December 15, 1947 - December 26, 2005

WORCESTER - Maureen Sonnier, 58, of 378 Plantation Street, Worcester died Monday, December 26th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after an illness.

She leaves a daughter, Brenda L. Rollins of Shrewsbury; 3 brothers, Frank Sonnier of Okalahoma, Olan Sonnier of Virginia and Charles Sonnier of Spencer, MA; a sister, Mary Bourque of Tennessee; also survived by 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Maureen was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Tonis and Anne (Gabriella) Sonnier and had lived in Worcester for many years. She graduated from Ascension High School in Worcester and had served in the U.S. Army.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Maureen family on Thursday, December 29th from 6-8 P.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30th at 10 A.M. in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.

Donald H. "Donny" Sorensen
August 24, 1959 - January 23, 2008

SHREWSBURY - Donald H. "Donny" Sorensen, 48, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, January 23rd in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus in Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Nancee M. (Keigwin) Sorensen of Shrewsbury; two sons, Nathan D. Sorensen and Justin M. Sorensen both of Shrewsbury; a brother, Henry Sorensen of Holden; two sisters, Janet Grebla of Connecticut and Kim Sorensen of Holden; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Donny was predeceased by three brothers, Wayne, Chester, Jr., and Mark Sorensen and a sister, Lynn Sorensen.

Donny was born in Worcester son of the late Chester Sorensen, Sr. and Donalda (Mitchell) Sorensen and had lived in Shrewsbury for the past 20 years. He was the owner and operator of the family business C.L. Sorensen, Sr. Construction Company in Boylston until he retired due do illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donny's family on Saturday, January 26th from 2:00-3:00 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A prayer service for will be held at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312.

Roy J. Spangenberg
May 30, 1940 - October 20, 2007

WORCESTER, MA - Roy J. Spangenberg, 67 of Worcester and formerly of Auburn, died Saturday October 20th in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.

He leaves his two daughters, Donna M. Spaulding and her husband Richard of Cherry Valley, and Brenda L. Spangenberg and her spouse Lorraine LeMay of Worcester; his former wife, Catherine A. (West) Spangenberg with whom he lived, his three grandchildren, Valerie Spangenberg, Richard Spaulding III, and Michael Spaulding; his sister, Theresa Raymond and her husband Edward of Sequim, WA; his aunt, Nellie Swickas of Worcester, and his uncle Alexander Senosk of Worcester, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Allen G. and Ann H. (Senosk) Spangenberg.

He was born in Nanticoke, NY and was raised in Auburn and lived in Worcester for many years.

Mr. Spangenberg worked as a machine operator and late as manager of the shipping and receiving department of the former Handy Pad Co., Worcester for many years, before and losing his sight in and accident. After becoming disabled, he worked at various jobs in the Worcester area, as well as volunteered many hours at the Lutheran Home of Worcester to remain active.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Auburn.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 25th from the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Committal services will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

Paul Francis Standring
March 18, 1945 - August 11, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Paul F. Standring, 61, lifelong resident of Auburn, died Friday, August 11th in his home after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 22 years, Jane L. (Milley) Standring; a son, Dameon R. and his wife, Michelle L. Esposito of Leicester; three daughters, Elizabeth L. Esposito and her fiance Jeffrey S. Allain of Auburn; Kathleen A. Standring of Auburn and Kelly Jones of Georgia; 8 grandchildren, Vincent, Victoria, Varissa, Paris, Emily, Olivia, Claudette and Julia; also survived by eight brothers, Harold Standring of Yarmouth, Thomas Standring of Leicester, David Standring of Holden, William Standring of Auburn, Alan Standring of Charlton, Terrance Standring of Phoenix, Arizona, Neil Standring of Spencer and Glenn Standring of Charlton; and one sister, Faith Fritze of Altamont Springs, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Ronald Standring of Florida.

Mr. Standring was born and raised in Auburn, son of the late Harold and Imelda (Cadarette) Standring and had graduated from Auburn High School. He was a true Auburn Dandy, football was his passion when he was in high school. His picture still remains in the Auburn Sports Hall of Fame. Because of his love of sports, Paul became a coach and became very active in the Auburn Youth Sports Program. He also had served his country proudly with the Marine Corps Reserves.

Paul had worked as the Head Custodian for many years at the Auburn High School before he retired in June of 2006. He had a green thumb, and this definitely showed in his lovely gardens, he also was frequently seen with a fishing rod in his hand. His memberships include, being a member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn; and the Local Teamsters Union. He was a former member of the Auburn Elks and Auburn Sportsman Club.

His biggest love and joy in the world, was his family, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren especially. He quoted not to long ago "a grandfather's work is never done". He also was a great mentor to his nieces and nephews through the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paul's family on Monday, August 14th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15th at 10 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, 128 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will be in the family lot in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations in his memory can be made to the First Congregational Church, 128 Central Street, Auburn.

Paul Edward Stearns
April 2, 1947 - July 13, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Paul E. Stearns, 59, of 12 Clark St., died Friday, July 14th at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his beloved wife of 36 years, Annette E. (St. John); his two children, Michael P. Stearns and his wife, Julie of Three Rivers, MA and his daughter, Leigh A. Stearns of Auburn; his two brothers, William Stearns, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Shrewsbury, and Thomas Stearns and his wife, Bev of Panama; his two grandchildren, Amanda Stearns and Christopher Gosselin.

He was born in Worcester, a son of the late William J. Stearns, Sr. and Helen T. (Powers) Stearns and has lived in Auburn for more than 30 years. He graduated from South High School and attended Worcester Junior College. He served in the Army Reserves for several years.

Paul retired from Morgan Construction, Worcester where he had worked for 35 years.

He was a member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post, Auburn, loved to bowl, was a die hard Red Sox fan, but most important to him was his family and especially his two cherished grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, July 17th from 5-8 PM at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 18th at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Lisa Marie (Toscano) Steele
December 9, 1958 - September 21, 2006

Auburn - Lisa M. (Toscano) Steele, 47, died Thursday, September 21 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.

She leaves her husband, Russell D. Steele; her son and his fianc, Shawn D. Steele and Erin Pike of Auburn; her father, Frank Toscano of Worcester; her three sisters, Mary Lebel, Carol Toscano, and Paula Carlson, all of Millbury; her two brothers, Francis Toscano, Jr. and Michael Toscano, both of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Ann (Eagleton) Toscano.

She was born in Worcester and graduated from David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School.

Mrs. Steele worked for several years as a hairdresser. She then worked for many years as a sales associate at several locations for a local Dunkin Donuts franchisee.

She loved to spend time with Alyssa and the twins, loved to visit the beach and enjoyed long rides with her husband. Her love and devotion will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn Monday, Sept. 25th from 5-8 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 26th at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn, followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 350 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01604.

Barbara Ann (Davis) Stevenson
March 27, 1934 - January 31, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Barbara Ann. (Davis) Stevenson, 72, of Auburn, was called home from the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, in Worcester on Wednesday, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (McCormack) Davis.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, Donald R. Stevenson, Sr., 2 daughters Sandra A. and her husband Mark D. Brusa, Tracy L. and her husband Christopher D. Brusa, a son Donald R. and his wife Tracy L. Stevenson. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Mark and Courtney Brusa, Jesse, Brianna and Heather Brusa, and Kasmir and Megan Stevenson. She also leaves a brother Ernest Davis of Worcester, and 2 sisters, Alice Doyle, of Worcester, and Dorothy Beauregard, of Royal Palm Beach, FL. A brother Hubert Davis and a sister Helen Blondin predeceased her. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. She was a supervisor at Automatic Data Processing in Auburn for many years.
She was a member of Saint Joseph's Church in Auburn. She volunteered at the Auburn Senior Center, as well as the Auburn Historical Society, where she was treasurer prior to her illness.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her 7 grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at her summer place in Kennebunk, Maine during the summers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8 Monday evening in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held Tuesday from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Barbara's family would like the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the UMASS Medical Center and the Rose Monahan, Hospice Residence, for their efforts and compassion.

Maynard A. Stone
November 1, 1921 - February 15, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Maynard A. Stone, 84, of 6 Maybelle Ave. passed away at home on Wednesday, February 15. Maynard was predeceased by his wife, Mary Rita (Dunford) Stone. He leaves three sons, six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was born in Seekonk, MA to Arthur H. Stone and Lizzie (Aldrich) Stone and was raised in Worcester, MA. He married Mary Rita Dunford in 1948 and moved to Auburn in 1951. Maynard served his country in World War II as an Army sergeant in the 339k" Fighter Squadron. He was stationed in New Guinea during his service. Maynard was employed as an insurance investigator with Retail Credit, now known as Equifax. He retired 26 years ago.
He is survived by his three sons: Lawrence F. and his wife, Patricia of Auburn; William E. and his wife Arlene, of Petersburg, IL.; John M. and his wife, Mary of Spencer. He also leaves 6 grandchildren: Jeff, Ryan, Christopher, John, Mary Kate and Sara. And he leaves his great grandchildren: Ellie and Carly.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Christopher W. Stone
December 6, 1980 - March 28, 2006

Leicester-Christopher W. Stone, 25, of Burncoat Lane, died Tuesday, March 28th.

He leaves his parents, William E. and Arlene (Lundgren) Stone of Petersburg, IL; his brother, John P. Stone of Leicester; his maternal grandparents, John and Shirley Lundgren of Port Orange, FL; his seven uncles and aunts, Larry Stone, and his wife Pat of Auburn; John Stone, and his wife Mary Stone of Spencer, Janice Wallen of Port Orange, FL, Karen, wife of Dennis Osborne of New York, Joyce, wife of Jack Thebodo of Leicester, Gloria, wife of Brian Smith of Webster, and Joan Hicks of Petersburg, IL; several cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother Eric Stone, and his paternal grandparents, Maynard A. and Mary R. Stone of Auburn.

He was born in Worcester, and lived in Leicester most of his life. He graduated from Leicester High School, class of 1999. His love of watching and playing sports led his to be a member of the varsity football, baseball and basketball teams.

Chris was working as an apprentice electrician, and had worked for EMCI as well as several other area electrical contractors.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 31st from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 10 AM in the Leicester Federated Church, 1 Washburn Square., Leicester. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Russell E. Stromberg
October 3, 1936 - May 27, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Russell E. Stromberg, 69, of 13 Oak Street, a retired machinist, died Saturday, May 27, in the Blaire House, Worcester after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth "Betty" M. (Bruneau) Stromberg. Among his survivors include; cousins, Edna Wydick, of Auburn, and Marion Anderson, Linda Vernon, and Ellen Berringer, and a sister in law Irene Landry, 5 Nieces, 2 nephews, and 2 very close friends; Bob and Pat Pearson.
He was born in Worcester; he was the son of the late Elon and Esther Gunhild (Soderlund) he graduated from Auburn High School.
Mr. Stromberg worked for the Innertite Corp. formerly known as Olson Manufacturing, for many years as a Foreman/Machinist, he retired in 1998
He is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Burial: Fri. June 2, 2006, 12:15 PM at Hillside Cemetery

NANCY J. STURDEVANT
May 1, 1959 - November 7, 2007

Charlton - Nancy J. Sturdevant, 48, of Charlton, passed away peacefully, in St. Vincent's Hospital Wednesday morning, surrounded by family and close friends, after being stricken ill at home.
She is survived by her parents; Dr. Preston J. and Audrey (Kleiner) Sturdevant, Jr. of Charlton, her brother, Preston J. Sturdevant, III and his wife Marie, of Auburn, her sister Carole Vilandre and her husband, Michael, of Fiskdale, and her longtime companion, Philip LaRocque, of Charlton. Nancy also leaves her five nieces and nephews; Christine and Bobby Sturdevant, Cully and Cory Hagberg, and Hollie Vilandre, whom she adored. She is predeceased by her sister Lindy. Nancy was born in Worcester, grew up in Auburn and was a graduate of Auburn High School, and attended Framingham State College. Nancy was a warm and caring person with a warm smile and a contagious laugh. She was a lover of animals, especially cats. Nancy is a Past Worthy Advisor of the Auburn Rainbow for girls. Nancy worked for AAA in Worcester for many years, and was also a waitress for many local restaurants.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8 PM on Friday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Hadwen Park Congregational Church, 8 Clover St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hadwen Park Church Memorial Fund.
