Martha (Glavickas) Phillips
July 10, 1910 - October 28, 2006

Margaret M. (Glavickas) Phillips, wife of the late Thomas C. Phillips, died Saturday morning at the Christopher House in Worcester. She was 96 years old and was a lifelong Worcester resident.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mikalina (Kvetkauskas) Glavickas and the sister of the late Joseph Glavickas, Matthew Glavickas, and Antonia Wackell. Mrs. Phillips was a retired employee of Allmerica Financial, formerly State Mutual Life Assurance Company, having worked several years in an administrative capacity. She was a member of The Knights of Lithuania and a communicant of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn.
She leaves another sister, Julia A. Karpawich of Worcester, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and great grand nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday October 31, 2006 from the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn with a Mass at 11:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Clarence J. "Jim" Pierce
June 27, 1913 - June 24, 2006

WORCESTER - Clarence J. "Jim" Pierce, 93, of Worcester, formerly of Auburn, a longtime Bryn Mawr school custodian, died Saturday, in Saint Vincent's Hospital, after a brief illness.
His wife of 53 years; Una (Hewins) Pierce predeceased him.
He is survived by his children; Robert A. Pierce, of Rutland, Phyllis A. Powell, of Citrus Springs FL. He also leaves 6 grandchildren; Kenneth Pierce, of Danielson, CT Wendy Eovacious, of Rutland, Tammy Bobel, of New Milford, CT, Jeffrey Knight of Keyport, NJ, Jennifer Powell of Durham, NC, and William Powell of Citrus Springs FL, and 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His twin- brother, Lawrence Pierce, died in 2001. He is also predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters
Jim was born in Millbury, the son of the late William L. and Eliza (Crepeau) Pierce; he was educated in Millbury schools.
Jim worked for many years as a custodian in the Bryn Mawr School, in Auburn; He was a noted handyman and small engine repairman.
Clarence was a member of the Joel H. Prouty Lodge of Masons, the Auburn Grange and Bethel Lutheran Church. Jim was a talented musician; and he played the drums with the Auburn Senior Swingers for many years.

Jeanne M. Piltzecker
November 1, 1934 - June 5, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Jeanne M. (Durant) Piltzecker, 71, of 24 Everett Ave., died Saturday, June 3rd in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 49 years, Paul W. Piltzecker, Sr. died in 2003

She is survived by her six children, Karen, wife of David Carpenter of Douglas, Christine, wife of Joseph Leblanc of West Boylston, Jeanine, wife of Kent Dyment of Shrewsbury, Kim, wife of Shawn Finnegan of Worcester, Paul W. Piltzecker of Shrewsbury, and Tammie, wife of Jef Felch of Shrewsbury; her two brothers, Robert and Paul Durant, both of Worcester; 19 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved "Beau". She was predeceased by her son, Robert J. Piltzecker in 1985, and her brother, Ernest Jette.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Felix E. Durant and Evelyn A. (Gauthier) Jette Durant and lived in Shrewsbury for over 40 years. She attended Worcester schools and graduated from the David Hale Fanning Trade School, Worcester.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Piltzecker worked as an inspector fro the Data General Company, Westborough for 10 years. Also a longtime homemaker, Jeanne loved caring for her children and then in her later years, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She was a member of St. Anne's Parish, love square dancing and traveling with her husband, enjoyed creating crafts and looked forward every week to her Saturday morning breakfasts with the family.

Ruth J. (Kavekas) Pineault
January 19, 1920 - November 10, 2006

Auburn - Ruth J. (Kaveka) Pineault, formerly of Oxford St. North, Auburn died November 10, 2006 in Morgantown, WV. She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Maurice "Moe" Pineault who died in 1992. She leaves her three sons, David E. Pineault of Andover, Richard L. Pinealut of Morgantown, WV and Ronald R. Pineault of Oxford. She also leaves her brother Edward Kaveckas of Wapping, CT and four granddaughters and one grandson.
She was born in Worcester on January 19, 1920 daughter of John and Ursula (Juzulenas) Kaveckas of Millbury. She graduated from high school in 1938 and Becker College in 1940 with a degree in Secreterial Science. She served in the US Army form 1943-1946. She worked for Heald Machine Co. and retired from Massachusetts Electric Co. Ruth was an avid gardener, and a kind and wonderful neighbor and friend. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday from 6-9 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Her funeral will be held Saturday from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Jospeh's Church, 189 Oxford St. North. Burial will follow in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472

James T. Piper
August 3, 1934 - February 27, 2007

SHREWSBURY - James T. "Jim" Piper, 72, of Shrewsbury, passed away Tuesday, February 27th surrounded by his loving family in University Commons in Worcester after a 15 year courageous battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Beverly A. (Conway) Piper; four daughters, Laurie A. Piper of Shrewsbury; Susan R. and her husband, Brian D. Snay of Boylston; Sandra J. and her husband, Ronald D. Morrison of Oxford and Julie M. Piper and her fiance, Edward Keller of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, Heather, Bradley, Andrew, Alyssa, Ashleigh and Sarah; a brother, Kenneth H. Piper, Jr. of Northbridge; a sister, Ruth E. Kroll of Virginia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a niece, Debra Pimental and a nephew, Kevin Piper.

Jim was born in Worcester, son of the late Kenneth H. Piper, Sr. and Relma I. (Boutilier) Piper and graduated from Northbridge High School in 1952. He then entered the United States Army and served as a radio operator and a Para trooper for the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Later in Jim's life he continued his education, graduating Magna cum Laude with his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Clark University in 1978.

Mr. Piper had been employed for many years as a Network Control Supervisor for the former New England Electric Company and at the same time he enjoyed working part time at the former Spag's Supply for 6 years. After his retirement, from New England Electric, he later worked as a private contractor for the National Grid Company.

Jim loved spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed vacationing at the ocean on Cape Cod, playing golf, watching hockey and was a true New England Patriots Fan.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family on Friday, March 2nd from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A prayer service for Jim will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions can be made to the Peter Levine Cancer Center, c/o Dr. Richard Horner, 33 Kendall Street, Worcester, MA 01605.

STATIA J. (PACEK) PISINSKI
May 6, 1920 - October 11, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Statia J. (Pacek) Pisinski, 87, died Thursday, October 11th in Saint Mary Healthcare Center, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Stephen Pisinski; her two children, Donald F. Pisinski and his wife Suzanne of Sterling, and Cynthia E. Lacko and her husband John of Falls Church, VA; her daughter-in-law, Patrice Pisinski of Washington, DC; her brother, Walter J. Pacek of Palatine, IL; her sister, Dolores Dulude and her husband William of Port Richey, FL; her four grandchildren, Spencer D. and Ashley A. Pisinski, Caroline M. Pisinski, and Anthony S. Lacko. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen D. Pisinski, who died in 2002. She also was predeceased by her brothers, Benjamin M., Richard J., Edward W., and Stanley E. Pacek.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late John K. and Eva G. (Mosiej) Pacek and has lived in Auburn for many years. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester.

Mrs. Pisinski worked for several years as a clerical office worker for the Graton-Knight Co., and later Coughlin Electric and US Envelope, both in Worcester. She then worked for the former Doctor's Hospital, Worcester where she was the assistant financial clerk. She remained there and retired from it successor, Adcare Hospital in 1989.

She was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Auburn, where she was active in their Senior Steppers group. She was a member of the Auburn Red Hat Society and the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening and in her retirement years, spent a lot of time traveling, especially in New Hampshire and Maine, Virginia and Florida, where they wintered.

Rita (Courteau) Plant
April 4, 1919 - June 12, 2007

WORCESTER - Rita (Courteau) Plant, 88, of Plantation Street, formerly of Whitinsville and Auburn, a longtime area Licensed Nurse Practitioner, died in University Commons after an illness.
Her husband Telesphore Plant, died in 1981
She is survived by her three loving daughters; Lorna LaTulippe, of West Boylston, and Shelia Colorio, of Manchaug, and Maureen Dalli, of Lowell, she leaves 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and was expecting her 4th great grandchild in July.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Virginia (Mathieu) Courteau; she was educated in Worcester schools.
Mrs. Plant worked as an LPN in the Clark Manor Nursing Home in Worcester for many years.
She was a member of the Whitinsville Women's Club for many years and President in 2000 She was a member of Liberty Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed traveling and crafting.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. There are no calling hours.

Normand Leo Plante
July 27, 1931 - September 3, 2006

MILLBURY - Normand L. Plante, 75 of Millbury, died Saturday in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 119 Belmont Street Worcester, after a short illness.
He is survived by his Wife Mary "Joanne" (Remillard) Plante, their 10 children; Wayne Plante, and his wife Tammy, of Sutton; Elizabeth McKenna, of Uxbridge; Diana Lavin, and her husband Steven, of Auburn; David Plante, of Riverside, RI; Andrew Plante, and his wife Karen; of Blackstone, Michelle Hashem and her husband, Michael, of Worcester; William Terrien, Jr., and his wife Michele, of Auburn; Cynthia LaRoche and her husband Barry, of Fitchburg; Stephen Terrien, and his wife Jill, of Leicester, Beth Chenevert, and her husband David, of Holden. Other members of his family include a brother Edmund Plante, of FL. A brother Constant Plante, formerly of Northbridge predeceased him.
He was born in Uxbridge, the son of the late Wilfrid and Doria (Letendre) Plante; he was educated in Uxbridge schools. He later graduated from Providence College.
A proud veteran, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
Mr. Plante worked for 21 years as an accountant for the Whitinsville Water Company.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mumford Council.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours 6-8 Thursday September 7, 2006 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be held from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Nancy A. (Spiecker) Polglase
May 18, 1930 - March 14, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Nancy Ann (Spiecker) Polglase, 75, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Tuesday, March 14th in Stoneham, of kidney failure. She is survived by her son, Charles K. Polglase, O.D. of Fairhaven, her daughter, Holly M. Polglase of Winchester, and her grandson, Gordon A. Polglase.

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Belcher) Spiecker, and later the step-daughter of Lillian (LaBonte) Spiecker. After marrying, she lived in Germany, Mississippi, New York, Minnesota, Michigan and New Jersey before settling in Shrewsbury in 1971. Active in the community, she served as a town meeting member, was a member of the Shrewsbury Business Women and worked for the Shrewsbury Treasurer and Collector for many years. She devoted much of her free time to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church where she served on various committees and sang in the choir. She loved to cook, entertain, travel, attend the theatre, read mysteries and solve crossword puzzles. She will be truly missed by her family and her many friends.

Family and friends are invited to her funeral service which will take place at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 34 Prospect Street, Shrewsbury on Saturday, March 18th at 10 A.M. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 34 Prospect Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

Ernest A. Pollier
April 15, 1919 - December 17, 2005

AUBURN, MA - Ernest A. Pollier, 86, formerly of Pollier Way, died Saturday, December 17th in the Millbury Healthcare Center, after an illness.

His wife, Gloria A. (Joslin) Pollier died in 1999.

He leaves his son, James E. and his wife Liona of Auburn; his daughter, Carol A. and her husband Samuel Davis of Kearneysville, WV; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Clarence and his sister Mabel Pierce.

He was born in Auburn, son of the late Louis and Emma (Belanger) Pollier and has lived here his entire life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. Pollier retired in 1975 as a foreman for the former Crompton and Knowles Co., Worcester, where he had worked for 35 years. He then worked as the maintenance man for the Donna Kay Nursing Home, Worcester before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Auburn, the Auburn Racquet Club and the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post in Auburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, December 19th from 7-9 PM at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Richard H. Pond
February 9, 1952 - August 13, 2007

BREWSTER, MA - Richard H. Pond, 52, of Brewster and formerly of Auburn, died Monday August 13th in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, after a long illness.

He leaves his two children, Benjamin R. Pond and Molly T. Pond, both of Auburn; his father, Herbert R. Pond of Auburn; his sister, Heather M. Pond of Brewster, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly J. (Maccabee) Pond, and his two brothers, Dana and David Pond. He was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn. He attended Worcester Academy and graduated from Auburn High School. Mr. Pond had worked as a woodworker for the Seacoast Shutter Company of Cape Cod until his illness. Previously, he was the assistant manager of the former H.C. Pond Lumber Company in Auburn for many years. Known for his great sense of humor, Dickie also enjoyed classic cars and loved to fish.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday August 15th from 5-7 PM in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16th at 10 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial in the Pond family lot in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
