DIPACE, LUCY

DIPACE, LUCY -- Lucy (Mattera) DiPace, 85, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the New England Home for the Deaf in Danvers following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Thomas M. DiPace.

Born in Naples, Italy, on March 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Josephine Mattera. She emigrated from Italy to Norwalk, CT in 1930 and had been a resident of New Britain for forty-five years. She was a 1943 graduate of the Mystic Oral School for the Deaf in Mystic, CT.

Mrs. DiPace was employed as a seamstress for Magson Uniforms in Kensington for many years. She also worked as a seamstress for several clothing manufacturers in both New Britain and Norwalk.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking, and loved sharing her faith within her community. She was a member of the Waterbury Sign Language Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses and was baptized in 1980.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 3PM in the Waterbury Sign Language Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, No. Main St., Waterbury, CT. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.

GIAMBRONE, VITA

GIAMBRONE, VITA -- Vita Mary (Salvo) Giambrone 88, of Middleton, formerly of Malden and East Boston, died Wednesday morning in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Giambrone who died in 1968.

Born in Boston on August 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Giueseppi and Sarah (Aiello) Salvo. She was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School Class of 1935. She had been a resident of Middleton for over 14 years.

Vita was a homemaker and after marrying Joseph on February 2, 1947 they moved from East Boston to Malden where she raised her children prior to moving to Middleton to be closer to her family. She enjoyed spending time at the malls shopping and enjoyed family gatherings. She especially loved her two dogs Fenwick and Mollie.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Tony Giambrone and his wife Frannie of West Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Sara DiCenso and her husband Fernando Freddie of Middleton: 3 grandchildren, Gina Cleary, Kimberly Kim Giambrone and Joseph Jay Giambrone all of West Peabody, a great granddaughter, Brianna Cleary; 3 brothers, Gasper Guy Salvo of Medford, Ignazio Iggy Salvo of North Reading formerly of East Boston and Lawrence Salvo of West Peabody. She is also survived by a special nephew Stephen Salvo and his wife Laurie and children Christopher, Cory and Connor all of Middleton and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Vito, Charles, Peter and Joseph Salvo.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 9:00AM in St Josephs Church, Salem St., Malden. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.

LAVERS, IRENE

LAVERS, IRENE -- Irene H. (Ramsdell) Lavers, 86, a devoted mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at her home. She was the wife of the late Nelson W. Lavers.

Born in Beverly on March 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Anderson) Ramsdell. She was raised and educated in Beverly and was a 1937 graduate of Beverly High School. Mrs. Lavers had been a longtime Danvers resident.

She was employed for many years in the housekeeping department at the former Danvers State Hospital.

Mrs. Lavers enjoyed animals and birds. She was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Lavers of Boynton Beach, FL; a sister, Florence Thibeault of Dover, NH; two grandchildren: Joel Busi of Portland, ME and Andrea Ducharme of Newton, NH; and two great-grandchildren, Jake and Sara Ducharme of Newton, NH. She was the mother of the late Carl Lavers.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. An hour of visitation will precede the service from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Donations in Mrs. Lavers memory may be made to VFW Post #2359, 5 Conant St., Danvers, MA 01923.

MAIHOS, MAFALDA

MAIHOS, MAFALDA - - Mafalda Sally (Angelini) Maihos, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 at a local nursing home. She was the wife of the late Michael Maihos.

Born in Beverly on June 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Tournani) Angelini. She was raised and educated in Beverly but resided in Danvers for over seventy years. Mrs. Maihos was employed as a lead hand at Hotwatt in Danvers for over 20 years. She loved animals and also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lindsey Maihos of NH; a daughter Janet Delpero of Danvers; 9 grandchildren, Michelle, Kristen, Amy, Emily, Robin, Lisa, Stephanie, Malinda, Shari; 23 great grandchildren; a sister Ann Pellegrini of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Michael, a grandson Michael, Jr. and many siblings.

Her funeral service will be held on Thurs. Jan. 5, 2006 at 11:00am at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St. Danvers. Burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Vst. Hrs are Weds. from 4pm-8pm. Relatives and friends are invited.

BROWN, PAUL JOSEPH

BROWN, PAUL JOSEPH -- PAUL JOSEPH BROWN, 88, died Tues. Dec 13, 2005 at the Palm Bay Community Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice (Roy) Brown.

He was born in Danvers on Feb 11, 1917. He returned to Beverly, after serving in World War II as a combat fighter for the Army. He was a Beverly resident for over 35 years. He was employed as a senior executive at GTE Sylvania for 47 years prior to retirement.

He is survived by a son Paul Jay Brown of Salem; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and George Noyes of FL; grandchildren Shawn Noyes of Danvers and Amanda Noyes Reading and her husband Anthony of FL; great grandchildren, Allison, Sabrina, Kimberly and Nicole, a sister Sally Morressey of Danvers and sister-in-law Lola Rusty Brown of FL and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Browns Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are made by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.

FOSSA, LINDA J.

FOSSA, LINDA J. -- Linda Jeanne Fossa, 51, died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2006.

Born in Beverly on July 20, 1955, she was the daughter of Dorothy J. (Linsdau) Fossa and the late James H. Fossa. Linda was raised and educated in Danvers, and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1973. Following her graduation, Linda worked at Western Electric in North Andover.

Linda lived in Beverly for most of her adult life. She loved animalsall creatures big and small. She enjoyed drawing, doing crafts, taking walks, spending time with her family, and visiting the beach. She had a wonderful sense of humor. No one could tell Linda what to do or what was best for her. She was very independent and definitely did things her way! She gave from her heart and was always careful not to want too much because there were so many others who needed so much more. She was loved unconditionally by her family and will be missed more than she could ever have imagined.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother, Steve Fossa of Peabody, a sister, Dianne Finn of Danvers and their families; and several nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, an extended family, and many friends.

A Graveside Ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at 2:45PM in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Lake St., West Peabody. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at 8:30AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend both services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill: NAMI-MA, 400 W. Cummings Park, Suite 6650, Woburn, MA 01801 Attn: Cathy Lee.

MAUNSELL, GEORGE W., Jr.

MAUNSELL, GEORGE W., Jr. -- George W. Maunsell Jr., 60, died unexpectedly on Saturday in his home.

Born in Lynn on August 19, 1945, he was the son of George and Ethel (Underhill) Maunsell. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1965. He went on to graduate from the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science and Embalming in 1967, and later the American Real Estate Academy.

George was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967-1969 in the 6th Infantry. He was a longtime Danvers resident who recently made his home in Beverly.

For several years he owned and operated the former Maunsell Funeral Home, located on Park Street in Danvers. He was an honorary lifetime member of the British Institute of Embalmers and also the Conference of Funeral Service Examiners. In addition, he was previously employed at both the Dodge Chemical Company of Cambridge and Lee, Moody, & Russell Funeral Home of Beverly.

He was also employed at Vernon A. Martin Real Estate as a real estate broker.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Peter Maunsell of Georgetown, Albert Maunsell of West Springfield, Frances Tambini of Peabody, and Nancy Greco of NH; his former wife, Virginia (McOsker) (Veno) Maunsell of Danvers, 2 step-brothers, Norman and Robert Maunsell of FL; and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited.

CULLEN, JOHN D.

CULLEN, JOHN D. -- John D. Cullen, 54, formerly of Danvers, died early Sunday morning in his Falmouth home following a lengthy illness.

Born in Salem on April 14, 1951, he the son of Elinor (Callahan) Cullen and the late George L. Cullen. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1969. He resided in Danvers most of his adult life, lived in Salem for several years, and recently had made his home in Falmouth.

Mr. Cullen had been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Danvers State Hospital until its closure and then at Tewksbury State Hospital until his illness.

John enjoyed working in his garden and his cat. He loved spending time with his loving family.

Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, George Cullen of Salem, Joseph Cullen of Newburyport, and Mark Cullen of Hampton, NH; a sister, Deborah Fauci of Peabody, and several nieces. He was the brother of the late Paula Todd.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited.

JAWORSKI, SOPHIE C.

JAWORSKI, SOPHIE C. - 97, died early Sunday morning at a local nursing facility.

Born on March 20, 1908 in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (Zendarska) Jaworski. She was raised in Salem but the majority of her life she was a resident of Danvers. Sophie had been employed at the former Ideal Baby Shoe Factory in Danvers for many years. She also was a communicant of the former St. Josephs Church in Peabody and the St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers.

She is survived by three sisters; Stella LePage of Danvers, Isabelle Murphy of Danvers and Eleanor Simpson of North Andover, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Edmund Jaworski.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Wed. in the St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial in St. Marys Cemetery, Salem. Vst. Hrs. are Tues. from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited.
