Sylvia Grace (Cutting) Post
July 10, 1930 - November 10, 2006

Auburn - Sylvia Cutting Post, 76 years of life, born on July 10, 1930 in Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday November 10, at home after wonderful, full life.

She leaves a wonderful caring, husband Donald G. Post of 53 years; her 3 loving children, her two sons, Robert and his wife Margaret of Auburn, and Gary and his wife Laurel of Douglas; a daughter, Cynthia Bertrand, and her husband Gary of Auburn. She also leaves 6 loving grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Robert, and her parents Adna and Grace (Smith) Cutting.

Sylvia graduated from Auburn High School in 1948 and then graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Mount Holyoke College. She attended Clark University Masters Program.

Sylvia was diabetic for 73 years. She participated in pioneer programs at Joslin Diabetes Center headed by Dr. Priscilla White for the successful pregnancies of diabetic mothers. She volunteered in many studies to help in the advancement of diabetic research to find a cure for diabetes.

She received a 50 year Gold Medal of Excellence from Joslin Clinic and the E. I. Lilly Co. for being insulin dependent for 50 years.

She was President of the former Hillcrest Dairy. She was co-owner of The Farmer's Daughter, Hillcrest Farm of Auburn.

She served as Past President of the Auburn Woman's Club, Past President of the Auburn Rotary Anne's, and Past President of the Mount Holyoke Alumni Association. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Auburn.

She enjoyed her life growing up on the farm and being part of family businesses. She loved traveling and being a grandmother to all her loving grandchildren. She will be remembered as a warm, gentle, and loving wife, mom, and grammy. She was courageous and wise.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday November 12th at the Britton Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A service celebrating her life will be on Monday, November 13th. At 10am at the First Congregational Church, 120 Central St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, to help Sylvia continue her goal to find a cure for diabetes, memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvia C Post Research Fund, Joslin Diabetes Clinic, One Joslin Pl., Suite 745, Boston, MA 02215.

SHIRLEY E. (DUFF) PRESCOTT
November 15, 1920 - April 9, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Shirley E. (Duff ) Prescott, 86, of Shrewsbury, died Monday, April 9th in Saint Camillus Healthcare Center in Whitinsville after an illness.

Her husband, George D. Prescott died in 1975. She leaves a daughter, Donna J. DiLiddo of Grafton; a granddaughter, Sharea Thompson of Shrewsbury; and a great grandson, Noah Thompson of Shrewsbury; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Prescott was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward and Jeannie (Watson) Duff and had lived in Shrewsbury for over 50 years. She graduated from North High School.

Shirley had worked as a Cafeteria Worker for the Shrewsbury Schools for over 22 years before she retired in 1983.

She was a member of Saint Mary's Parish and was involved with the church's Jet Set Group.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley's family on Wednesday, April 11th from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be private.

Edward J. Prostak
October 9, 1923 - April 12, 2006

Worcester - Edward Joseph Prostak, Sr., 82, of Worcester died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 12, at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Prostak was born in Worcester, the son of Onufry and Catherine (Sowa) Prostak, and lived in Worcester for most of his life, working for General Electric for 42 years.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Theresa (Bastille) Prostak; three sons, Edward J., Jr. of New York, Gary of California, and John G. of Columbia, S.A.; and two daughters, Cheryl Ann and her husband, Roger Willis, of Maine and Geralyn and her husband, Christopher Bailey, of Auburn. Mr. Prostak, known as "Grampie" for the past twenty years, also leaves six grandchildren; Lily and Jake Willis and Samantha, Sydney, Paige, and Jaime Bailey. Mr. Prostak predeceases two sisters, Ann S. Miller and Helen, and her husband Walter Lucyniak of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Josephine Prostak of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. Edward's Brothers Stanley and Walter; and sister Isabel C. Petracca have predeceased him.

Mr. Prostak is a veteran of WWII, having proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

RITA A. (WHITE) PROVOST
October 5, 1918 - January 12, 2006

Auburn - Rita A. (White) Provost, 87, of 304 South St., died Thursday January 12th in St.Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 65 years, Francis M. "Marney" Provost; her three children, Sheila A. Evans of Townsend, Marshall E. Provost of Oxford and Richard D. Provost of Naples, FL, Geraldine O'Toole and Donna Errede, both of Clifton Park, NY; her brothers. Clarence and Roger White, both of Millbury; her sister, Anna Werc of Michigan City, IN; her 8 grandchildren, Tracey Ryan, Bonnie O'Brien, Cheryl Matthews, Matthew and Michael Evans, Jodi Brekke, Laura Murphy and Paula Comeau; fourteen great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings, Evelyn Stockwell, Ernest White, Edward White, Alice Pierce and Felix White.

She was born in Millbury, daughter of the late Felix and Alice White and has lived here in Auburn for many years.

Mrs. Provost worked in the former Carlton Woolen Mill in Rochdale. Following her marriage to Marney, Rita began her life's journey mothering to her ever growing family. Rita was always quick to lend a hand with work at the family farm or in one of the many groups that she volunteered with. She also was generous with her home and heart for several children through the years. A wonderful baker, Rita created many special occasion cakes through the years, giving many as a special gift from the family. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Auburn and the Red Hat Society in Florida. An avid bowler, she participated in many leagues through the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, January 15th from 3-6 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 16th at 12:30 PM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn, with burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn District Nursing Association, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501 or to St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

ADAM PUCHEK
August 5, 1917 - June 6, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Adam Puchek, 89, of Shrewsbury died Wednesday, June 6th in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Mr. Puchek was born on August 5, 1917 in Worcester, son of the late Water and Magdalena (Adamova) Puchek. Adam graduated in 1934 from Commerce High School in Worcester, where he played varsity basketball. He was also a member of the New England Boys Club Championship Team coached by Charlie Bunkers. In the late 1930's he played with the Merrill Usher Steelmen, the Norton Company and the Tadcaster Brewers Basketball Teams.

In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. During his service he was stationed at Bolling Field in Washington, D.C. and at the B-24 Training Station in Smyrna, TN. He was honorable discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

While playing semi-pro basketball in Central New England he proudly recalled having competed against future professionals. He faced Vern Gardner who later played for the Philadelphia Warriors, Chuck Connors and Jack Garfinkel who both joined the Boston Celtics in 1946.

On August 8, 1948 he married Lucy T. Pacanowski at the Church of the Transfiguration in New York City and in 1952 he moved with Lucy and their two daughters to Shrewsbury.

Adam had been employed at Norton Company/Saint Gobain in Worcester for 38 years, having worked in the grading and machine operations department before he retired in 1976.

He was a member of the Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury, the Ionic Avenue Boys Club Alumni Association, the Greendale Retired Men's Club and was a former member of the International Board of Basketball Officials. Adam was also an avid golfer.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Lucy T. (Pacanowski) Puchek ; two daughters, Madelyn J. Conroy and her husband, John of Biddeford, Maine; and Linda Sereno of La Crescenta, California; also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Sarah Conroy and Daniel and Mark Sereno. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alex, Michael and Paul Puchek and two sisters, Ann Broadbent and Adele Purcell.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Adam's family on Monday, June 11th from 9:15-10:15 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 11th at 11 A.M. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain view Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Worcester Boys and Girls Club, 65 Tainter Street, Worcester, MA 01610-2520.

Linda M. Pusateri
September 3, 1945 - October 11, 2006

Spencer - Linda M. Pusateri, 61, of Spencer, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous an inspiring 3 year battle with cancer, on Wednesday October 11th.

Linda leaves two sisters, Sandra D. McGilvray and husband Ronald of Rutland; and Melanie A. Hoey and husband Patrick, of Charlton; a nephew James Pusateri of Sturbridge; and nieces, Marlena and Lindsay Hoey of Charlton; and her extended family, Jaime Planck, Angela Koprowski, Gary Avery and their families.

Linda was born September 3, 1945, the first daughter born to Orlando M. and Evelyn M. Pusateri who predeceased her. She graduated with honors from North Brookfield High School in 1963. Linda received a Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester State College in 1967, and later attained a Masters Degree with distinction in Natural Sciences from WPI.

Linda taught math and science at North Brookfield High School for 11 years where she wrote a calculus text book for use in teaching some of her classes. She then worked for many years at the former Riley Stoker Corp. in Worcester as a corporate engineering estimator.

Linda had many talents and hobbies including, singing, ice skating, horse back riding, drawing and painting, and crocheting. She donated many of her creations to charitable groups for auction.

Linda touched many minds and hearts and she will be sorely missed.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, at Christ Memorial Church, Main Street, North Brookfield. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, North Brookfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice Program, P.O. Box 2795, Worcester, MA 01613.

Margaret Y. (Downey) Reagan
September 10, 1930 - February 6, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Margaret Y. (Downey) Reagan, 75, of 7 Wesleyan Terrace and formerly of Northborough, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 6th, 2006.

Her husband, Richard P. Reagan, Sr. died in 1998.

She leaves her six children, Richard P. Reagan, Jr., of Pawtucket, RI, Dennis J. Reagan of Sterling, MA, Kathleen M. Young of Titusville, FL, Daniel J. Reagan of Sutton, Brenda VanKleeck of Jefferson, MA, and Patrick J. Reagan of Union, NJ; a brother, George Downey of St. Petersburg, FL; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren/.

She was born in Boston, daughter of the late George and Yvonne (Frazier) Downey and lived many years in Northborough, moving to Shrewsbury in 1979.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Reagan owned several antique stores through the years, including The Strawberry Patch in Shrewsbury, and Tins and Things in Sudbury and Northborough. She also had worked at the former Grille restaurant in Northborough. An avid artist, Marge loved to paint She loved the ocean, especially at Rockport, MA. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, February 7th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8th at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

Lillian M. (Reilly) Reilly
October 8, 1923 - July 10, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Lillian M. (Reilly) Reilly, 83, a resident of Shrewsbury for 50 years died Tuesday, July 10th in UMass Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus after a short illness.

Her husband of 50 years, Joseph H. Reilly, Sr., died in 1995. She is survived by a son, Joseph H. Reilly Jr., and his wife, Alice of Worcester; two daughters, Patricia A. Tamulis and her husband, Peter of Worcester and Sr. Lillian Reilly of West Springfield with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Holyoke.; an "adopted daughter", Sr. Maureen Griffin of West Springfield, also with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Holyoke; six grandchildren, Kathryn A. Manfield, and her husband, Craig; Michelle M. Sheeran, and her husband, Michael, Michael P.Tamulis and his wife, Stefanie, Christopher J. Tamulis, Katie J. Reilly, and Joseph H. Reilly III; also survived by nine great grandchildren, Meaghan, Michael, Daniel, and Brendan Sheeran, Abigail, Elizabeth, Emily Manfield and Rory and Jana Tamulis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful neighbors. She was predeceased by a brother, James E. Reilly, a sister Marjorie Donahue and a great grandson, Ryan C. Manfield.

Lillian was born in Watertown, Massachusetts, daughter of the late James and Agnes (Breen) Reilly and had attended grammar and high school at Saint Patrick's in that town. She then had worked at New England Telephone Company for a brief time before proudly entering and serving her country with the U.S. Navy WAVES during W.W. II.

She was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury. Lillian at one time volunteered at the former Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester and had served as President of the Mother's Guild there. Lillian's pride and joy was her entire family, she always loved spending time with.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lillian's family on Sunday, July 15th from 2-5 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 16th at 10 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations can be made to Sisters of St. Joseph, Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.

VINCENT RENDINA
July 8, 1911 - January 31, 2006

WORCESTER - Vincent Rendina, 94, of 26 Robin Road, formenry of Astoria, New York, died Tuesday in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, 119 Belmont Street, after an illness.
His wife Sara (Santino) Rendina died in 2005
He was born in Barile Italy, son of the late Michaelarchanelo, and Maria (D'Auria) Rendina.
He worked as a cabinetmaker for many years.
He leaves an Nephew and Niece, Mr. & Mrs. Bart Ferreira, of Worcester.
His funeral services and burial wil be private.

Frances M. Riani
October 4, 1917 - July 29, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Frances M. (Kosciuszek) Riani, 89, formerly of Millbury, died Sunday, July 29th in the Shrewsbury Nursing & Rehab Center after an illness.

Her husband, Eugene J. Riani died in 1978. She leaves her two daughters, Linda L. Croteau and her husband Paul of Leicester, and Jean M. Anderson and her husband Gary of Shrewsbury; her two brothers, Thaddeus Kosciuszek of Littleton, and Thomas Kosciuszek of Pahrump, Nevada; her sister, Theresa Kosciuszek of Worcester; her four grandchildren, Kristin Corbett, Michael and Matthew Croteau, and Bryan Anderson; her two great grandchildren Ryan and Andrew Corbett, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Walter and John, and by her sisters, Sr. Justine (Helen Kosciuszek) and Pauline Deptula.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Alexander and Pauline (Szcygielski) Kosciuszek and lived many years in Millbury and later Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury. Frances attended St. Mary's and graduated from Commerce High School. She worked as an office assistant prior to her marriage. Following several years at home with her children, Frances began working for Astra Pharmaceutical, where she retired in 1979 as a quality control inspector. She enjoyed spending time with here family, dancing, playing Bingo and vacationing in Maine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury on Wednesday, August 1st from 5-8 PM. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2nd from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Saint Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury
