CHASE, CHARLES R. -- Charles R. Chase, 81, died Tuesday morning at his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Durgin) Chase, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody on September 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Clarence and Alice (Amor) Chase. He was a Danvers resident for most of his life.
Mr. Chase was an honorably discharged veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps; and was a life member of Charles Davis VFW Post #2359.
An employ of the Town of Danvers for 25 years, Charlie retired as working foreman of the Building Maintenance Division. He had previously worked as a leather worker at Superior Hat Leather in Beverly.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children and their spouses: Richard and Charlene Chase of Danvers, and Kathryn and Michael Lee of NH; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters: Leo, Francis, and James Chase and Jean Howe.
His Funeral Service will be Friday at 11AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 3-6PM at the funeral home. Donations in Charlies memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA, 22038.

INNIS, ELIZABETH G. -- Elizabeth G. (Mannix) Innis, 92, died Friday afternoon at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Innis.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Curtain) Innis. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Mrs. Innis had been a Danvers resident for over seventy years.
Mrs. Innis owned the construction company started by her late husband, Donald F. Innis, Inc., and I & I Realty Trust. Dedicated to her work, she also enjoyed spending time with her family and dedicated caretakers.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Virginia (Wendell) Innis of Danvers, two grandchildren, Cheryl Innis of Somers, CT and Donald Innis III of Danvers, two great-grandchildren, Donald Innis IV and Caitlin Innis, both of FL, a sister, Rita Grimes of FL, and two special caregivers, Kris Berry-Hurton and Sharon Kenneally. She was predeceased by her son, Donald F. Innis, Jr., and several brothers and sisters.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Funeral Services will be private with burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.

WILLIAMS, ALICE E. -- Alice E. (Duchene) Williams, 96, died early Thursday morning, April 27, 2006, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Stanley R. Williams.
Born in Salem on December 6, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Albertine (Audet) Duchene. Displaced by the Salem Fire of 1914 to Peabody, she then lost her mother in childbirth at a young age. She attended St. Johns Elementary School and Peabody High School, and then attended the Boston School of Art. After her marriage, she lived in Lynn and briefly in Connecticut before moving to Danvers, where she made her home for over sixty years. Due to failing health, she was staying with her daughter and granddaughter at the time of her death.
As a young woman, she worked as a magazine illustrator. For many years, Alice painted portraits of local residents and their families. She was also known by many for her doll-making and teddy bears. Alice worked briefly for several local restaurants before settling into her job at the Richmond Junior High School where she remained for over 20 years until her retirement in 1980. Alice also loved horses and horseback riding. In her later years, her favorite pastime was searching flea markets and yard sales for small collectibles and antique dolls.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Corrine Peruffo of Salem, her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Lou LaBonte of Salem, her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley David and Pat Williams of Sebring, FL, her daughter-in-law, Beverly (Earle) Williams of Danversnine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved sons, Robert and Edwin Ted Williams, and her sister, Rose Thompson.
Her Funeral Service will be Monday at 1PM in the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan Street, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in her memory may be made to the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

HULTGREN, SANDRA LEE Sandra Lee Hultgren, 54, formerly of Danvers, died Tuesday morning at Beverly Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Beverly on May 26, 1951, she was the daughter of Harry F. Hultgren of FL and Sylvia (Wilkins) (Hultgren) Shepherd of Peabody. She was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School in 1969. She was employed by the Danvers State Hospital for over 18 years as an orderly. She enjoyed horses and in younger years was an avid equestrian. She was a dedicated mother and a real people person.
Besides her parents, she is survived by a son Jesse Hultgren, a brother, Stephen Hultgren of Salem, a step-brother Donny Shepherd of NH and many aunts and uncles.
Sandra's family will be receiving friends and relatives on Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm-3:00pm at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.

MURPHY, EDWARD G. -- Edward G. Murphy, 62, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Linda (Goodman) Murphy.
Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Edward and Jeanne (Sparks) Murphy. He was raised and educated in Danvers, attending Danvers Public Schools. He also attended Wentworth Institute.
Mr. Murphy worked as a pipefitter, and was the owner and operator of Essex County Heating & Piping.
He was an avid skier who loved the mountains and being with family. The great joy of his life in recent years was spending time with his grandson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and James Uzdarwin of Ipswich; a grandson, Ethan Uzdarwin of Ipswich; a brother, Peter Murphy of Bolton, three sisters: Jeanne Soucy of Concord, Anne Murphy of Concord, and Mary Parco of Rockport; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be Thursday at 10AM in St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Natl. Alliance of the Mentally Ill Walk for the Mind, 8 Applecart Rd., Rockport, MA 01966.

KEANE, CECILIA R. -- Cecilia Bubs Ruby (Dry) Keane, 83, died Sat. April 22, 2006 following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Dr.Geoffrey P. Keane.
Born in Ocean Springs, MS on Sept. 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (OSullivan) Dry. She was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School in 1940. Mrs. Keane was also a graduate of the Salem Hospital School of Nursing. She attended a post graduate program in maternity prior to beginning her tenor at Salem Hospital. Mrs. Keane was head nurse of the nurseries at Salem Hospital.
Mrs. Keane was an active member of the St. Mary of the Annunciation Church. She had been a Prefect of Our Ladies of Sodality. She also co-chaired the churchs Centennial Celebration and she authored St. Mary of the Annunciation Church- A Brief History.
Following her marriage Mrs. Keane was dedicated to her family and community and was involved in numerous volunteer activities which utilized her nursing skills including; the American Red Cross Blood Mobiles, the VNA Senior Health Clinic, Member of the Salem Hospital Aide Assoc., and she was one of the initial member of the Danvers Council on Aging. She also enjoyed gardening, crafts and studying the Salem Witch Craft Trials. She used her knowledge of the trials by guiding tours at the Rebecca Nurse House in Danvers.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Stephen Keane and Elaine Light of Salisbury, two daughters and a son-in-law; Patricia Keane of Danvers and Terry and Ed Niland of Danvers, three grandchildren; Cathy Niland, Tanya Stanley-Keane and Fiona Keane. She was predeceased by a sister Winifred E. Dry.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Weds. April 26, 2006 at 11:00AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial to follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Vst. hrs are Tues. 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. WILDE, JEAN L. -- Jean L. (Lamoreaux) Wilde, 81, died late Monday evening, April 24, 2006 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. She shared 52 years of marriage with her late husband, Samuel M. Wilde, Sr., who died in June of 2005.
Born in Taunton on Jan. 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Ann Lamoreaux. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, and was a graduate of St. Marys High School in Taunton. She was a Beverly resident for most of her adult life and raised her family there.
Mrs. Wilde was employed as a registered nurse for many years at the former Hunt Memorial Hospital and the Hunt Nursing Home, both in Danvers.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Samuel M. Wilde Jr. and his wife Heidi of Billerica, Carrie A. Vargas and her husband Francisco of Danvers, Paula J. Whitlock of Concord, NH, and Deborah J. Wilde of Danvers; her grandchildren: Lindsay, Steven, and Jake Wilde, Samantha, Maryjean, and Frankie Vargas, and Tonya and Ashley Whitlock; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her bothers and sisters: John, Mary, Clara, Anna, Madeline, and Alice.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, New Balch St., Beverly. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. MELLO, JOSEPH F., SR. -- Joseph F. Mello, Sr., 77, a longtime Danvers resident, died suddenly on Monday, April 17, 2006 at his home in North Port, FL. He was the husband of Nancy (Weaver) Mello and the late Mary (Fahey) Mello.
Born in Peabody on June 25, 1928, he was the youngest son of the late Luis C. and Mary (Nunes) Mello. He was raised and educated in Peabody, graduate from Peabody High School, and moved to Danvers in 1948. Mr. Mello served in the U.S. Navy submarine service during WWII and the Korean War, stationed in Salem and Key West.
For many years, Mr. Mello was employed at GTE Sylvania in the Loring Ave., Salem plant. He was a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
President of the Mass. Beekeepers Association, Mr. Mello ran the beekeeping exhibits at the Topsfield Fair for many years. He was a former Danvers Town Meeting Member and a member of the Mens Association Group at St. Nathaniels Church in North Port, FL. He was an avid gardener.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: Joseph F. Mello Jr. and his wife Gretchen of Ipswich, James Mello of Ipswich, and Robert Mello and his wife Debra of Springvale, ME; a daughter, Elizabeth Mello of Kingston, NH; four stepchildren and their spouses: Scott and Stephanie Weaver of Newburyport, Philip and Carlene Weaver of Topsfield, Cynthia and Benedict Celso of Topsfield, and Kimberly and Paul Silber of Beverly; 18 grandchildren: Joseph F. III, William, Cynthia, Michael, and Chad Mello, Anthony Spinhirn, Samantha, Teddy, Hannah, Kelly, Isabella, Molly, Sophie, and Max Weaver, and John, Christopher, Nicholas, and Benny Celso; four great-grandchildren: Christina, Mollie, Zachary, and Alexandra Mello; his mother-in-law, Mary Fahey of Lynn; his sister-in-law, Maria Mello; and five generations of nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alice Silva and George and Arthur Mello.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 24, 2006 at 10AM in St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. BARRY, RUTH M. -- Ruth M. Barry, 81, died Monday at the Radius Healthcare Center in Danvers following a lengthy illness.
Born in Atlantic City, NJ, on January 27, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Moore) Barry. Raised and educated in Danvers, she was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1942. She also resided in Beverly for many years.
Miss Barry was employed as a secretary for the U.S. government. During her career she worked for the Army, Navy, and Air Force in Germany, Washington D.C., and India.
She is survived by two brothers: James Barry and his wife Kathleen of Fitchburg, and George Barry and his wife Marie of Beverly; four sisters: Catherine Barry of Beverly, Rose Anne Merrill of Worcester, Jane Dippo and her husband Frank of Newton Upper Falls, and Therese Richards and her husband John of Hamilton; a brother-in-law, Russell Stevens of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita Stevens.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 1-4PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.

HEGARTY, Bro. MICHAEL, CFX -- Brother Michael Joseph Hegarty, C.F.X., a member of the Congregation of Xaverian Brothers for seventy years, died on April 10 at age eighty-seven after an extended illness at the Heritage Healthcare Center in Venice, FL.
The son of the late Cornelius Hegarty and Margaret Lordan Hegarty, Cornelis Hegarty was born in Somerville, MA, on September 10, 1918. After attending the St. Joseph Juniorate in Peabody, MA, he entered the Xaverian Brothers in 1936 and received the religious name Michael Joseph. In 1939 Brother began a fifty-seven year apostolic career which would take him to Holy Name School in Brooklyn, NY; Leonard Hall School in Leonardtown, MD; John Bapst High School in Bangor, ME; Bishop Flaget and St. Xavier High Schools in Louisville, Kentucky; and Mission High School in Roxbury, MA. For thirty-seven years he labored on the Brothers overseas missions, teaching at Mumias Secondary School, Kitale Teachers College, and Eregi Teachers College, all in Kenya, East Africa. For fifteen years Brother Michael Joseph was the Director of St. Martins House, a guest residence for missionary workers in Kitale. He also served for a time as Regional Superior of the Brothers schools and missions in Kenya. In 1997 Brother joined the Xaverian retirement community in Venice, Florida.
Receiving a Ph.B. from Loyola College in Baltimore and a MS in Education from St. Johns University, Brother Michael Joseph was a tireless and devoted worker as well as a great community man. He was preceded in death by his brother John Hegarty and sister Eleanor Carroll. He is survived by his brother Frank Hegarty and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of the administration building at St. Johns Preparatory School in Danvers on Friday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. A one-hour wake from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. will precede the funeral liturgy. Burial will follow in the Xaverian Brothers cemetery on the Prep campus. Arrangements are under the direction of C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, Danvers Square.
