Albin P. Skamarock
August 11, 2003

WORCESTER - Albin P. Skamarock 82, of 100 Moreland St., formerly of 16 Ashmont Ave., died August 11 in St. Vincent Hospital.

He leaves two sisters, Helen E. Seymour of Clinton and Rita F. Skamarock of Worcester and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, John Kasheta, Anthony Skamarock and John Skamarock. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of William and Benigna (Luksis) Skamarock.

Mr. Skamarock was a snowplow operator many years for Mass. Dept. of Public Works – Mass Highway and retired several years ago. He was an Army veteran of WW II and served in Normandy, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School.

He was a member of Our Lady of Vilna Church and the PNI Club.

The funeral will be held on Thursday August 14 from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., (www.worcesterfuneral.com) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Vilna Church 151 Sterling St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Mary E. Paika
August 15, 2003

WORCESTER - Mary E. (Culhane) Paika, 83, of 36 Shaffner St., died Friday August 15 in her home.

Her husband of 59 years, Francis J. Paika, Sr., died May 4, 2000.

She leaves two sons, Francis J. Paika, Jr., of Worcester and Michael J. Paika of Shrewsbury; a brother, Maurice Culhane of Worcester; one grandson and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Annie (Hines) Culhane and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Paika was an accounting clerk for many years working at Heald Machine, then for Rice Barton Co., and later Thom McAn Co., retiring in 1985. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Mrs. Paika was a longtime member of St. Bernards Church and many years ago was a cub scout den mother.

A private committal service will be held Tuesday August 19 in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St. There are no calling hours. Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St. is directing arrangements.

Mary A. Duggan
April 09, 2004

WORCESTER - Mary A. (Gircys) Duggan, 74, of 113 Perry Ave., died Friday April 9 in her home.

She leaves a son, Robert J. Duggan of Worcester; a brother, Alfonsas Gircys of Seminole, Fl., a sister, Birute Zenkus of Worcester, two grandchildren, Michael and Kristina and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. She was born in Birzai, Lithuania, daughter of Antanas and Valerija (Pranckunas) Gircys and has lived in Worcester since 1949.

Mrs. Duggan worked soldering metal parts several years for David Clark Co., and retired in 1991. Before then she worked for Table Talk Pie Co., and Bee Plastics Co. She was a member of St. Casimir’s Church and enjoyed dancing, reading and cooking. Mrs. Duggan was educated in Lithuania.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday April 13 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir’s Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL SERVICE, 33 Ward St., is directing funeral arrangements.

Mary Ann Zinkievich
April 13, 2004

Sutton - Mary Ann (Mendys) Zinkievich, 66, of 497 Boston Rd., died Tuesday, April 13, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a struggle with cancer.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, Noel N. Zinkievich; a son, Robert Zinkievich of Webster; two daughters, Jennifer Ogle of Worcester and Susan Hebert of Sutton; 4 grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Apolina (Wojnarowicz) Mendys. Mary Ann graduated from St. Mary’s High School and Salter Secretarial School.

Mary Ann was a medical secretary, working at St. Vincent Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital, and the UMass Medical Center. Before retiring in 2001, she completed her career as a Residency Coordinator for Drs. Nash and Reale at UMass Medical School.

She was an avid reader, enthusiastic gardener, but most of all a loving family member.

A funeral Mass for Mary Ann will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Candace M. Scola

Worcester - Candace M. "Candy" (Allen) Scola, 32, of 3 Knox Street, died Friday, July 5, at home.

She leaves her husband, Anthony J. Scola; her parents, James G. Allen Jr. and Constance M. (Morin) Allen, of Montville, Maine; a brother, James G. Allen III of Washington, DC; three sisters, Christine M. Allen of Punta Gorda, FL, Celeste I. Allen of Woonsocket, RI, and Catherine E. Wailgum of Boston; a step-son, Anthony J. "A.J." Scola, Jr. of Worcester; her maternal grandparents, Adelard G. Morin and Theresa M. (Hebert) Guilmette Morin of North Oxford; a niece, Emma C. Wailgum of Boston; 2 aunts; 3 uncles; cousins. She was born in Worcester, and lived in Leicester many years before moving to Worcester.

Mrs. Scola graduated from Leicester High School. She attended Becker College and was attending Worcester State College.

Mrs. Scola was a judicial secretary in the judges lobby of the Worcester Juvenile Court.

She enjoyed painting watercolors, gardening, flowers, and cooking.

The funeral will be held Friday, July 12, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the YWCA Daybreak Program, P.O. Box 3093, Worcester, MA 01613.

Maria Rosario
July 19, 2002

WORCESTER - Maria (Molina) Rosario, 81, of 36 Coral St., died Friday July 19th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, 119 Belmont St.

Her husband of 51 years, Jose Rosario died in 1990. She leaves four sons, Jose M. Rosario and Victor Rosario both of Worcester and Danny Rosario and Louis Rosario both of Puerto Rico; three daughters, Maritza Rosario and Carmen Rosario both of Worcester and Mercedes Rosario of Puerto Rico; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Rafael Rosario and Francisco M. Rosario, Sr., and by a daughter, Maria P. Rosario. She was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico, daughter of Demetrio and Maria (Rivera) Molina and was later raised by Bartolo and Pilar Gonzalez. She has resided in Worcester 28 years.

Mrs. Rosario was a member of St. Pau's Cathedral Parish. She enjoyed playing bingo.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday July 23rd, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Pauls Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday July 22nd from 7 to 9 p.m.

Donna M. Quill
April 14, 2003

WORCESTER - Donna M. (Goodale) Quill, 59, of 19 Mason St., died Monday April 14 in her home.

She leaves her husband, William Quill of Spencer; a brother, Lawrence R. Goodale of Worcester; two sisters, Roberta C. Tulloch and Mary L. Chauncey both of Worcester and nephews and nieces. A sister, Diane A. MacRae of Worcester died in 1989. She was born in Millinocket, Maine, daughter of Robert E. and Alma K. (Swenson) Goodale and was raised in Maine. She has lived in Worcester since 1965.

Mrs. Quill was a homemaker. She was graduated from Bangor High School, Bangor, Maine.

The funeral will be held on Friday April 18 with a service at 11 a.m. in Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Friday April 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Disease Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, 02140.

Marinol Dolengiewicz

WORCESTER - Marinol Dolengiewicz, 90, of 29 Tahanto Rd., formerly of 85 Houghton St., died Thursday April 3 in UMASS - Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, 55 Lake Ave North.
His wife, Rose (Waterson) Dolengiewicz died in 1987.

He leaves a stepson, Robert Waterson of Navarre, Florida; nine grandchildren, including Catherine Troy of Worcester who was his caregiver and with whom he resided; nineteen grandchildren, including Timothy Troy and James Carey with whom he lived, two great great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. A daughter, Regina Bissnette of Claremont, Florida died in 1996. Another daughter, Lucille L. Lovell of Worcester died in 2000. A brother, Louie Dolengiewicz of Millbury died in 1999. He was born in Poland, son of John and Bronislaza (Stpsulkowski) Dolengiewicz and lived here for most of his life.

Mr. Dolengiewicz was a maintenance mechanic 60 years for White Cleaners and retired in 1997. He was graduated from Commerce High School.

Mr. Dolengiewicz was a former member of St. Stephens Church. He enjoyed sports including baseball and also enjoyed the lottery, sitting in the sun, his cat Christmas and his beer.

The funeral will be held on Monday April 7 at 10:30 a.m. in Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St. Entombment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday April 6 from 5 - 8 p.m.

Anna O. Slema

WORCESTER - Anna O. (Matuska) Slema, 96, of St. Francis Home, 101 Plantation St., formerly of 91 Penn Ave., died Wednesday April 2 in the home.
Her husband, Augustinas Slema died in 1982.

She leaves a son-in-law, Bronius Skrabulis and a grandson, Andrius B. Skrabulis both of Walpole. Her daughter, Hilda A. Skrabulis of Walpole died in 2001. She was born and raised in Giskenai, Lithuania, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kasparas Matuska and had lived in Worcester since 1949.

Mrs. Slema was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Casimirs Church and was formerly active with its church sodalities.

The funeral will be held on Saturday April 5 from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimirs Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday April 4 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Robert A. Ceppi
April 13, 2003

WORCESTER - Robert A. Ceppi, 74, of 130 Delmont Ave., died Sunday April 13 in Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Theresa M. (Lapierre) Ceppi, a son, Robert J. Ceppi of Spencer; two daughters, Diane T. Barter of Berlin and Linda M. Warner of Spencer; a brother, Roger J. Ceppi of Worcester; a sister, Elda M. Ceppi of Worcester; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Gemma (Blotto) Ceppi and lived here all his life.

Mr. Ceppi was a glazier for National Glass Co. and then Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., working 45 years before retiring in 1990.

He was a retired Master Sergeant with 24 years of service with the 212th E.I.S. Squadron of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

Mr. Ceppi was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and was a life member of Alhambra Council 88, Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Glaziers and Glassworkers local 1044. He was graduated from Commerce High School.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday April 16 from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 12:15 p.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday April 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to UMBF Inc, University of Maryland, Baltimore, Brain & Tissue Bank, 655 W. Baltimore St., 10 - 035 BRB, Baltimore, MD., 21201.

Edith M. Butler

Auburn - Edith M. (Woll) Butler, 89, of 669 Washington Street, formerly of 129 Central Street, died Friday, April 4, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.

Her husband, William O. Butler Sr., died in 1986. She leaves three sons, David W. Butler of Etna, California, H. Stephen Butler of Wilmington, VT, and William O. Butler Jr., of Spotsylvania, Virginia; a daughter, Merryl B. Chabot of South Attleboro; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Bradford L. Butler of Auburn, and a brother, Arthur Woll of Millbury, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Gustaf and Charlotte (Edmund) Woll and lived here 55 years. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Butler was a music teacher for the City of Worcester Public Schools for many years. She was an antique dealer in Sturbridge and Auburn for 20 years.

She was a friend of the First Congregational Church of Auburn. She was a member and past matron of the Pakachoag Order of the Eastern Star #244, a past master and lecturer of the Auburn Grange #60, the Worcester Central Pomona, was past president of the Mary D. Stone School P.T.A., past president of the Golden Years Club, past president of the 224 O.E.S. She was a member of the Worcester Music Festival Chorus, and a charter member of the Worcester County Light Opera Club, and designed its costumes for many years. She was a Sunday School teacher at the First Congregational Church of Auburn and Oxford Methodist Church, and was a soloist at the former Salem Square Congregational Church.

Mrs. Butler was the resident pianist at the Lodge at Eddy Pond, playing daily for the past 2 1/2 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 35 School Street. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Quinsigamond Corps, 884 Millbury Street, Worcester, MA 01607. Doris O. Roy

WORCESTER - Doris O. (Lacroix) Roy, 82, formerly of 91 Farrar Ave., died Saturday May 24, in St. Francis Home, 101 Plantation St.
Her husband of 51 years, Alfred E. Roy, Jr., died in 1992. She leaves two sons, Philip A. Roy of Shrewsbury and Alfred E. Roy of Worcester; a daughter, Elaine F. Boucher of Auburn; six grandchildren, Christopher P. Boucher, Brian J. Boucher, Michael J. Boucher, Timothy P. Roy, Ashlyn Roy and Tanner Roy; and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Jeanne M. Roy of Worcester died in 1949. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Noah L. and Roseanna (Foisy) Lacroix and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Roy was a homemaker. She observed her 82nd birthday on Friday. She was a member of St. Josephs Church and its former Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday May 27 from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 5 Salem Square at Worcester Common. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday May 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Disease Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, Ma., 02140.

Anele Maskeliunas
May 24, 2003

WEBSTER - Anele (Baliunas) Maskeliunas, 77, of Golden Heights, died Saturday May 24 in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster.
Her husband of 52 years, Julius Maskeliunas died in 2001. She leaves two daughters, Sabina M. Spratt of Worcester and Nijola B. Price of Webster; three grandsons, one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. She was born and raised in Kybartai, Lithuania, daughter of Vincus and Anna (Bendoraitis) Baliunas. She lived in Worcester for 39 years and has lived in Webster since 1990.

Mrs. Maskeliunas was a packer and inspector five years for Astra Pharmaceutical Co., and retired in 1973. Before then she worked several years for Table Talk Pie Co. She was educated in Lithuania.

She was a member of St. Casimirs Church, Worcester and was a former member of Our Lady of Vilna Church, Worcester. She was also a member of the Lithuanian Charitable Society; the Lithuanian National Guard and the Lithuanian American Roman Catholic Womens Alliance, Chapter 5.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 28 from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester with a Mass at 1:00 p.m. in St. Casimirs Church, 41 Providence St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday May 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Phyllis G. Richards

LEICESTER - Phyllis G. (Healey) Richards, 71, of 1073 Main St., died Tuesday June 3 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, 20 Worcester Center Blvd., Worcester.
Her husband of 42 years, Arthur L. Richards died in 2000.

She leaves a son, Anthony P. Richards of Spencer; four daughters, Ruthann Fancy of West Boylston; Kathleen M. Racine and Mary L. Johnson both of Lancaster and Angela J. Valinski of Worcester; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. A sister, Patricia Russell of Clinton died before her. She was born in Burlington, Vermont, daughter of Percy and Alberta Healey and later lived in Lancaster and Hubbardston before moving to Leicester last year.

Mrs. Richards was a quality control inspector several years for the Nypro Company, Clinton and retired six years ago. She was graduated from Clinton High School.

Mrs. Richards was a member of the Church of Christ, Lancaster. She was a volunteer for the Leicester Senior Center and was a Meals on Wheels program volunteer. She was an avid Country & Western fan.

A Gathering of friends will be held on Monday June 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester. A service will be held during the gathering. Burial will be private in St. Johns Cemetery, Lancaster.
