Ernest George Doucette
April 26, 1923 - May 7, 2006

Auburn - Ernest G. Doucette, 83, of 29 Colonial Road, died Sunday, May 7th in his home, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Janet F. (Loiselle) Doucette; his son, Stephen O. Doucette of Shrewsbury; his three daughters, Catherine J. Doucette of Southbridge, Debra M. Doucette of Auburn, and Cindy L., wife of Brian McNamara of Worcester; a brother, Armand Doucette, and his wife Maria of Denver, CO. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Oliver and Robert Doucette.

Ernest was born in Southbridge, a son of the late William and Leah (Lescarbeau) Doucette and was raised in Worcester, where he graduated from Boys' Trade School. He has lived here for many years.

A veteran of two wars, Ernest served during World War II with the US Army as a member of the Infantry. He was awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries received in Italy. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, and served during the Korean War.

Mr. Doucette retired in 1988 from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich, where he had been an instructor for 18 years. Previously, he taught at Bay Path Vocational Technical High School, Charlton. Prior to teaching, Mr. Doucette had worked at the Wyman-Gordon Co. in Worcester.

He was a member of St. Joseph's parish in Auburn. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, and was a past president of the Holiday Ramblers Recreational Vehicle Club.

His funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 10th with a Mass at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial and calling hours will be private.

Wayne J. Douillette
April 10, 1943 - November 13, 2005

Auburn - Wayne Joseph Douillette, 62, of 194 Auburn Street, an inspector, died Sunday in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Aline M. (LaPrade) Douillette, 4 children; Robin Taylor, of Virginia, Crystal Douillette, of Auburn, Darlene Renaud, of Southbridge, and Jim MacDonald, of New Smyrna, FL; a brother, Ronald Douillette, of Pompano Beach, FL; a sister Linda Douillette, of Woonsocket, RI, ; 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
He was born in Auburn son of the late Gerald, and Sarah (Benoit) Douillette, he was educated in Auburn schools.
He was an inspector, in the Super Abrasive department for the Norton Co. for many years. He loved camping, fishing, computers, and most of all his family.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, at 1PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

MILDRED (KORTES) DUBRULE
June 2, 1913 - June 22, 2006

WORCESTER - Mildred (Kortes) Dubrule, 93, of 1050 Main Street, formerly of Auburn, died in Saint Vincent's Hospital, after a short illness.
Her husband Louis N. Dubrule died in 1973 after 35 years of marriage to Mildred.
She leaves her sons; Donald L. Dubrule, of N. Grafton, and Ronald L. Dubrule, of Oxford, four grandchildren; Steven Dubrule, of Holden, Craig Dubrule, of Cary, NC, and Laura Dubrule, of Brooklyn, NY and Michelle Gomez, of Sterling, VA; as well as 5 great grandchildren, and a brother Arthur Kortes, of Rutland.
Predeceased members of her family include; a brother Eino Kortes, and a sister Siria Knott.
Mildred was born in Worcester daughter of the late Alexander and Hilda (Wiita) Kortes; she was a graduate of Worcester Girls Trade School. Mildred worked many years in the retail business, as a sales clerk and as a seamstress until she retired in 1982.
She loved to sew, cook, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mildred was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and the 1050 Club.

MARIE B. (CHAVIS) DUHAMEL
February 2, 1922 - August 28, 2007

LEICESTER - Marie B. (Chavis) DuHamel, 85, a resident of The Meadows of Leicester, and formerly of Auburn died Tuesday, August 28th in the Meadows.

She leaves her six children, Robin D. DuHamel and his wife Mary Jeanne of Sutton, Deborah M. Adam of Minneapolis, MN, Michelle D. George and her husband Gary of Leicester, Claudette K. LeBlanc of Leicester, Jay A. DuHamel of Spencer, and Andre E. DuHamel of Sutton; her sister, Sadie Champagne of Auburn: 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of the late Arthur E. "Duke" DuHamel of Auburn, who died in 2001, and mother-in-law of the late Gary J. LeBlanc.

She was born in Pembroke, NC, daughter of the late Eli and Fannie (Goins) Chavis and was raised in Fairmont, NC. She was a resident of Auburn for more than 60 years.

Mrs. DuHamel worked as machinist for the Smith Valve Company, Westborough, and also had worked for Holden Plastics. She loved flower gardening, and enjoyed Elvis' music

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marie's family on Saturday, Sept. 1st from 10-11 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Dorothy F. (Mierzejewski) Dulmaine
March 9, 1927 - March 2, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Dorothy F. (Mierzejewski) Dulmaine, 78, of 9 Springbrook Road, Auburn died Thursday, March 2nd in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.

Her husband of 53 years, Arthur E. Dulmaine died in 2004. She leaves her two sons, Arthur J. Dulmaine of Auburn and Gary P. and his wife, Dorothy (Slowik) Dulmaine of Grafton; two grandsons, Ryan M. and Christian T. Dulmaine of Grafton; also survived by three sisters, Rita Wackell of Auburn, Joanne Granger of Worcester, Donna Frykholm of Grafton; and a brother, Richard Mierzejewski of Paxton. She was predeceased by a sister, Terry Perron, and four brothers, Joseph, Paul, Frank and Henry Mierzejewski.

Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Serwecki) Mierzejewski and had lived in Auburn for the past 54 years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.

Mrs. Dulmaine had worked for many years as a telephone operator for the American Telephone & Telegraph Company retiring in 1990.

She was a member of North American Martyr's Parish in Auburn; a member of the Auburn Senior Center and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was most happy, spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dorothy's family on Sunday, March 5th from 2-4 P.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A funeral Mass for Dorothy will be celebrated on Monday, March 6th at 10 A.M. in North American Martyr's Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory can be made to North American Martyr's Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, MA 01501 or to the Auburn District Nursing Association, 191 Pakachoag Street, Auburn, MA 01501.

THOMAS J. DUNLAP
December 15, 1938 - February 17, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Thomas J. Dunlap, 68, of 99 Oxford Street, Auburn, died peacefully with his wife by his side, on Saturday in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Gilbert) Ross Dunlap, of Auburn, his mother and step father, Rose (Gourmand) Gallant, and Al Gallant, of FL, his special aunt, Barbara Akerson, of FL, his two Daughters; Nancy Lajoie of Douglas, and Debra DeBeradinis, of Worcester, two step-daughters; Kathy Butkiewicz, and her husband Paul, of Rutland, Bonnie Antinovitch and her husband Ray, of Spencer, four sisters; Beverly Peabody, Kathie Jacobs, both of CA, Pamela Stevens, Lynn Marlow, and a brother Larry Dunlap all of AZ, 5 step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Deceased members of his family include his father, Thomas J. Dunlap, and a sister JoAnn Unrein.
He was born in Worcester and educated in Shrewsbury schools. He served in the US Navy, from 1951-1956 as a 3rd class Gunner aboard the USS Canberra. Mr. Dunlap, drove a truck for over 40 years, he last worked for the R&M; Leasing Co, in Oxford for many years. He is s life time member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks, and the Chester P. Tuttle Post, American Legion. He enjoyed camping, the ocean, and country music. He enjoyed life and people, and loved to talk. He was affectionately known as the "Mayor" Beaver Pines Campground, a place he loved to spend his time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral service will be held at 7PM on Wednesday following visiting hours.

Leona M. (Zitkus) Duszak
January 31, 2007

WORCESTER - Leona M. (Zitkus) Duszak, of Worcester, passed on peacefully on Wednesday, January 31st in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Mrs. Duszak's husband, Harry A. Duszak passed away in 1986. Leona leaves her devoted daughters, Patricia E. "Purl" Duszak with whom she lived and Sharon L. Shadbegian and her husband, Archie Shadbegian of Shrewsbury; an infant daughter, Mary Duszak passed away a few hours after her birth. She also leaves three nieces, Judith, Dee, Joan Shea and Linda Hetel; A grandnephew, Michael Dee; her grand puppies, Chantel and Sabrina. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Leon Zitkus; her sister, Helen Mack and a nephew, John A. Mack

Leona was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Anthony and Eva (Bagdonas) Zitkus and had lived in Worcester for 35 years. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School as a very talented and fashionable seamstress, a passion that she continued her whole life. Mrs. Duszak was also an accomplished vocalist who sang with some of the big bands at the Worcester Auditorium and also entertained the troops at Fort Devens during the World War II era.

Prior to Mrs. Duszak getting married and raising her beautiful daughters she had worked at Wyman Gordon. Leona was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt who loved cooking for her family and bringing happiness and smiles to everyone she encountered through her love for people and animals. She also made time to volunteer for the Medical School at UMass.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Leona's family on Saturday morning, February 3rd from 10-10:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd at 11 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Please omit flowers and memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, attn: Special Needs Medical Fund, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.

Judith M. "Judy" (Powers) Dwyer
June 10, 1941 - January 4, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Judith M. "Judy" (Powers) Dwyer, 64, of 23 Meadowbrook Road, Auburn, formerly of Worcester, died after a courageous 6 year battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, January 4th at UMass Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus in Worcester surrounded by her husband and children.

Judy leaves her husband of 43 years, Michael J. Dwyer, her children Melanie M. wife, of Dennis M. Ciociolo of Shrewsbury, Michael V. Dwyer and his wife, Cheryl of Enumclaw, Washington and Kathleen A. wife, of Paul Belliveau of Auburn; a sister, Patricia A. Lamoureux and her husband, James of Hubbardston, a sister in law, Andrea Powers of Athol; also survived by three grandchildren, Laura Ciociolo of New York City, Dennis Ciociolo of Shrewsbury and Zachary Dwyer of Auburn and many friends, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Richard Powers.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Vincent and Doris (Frogatt) Powers and was educated at St. Peter's High School, Worcester Junior College and Worcester City Hospital School of Medical Technology. She was employed at the former Worcester City Hospital until its closing and then worked at UMass Memorial Hospital until she was forced to retire due to her illness. She was a life long member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Judy's main love was her family and many friends. She had a unique sense of humor that everybody cherished. She spent many summers at Hampton Beach with her Aunt and Grandmother and loved the ocean, although she couldn't swim a lick. She was an avid reader and would go through 2 or 3 books a week before her illness slowed her down. Judy was also fond of traveling, although it had to always be someplace warm. Hawaii was her favorite, but really anyplace with a beach and warm water was alright with her. Although she was quit ill, she made one last trip to Virginia Beach last summer with her husband.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Judy's family on Friday, January 6th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7th at 9:30 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Auburn District Nursing Association, 191 Pakachoag Street, Auburn, MA 01501.

Calvin R. Dyke
May 5, 1921 - August 9, 2006

Auburn Calvin R. Dyke, "Cool Cal" of Ocala, Florida, and Auburn, Massachusetts died peacefully at home in Auburn surrounded by his family. Cal is survived by his nine children; Pamela and her husband Richard Soucy; Robin and her husband Roy Pella, with whom he lived for 13 years, all of Ocala, Florida; Timberly and her husband Walter Frick of Shrewsbury; Tammie and her husband Matteo Gentile; Tracy and her husband Paul McLean; Paul Dyke and his wife Shellie all of Auburn; Marci and her husband Thomas Preiser of Venice, Florida; Doree and her husband Bruce Nelson; and D. Mitchell Dyke and his wife Laura all of Worcester; 13 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandsons; and his faithful feline companion, O'Malley. He joins his wife of 46 years, Madolyn P. Dyke in eternal life. Cal retired from Warner Swasey in 1982. He went on to work, and later volunteer at Memorial Hospital. He was a friend to all. Cal proudly served in WWII and remained a member of the USAF Reserves, reluctantly retiring in 1981 after 37 years of service. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, MA. Cal's family life was full of love and laughter. He worked hard to support his family, yet always made time to spend with them. Weekends often found Cal sitting on the bleachers of the YMCA supporting his children in cheerleading and basketball games. Summer weekends were always spent together in York, Maine. Preparing for Sunday Dinner with his wife, Madolyn, was a constant. In later years, he enjoyed traveling with his family. His love of the bagpipes and drums often brought him back to Lincoln, NH for the annual Highland Games. Cal enjoyed his growing family, and was always happy to share a story or two with all.

Constant C. Elinskas
September 29, 1928 - May 31, 2007

Auburn - Constant C. Elinskas, 78, of Horne Way, Millbury, formerly of Auburn, died Thursday in UMass Memorial Medical Center, 119 Belmont St. Worcester after an illness.
His wife Beverly J. (Lundquist) died in 2004
He leaves his 2 sons; Barry C. Elinskas, of Millbury, and Kerry C, Elinskas, of Boston.
He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Constant and Nellie (Mason) Elinskas. He lived in Auburn for nearly 50 years.
A supervisor for most of his working career, Mr. Elinskas last worked at New England Telephone and the former NYNEX, in Worcester and in Springfield for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a telephone pioneer, and a member of St. Joseph's Church in Auburn, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus 4158. He was also a member of the Men's and Senior Golf league at Heritage Country Club in Charlton for over 20 years. He served on the Board of Trustees at Brierly Pond in Millbury.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8 PM on Sunday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. His funeral will be held Monday from the Funeral Home with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

John Mercer Emery
June 6, 1914 - December 13, 2006

SHREWSBURY - John M. Emery, 92, a resident of Southgate at Shrewsbury and formerly of Wayland and Newton Center, died Wednesday, Dec. 13th in the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehab Center.

He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Helen B. (Tufts) Emery; his two children, Jane E. Awalt of Ashland and Steven G. Emery of Westford; his four grandchildren, Christopher E. and Mark A. Law, Katherine G. Bleakley and David J. Emery, and six great grandchildren.

He was born in Farmington, NH, son of the late Walter C. and MAry E. (Mercer) Emery. He graduated from Bentley College. He was a longtime resident of Newton Center and Wayland before moving to SHrewsbury 10 years ago.

Mr. Emery was a pioneer in the modernization and computerization of the accounting and data processing industry. He worked for many years for the Mail-Me-Monday Company, and later for Accounting Corporation of America.

He was a former member of the Brae Burn Country Club and the Trinity Episcopal Church, Newton.

A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held on Monday, December 18th at 11 AM in the Chapel of Southgate at Shrewsbury, 30 Julio Dr., Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, APO Box 1131 Fairfax, VA 22038-1131 (www.diabetes.org)

William J. Emmett
July 16, 1949 - September 5, 2007

AUBURN, MA - William J. "Bill" Emmett, 58, of Auburn, died Wednesday, September 5th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after an illness.

He leaves a son, a daughter, two brothers, and many dear friends.

Bill served his country proudly with the United States Army in Vietnam. He was a highly decorated veteran having received the Bronze Star, Silver Star, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross.

He was a very devoted member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Bill on Thursday, September 13th at 11:00 A.M. at the Auburn Lodge of Elks, 754 Southbridge Street, Auburn. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Auburn Lodge of Elks Veterans Fund, 754 Southbridge Street, Auburn, MA 01501. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is assisting Bill's family with arrangements

ALVA E. ERICKSON
February 22, 1913 - November 1, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Alva E. (Tetreault) Erickson, 94 of Swanson Rd., died Thursday, Nov. 1st at the home of her son Kenneth in Holden.

Her husband, Melvin L. Erickson died in 1999.

She leaves her three sons, Melvin H. Erickson and his wife Margaret of Spencer, Kenneth L. Erickson and his wife Pauline of Holden, and Leonard C. Erickson and his wife Francine of Webster; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

She was born in Waltham, MA daughter of the late Henry and Celina (Gaulin) Tetreault and has lived in Auburn since 1949.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Erickson worked as an eye and ear tester for the Auburn School Department. She also was a poll worker for the town for many years.

She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, which she still was able to do at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, Auburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 5th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
