Thomas R. Carlin
April 10, 1926 - January 14, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Thomas R. Carlin, 80, of Prospect St., and formerly of Westborough and Boylston, died Sunday, January 14th in the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Christine M. (Gasek) Carlin; his four children, Cheryl Dunn wife of William of Marshfield, Thomas R. Carlin, Jr. and his wife Marylou of Thomasville, NC, Stephen M. Carlin and his wife Paula of Shrewsbury, and Beth Carlin of Jacksonville, FL; his brother, Robert Carlin and his wife Ruth of Orlando, FL; and his two grandchildren, Courtney Dunn and Sara Carlin. He was predeceased by his sister, Lenore Engwall.

He was born in New Britain, CT son of the late John R. and Elizabeth (Pilarski) Carlin and lived many years in Westborough, Boylston before moving to Shrewsbury. He graduated from The Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi. He received his MBA from Boston University in 1958.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Carlin retired in 1988 from 39 years of service to the Wyman-Gordon Co., where he was manager of General Purchases and Project Engineering.

He was a longtime member of the Westborough Country Club. He was a former member of the Westborough Planning Board and served on building committee for the construction of Westborough High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury on Thursday, January 18th from 5-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19th at 11 AM in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 Main St., Shrewsbury.

DOROTHEA A. CARLSON
August 26, 1916 - January 1, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Dorothea A. (Dion) Carlson, 90, a former resident of Southgate at Shrewsbury and of South Oxford St., Auburn, died Monday, Jan. 1st in the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

Her husband, Bertel E. Carlson died in 1989.

She leaves her three children, David Carlson and his wife Nancy of Sutton, Judith Shea and her husband George of Scquim, WA, and Elizabeth Vigeant and her husband George of Pocasset; her sister, Mary Hendrickson of Worcester; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Philip and Julia M. (Hearn) Dion and lived in Auburn for many years. She later lived in Cape Cod and then in Shrewsbury for the past several years.

Mrs. Carlson worked as file clerk for Guarantee Bank and Trust Company, Worcester for several years.

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Parish in Auburn and its former Women's League.

Dorothea's family will visit with relatives and friends on Saturday, Jan. 6th from 9-10:30 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund of Dana Farber Cancer Inst., 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.

JOHN W. CARLSON
January 10, 1925 - February 28, 2007

WORCESTER - John W. Carlson, 82, of Worcester, died Wednesday in his home after an illness.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Kimball) Carlson, of Worcester, his daughter Carole Earl and her husband John, of Tampa, FL, her brother Curtis Carlson, and his wife Glennis, of Nashua, and 4 loving grandchildren and 6 loving great grandchildren. Predeceased members of his family include; a brother Robert Carlson, and a sister Shirley Corridori.
He was born in Worcester, the son of the late William and Carolyn (Mayo) Carlson; he was educated in Worcester schools.
He worked as a machinist for Heald Machine and Cincinnati Milacron in Worcester for many years.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Nordic Lodge, and he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
His funeral will be held Saturday with a service at 11:00 AM in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Ave, Auburn. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.

Roy S. "Pa" Carpenter
May 22, 1929 - June 28, 2006

Roy S. "Pa" Carpenter, Sr., 77, of Oxford, died Wednesday, June 28th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara J. (Townsend); his three children: Linda J. Castagnaro of Montana, Bonnie J., wife of Paul Allen of Florida, and Roy S. "Butch" Carpenter, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Worcester; his brother, Russell Carpenter of Auburn; his sister, Olive Aldrich of Upton; his six grandchildren: Jason Godfrey and his wife Pamela Perdue, Tamara Castagnaro, Jodi, wife of Geno Mongeon, Pichard Paul Castagnaro, Jr., Haley T. and Ashley Carpenter; his five great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, William Hastings. He was born in Upton, son of the late Fred C. and Marion M. (Congdon) Carpenter and was raised in Auburn. He graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester. Mr. Carpenter retired 9 years ago from Thermo Electron in Auburn, where he worked for 10 years. Previously, he worked for the John Bath Compay, Worcester. He was a member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks and the Charlton Beagle Club. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a New England sports team fan. Roy was drafted as a 16 year old by the Boston Red Sox.

Marion E. Carroll
MAY 16, 1912 - APRIL 29, 2007

WORCESTER - Marion E. Carroll, 94, of Worcester, formerly of Lowell, died Sunday in St. Francis Home, after an illness.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Marion J. Szklarz, of Auburn, her nephew Michael J. Javoronok, of Scottsbluff, NE as well as several nieces and nephews, and a close friend Mary Britt, of Worcester.

Her brothers; E. James Carroll, George Carroll, and sisters; Dorothy Javoronok, and Frances Dana all predeceased her.

She was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late George H. and Margaret J. (McAtee) Carroll, Marion was educated in Lowell, and was a member of the Pioneer Degree Class of the Lowell State Teachers College. She later received her Master's Degree from Boston University where she was elected into its Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society.

Miss Carroll was an educator; teaching grades 3, 5, 6 & 7 at the Forge Village Cameron School, and later the Daley Junior High school in Lowell, where she also worked as a librarian.

She summered for over 50 years on York Beach, Maine; a place she and her family enjoyed immensely.

She was a member of Saint Margaret's Church in Lowell for many years before moving to Worcester, where she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was a member of the Mass Retired Teachers Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday morning from 8:30-9:30 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell.

Everett M. Carter, Sr
August 6, 1918 - January 19, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Everett M. Carter, Sr., 87, of 56 Oak Street, Shrewsbury died on Thursday, January 19th in the Meadows of Leicester after an illness.

His wife, Louise A. (LeBlanc) Carter died in 2003. He leaves a son, Robert H. and his wife, Dawn Civita-Carter of North Grafton; two daughters, Patricia L. and her husband, Richard Robidoux of Rochdale and Cynthia L. Lindholm-Carter of Dudley; a sister Louise W. Jacobson of Leicester; a daughter in law, Monique Carter of Tampa, FL; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Everett M. Carter Jr; a brother, Marshall W. Carter, Jr; and two sisters, Beatrice I. LaPan and Eleanor M. D'Orto.

Mr. Carter was born in Worcester, son of the late Marshall W. Sr. and Martha (Wells) Carter and had lived in Shrewsbury for 63 years. He attended Worcester Schools and then entered the U.S. Army serving in Asiatic Pacific Theater during W. W. II.

Everett had worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for over 40 years at Clark University before he retired in the early 80's. Previously, he had been employed as a Carpenter.

Mr. Carter was a member of the First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. Everett had several hobbies and interests including woodworking and bird watching.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Everett's family on Sunday, January 22nd from 2-6 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 10 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, Church Road, Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society, 414 Massasoit Road, Worcester, MA 01604.

Esther Louise (Ollis) Casey
March 29, 1921 - December 12, 2005

SHREWSBURY - Esther L. (Ollis) Casey, 84, of Main St., died Monday, December 12th in the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Her husband, Richard A. Casey died in 1987.

She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Peter M. and Sherry Casey of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Helen White of Winter Haven, FL and Marietta Foster of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Andrea Casey, Jennifer Belculfine and Justin Casey, and her great granddaughter, Alyssa Casey, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, James R. Casey in 1974. She was also predeceased by her siblings, William H. Olis, Jr., Katherine Hale, Frances O'Donnell and Elizabeth Grimley.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William H. Olis, Sr. and Loda (Brigham) Ollis and lived in Shrewsbury for 56 years.

Prior to her retirement in 1981, Mrs. Casey worked as a route coordinator for the 3M Corporation.

She was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury She also loved to sew, create crafts and dance.

Her funeral will be celebrated on Friday, December 16th from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury with a Mass at 11:30 in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.

Shirley V. (Stearns) Castle
July 31, 1940 - November 22, 2005

Burlington, MA / Temecula, CA - Shirley V. (Stearns) Castle, 65, of Temecula, CA and formerly of Auburn, MA, died Tuesday, in Lahey Clinic after an unfortunate accident. She is survived by her 5 children; Linda V. Nichols of Woodland, CA, Laura L. Zamora of Cottage Grove, OR, Joseph D. Castle and Benedict P. Castle both of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nancy E. Bakker of Waltham, MA. She also leaves a fiance, Donnie Eubank of Temecula, CA. Other family members include her two brothers Ralph Stearns of Bozrah, CT and John Stearns of Auburn, MA, as well as nieces, nephews, and twelve grandchildren. Born in Worcester, daughter of Benedict and Virginia Stearns, she was raised and educated in Auburn, MA. Ms. Castle owned and operated Shirley Castle Enterprises, Inc. and Shirley Castle Properties, Inc. which specialized in real estate investing and property management. Shirley was an extensive world traveler, adventurer, and entrepreneur; she was a loving and caring person who loved to make people laugh.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday from 2 to 5p.m., at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Nov. 28th at 11a.m., at St. Josephs Church, 189 Oxford Street in Auburn. Burial plans are private. MARJORIE ANN (COYLE) CAWLEY
November 10, 1936 - March 22, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Marjorie A. (Coyle) Cawley, 69, of 29 Washington Street, Shrewsbury died Wednesday, March 22nd in UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus after a brief illness.

She leaves her husband of 48 years, James W. Cawley, Sr., three sons, James W. Cawley, Jr., and John E. Cawley both of Shrewsbury and Paul J. Cawley of West Boylston, also survived by two grandchildren, Thomas and Kathryn Cawley and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Mary Elizabeth Barry predeceased her.

Marjorie was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward and Edith (O'Neil) Coyle and had lived in Shrewsbury for 41 years. She was a graduate of St. Stephen's High School and Salter Secretarial School in Worcester.

Mrs. Cawley was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marjorie's family on Friday, March 24th from 11:00- 12:30 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will immediately follow calling hours and be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. FRANCES T. (MULHOLLAND) CELLUCCI
June 26, 1916 - September 26, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Frances J. (Mulholland) Cellucci, 90, a longtime Shrewsbury High School teacher, died Tuesday evening at home.

Her husband of 52 years, Arthur B. Cellucci died in 1993. Her only brother, John J. Mulholland died in 1993.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well several grand nieces and nephews.

She also leaves several dedicated care givers, including Abena Odame.

She was born in Shrewsbury, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary T. (McDonnell) Mulholland and has lived here all of her life. She graduated from Shrewsbury schools and Our Lady of the Elms College, Springfield, Class of 1939.

Mrs. Cellucci retired from the Shrewsbury School Department, where she had worked as a high school teacher for more than 30 years.

She was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 30th from 11-12 Noon at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury for a visitation. A funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 12:30 PM in St, Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

ALBERT J. "AL" CERRONE
May 17, 1925 - July 2, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Albert J. "Al" Cerrone, 82, of Shrewsbury and Delray Beach, Florida died Monday, July 2nd in Christopher House in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Anna M. (Sera) Cerrone; three sons, Alan J. Cerrone and his wife, Linda of Mt. Airy, Maryland, David P. Cerrone and his wife, Judy of Shrewsbury and Paul A. Cerrone and his wife, Mary Grace of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Catherine R. Lemerise of Auburn, Helen J. Tyan of Worcester and Natalie Aspero of Shrewsbury; a brother, Anthony Cerrone of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Tara, Angela, Christopher, Paul Jr., and Daniel; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Hailey; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Breault of Worcester.

Mr. and Mrs. Cerrone celebrated their 59 wedding anniversary on June 6th. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Antonio and Theresa (Martocci) Cerrone and had lived in Shrewsbury for 65 years.

Mr. Cerrone had worked in the Shrewsbury Highway Department for 35 years, retiring in 1988. During the 35 years he served various positions within the Department and retired as the Highway Superintendent, Tree Warden and Pesticide Supervisor. Al served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Wasp in the South Pacific.

He was a member of St. Anne's Church and a former member of the Adelphi Council of the Knights of Columbus # 4181, both in Shrewsbury. Al was also a member of the Massachusetts Highway Association; Worcester County Highway Superintendent's Association; American Public Works Association; Worcester County Tree Warden Association; Worcester County Tree Warden and Foresters Association; Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission; and he was chairman of the Executive Board of the Transportation Planning Advisory Group. He also was a member of the Men's Friends Club at the Shrewsbury Senior Center and the Greendale YMCA Men's Club.

Al loved to play golf, a good game of cards and dominos. His family was his whole world and he will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Al's family on Friday, July 6th from 4-7 p.m. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 7th at 10 A.M. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Anne's Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
