Renald J. Purcell, 78

Retired GE employee

SALEM - Renald J. Purcell age 78 of Salem, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline M. (Ouellette) Purcell with whom he had shared nearly 50 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Canada, he first met Jackie while she was visiting family in Canada. Renald moved to Salem in 1951 and the couple was married in 1953. Mon Ami was a hard working man who was devoted to his wife, and family. He also took great delight in his many friends and co-workers and always had time to share with them.

Mr. Purcell first worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad and later for Metropolitan Building Movers which later became Quinn Brothers. For over 24 years he was employed by General Electric at the Riverworks plant as a class one licensed rigger. He retired from G.E. in 1990.

He is survived by three sons, Norman J. Purcell and his wife Jeanne of Salem, Donald J. Purcell and his wife Joanne of Peabody, Richard J. Purcell and his fiancee' Diane Darisse both of Salem and a granddaughter Giavanna M. Purcell. He also is survived by 2 sisters, Pierrette Pelletier, Sister Therese Purcell, 2 brothers, Wallace and Pierre Purcell all of Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michel & Freeman Mons Purcell and two sisters Arlene & Yvette Purcell.

Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 9 a.m., to be followed by his funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem Peabody line at 10 a.m. Visiting hours: Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Salem. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody, MA 01960.

Evelyn Boulay, 49

Enjoyed BINGO, time with grandchildren

LYNN - Evelyn Evie A. Boulay, 49, of Lynn, formerly of Lawrence, passed away Monday August 24, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of Margaret (Cianciulli) Boulay of Lynn and the late Leopold Boulay. Evie was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing BINGO, going to Foxwoods, trips to Florida with her daughter and grandchildren and scratch tickets. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter Monique Boulay and grandsons Jacob and Joseph, all of Lynn, her brothers James and Albert of Lynn and Donald Boulay of NH, sisters Donna Bragan and Lu-Ann Ross of Lynn, Karen Boulay of Georgetown, Debra Grubb of NH, Diane Markland of AZ and longtime companion Edward Todd of Haverhill as well as many nieces and nephews.

Service Information: Services were private and burial took place in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Goodrich Funeral Home of Lynn.

Kyle Elibero, 22

Sales representative for Comcast

PEABODY - Mr. Kyle F. Elibero, 22, of Peabody died suddenly Wednesday January 3.

Kyle was born in Lynn, beloved son of Deacon Edward Elibero of St. Richards Parish in Danvers and Kathleen (OBrien) Elibero of Peabody.

Kyle attended St. Johns School in Peabody and Peabody Veterans Memorial High School.

He was employed by Comcast in Waltham as a Sales and Customer Service Representative.

Kyles many talents included building and repairing computers. He also loved to cook. In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his four sisters Kathleen West and her husband William of Danvers, Christina Elibero of Malden, Amanda Lendof and her husband Henry of Peabody, and Katrina Thompson and her fiance' Derek Griffith of Lynn, 1 brother Edward Elibero, Jr. and his partner Brandon Morris of Melrose. Kyle is also survived by his six nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Service Information: Private Funeral Services and interment were handled by the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St., Lynn. Gifts in Kyles name may be made to the Boston Rescue Mission P.O. Box 120069 Boston, MA 02112-0069.

Robert Dusombre

Retired GE engineer, raced greyhounds

NORTH PALM BEACH, FL - Mr. Robert Dusombre of North Palm Beach, FL, died on Wednesday February 3, 2010.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Taylor) Dusombre. He grew up in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School. He also received an Associates Degree from Lowell Tech.

Robert was an engineer and retired from the G.E. River Works after over 25 years of service.

He was involved in numerous entrepreneurial ventures. His passion included raising and racing greyhounds. He was an avid traveler who enjoyed summering in Maine.

He leaves his devoted and loving wife Katherine A. (Costello) Dusombre, a brother Kenneth Dusombre of NH, several cousins including Sr. Mary Rose and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother-in-law of Walter and Carol Costello, Denise McKee and the late Mary Costello. Service Information: A Visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church Swampscott. Memorial Donations may be made to Sisters of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 03104.

Eva M. (Fournier) Dailey

Eva M. (Fournier) Dailey, 86 Formerly of Salem, died, Sunday, May 30, 2016 at the Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Dailey.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Olive (Allain) Fournier.

In the 1950’s Eva worked for the former Carr Leather Co. of Peabody. She worked for Shetland Industries, in production work, from 1962 through 1972. Eva retired from Salem State College in 1995 following 15 years in custodial services. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem.

She is survived by her brother, Paul G. Fournier of Salem and was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph and Leander Fournier. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. It was Eva’s request that there be no visiting hours and burial will be private. Arrangements are through the Levesque Funeral Home of Salem.

Jean Armand Louf

Jean A. Louf, 66, of Amesbury and formerly of Salem, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Maplewood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Amesbury on Sunday, May 29, 2016, following a long illness.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Armand A. and Cecile J. (Plante) Louf. Jean worked as an operating room technician for the Winchester Hospital for many years. Jean served with the U.S Army stateside during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted patriot; proud of his country and proud of his military service. He also loved gardening and cars.

He is survived by three brothers, Richard G. Louf of Lynn, Stephen L. Louf of Pebody and Johnny Evil of Saugus, two sisters, Gloria L Sabino of Peabody, Joanne M. Louf of Salem, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Roger S. Louf.

Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service and Military Honors on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1:30 PM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Veterans Section, 226 North St., Salem, MA.

J. Louis "Wish" St. Pierre

J. Louis ‘Wish” St. Pierre, 69, a former resident of Salem, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Constance (Roy) St. Pierre.

Born in Ste. Anne-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Alphee and Methaide (Thibodeau) St. Pierre. Raised in Edmundston, NB, he came to Salem in 1967. Most of his career was working in industrial chimney repairs and cleaning for the Boston Chimney Co. “Wish” retired in 2000 on a disability. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by a son, W. Lee Gentry of Lynn, four daughters, Nancy A. LeBlanc and her husband Mike of Salem, Michelle E. Thompson and her husband Scott of Hewitt, NJ, Nicole L Conway of Salem, Christine J. Perez and her husband Elvis of Peabody, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Richard A. St. Pierre.

He also leaves three brothers, Robert St. Pierre of Connecticut, Reno & Jean Paul St. Pierre and six sisters, Alphena Levesque, Diane Levesque, Irene Pelletier, Therese St. Onge, Cecile Gamache and Gisele Babineau all of Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. Salem [Route 114 / 1-A] on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 9:00 AM to be followed by his funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Ste. Lillian T. Bouchard

Lillian T. Bouchard, 91, a former resident of Salem, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Sunrise of Lynnfield

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Ella (Robinson) Bouchard. She was the sister of the late Henry Bouchard, Elizabeth Poussard, Rita Andruskiewicz, Therese Baxter and aunt of the late Raymond Poussard.

Lillian was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy Class of 1943. She was employed by New England Electric System for 42 years in various positions and at various locations. At the time of her retirement, she was secretary for the superintendent of the Salem Harbor Station. Following her retirement, Lillian volunteered as an aid for St. Joseph School. She was a former President of the North Shore Chapter of the National Secretaries Association.

A kind, generous family oriented caregiver, Lillian devoted much of her time to the St. Joseph Alumni Association and fund raising for the former St. Joseph Parish. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Sodality and was an Associate of the Sisters of the Assumption.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Monday at 9:00 AM to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 10:00 AM. Alice M. (Paradis) LeBlanc

Alice M. (Paradis) LeBlanc, age 73 of Danvers, died at the NSMC / Salem Hospital, June 11, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (LeBlanc) Paradis.

Alice was a graduate of St. Chretienne Academy. She was employed by the City of Salem in various positions for the Park and Recreation Department and for the Council on Aging.

She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl A. Bammarito and her husband Tony of Allentown, NH, Carolyn M. Sammartino and her husband John of Woodbridge, VA, Chrissy A. LaPointe of Clearwater, FL.

She was the beloved grandmother of Ashley and Marshall LeBel, Matthew and Jillian Sammartino, Joshua Jankowiak and great-grandson of David Dorr. She leaves one sister, Janet E. Spak and her husband Theodore of Danvers, three brothers, Paul R. Paradis and his wife Robin of Waldorf, MD, Roger E. Paradis and his wife Dorothy of Carnegie, PA, Jean A. Paradis of Ipswich and her God Mother, May Pinault. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins..

Friends and relatives and invited to attend her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, on Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Ste. Anne church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem.

John Anthony Raynes, Sr.

John Anthony Raynes, Sr., 53, of Simpsonville, husband of Shelly (McCredy) Raynes, died June 8, 2016 in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Born in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late John Hayes and Eleanor (Deschene) Raynes. John was retired from the United States Air Force.

Celebrating John's Life includes recognizing 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. Throughout his military career, John was steadily honored for outstanding conduct, professionalism and service to his country. His family has had a strong military tradition with both ancestors and descendants serving our country. John was frequently called upon for expert photography assignments. Capturing essential scientific and complex elements behind the lens was one of his innate abilities. Serving his country made him so proud and honored.

John's extraordinary ability to genuinely and selflessly love, care and give, makes it tremendously difficult to realize the loss of what hundreds of people describe as a very best friend.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Shelly since 1999, include one son, John Anthony Raynes, Jr., and his wife Rose of Norfolk, VA, and two daughters, Ashley Helen Raynes of Salem, MA and Hannah Grace Raynes of Simpsonville.

Cynthia L. Michaud-Fitch

Cynthia L. Michaud-Fitch, 62, of Vail, AZ, died suddenly on Sunday March 6, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Dayton Fitch, loving mother of Jason and Keith Lizotte, and proud daughter of the late Commander J. Alexander and Dorothy Michaud. Cynthia was born and raised in Salem and lived in Beverly for several years before moving to Arizona nine years ago.

Cynthia was a graduate of Beverly High School. She worked at Michaud Bus Lines of Salem, MA for many years and more recently as the Head of Transportation at the Beverly Council on Aging. Cynthia loved her family and bringing joy and laughter to others. Her infectious laugh could always be heard several rooms away at any family gathering. She loved her long rides with her husband enjoying the beautiful sunshine and scenery of the desert and vacationing in Sedona. But most of all she loved “her boys”; she was so proud of them and their accomplishments. She adored her grandchildren and eagerly looked forward to her Facetime chats with them.

Cynthia’s legacy is one of love, a genuine smile, and friendship.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Dayton Fitch of Vail, AZ. She is also survived by her two sons: Jason A Lizotte and his wife Lauralee of Haverhill, and Keith R Lizotte and his fiancée Maggie January of Salisbury. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. She is the sister of Jay Michaud and his wife Susan of Marblehead, J.R. Spike Michaud and his wife Mary of Seabrook, NH, B.P. Biff Michaud and his partner Helena Walter of Marblehead, Gale Bierman and her husband Mike of Bermuda, B.K. Gig Michaud and his wife Gia Page of Rowley, Joy Michaud and her husband Paul Wing of Newbury and Eric Michaud of Danvers. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and several old and new friends.

Visiting hours will be at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, March 16th from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 1 Union Street, #301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.

F. Donald Swenbeck, III

F. Donald Swenbeck, III, 32, of Lynn, died suddenly, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Lynn. He was the partner and twenty year best friend of Katheryne A. (Poehler) Swenbeck of Salem.

Born in Salem, he was the son of Marion (Parker) Swenbeck of Lynn and F. Donald Swenbeck, Jr. of Florida. Since the age of 19, Donald was a tow truck driver, most recently with G and J Towing of Peabody. He was formerly employed at New Beverly Auto Center in Beverly for nine years. Donald loved the pit bull breed and leaves his pit bull Sonni.

In addition to his partner Katie and his mother and father, he leaves his step father Douglas Ross of Lynn, his sister, Paula and her partner Ashley

DeMelo of Lynn, grandparents, Paula and Irving Parker of Salem, his mother-in-law Linda Poehler of Salem, several aunts and uncles as well as cousins.

Relatives and friends are invite to visiting hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114/ 1-A] Salem on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. At Donald’s request there will no additional services.

Bernard F. Caron

Peabody - Bernard F. Caron age 82, died suddenly on July 1, 2007 at his summer home in Raymond, ME. He was a former resident of Salem and was currently a resident of Brooksby Village.

Born in Peabody, he was one of 11 surviving children of Henry A. and Louise (Ouellette) Caron. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1943 where he was treasurer of the senior class and was the starting fullback on the football team that won the championship that year.

The day after his graduation from high school, Bernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served with distinction during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he went to work at his parents’ Caron Restaurant on Bridge St. in Salem. He married Thelma (Nyman) of Peabody in 1949 and joined the Salem Police Department in 1960, where he rose through the ranks to becoming Captain. He continued his education on a part time basis, graduating with an associate’s degree from North Shore Community College, and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University. He retired in 1990.

During retirement, he traveled extensively throughout the United States including two trips to Alaska and several cross country excursions. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, ballroom dancing, acting and singing. He won the 2006 Tanner City Idol Singing Competition in the 60+ category for his rendition of ‘ Young at Heart’.

Bernie’s wife Thelma predeceased him in 1992. Their daughter Jayne died shortly after birth in 1961. He is survived by a daughter Gayle Caron-Moriarity & her husband Charles Moriarity of Delmar, NY, a son Paul Caron & his wife Courtney Bryan-Caron of Cincinnati, OH, 4 grandchildren: Jayne, Molly, Reed & Tim. He is also survived by his friend and traveling companion Claire Dionne, a brother Henry Caron of Florida, 4 sisters: Gloria Purdy of Beverly, Marie Dzierzanowski & Carol Julien both of Nashua, NH, Patricia Price of Danvers. He was predeceased by 4 brothers: Roger, Lawrence, Richard & Norman Caron and a sister Peggy DiThomas.

His funeral will held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 am. Visiting Hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Council on Aging, 5 Broad St., Salem, MA 01970 or the Peabody Council on Aging, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.

Michael Zarba, 22

Enjoyed wrestling, music, games

LYNN - Michael 'Mike' S. Zarba, 22 years of Lynn died on Wednesday, May 20th in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a result of injuries he received in a hit and run accident. Mike was born in Lynn, the son of Philip Zarba of Lynn and Annemarie (Sutherland) Zarba of Gardner. He was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He has lived in Lynn all of his life.

Mike liked to watch wrestling with his friends. He enjoyed music and played guitar. He liked playing video games especially Guitar Hero. He was a good uncle and was devoted to his nephew and nieces. He was a fun loving, out going and helpful young man. He will be missed by his many friends. Mike has worked for this past year and a half at the Home Depot in Salem as a cashier and clerk.

In addition to his father and mother, Mike is survived by; his grandmother Rose (Chiappini) Zarba of Lynn, his sister Krystina (Sutherland) Tejeda and her husband Luis of Lynn, his brother Louis Zarba of Lynn. He also leaves his nephew Aquino Loayza, his nieces, Aeriana Loayza and Mariah Velazquez, his many friends and his cat, Meg. He is the grandson of the late Philip Zarba, and Joyce Sutherland.

Service Information: Mikes funeral will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (rte 129) Lynn . Cremation will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Memory of Michael Zarba, Traumatic Brian Injury Fund, Massachusetts General Hospital, Development Fund, 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
