NANCY DEVINE

A funeral Mass was said Friday, April 4, 2003 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree for Nancy C. (Fitzgerald) Devine, formerly of South Boston. She was the wife of Thomas Devine; the mother of Kathleen Steininger of New Mexico, Nancy Devine of Rockland, Thomas Devine of FL, Susan Ryan of Weymouth and the late Joseph Devine; the sister of Priscilla Walsh of Canton, Malcolm Fitzgerald of Bellingham and the late Virginia Keaney; the grandmother of Jonathan Gray, Jessica Gray, Colleen Ryan and John Ryan and the daughter of the late Malcolm and Beatrice (Gerbick) Fitzgerald.

JAMES FLAHERTY

A funeral Mass was said Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in St. Francis of Assisi Church South Braintree for James Francis Flaherty, formerly of South Boston. He was the brother of Jean M. Lank of Braintree, John M. Flaherty, Jr. of Quincy, Joan E. Ridge of Abington, Robert J. Flaherty of Quincy, Patricia Navis of Quincy, Mary T. McDonald of Brookline, Sheila A. Denn of Braintree and the late Doris Leva, formerly of Billerica and the late Richard Flaherty, formerly of Quincy; the son of the late John Martin Flaherty and Agnes Theresa (Hennessey) Flaherty, formerly of South Boston and the lifelong companion of Joe Crowley of Brookline, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves 39 nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and grandnephews.

HELEN GIERS

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday, April 12, 2003 in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church for Helen T. Giers. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Majk) and Julian Giers; the sister of the late Bernard, Frances, Ignatius, Mary (Giers) Radziewicz and William Giers; the aunt of John Radziewicz, Mary (Giers) O'Brien, Patricia (Giers) Robertson, Marianne Radziewicz, Donna (Giers) Easing-wood, Elaine, Stephen and Robert Giers, Kathy Barbaro and the late William Giers, Helen Radziewicz, and Richard Giers and the sister-in-law of Marie Giers. She also leaves 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.

LEO KNIGHT

A funeral Mass was said Monday, April 7, 2003 in St. Margaret's Church for Leo J. Knight. He was the husband of the late Mary (MacDougall) Knight; the father of Joan Uniacke of Stoughton; the brother of the late John and James Knight; the grandfather of Kathy Derochea, Karen DiStefano, Kristine Uniacke, all of Stoughton and the late Tom Uniacke and the great grandfather of Nicholas, Trevor, Kasey, Alexa and Andrew.

PHYLLIS LEAHY

Private funeral services were held for Phyllis R. (Queen) Leahy, formerly of South Boston. She was the wife of Robert K. Leahy; the mother of Robert E. of Hanson, Joyce M. Dennehy of Pembroke, Richard of Naples, FL, James K. of Braintree, John J. of Weymouth and Kathleen C. Lydon of Weymouth and the sister of Lillian O'Brien of Braintree, the late Margaret Sullivan, Charlotte Penny, Ethel Lindberg, Joyce Fontaine and William Queen. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

MARY MCDONOUGH

A funeral Mass was said Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in St. Augustine's Church for Mary A. (Greene) McDonough. She was the wife of the late John J. McDonough; the mother of John J. of Tyngsboro and the late Maryanne McDonough and the sister of Margaret Keenan of South Boston, Barbara Eveland of WI, Kay Joyce of Wollaston and the late Agnes Greene, John Greene and Ann Foley. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

HELEN NORTON

A Mass of Christian Burial was said Tuesday, April 2, 2003 in St. Francis of Assissi Church, NY for Helen G. (Oglesby) Norton, formerly of South Boston. She was the mother of Anne Martinelli and her husband Lawrence of NY; the sister of the late Mary Oglesby and Elizabeth Conroy; the grandmother of Jeffrey Martinelli and Lori Hall; the great grandmother of Tyler, Brendan and Meghan and the aunt of Thomas, William and Robert Conroy.

EDWARD O'DONNELL

A funeral Mass was said Friday, April 4, 2003 in St. Ann's Church, Raynham for Edward J. O'Donnell, formerly of South Boston. He was the husband of Christine A. (Runey) O'Donnell; the father of Allie C. O'Donnell of Bridgewater and the brother of John B. Jack O'Donnell of Quincy, Lillian Camic and Margaret Snyder both of Gulfport, Fl. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

MARY SHIPPEE

A funeral Mass was said Monday, April 7, 2003 in St. Brigid's Church for Mary E. (Stokinger) Shippee. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Shippee; the mother of Joan M. and her husband Francis Dean and Eileen M. and her husband Joseph McGrath, B.F.D. all of South Boston; the sister of Louisa Flynn of Scituate, Gertrude Keefe of Quincy and the late William, John, George, James and Charles Stokinger and the grandmother of Joan Davis, Thomas and James Holmes, Nancy Dean, MaryJo Martin, Katherine and Joseph McGrath. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friiday, April 4, 2003 for Mahlon J. Tower Jr., formerly of South Boston. He was the husband of Catherine P. (Martin); the father of Kathleen Gamache of Framingham, Susan Schiffler and her husband Guy of OR, Nancy Simpson and her husband Bryan of VA, Diane Tower, Marianne Tower, Mahlon Joe (Tower) III, Linda Boulanger, Rick Starr all of Hudson; the grandfather of Sarah Tower, Angela and Rebecca Gamache, John Azevedo Jr., Suzanne and Randall Schiffler, Daniel and Deanna Eserpanza, Michael Simpson and Joseph Mahlon Tower and Kayla and Barry BoulangerJr and the brother of Charles Tower and his wife Barbara od Abington and the late James, Mahlon, George, Margaret, William and Ada.

ESTHER YOURELL

A funeral Mass was said Thursday, April 3, 2003 in the Chapel of the Marian Manor for Esther M. Yourell. She was the daughter of the late Henrietta and Lawrence Yourell; the sister of Christina McKeon of Rockland and the late Mary Conley and the aunt of Matthew and Bonnie McKeon and Carole and George McGunagle. She also leaves 2 grandnieces and 2 grand-nephews.

He was the former husband of Joan (Buckley) Carty of Quincy; the father of Debbie O'Donnell of Onset, Tricia Peterson of Holbrook, Doug and Michael Carty both of W. Bridgewater and Bill Carty of Brockton and the brother of Edward Carty of E. Petersburg, PA, Donald Carty of Manchester, NH and Mary LeBlanc of Randolph, MA. He also leaves 11 grandchildren.

IRENE CURRAN

A funeral Mass was said Monday, June 16, 2003 in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth for Irene L. (LaMare) Curran, formerly of South Boston. She was the wife of the late John L. Curran; the mother of Gary P. Curran of South Boston, William L. Curran of FL, Joan Howlett of Quincy, Donna Merlino of Weymouth and the late John L. Curran of Jamaica Plain and the late Patricia Baldasare of Scituate and the grandmother of the late Robert Howlett of Quincy and the late Lory Hawkes of Scituate. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

Ferent of Naples, ME and Joanne Norton of S. Easton, MA; the sister of Geraldine Dunlap and Anna O'Donnell both of South Boston and the grandmother of Holly Ann Ferent of Dayton, OH and Edward and Zachary Norton both of S. Easton. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Norton, Jr.; the brother of Patricia Jacobs of Alaska, David Norton and his wife Florence of South Boston and the late James Norton; the uncle of Jack Mackie of Weymouth and David Norton Jr. of Brighton and the great uncle of Devin and Jack Mackie Jr. both of Weymouth.
