Dora (Venditti) Nocella, 89 of Somerville died Monday in the Somerville Hospital Somerville, MA.

Born in Cambridge, she lived in Somerville for the past 60 years and was the daughter of the late Olindo and Giovanna (Marsigli) Venditti.

Mrs. Novella was a home maker and late member of the Ralph and Jen Community Center, in Somerville

Beloved wife of the late Albert Nocella. Devoted mother of Rosemarie Lavore and her husband Philip, Alberta Szathmary and her husband Murray all of Somerville, Carol Metrano and her husband Lee of Reading, Rita Gilson and her husband Robert of Wakefield, Linda Marino and her husband Francis of Bedford, Nancy Angelesco and her husband Connie of Medford. Also survived by 17 loving grandchildren and 18 loving great grandchildren. Sister of Eleanor DiNitto of Somerville, and John Venditti of Burlington.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 10 AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 9.

Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Dora’s memory to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

William F. "Bill" Hickey
October 01, 2003

Mr. William F. “Bill” Hickey, age 75, a life long resident of Somerville, passed away Wednesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford, following a brief illness. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late William J. and Ellen C. (Gaffey) Hickey. He was the beloved husband of fifty-four years to Lois P. (Fitzgerald). Mr. Hickey worked for 43 years as a court officer for Middlesex County. He retired as the Chief Court Officer in 1991. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Hickey was devoted to his family and also enjoyed golfing and traveling. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Catherine of Genoa Church Restoration Fund, 179 Summer St. Somerville, MA 02143 or to the charity of your choice.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kathy Dangora of Somerville, Ellen DiMinico of Woburn, Mary Gentile of Melrose, and six sons, Bill Jr. of Somerville, Don of Woburn, Tom of Maynard, Steve of Virginia, Rob of Bedford and Jim of Florida. He is also survived by twelve loving grandchildren.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Saturday at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St. Somerville at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 9. Interment Private.

Helen (Venuti) Hubbard
October 01, 2003

Helen T. (Venuti) Hubbard, 96, A lifelong Medford resident, died Wednesday at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center.

Mrs. Hubbard was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Anna (Miagro) Venuti.

Helen worked many years at the Hotel Sonesta in Cambridge. She was an animal enthusiast and enjoyed cats and dogs.

She was the devoted mother of Joseph Risso and his wife Karen of Hull. She was a loving grandmother to 4 and great grandmother to 3. She was the dear aunt of Genevieve Capozzoli of Medford, Ronald Capozzoli of Falmouth and Ft. Lauderdale, Robert Capozzoli of Boca Raton.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Friday, October 3, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Joshua William Prince
January 18, 2003

Joshua William Prince, passed away at his home in Medford on Saturday, born in Malden he was the son of Gretchen (Sousa) of Medford and John Prince of New Hampsire. He was 17 years of age.
Joshua was a life long Medford resident, a graduate of St. Clement Elementary school and was attending the Medford Vocational High School. He enjoyed playing baseball and being with his many friends.

In addition to his parents he is surrvived by two brothers Jake and Jesse. He is the grandson of Barbara O´Connor of Medford and Elaine Prince of New Hampshire. The nephew of Steve Sousa, Eugene and Eric O´Connor all of Medford.

The great nephew of Sally Dempsey of Needham, William Gibbons of Winthrop and John Gibbons of Belmont. He also is survived by many loving cousins and friends.

His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral home 306 Main St. Medford, on Thursday, January 23, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Jospeh Church 118 High St. Medford at 11.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, on Wednesday from 4 thru 8.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy be sent in his memory to the South Medford Little League, P.O. Box 81, Medford, MA 02155

Danny Patrick Nunes
January 20, 2004

Danny P. Nunes, age 17, a life long resident of Somerville and student at Somerville High School, passed away Tuesday at the Somerville Hospital. Born in Cambridge he was the son of Maria M. Nunes and Patrick J. Hayes III both of Somerville. Danny was an eleventh grade student at Somerville High School and was employed part time at the Harvard University Dining Services. He enjoyed baseball and hanging around with his girlfriend and thier friends. He also loved being with his family and loved children and his younger cousins. Danny was a strong presence, always smiling and was the center of attention at many family gatherings especially to his younger cousins.

In addition to his parents, Danny is survived by his his brother and sisters, Patrick Hayes IV, Stacie Hayes and Justyn Collier, grandparents Anibal and Noemia Nunes of Somerville. His motheris fiance Steve Medeiros of Somerville. Uncles, Fernando Nunes of New Hampshire and Tony Nunes of Somerville, Aunts, Lucy and Maria Nunes both of Somerville, Elizabeth Anzeloni, Virginia Hayes, Theresa Hayes, Christine Samone and Jane Hayes. He is also survived by his cousins Derek, Justine, Jackie, Shayne, Benjamin, Sydney, Gabriella, and Victoria. Danny is further survived by his girlfriend Shanna Peters.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Saturday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church 399 Medford St. Somerville, at 10 AM. Arthur Bimbo
March 31, 2002

Arthur Bimbo, 88, of Medford, a musician, Died March 31, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Concord. Mr. Bimbo was born in Boston and grew up in Medford where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Medford High School and went to St. John Prep School.

He began his love for music while in High School and began studying music and reed instruments, with his emphasis on tenor saxaphone. He became a member of the Boston Muscians Union and began playing the saxaphone as a full time profession.

One of his earliest gigs was playing at the Izzy Orts Night Club in Boston. He then went on to play the big bands spending several years with Artie Shaw band and the Vaugn Monroe Orchestra. While with Artie Shaw band he flew in bomber planes to play for the USO. He also backed up Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Mills Brothers and played clarinet solo, Rhapsody in Blue, at Carnegie Hall New York.

The last twelve years of his career was spent playing saxaphone with Mike Gaylord orchestra at the Blinstrubs Village nightclub in Boston, Here he played saxaphone and becames friends with the great names such as Louie Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Patti Page, Jimmy Durante and many other great performers.

He leaves his two sons, Arthur W. Bimbo of Poinciana, Florida and Kenneth D. Bimbo of Boynton Beach Florida. His daughter Suzanne O´Meara of Hilo, Hawaii, six grandchildren, Maria, Jonathan, Tammy, Christine, Matthew, and Melissa and eleven great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass in celebration of his life at St. James Church 779 Fellsway Medford on Wednesday, April 3, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Arrangements by the Dello Russo Funeral Home

Anna Murray
April 16, 2004

Anna M. (Agresti) Murray, a long-time ceramics instructor, died Friday at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 61.

Anna was born and raised in Somerville, the daughter of Salvatore and Mary (Dellano) Agresti. After her marriage to Ronald Murray they settled in Medford. The couple recently moved to Stoneham. Anna was a well-known ceramics teacher. For many years she gave classes from her home and from her shops, A & R Ceramics and Decor Ceramics. For the past ten years she worked with the City of Medford and offered classes in ceramics in the local senior citizens housing.

Anna is survived by her husband, Ronald Murray. She also leaves her daughter Kimberley Frattaroli and her husband Lou, and a son Mark Murray and his wife Sheri. Anna was a proud “grammy” to Kaitlyn, Mark, Miranda and Joey. She also leaves her dear brother Anthony Agresti.

Friends and relatives may visit with the family Tuesday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Wednesday at 10 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. James Church, Medford. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.

Rose T. Ciampaglia
April 18, 2004

Rose T. (DeMango) Ciampaglia, a long-time Medford resident, died Sunday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Ciampaglia was born and raised in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Pasquale and the late Filomena (Simone) DeMango. She resided in Medford for over 50 years and was dedicated to the care of her family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John C. Ciampaglia. She leaves one daughter: Theresa Ascolillo of Medford, and three sons: Charles Ciampaglia of Medford, John R. Ciampaglia of Ashland, Thomas Ciampaglia of Burlington. Rose also leaves her grandchildren Andrea, John C., Rosa, John D. and her siblings Isabella DiCarlo of Medford, and Sergio DiMango of Tewksbury.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 55 Winthrop Street, Medford, Thursday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Rose´s name to The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th FL, Att: Contributions Services, Brookline, MA 02445.

Paul Miele
April 26, 2004

Paul Miele, age 89, of Tewksbury passed away Monday in the Saints Memorial Medical Center Lowell after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Miele was born in Somerville, the son of the late Marco and Vincenza (Decellis) Miele. He retired from the First National Warehouse Maintenance Dept. after 31 years. He was a supporter of the Pine St. Inn and Boys Town. Enjoyed the track (Dogs & Horses), “ Didn’t bet much or lose too much.” Paul took extreme pride in his garden and he and his wife Anna spent time together ballroom dancing. His children described him as a “Devote” father, who loved his family.

He is survived by seven Loving children: Paul and his wife Mary Ann of Orlando, FL, Michael of Illinois, Nicholas of Lowell, Richard and his wife Mary of Somerville, Ann Marie Miele of Somerville, Barbara Muolo and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, Rita Miele and her husband Mark McGlinchey of Tewksbury. Also survived by 15 loving grandchildren and 9 loving great grandchildren, and a dear brother Nicholas Miele of Peabody.

Catena Carnazzo
April 26, 2004

Mrs. Catena Carnazzo, age 89, passed away in her home Monday following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Lucia (Razza) and Paolo Salamone. She was the beloved wife of the late Michele Carnazzo. Mrs. Carnazzo was a Somerville resident for fifty-seven years formerly of Boston´s North End and Sicily. She worked for many years as a hand stitcher and finisher in Boston´s garment district. She was a member of the International Ladies garment Workers Union. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Catena´s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Assoc. 36 Cameron Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140

In addition to her late husband and parents, Mrs. Carnazzo is preceded in death by her son Michael Carnazzo, two brothers, Peter and Angelo Salamone, and one sister, Bridget Lombardo. She is survived by three sons, Joseph of Somerville, Paul of Lowell, Peter of Pelham, NH. Three daughters, Lucy Chiarello, Caroline “Nina” Collerone and Bridget Pugliese all of Somerville. She is also survived by thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Charlie Salamone of Wakefield and many other relatives in Italy.

Geraldine Donovan
April 26, 2004

Geraldine M. (Leahy) Donovan, died Monday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was 61.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Paul and the late Marion (Smith) Leahy. Geraldine was a lifelong Medford resident. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother.

She was the beloved companion of the late Warren Zaniboni. She was a devoted mother to Donna McDonough and her husband Tim, Justine Zaniboni all of South Boston, Deanna Zaniboni of Everett, Peter Zaniboni and his wife Staci of Winchester and the late Jennifer Zaniboni. Geraldine was a loving grandmother to Susan, Timmy, Steven, Jennifer, Ryan, Rachael, Sara, Drea and a loving great grandmother of Jake. She leaves her dear friends Beverly and Frank Gillis of Woburn, Sisters Dorothy Kosek of OH, Eileen Rienald of Medford, Patricia Quinlan of FL and late brothers Paul and James Leahy.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 9 AM, Friday in St. Clement Church, Medford. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Friends may call Thursday from 4 – 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home.

Ada E. Prescott
March 21, 2004

Ada E. (Carlson) Prescott, better known as "Sandy" Prescott, died peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2004 at the Sippican Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Philip T. Prescott.

Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Capt. John and Evelyn Carlson, both immigrants from Sweden in 1910. She graduated from Abbott Academy in 1934, married in 1942, and moved to Marion and Tabor Academy with her family in 1956 from Westford. She stayed at home raising her children for several years until taking a position as the School Secretary at Sippican Elementary School.

Prior to her retirement in 1981 she was employed as the secretary to the President of Sippican Corporation in Marion.

She was an active volunteer with the Tobey Hospital Guild and manned the hospital's Front Desk on Sunday afternoons for many years, advising, consoling and directing visitors. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Marion for almost 50 years. She was a quiet supporter of many local organizations, not looking for public recognition. Gardening, bird watching, reading and golf were her retirement joys.

She traveled with the Eastern Star across the state representing the Agawam Chapter #121 as Past Worthy Matron, 1976-1977.

Survivors include her children; Nancy Feeney of New Bedford, Peter & Karen Prescott of South Berwick, Maine, and Chip and Julie Prescott of Lady Lake, Florida; her grandchildren, Meghan and Erin Feeney of New Bedford, Stephanie, Glenn and Kelly Prescott of Marion; Timothy and Steven Prescott of Maine and four great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the waters off Ned's Point Lighthouse in Mattapoisett. This was her favorite place to drink coffee, feed the sea gulls, watch the wind surfers, and admire the sunsets. She had read once that "to scatter ashes upon the water frees the soul and allows a new life to begin". A Memorial Service will be held in May for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to the Mattapoisett Tree Planting Committee, P.O. Box 435, Mattapoisett, Ma. 02739 for a tree to be planted in her memory at Ned's Point Park.

Alma Rose MacDonald
April 19, 2004

Alma Rose MacDonald, age 84 of Medford, passed Monday in the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. MacDonald was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Ann (Lepore) Mattola.

She retired as a Machine Operator after 30 years from First National Warehouse in Somerville. Alma was described as the glue that held the family together. Her true passion was her home, she enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and it was said that alma made the best pizza around. After marrying and moving to Medford, she became a Saint Joseph church member.

She is survived by her husband Somerled, four loving sisters: Theresa DiGiacomo of AZ, Mafalda Tarzia of Somerville, Lydia Pasqual of Waltham, and Annette Dennis of Arlington, dearest nieces: Gale Fanciullo, Diane Dennis and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 10 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 . Marilyn C. Clark
April 19, 2004

Marilyn C. Clark, 71 of Malden formerly of Melrose died Monday peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Melrose she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Katherine (Twohig) Corcoran. Mrs. Clark was married for 52 years to Richard Clark. She was a Dental Receptionist.

Beloved wife of Richard Clark. Devoted mother of Robert Clark and his wife Ali of St. Johnsbury, VT, Barbara Ghilian and her husband John of Malden, Patricia Brook and her husband David of Beverly. Also survived by 5 loving grandchildren and a loving great grandson. Sister of Robert Corcoran of Wilmington, Donald Corcoran of Melrose, Patricia Fitzgerald of Stoneham, and the late Edmund Corcoran, and Eleanor Muise.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service Friday April 23 at 11:30 AM in the Forest Dale Cemetery, 150 Forest St., Malden.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Marilyn’s memory to Hospice Care, 41 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA 02180.
