employee at Marshalls, a communicant at St. Mary’s Church, an avid seamstress and knitter, and a proud volunteer at the Chelmsford Senior Center Supportive Day Care for many years.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Young and her husband, Roger and her devoted son, Richard Marchand and his wife, Jennifer. She was a loving grandmother to Heather (Young) Monte and husband Andrew, Robin (Young) Bliss and husband, Caleb, Jeffrey Marchand and wife, Rhonda, and Jason Marchand and wife, Christine. In addition, she leaves five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Marchand, Braeden Monte, Bryce Monte, Evelyn Bliss, and Katherine Marchand. She also leaves many nieces and nephews for whom she cared deeply and they all called her, Aunt Clemmie. She is pre-deceased by her brothers, Joseph Ferreira and Charles Ferreira, and her sister Mary (Ferreira) Garcia.

Visiting hours will be held at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford on Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.

Interment in Pine Ridge cemetery in Chelmsford.

William Burns

William L. Burns, 76, of Chelmsford, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Sousa) Burns with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 12th last year.

He was born in Cambridge on October 4, 1937 and was a son of the late Arthur L. and Marion (McSweeney) Burns.

William was a graduate of Matignon High School and Boston College. He loved everything about B.C. and remained a devoted follower of the Eagles in every sport. He maintained a connection over the years as a longtime football season ticket holder and was a member of the Boston College Club of Cape Cod.

William also served in the United States Air Force National Guard during the Vietnam Era. Prior to retirement, William was employed for over 30 years by Digital Equipment Corporation. An avid golfer, he competed in the DEC Golf League every season. He loved the New England sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed his summers vacationing on Cape Cod, and cherished the time spent with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, William is survived by his two children: Christine Fitzgerald and her husband Shawn of Lunenburg, William J. Burns of Chelmsford; and grandson Cole W. Fitzgerald. He is also survived by three brothers: Robert Burns and his wife Lynn of Bedford, James Burns and his wife Marguerite of Yarmouth Port, and John Burns and his wife Carol of Milton, GA; sisters-in-law: Janet Crowley of Colorado Springs and Miriam Sousa of Woburn, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marie Brogan and brothers-in-law John Brogan and Edward Sousa.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 21st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 o’clock at St. Irene Parish, 181 East St., Carlisle, MA.

Interment to follow at Heart Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in William’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, www.diabetes.org, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472, www.alzmass.org.

James W. Donovan, 61

Retired U.S. Postal Service employee

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Mr. James W. Donovan, 61 years, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Saugus, died on June 5 at the V.A. Hospital in San Diego, Calif.

Born in Lynn, raised in Saugus, he is the son of Andrew J. Donovan and the late Esther (Amero) Donovan. He was a retired postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and most recently worked in the food service department at the V.A. Hospital in California and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. A disabled United States Army veteran, Mr. Donovan was wounded in action in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart.

Besides his father, Mr. Donovan leaves three sisters, Andrea Donovan of Saugus, Diane Leppek and her husband Dale of Lynn, Holly Strychalski and her husband Donald of Maine; one brother, Scott Donovan of Saugus. He is also survived by many nephews.

Service information: A memorial service will be held in the BISBEE-PORCELLA Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation one hour prior to service 6-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 88 Winchester St., Newton, MA 02461.

Jeffrey Soper, 28

Enjoyed music, reading

LYNN - Jeffrey R. Soper, age 28 years, of Lynn, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers after a brief illness. He was the son of Jelaine (Spencer) Campbell of Lynn, and Kenneth Soper and his wife Donna of Peabody. Born and raised in Lynn, he has lived in Lynn all his life. A graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1999, he formerly worked in the stock department of Zimmans in Lynn and also at Shaws Market, also in Lynn. Jeffrey enjoyed music, especially playing bass guitar. He also enjoyed reading and magic. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother Brian Soper of Lynn; sister Elise Campbell of Lynn; a nephew and two nieces; grandparents, George Spencer, and Hal and Jean Soper of Lynn; cousins, aunts and uncles. He was the grandson of the late Ann (Elliott) Spencer.

Service Information: His funeral will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn. Interment will be at a later date. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.

Donald Legere, Jr., 53

Active in community, schools

SWAMPSCOTT - Mr. Donald R. Legere, Jr. 53 years, of Swampscott. lost his courageous battle with cancer on August 7th, surrounded by his family. He is the husband of Heidi E. (Currie) Legere. He was born in Lynn, the son of Shirley (Sonia) Legere-Jenner and her husband Bernie of Dennisport, MA and the late Donald R. Legere, Sr. He was raised in Swampscott, and was a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1975. He was a 1979 graduate of Hobart College in New York. He lived in Swampscott all of his life.

Don was very active in the Swampscott Community. He was the past president of the Clarke School PTA, serving for many years. He coached soccer and baseball at many levels for several years. In addition, Don volunteered his time and DJed at many school and community events. He shared his loved of music and sports with all who knew him. He especially enjoyed Springsteen and the Beatles .He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed numerous games with his family. He was a devoted father and husband. He was proud of his three sons. Don was a computer analyst for I.R.A., an international ship registry in Virginia.

In addition to his beloved wife, Heidi, he is survived by his three wonderful sons, Donald R. DJ Legere III, a Merrimack College freshman, William Currie Bill Legere, a sophomore at Swampscott High School, and Christopher Henry Chris a 4th grader at the Clarke School in Swampscott. He leaves a brother, Michael Legere and his wife Donna of Swampscott and a sister, Suzanne Legere of Salem, his beloved mother in law Renate Currie of Salem. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is the son in law of the late William Currie.

Service Information: Dons funeral will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 9:00 a.m. from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean Street (Rte 1A) Lynn, followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the DJ, Bill and Chris Legere Scholarship Fund, c/o Cassidy Associates Insurance, 232 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, MA 01907.
