HILDA M. (GRONDINE) BOYLE
November 23, 1911 - May 11, 2007

WORCESTER - Hilda M. (Grondine) Boyle, 95, of 20 Mary Scano Drive, formerly of Rhode Island, died Friday in UMass Memorial Medical Center, 119 Belmont Street, after an illness.
Her husband, Colin M. Boyle Jr, died in 1991
She is survived by her son, Craig C. Boyle, and his wife Elizabeth, and 2 grandchildren; Garrett and Alyssa, all of Auburn.
Other members of her family include; several nieces and nephews and a sister in law, Margaret Dwyer, of Lincoln, RI
She was born in W. Brookfield, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Christianna (Savoie) Grondine; she was educated in Taunton Schools.
Mrs. Boyle worked for the Cranston School system for many years; she had previously worked in area textile mills.
She was the loving matriarch for her family. She was a noted cook, and loved to prepare meals for her family. In earlier years she loved to make quilts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn.
Her funeral will be held from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, RI

John George Brakton
August 17, 1928 - January 23, 2007

MILLBURY, MA - John G. Bratkon, 78, of Main St. and formerly of Worcester and Auburn, died Tuesday, Jan. 23rd in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves his daughter, Deborah Bratkon of Worcester; two sons, Vince Bratkon of Worcester and Thomas Bratkon of Holden; his brother, Alexander Bratkon of Leominster; his sister, Pauline Bratkon-McGee of Westborough; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Mona Mancini.

He was born in Hudson, son of the late George and Mary Bratkon and lived in Auburn and Worcester before moving to Millbury.

He was an US Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Bratkon worked as a cook for Harry's Restaurant in Westborough for 28 years before retiring.

John Bresnahan
March 1, 1944 - April 8, 2007

SHREWSBURY - John Bresnahan, 63, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Sunday, April 8th at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, surrounded by his family after complication from a long illness.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Joellyn (Schmitt) Bresnahan; his three children, Craig J. Bresnahan of Boston, Jon Todd Bresnahan and his fianc Katrina Kreismanis of Boston, Kerri Lovell and her husband, Jason of San Diego, CA and a grandson, Braden Jon Lovell; he is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Riel) Bresnahan of Shrewsbury; a bother, Arthur J. Bresnahan, Jr. of Dennis and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bresnahan was born in Worcester, son of the late Arthur J. Bresnahan, Sr. and has resided in Shrewsbury since the age of 5. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1962, where he was recently named a member of the 1960's "Football Team of the Decade". John later graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served with the Eighth Army Advanced Marksmanship Unit.

John was well known and respected throughout the banking and leasing industry. He contributed greatly to the success of Chancellor Corporation where he was Executive Vice President of Syndication. John was also instrumental in the filing and funding for their initial public offering in the early 1980's.

While a member of Mt. Pleasant Country Club, he enjoyed golfing and entertaining friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John's family on Wednesday, April 11th from 4-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12th at 11 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. DOROTHY M. BRISSON
November 20, 1916 - December 23, 2005

SHREWSBURY - Dorothy M. "Dot" (Faucher) Brisson, 89, of 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury and Ft. Myers, Florida died Friday, December 23rd in The Christopher House surrounded by her family.

Her husband of 55 years, Stanley C. Brisson died in 1995. She leaves three sons and their wives, Robert A. and Elsa Brisson of California, David P. and Mary Lou Brisson of Shrewsbury, Stephan A. and Diane Brisson of Millbury; a sister, Grace Cashen of Billerica also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Faucher.

Mrs. Brisson was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Ernest J. and Margaret A. (Smith) Faucher and had lived in Shrewsbury most of her life. She had worked for the former State Mutual Insurance Company in Worcester for several years before she retired in 1985. After her retirement, Dot had moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, for11 years, before moving back to the Worcester area in 1996.

She was a member of Saint Anne's Parish and the Senior Center, both in Shrewsbury. Dot had several hobbies, including cooking, playing cards with her friends and doing ceramics when she lived in Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dot's family on Tuesday, December 27th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28th at 10 A.M. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the National Autism Association, P.O. Box 347 Portsmouth, R.I. 02871.

Donald N. Brockett
November 28, 1927 - June 2, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Donald N. Brockett, 78, of Lenox Drive, Shrewsbury, passed away Friday, June 2 at UMASS-Memorial Hospital.

Born on November 28, 1927 in New Haven, CT, Don was the oldest child of Nelson Bishop and Mildred Bassett Brockett. He spent his youth in North Haven, CT, and upon graduation from Hillhouse High School, joined the US Navy, serving two tours of duty during WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1954 and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

Upon graduation, he worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the former Billing Spencer Co. of Hartford before going to work as a sales engineer for the Wyman-Gordon Company.

Don was an avid reader who loved golf, sailing, fishing, music, his grandchildren and life in general- He will be remembered for his wit and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis (Walford) Brockett; two sons and Daughters-in-law, David and Dawn Brockett of Manchester, NH, and Peter and Laura Brockett of Randolph, NH; a daughter, Elizabeth Brockett of Dover. NH, a brother, David F. Brockett, of Anaheim, CA; sisters Elizabeth Meyer of Versailles, KY and Joan Goodwill of Ballston Lake, NY; and grandchildren Ian and Emily Brockett of Raleigh, NC, Christopher and Sarah Brockett of Randolph, NH, and Megan Brockett of Manchester, NH.

Calling hours will be Friday June 9, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd., Shrewsbury. Burial will be private.

Steven E. Brown

Melville, NY - Steven E. Brown, 50, formerly of Auburn, died suddenly on October 27, 2006.

He is survived and will be missed by his wife Cinda Young of Taunton; his beloved daughter Jenna M. Brown and her mother Diane (Glidden) Brown of Auburn; his beloved son Daniel S. Brown and his wife Crystal (Carvotta) Brown of Arlington; his parents Joan and Bruce Brown of Sandwich; his brother Keith Brown and partner Robert Scalia of Arlington; his sister Laura (Brown) DiGravio and her husband David DiGravio of Sandwich; his brother Eric Brown and wife Lynn (Armit) Brown of Arlington. He is also survived by his nephew Neale Brown and niece Allison Brown of Arlington, and his stepdaughter Carrie Pleutus, and his step grandson Chase Kinney both of Maine. He also leaves his stepson, Joel Murray and his wife Danielle of Worcester.

Steven graduated from Auburn High School in 1974. He was also a graduate of Nowles National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming. He worked as a land surveyor on many major projects such as the New Boston Garden, the Ted Williams Tunnel, and most recently about to start working on the site of the World Trade Center in New York. Steven had a keen sense of humor, a quick wit, and lived a full and fulfilled, life. He was passionate about his children, music, art, and the outdoors. He always knew just how many angstroms were in an inch.

Calling hours will be at the Britton Wallace Funeral Home, Central Street Auburn on Saturday November 4th from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a memorial service to follow.

JOANNE E. (LAWTON) BRUEGGEMANN
April 12, 1932 - September 8, 2006

SHREWSBURY - JoAnne E. (Lawton) Brueggemann, 74, of Brookway Dr., died peacefully at home Friday, September 8th of esophageal cancer.

She leaves her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth P. Brueggemann; her four children, Kenneth M. Brueggemann and his wife Susan Phillips of North Grafton, Shelley Ann Brueggemann of Shrewsbury, Gary R. Brueggemann and his wife Marguerite "Meg" of Holden, and Paul F. Brueggemann and his wife Janine of Shrewsbury.; her nine grandchildren, Rebecca Phillips, Rachael Phillips-Tibbetts, Kristina Monahan, Morgan Phillips, Shelley and Erin Brueggemann, Melissa Nason, Michael Yazhari, and Joshua Yazhari; her five great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law and her husband, Mary Lou and Christos Ganas; as well a niece and a nephew, Suzanne and Matthew Ganas

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Robert E. and Marie (Rano) Lawton and was raised in Millbury. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1950. Along with raising her family, "Mrs. B" as she was affectionately known by many, worked for several years as an aide at the Lutheran and Shrewsbury Nursing Homes. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury, enjoyed gardening & flowers, and especially loved her pets. Her gregarious and thoughtfully concerned personality was a gift to her family, many friends, and neighbors and even strangers around her. JoAnne's family wishes to extend their hearfelt thanks to the staff of the UMass Memorial Hospice Program for all of the love and care exteded to JoAnne during her illness. "May she rest in peace and sleep in God's love until we meet again."

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, September 11th from 5-8 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 12th at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, followed by entombment in the Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Center, 10 Brookline Pl., 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.

JANET I. (GOODNEY) BRUNELL
July 14, 1930 - September 10, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Janet I. (Goodney) Brunell, 77, of Auburn, died Saturday, September 8th in Saint Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

Her husband, Donald P. Brunell died in 1953. She is survived by a daughter, Linda J. Sarkisian and her husband, William of Auburn; two sisters, Lillian Clifford of Charlton; Marylin Laramie of Ansley, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Angela and Megan Sarkisian; a great granddaughter, Alyssa M. Sarkisian; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Walter Goodney; three sisters, Lorraine Martin, Shirley Preston, June Goodney and her companion of 40 years, Bernard Toungny.

Mrs. Brunell was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Walter R. and Irene A. (Miller) Goodney and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. In 1982, she had moved to Florida, after living there for18 years she decided to move back to Massachusetts to be near her daughter and her family.

Janet was an accomplished dressmaker and seamstress, she also enjoyed Ballroom and Square Dancing.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Janet's family on Thursday, September 13th from 5-7 P.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Funeral services for Janet will follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private at a late date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts Street, Suite 450, Newton, MA 02458-1287.

Gerald M. Brunelle
September 21, 1927 - February 27, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Gerald M. "Jerry" Brunelle, 79, of Lesley Avenue, died Tuesday, February 27th in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Barbara M. (Houle) Brunelle; a sister, Claire T. Regonini of Worcester, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers George, Paul I, Robert, Paul II and Leo Brunelle, and his sister Rita M. Kane. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Armand J. and Aurea (Cloutier) Brunelle and has lived in Auburn for many years. He attended Worcester schools, and prior to graduation, Jerry enlisted in the US Marine Corps to serve during World War II.

Prior to his retirement in 1990, Mr. Brunelle worked as a conductor for Amtrak. He previously worked for the former Boston & Maine Railroad as well as several Worcester manufacturing companies.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish, Auburn. He loved tending to his gardening and outdoor space. He was also and avid woodworker.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 2nd from 4-7 PM in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held on Saturday from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Flowers may be sent or donations made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Edith Mae Brunelle
July 9, 1917 - August 6, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Edith M. (Adshead) Brunelle, 90, of Auburn and South Dennis, died Monday, August 6th in Holy Trinity Orthodox Nursing Home, Worcester after an illness.

Her husband, Robert A. Brunelle, Sr. died in 1990. She is survived by two sons, Robert A. Brunelle, Jr. of Vero Beach, Florida and Daniel E. Brunelle of Worcester; two daughters, Marcia J. Ofcarcik of Auburn and Paula M. Brunelle of Studio City, California; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Adshead.

Mrs. Brunelle was born in Auburn, daughter of the late Ernest Adshead, Jr., and Mary Alice (Murray) Adshead and had lived many years in Auburn and 8 years in South Dennis. She moved back to Auburn after her husband's death in 1990 to be surrounded by her family.

Edith graduated from South High School in Worcester and then later in life enrolled in the Nursing Program at David Hale Fanning Trade School. She worked for 12 years as an L.P.N. at the former Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester before retiring.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Edith's family on Thursday, August 9th from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will follow with a Mass celebrated at 11 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Frances (Ferrara) Bruno
October 24, 1910 - December 31, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Frances (Ferrara) Bruno, 96, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Medford, died Sunday, December 31st in the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehab. Center.

Her husband, Patrick W. Bruno died in 1966. She was also predeceased by her son, Paul A. Bruno of Medford.

She leaves her daughters, Rosemary Kearney of Malden and Elaine T. Ganger and her husband James of Shrewsbury; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Bruno of Maine; her sister-in-law, Josephine Ferrara of Medford; her nine grandchildren, Michael Kearney and his wife Terry, Theresa Toma and her husband Gerson, Mark Kearney and his wife Sharon, Denise Vivolo and her husband Carmine, Stephen Bruno and his wife Kelly, David Bruno, Kris Bruno and his wife Michele, Michele Ganger, and Brian Ganger and his wife Kimberly; her 13 great grandchildren, Amanda, Paige, Hayley, Tamara, Caitlin, Michael, Matthew, Joseph, Gianna, Jillian, Cameron, Arianna, and Alexis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Casana, Lauropoli, Italy, daughter of the late Luigi and Antonette (Branca) Ferrara and lived many years in Medford before moving to Shrewsbury 25 years ago.

Mrs. Bruno had worked as a teller for the Atlantic Bank in Chelsea for many years. She was an officer and active member of the Shrewsbury Senior Center and was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Shrewsbury and a former member of Saint Raphael Parish Medford.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5 8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4th at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hackett Lawn Section, Medford at 1 PM Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.

RUTH V. (SCHONBORG) BRYANT
September 18, 1919 - February 19, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Ruth V. (Schonborg) Bryant, 87, of 36 North Quinsigamond Avenue, formerly of Oak Street, Shrewsbury, died Monday, February 19th in UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester after an illness.

Ruth's husband, Dana C. Bryant died in 1990. She is survived by her children, Alan D. and his wife, Janine A. Bryant of Feeding Hills, MA and Jean R. Rowett of Ashville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, M. Keith Rowett, Jeffrey A. Bryant and Jason J. Bryant and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, George, Robert and Ralph and one sister, Rose Harris.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Axel and Olga (Anderson) Schonborg and was a life long resident of Shrewsbury. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School.

Ruth had enjoyed her work for over 20 years in the Cafeteria's of the Shrewsbury Public Schools before she retired. She was an active and faithful member of Lakeview Congregational Church in Worcester.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Friday, February 23rd at 11 AM in the Lakeview Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Avenue, Worcester. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Lakeview Congregational Church, General Fund, 115 Coburn Avenue, Worcester. MA 01604.
