MARGUERITE N. (HILDRETH) UPPSTROM
September 7, 1920 - February 6, 2006

Charlton / Auburn - Marguerite N. (Hildreth) Uppstrom, 85, a resident of the Overlook Masonic Health Center, and formerly of Auburn, died Monday, February 6th in the home, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 47 years, Verner C. Uppstrom, Jr. died in 1987.

She leaves her three children, Sandra M., wife of David Austin of Auburn, Sheila J. Darling of Londonderry, NH and Sharon A., wife of James LaMountain of West Boylston; three grandchildren, Todd Darling, Robyn Dolliver and Keith LaMountain; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marilyn Kirk, Hazel Henderson and Carolyn Warhurst.

She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Joseph O. Hildreth, Jr. and Nellie I. (Lawrence) Hildreth and lived in Auburn for many years, before moving to Charlton four years ago.

Mrs. Uppstrom enjoyed her time at Overlook, participating in her favorite bingo and card games, as well as socializing with staff and residents.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, February 8th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in the Faith Baptist Church, 22 Faith Avenue, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn

ROSE VAN VLECK LONG
August 2, 1928 - August 9, 2007

Sterling- Rose O. Van Vleck / Long, 79, of 4 Kitchener Rd. and Clementsvale, Nova Scotia, was called home to her Lord on August 9, 2007 after a long illness. Rose was born on August 2, 1928 to the late Elisha and Olive (Vale) Wiles, formerly of Bear River East, N.S.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 9 years, Gerald Long of Clementsvale, N.S., as well as Gerald's grown daughters and their families, a sister Muriel Beirhorst (Fred) residing in Bear River East, N.S. and many nephews, nieces, friends and dear family there.
Left to carry on here are Rose's twin sons, Laurence Van Vleck (Corinne) of Westminster, Gerald Van Vleck of Lunenburg, and a daughter Sharon DeVillers (Curt) of Sterling. A huge void will be left in the lives of her grandchildren Eric, Keith, Shannon, Kelly, Olivia, Shaye, and Ethan.
Former husband Richard Van Vleck of Sterling predeceased her in 1981, as well as her brother Stuart Wiles(Thelma) of Granby Conn. who was laid to rest in 1997.
Rose's devotion to family, friends, and church enriched her, careers in early life of hairdressing, and later of a member of the Clinton Hospital staff sustained her.
Rose's funeral was held on August 13 in Nova Scotia. Services were provided by Kaulbach Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Memorial donations in memory of Rose may be sent to The Sterling Ambulance Fund, 5 Main St. Sterling, MA 01564.

Ann M. (Pescaro) Vandal
July 26, 1926 - February 23, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Ann M. (Pescaro) Vandal, of Melvin Ave, died Friday February 23rd in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 55 years Norman H. Vandal; her son, Robert Vandal and his wife Lori of Auburn; her daughter, Marianne Boudreau and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury; her sister, Pearl Largess Prunier of Shrewsbury; her four grandchildren, Casey, Cameron and Caitlin Ann Boudreau of Shrewsbury and Derek Boudreau of Worcester; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, George and Edward Pescaro, her sister Helen Pescaro and her nephew Raymond Pescaro.

She was born in Shrewsbury, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Corazzini) Pescaro and lived here all of her life. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School, Worcester.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Vandal worked for the former Marcus Department Store and the former First National Supermarkets. She was a member of Saint Anne's Parish, the Victor R. Quaranta American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary and the Golden Girls. She enjoyed cooking, baking and flower gardening. The time she spent with her family was most special for Ann.

Ann's family would like to thank the UMass Memorial Hospital-Memorial Campus 5 South staff who mad a difference with their skilled and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on SUNDAY, February 25th from 5-8 PM in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 26th from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 1 PM in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

David Paul Vandawalker
June 30, 1959 - October 13, 2006

CORK CITY, IRELAND / SHREWSBURY - David Paul Vandawalker, 47, of Cork, City Ireland and Shrewsbury, an executive of Atlas Box and Crate, Inc. died Sunday in his home in Ireland.

He leaves behind his wife and best friend Charlene Vandawalker, his step children; Lindsay Corcoran, Patrick Corcoran and his fiance Christina Mazzilli, His step grand daughter Ayla Ann Corcoran. He was the son of Virginia Vandawalker of Frankfort New York, and the Late George Vandawalker. He leaves his beloved brothers Timothy and his wife Liz of Hopedale, Massachusetts, Robert and his wife Michelle of Ilion, New York, the Late George (Skip) Vandawalker, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

He also leaves his in-laws; Joseph and Ann Brady of Plymouth, Massachusetts and their families who considered him a treasured member of their family.

Among his survivors he also leaves behind three close childhood friends from New York. Patrick Sweeney, Danny Herkel, Cheryl Millar and their Spouses, whose friendship he has treasured throughout the years.

David and Charlene are also leaving behind the many treasured friends and colleagues who touched their lives in the years they spent in Ireland.

David was born in Ilion, New York. He graduated from Ilion High School class of 1977.

David served 4 years in the U.S. Navy.

He was the Director of Operations at Atlas Box and Crating Ireland, a company that he started up in Ireland in March of 2003.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street. His funeral will be held from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 AM in Saint Mary's Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

REGINA A. (CLOUTIER) VAUDREUIL
December 24, 1911 - December 3, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Regina A. (Cloutier) Vaudreuil, 94, of 74 Grove St., died Sunday, December 3rd which was her late husband's birthday.

Her beloved husband, Roland J. Vaudreuil died in 1992. She leaves her loving daughter, Jeanne L. Tibbetts, and her husband Richard of Shrewsbury; a brother, Omer Cloutier of Titusville, FL; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lucille R. Vaudreuil in 1972 and by several sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Vaudreuil was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Joseph and Alma (Gemme) Cloutier and has lived in Shrewsbury for 18 years.

She retired from the R.J. Toomey Company, Worcester where she had worked for 26 years.

She was a member of Saint Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury and a former member of Saint Joseph's Church in Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 5th from 6 8:30 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Vaudreuil's memory can be made to the Patients Activity Fund at Radius Healthcare Center at Worcester, 119 Providence Street, Worcester, MA.

Mildred C. (Ott) Voosen Wassmer
March 31, 1916 - July 10, 2007

WORCESTER - Mildred C. (Ott) Voosen Wassmer, 91, formerly of Auburn, MA and Long Island, NY, died Tuesday in University Commons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Voosen, in 1967, and by her second husband, Henry Wassmer, in 1980.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. Edward W. Voosen of Auburn, her daughter, Barbara C. Policastro of Tarrytown, NY, a sister, Dolores Baumann of Harrington Park, NJ, a sister-in-law, Jean Ott, of Wantagh, NY, a sister-in-law, Ann Ott, of West Babylon, NY, and by 6 loving grandchildren and 9 adoring great grandchildren.
Mildred was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Schweitzer) Ott. She attended Jamaica high school after which she worked as a waitress in several New York City and Nassau area restaurants.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, in Auburn, and was a former member of Gloria Dei and Trinity Lutheran Churches in New York. At Trinity she was a member of the Mother's Club. She loved to play cards and had belonged to several card clubs. She also enjoyed dancing and deep sea fishing.
A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday July 15, 2007 in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue Auburn. A luncheon will be shared in the Voosen Parish Hall immediately following the service.
There will be no calling hours and a committal of her cremains will be at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 90 Bryn Mawr Ave. Auburn, MA 01501

LUCILLE E. RED TREE WALLEY
April 12, 1926 - November 2, 2006

Southbridge - Lucille E. Red Tree (Morse) Walley, 80, of School St., died Thursday, Nov. 2 at home. She leaves her children, Ralph White Bear Walley of Worcester; Bradley Reginald Big Tree Walley of Medway; Elizabeth Ann Cold Wind Kiser of San Diego, CA; Henry Sly Fox Walley of Worcester; Lucille Wild Flower Walley of Albany, NY; Dawn Marie Burning Bush Walley of Southbridge, and a large extended family including brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph E. Walley, her parents Charles E. and Elizabeth R. (Henries) Morse as well as a brother and sisters.

Edward H. Warren, Jr.
May 16, 1927 - February 27, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Edward H. Warren, Jr., 79, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Northborough, died Tuesday, February 27th in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Carolynn G. (Greenslit) Warren, a son, Bruce E. and his wife, Nancy Warren of Northborough; a daughter, Sharon L. Laine of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony, Jaclyn and several step grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Katie, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Howard Warren and two sisters, Hazel D'Alessandro and Mary Levero.

Edward was born in Northborough, son of the late Edward H. Warren, Sr. and Stella (Peel) Warren and had lived in Northborough most of his life before moving to Shrewsbury 14 years ago. Mr. Warren had served his country proudly with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Warren had worked as a machine operator for the former Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for 35 years before he retired in 1989. One of Edward's passions was gardening and especially tending to his vegetable garden which supplied his entire family with fresh vegetables throughout the summer.

Funeral services for Mr. Warren will be private and held at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.

Arthur C. Watt, II
June 4, 2006
ORANGE - Arthur C. Watt, II, 51, of Orange, died Sunday in his home after an illness.
He is survived by his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. and Viola (Gregarczyk) Watt, his children; Amy Watt, of Leicester, Arthur C. Watt, III, of Warren, his three grandchildren; Tyler, Calib, and Dylan, and he became excited about his newest grandchild, Kenzie who will arrive in November. Other members of his family include his sister; Donna M. Finizza and her husband Michael A. Finizza Jr. of Oxford, his brother, James A. Watt, and his wife Anne F. Watt, of Kansas City, MO.
He was born in Auburn and attended Auburn schools.
Mr. Watt was a Carpenter and avid woodworker; he worked for several area companies for many years.
He loved animals and the outdoors, especially fishing. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Douglas R. Waud, MD., D.Phil.
October 21, 1932 - March 20, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Douglas R. Waud, M.D., D. Phil., Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology at UMass Medical School, 73, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Newton, died Monday March 20th in his home.

Dr. Waud leaves his wife of 50 years, Barbara E. (Garwood) Waud of Shrewsbury, his daughters, Catherine E. Officer of Southborough and Karen B. Daukas of Shrewsbury; a brother, Donald A. Waud of Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada; also survived by two grandchildren, John and James Officer, a niece, and a nephew. He is predeceased by a son, David R. Waud.

He was born in London, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Russell and Mildred (Adams) Waud and had lived in Newton for several years before moving to Shrewsbury in 1976.

Dr. Waud received his Medical degree in 1956 from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada and his D.Phil. Degree from the University of Oxford in England. Dr. Waud was a Professor for the Department of Pharmacology at the UMASS Medical School from 1974 until his retirement in October of 1997.

He was a member of the Worcester Linux User's Group and the American Association for Advancement of Science.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dr. Waud's family on Wednesday, March 22nd from 7-9 PM and also Thursday, March 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the BrittonShrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24th at 11 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury, MA. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Easter Seals MA, 484 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, 30 Ennis Road, North Oxford, MA 01537.
