ANTHONY J. "TONY" MAENZO
May 13, 1926 - March 25, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Anthony J. "Tony" Maenzo, 80, of Pinedale Road, died Sunday March 25th in his home, after an illness.

His wife, Fanny A. (Ciuffreda) Maenzo died in 2001. He leaves his two sons, David P. Maenzo and his wife Nancy A. of Douglas, and Anthony F. Maenzo and his wife Heidi A. of North Grafton; his two sisters, Jean Nuzzetti and her husband Ralph of Worcester, and Camella "Millie" Kruczynski and her husband Chester of Shrewsbury, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tony also was a dear neighbor and friend of Leonard and Diane Doerfler, and surrogate grandfather to their children Jessica and Steven. He was predeceased by his two children, Margaret M. in 1949 and Francis A. Maenzo in 1959. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Simone) Maenzo and lived in Shrewsbury all of his life. He attended Shrewsbury High School, where he was a varsity football player, and later played semi-pro football in Worcester.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines.

Mr. Maenzo retired from the former L. Farber Company, Worcester. Tony also served as a Special Police Officer for Shrewsbury Police Department. He was a member of Saint Anne's Parish, and enjoyed tending to his garden during the summer. Tony also liked fishing, bowling and was a Little League coach for several years.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 28th at 11 AM in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tony's family on Wednesday from 10-11 AM.

Ayalah Rose Mahlert
April 28, 2006 - April 28, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Ayalah Rose Mahlert, infant daughter of Robert and Roberta (Gilmartin) Mahlert, passed Friday in Saint Vincent's Hospital in the loving arms of her family after living a few hours.
Besides her parents she leaves her paternal grandparents; Linda and William Mahlert of Auburn, her paternal great grandfather, Phillip Kupfer, of Worcester, she leaves her Aunts and Uncles; Sharon and Wayne Nicholas of Auburn, Ray Gilmartin and Finance Robyn of Bedford, many relatives cousins and friends.
She is predeceased by maternal grandparents; Robert and Mildred Gilmartin of Worcester.
Cards and expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family's home.

ROSE MARIE (CUSSON) MALAGRIDA
September 8, 1950 - March 26, 2006

WORCESTER - Rose Marie (Cusson) Malagrida, 55, of Huntington Ave., died Sunday, March 26th in her home, after an illness.

She leaves her beloved husband of 18 years, Ernest Malagrida; her son, David Brusa of Grafton; her daughter, Michelle Duffy of Millbury; her father, Joseph Cusson, Sr. of Lakeland, FL; her brother, Joseph Cusson, Jr. of Oxford; her two sisters, Estelle Derhovanessian of Sutton and Margaret Pisiniski of Northborough, and her four grandchildren, Julia Squiers, Randy Keyes, Justin and Jesse Laythe as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Stella (Naples) Cusson and her sister Joyce Cusson.

She was born in Worcester and has lived there most of her life. She graduated from Venerini Academy in Worcester.

Prior to her illness, Rose worked as an Advertising Sales Executive for many years. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church where she took pleasure in teaching Sunday school. She loved walking the cliffwalk in Newport, RI and had traveled extensively. She enjoyed playing racquetball.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, March 28th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at 11 AM in the Faith Baptist Church, 22 Faith Avenue, Auburn. Following cremation, burial in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester will be held at the family's convenience.

ANNA M. (RANO) MAILE
March 7, 1923 - March 29, 2007

WORCESTER - Anna M. (Rano) Maile, 84, of Pakachoag Village, Auburn died Thursday in Autumn Village LLC after a brief illness.
Her beloved Husband John Maile, died in 1995
She is survived by her 2 children, Robert Maile, of Sutton and Linda Ceredona, of Oxford; she leaves 4 loving grandchildren, 4 loving great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Palumbo) Ranauro. She was educated in Worcester schools.
She worked as a shipper and receiver for the former MKM Co. in the Rochdale section of Leicester for many years.
The highlights of her life were the caring for her much-loved husband and loving family, her endless Italian cooking and her favorite place, her garden. With Anna there was always "One more thing"
She was a member of North American Martyrs' Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4-7 PM on Sunday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held Monday from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs' Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.

CAROLINE F. (FREELAND) MALKASIAN
July 1, 1913 - February 17, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Caroline F. (Freeland) Malkasian, 93, formerly of 19 Mill Street, Auburn, died peacefully Saturday, February 17th at Epoch Senior Health Care of Brewster, MA.

She was married to the late Hagop H.Malkasian for 63 years; he died in July of 2001. She leaves two sons, Neil A. Malkasian of Whitefish, MT, and Alan E. Malkasian and his wife, Barbara Malkasian of South Dennis, MA; three granddaughters, Christine E. Smith of Harwich, MA; Lynn M. DeVore of Beltsville, MD and Kathy J. Malkasian of South Dennis, MA; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn F. Smith.

Caroline was born on July 1, 1913 in Sutton, MA to the late George F. and E. Florence Freeland. She was raised in Sutton, MA and graduated from Sutton High School and attended the Worcester Art Museum School. Caroline worked at the Framingham Reformatory for Women, and later worked for Perkins & Butler and Sawyer's in Worcester, MA.

Mrs. Malkasian fostered many children for the Children's Friend's Society of Worcester, MA. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn, MA, for over 60 years. She served on many committees and was a long time member of the Women's Fellowship Group. Caroline enjoyed many hobbies which included sewing, gardening, reading, and photography.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Caroline's funeral on Wednesday, February 21st at 10:30 AM in the First Congregational Church, 128 Central Street, Auburn, MA. There are no calling hours and her burial will be private. HELEN MARGARET (KARPAWICH) MALLON
January 22, 1915 - June 22, 2006

WORCESTER/SHREWSBURY - Helen M. (Karpawich) Mallon, 91, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Thursday, June 22nd in UMASS Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after a long illness at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.

She leaves her husband of 65 years, Arthur H. Mallon; six children, Robert M. Mallon of Plymouth, MA; Nancy Lee Hetzel of Jacksonville, Florida, Maureen D. Lawler of Connecticut, James A. Mallon of Vermont, Pamela Siguler of Conway, MA and Kathy M. Trimmer of California; also survived by 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 siblings.

Mrs. Mallon was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Michael J. and Beatrice (Savage) Karpawich and had lived in Shrewsbury for 10 years before moving to Notre Dame Long Term Care 3 years ago. Helen graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and the College of Newport News in Virginia.

Helen will be cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen's family Friday, June 23rd from 6-8 P.M. and Saturday June 24th from 9:00-9:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 24th at 10 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Gloria (Haase) Maloney
January 4, 1929 - April 13, 2007

WORCESTER - Gloria M. Maloney, 78, of Locust Avenue, Worcester, died April 13, in St. Vincent's Hospital, after a brief illness.
Gloria leaves her loving and doting husband of 16 years, Walter T. Maloney, of Worcester, and her four children; John (Skip) W. Coomey, Jr. and his wife Mary of Mashpee, Deborah A. Micket and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury, Darlene M. Saffran of Worcester and Dana H. Coomey of Lebanon, MO. She also leaves four step-children, Timothy Maloney and his wife Sharon of Worcester, Cynthia Ellis and her husband Richard of Clinton, Gail Ohman and her husband Tom of Worcester, and Sheila Maloney of Worcester, seven step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn M. Bush, of Worcester, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She also leaves her well-loved grandchildren, Katrina C. Breen of Webster, Timarie A. Malo of Worcester, Brandilyn C. Senckowski of Oakham, John F. Coomey of Sherrills Ford, NC and Rachelle J. Saffran of Brighton, as well as 6 great grandchildren.
Gloria was eagerly anticipating the birth of her seventh grandchild, Baby Maio, in August. She also leaves a very close group of friends from high school she affectionately called her "Cronies." Gloria was predeceased by her husbands, John W. Coomey, Sr. in 1968 and Robert F. Ahern, in 1985 and her brother, Emil W. Haase, Jr. in 1952 and a daughter in law, Pamela Coomey in 2007
She was born in Fitchburg, the daughter of Emil W. and Mildred C. (Cosentino) Haase, Gloria lived in Northboro and Westboro before settling in Worcester. She attended Commerce High School and worked at State Mutual Assurance Company retiring in 1986.
Gloria was happiest surrounded by her family and friends. Some of her best times were shared with her husband Walter while they wintered in West Palm Beach, Florida, for 18 wonderful years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling hours on Monday, April 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 17, from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, in Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St. John's cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105

Kenneth J. Mangan, Sr.
November 21, 1916 - April 10, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Kenneth J. "Kenny" Mangan, Sr. 89, of Grafton Street, Shrewsbury, died Monday, April 10th in the University Commons in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Priscilla A. (Nelson) Mangan; two sons, Kenneth J. Mangan, Jr., and his wife, Kathy of Shrewsbury, and Mark A. Mangan and his wife, Ann, of Northborough; four daughters, Laura C. Levins and her husband, Adolph of Shrewsbury, Patricia A. Mangan of Worcester, Maureen E. McHugh and her husband, Kevin of Peabody, and Kelly A. Sampson and her husband, Ricki of Holden; a sister, Nadine Henderson of Northborough; 10 grandchildren, Thomas, Ryan, Daniel, Kyle, Connor, Lauren, Patrick, Erin, Sean, Matthew; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Mangan.

Kenneth was born in Clinton, son of the late Michael J. and Laura (Toner) Mangan and had lived in Shrewsbury for 44 years. Mr. Mangan graduated from Classical High School and attended the University of Miami and Holy Cross College. He was a proud W.W. II U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran having served in London from 1942 until 1945.

Mr. Mangan worked as a Labor Staff Representative for many years for the United Way of Central Massachusetts before he retired. He also served as Secretary for the WORCESTER - Framingham Labor Council AFL-CIO.

He was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury and a member of the Shrewsbury Democratic Town Committee. His other memberships include being a member of the Board of Trustees at Worcester State College and the Vernon Hill American Legion Post # 435 both in Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kenneth' family on Monday, April 17th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 18th at 10 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain view Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the United Way of Central Massachusetts, Denholm Building, Suite 300, 484 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608.

Mischelle A. Marcel
March 29, 1961 - January 16, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Mischelle A. Marcel, 45 of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, in her home after an illness. She is survived by her father Frank Marcel and her Stepmother Ann of Leicester, her brothers Frank Marcel, of Ft. Lauderdale FL, Mike Marcel, of Leicester, and Matthew Marcel, of Hadley, and her Boyfriend Rich Cosenza, of Auburn, and her best friend, Michelle (Tasjian) Howe, of Brookfield. She was preceded in death by her mother Ingrid (Herrmann) Marcel.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Frank Marcel and the late Ingrid (Herrmann) Marcel, she was educated in Worcester Schools, graduating from the Harlow Street School and Burncoat High School, and the Salter Secretarial School.
She worked as a secretary for Avecia Biotechnology, Inc, in Milford for many years.
She was a member of the Auburn Racquetball Club. She enjoyed Drag Racing, and loved her cats; she especially enjoyed spending time with her friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours from 6-9 PM Friday January 19, 2007 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date.

Edward Marculitis
, - August 26, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Edward R. Marculitis, of 38 Farmington Drive, Shrewsbury, passed away Saturday night surrounded by his family at his side, after a 2 1/2 year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was 45 years old.
Ed leaves his wife of twenty years, Nancy (White) Marculitis, his daughters, Alicia and Lauren, his sons, John and James, his parents, Edward and Joan Marculitis of Worcester, one brother, John Marculitis and his wife Terri of Hopkinton, two sisters, Cynthia Marculitis of Worcester, Charlene Sclamo and her husband Peter of Rutland, many nieces and one nephew. He also leaves many friends who came to visit him through his illness.
Ed was born and raised in Worcester, and lived in Northbridge for eleven years and spent the last eight years in Shrewsbury. Ed graduated from Burncoat High School in 1979; he attended Wentworth Institute for two years, and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Ed worked as a software engineer for many companies over the years, most recently, he worked for Axiowave Networks in Marlboro, retiring in 2004. At that time, he was able to spend all of his time with his family. Although a difficult struggle with ALS consumed the last couple of years of his life, Ed amazed all with his strength, courage and perseverance. Ed treasured his children and was a constant presence at all of their activities. He will be sorely missed by all.
His wife, Nancy, was his primary caretaker; the day to day support of so many special people was instrumental in helping ensure that Ed was able to spend his final days at home with the love of his family surrounding him. A special thanks need to be extended to UMASS Memorial Hospice, St. Mary's Parish of Shrewsbury, the faculty and students of Worcester Academy, St. Peter's Central Catholic, The Center for Woman and Infants at St. Vincent Hospital, and the many special friends, family and neighbors who provided meals, rides, visits, and the day to day support to Ed, Nancy and their children. Their support will never be forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday August 30, in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street.

Brian D. Markey
September 28, 1958 - September 17, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Brian D. Markey, 47, died Sunday, September 17th after a long struggle with Multiple System Atrophy(Shy-Drager Syndrome).

He leaves his wife, Diane M. (Fay) Markey; his three children, Jennifer L. Markey of Shrewsbury and New York, NY, David S. Markey and Laura E. Markey, both at home; and his parents, Donald and Mary (Trudell) Markey of Millbury.

He was born in Milford and was raised in Millbury. He attended Holy Name High School, Framingham State College, W.P.I, and the Berkley School of Music.

Prior to his illness, Brian had worked as a software engineer and a computer consultant. He also had worked for the former Digital Equipment Co.

He loved writing and playing music, and was an accomplished bass guitarist and keyboardist.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., on Thursday, Sept. 21st at from 6-8 PM. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, with burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

George C. Martin, Jr,
January 29, 1921 - March 15, 2006

SHREWSBURY - George C. Martin, Jr., 85, of Shrewsbury died Monday, March 13th in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Anna A. (Kuzirian) Martin; a son, Richard P. Martin and his wife Kelly of Auburn; a daughter, Sandra A. Schmucki and her husband, Kurt of Holden; two sisters, Marianne Azadian of New York and Louise Roberts of Florida; also survived by two grandchildren, Andrew B. and Tracy A. Martin. He was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Martin and a sister, Antoinette Anderson.

George was born in Brockton, son of the late George C. Martin., Sr. and Marguerite L. (Receveur) Martin and had lived in Shrewsbury for the past 45 years. He graduated from Brockton High School where he was active on the Swim and football. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp serving in China, India and Burma where he was involved in the first helicopter rescue there. After W.W. II, George returned to military life and had served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He later served with the Air National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mr. Martin had been a Medical Administrator for the Veteran Administration for 37 years, working both in Boston and later in the Worcester out patient clinic before he retired in 1978.

He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, the Greendale Retired Men's Club both in Worcester and the National Association of the Retired Federal Employees.

George had several hobbies including, fishing, gardening, reading and especially spending time with his entire family.

A Funeral service for George will be held on Thursday, March 16th at 11 A.M. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to the American Heart Association, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
