James J. DiMare
April 22, 2004

Mr. James J. DiMare, age 82, died Thursday morning, April 22 at the VNA Middlesex East Hospice House of Reading after a lengthy illness. Born in Boston he was a Burlington resident for the last 2 years, formerly of Medford and the West End of Boston. Mr. DiMare worked as a Machinist for many years at the Avco Co. of Everett, retiring in 1987.

Mr. DiMare was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946. He was also a member of the Armstrong Club of the West End of Boston. Mr. DiMare was survived by his Beloved wife Rose C. (Gattuso) DiMare, Devoted father of Joseph J. DiMare of Burlington, and Gerald M. DiMare of Medford. Loving Grandfather of Gioia G. DiMare. Brother of Mary DiMare of Boston, Domenic DiMare, and Frances Matara both of Somerville, Joseph DiMare of CA, the late Josephine DiMare, John DiMare, and Sam DiMare. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.

Anna Nannini
April 22, 2004

Anna Nannini, age 80, of Burlington formerly of Somerville passed away Thursday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a lengthy illness. Born in Italy she was the daughter of the late Augusta (Masina) and Vittorio Roncarati. She was the beloved wife of Enzo Nannini. Anna worked for over twenty years as a physics scanner with the Tufts University Physics Lab. She enjoyed cooking and being with her family. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made in Anna´s memory to the American heart Assoc. 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.

In addition to her beloved husband, Anna is survived by her daughter, Marinella Ursino and her husband Benito of Medford, sons George Nannini and his wife Elizabeth, Sandro Nannini and his wife Angela, all of Florida. She was the loving grandmother of Paul Ursino, Rosanne Klovee, Sherri Morales, Peter, Sandro and Christopher Nannini. She is also survived by four loving great grandchildren and her sister, Luisa Frabetti of Italy.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombemnt at the Woodlawn cemetery Mausoleum, Everett.

Katie Scalisi
April 24, 2004

Salvatora “Katie” Scalisi, a long-time Medford resident, died Saturday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 91.

Born and raised in Boston’s West End, she was the daughter of the late Ignazio and the late Francesca (Pusateri) Scalisi.

Katie settled in Medford over 40 years ago after leaving the West End. Since her high school years, Katie worked as a stitcher with the former G&L; Manufacturing Company, Boston. She stayed with the one firm untill her retirement.

She was the sister of the late Josephine, Gussie, Frances, Michael, Anthony and Ignatius Scalisi. Katie was a loving aunt to Frances Silvestro, Ignatius, Robert, John, Anthony, and Michael Scalisi. She is also survived by many loving great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Medford Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 – 9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Boston Catholic TV Center, 55 Chapel St., P.O. Box 9109, Newtonville, MA 02158.

Giuseppina Fazio
August 15, 2003

Giuseppina Fazio, died Friday at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center. She was 93.

Mrs. Fazio was born and raised in Augusta, Sicily, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Virginia DeLuca.

Mrs. Fazio arrived in the United States in November of 1962. She soon moved to Somerville and then settled in Medford, where she lived for many years. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her 13 children.

Her husband Salvatore died in 1968. She leaves her children: Adalgisa Costanzo of Medford, Aurora DiSalvo of Medford, Isolina Gianino of Belmont, Vittorio Fazio of Malden, Umberto Fazio of Somerville, Costantino Fazio of Revere, Enrico Fazio of NH, Annita Gianino of FL, Letizia Bordonaro of Italy, Virginia Poli of Italy, Leonarda Patania of Venezuela and the late Giovanni and Giuseppe Fazio. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call Monday from 2 thru 9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, Tuesday at 10:00 am.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Adeline Pomponio
August 13, 2002

Adeline Pomponio, passed away at the Lawence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness, the wife of the late Albert J. Pomponio she was 91 years old.
Born and raised in Boston she was the daughter of the late Marianna (Ferrara) and Guiseppe Farinella. She was a former member of the Santa Maria Lodge of the Daughters of Italy and loved playing cards and bingo with her friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son Louis Pomponio. Surviving are a daughter Annette LaBerge of Hawai, and a son Joseph Pomponio of Georgia, two grandchildren Nicole LaBerge and Nicholas Pomponio.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, on Monday August 19, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church 71 Warner St. Somerville at 10.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 thru 9.

Lawton, C.S.C. of North Easton, Margaret Ofria of Connecticut, Richard N. Lawton, Framingham, Mary O’Malley of Concord, Sheila W. Stewart and Retired Judge James R. Lawton of Brockton. She is also survived by Attorney John F. McCaig of Duxbury and Brenda Twohig Wiksten of Brockton. Aunt of the late Frederick H. Lawton.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Winifred I. (Twohig) Whynot, wife of the late Carl Whynot died on January 31, 2002, at St. Joseph Manor in Brockton after a lengthy illness. She was 97 years of age.

Born in the City of Cork, Ireland on October 23, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katharine (Long) Twohig. She was a resident of Brockton in her early years and lived in St. Petersburg, Florida until her move to Marshfield approximately ten years ago.

She was educated in Brockton Public Schools, and was employed at the Choate School in Connecticut for many years and was employed as a security officer at the Fore River Shipyard during World War II.

She was the youngest of the Twohig children and was the sister of the late Katherine McCaig of Marshfield, Emily Twohig, Margaret Bryce and Christine Lawton all of Brockton, Susan Graffam of Quincy and the late Nathaniel Twohig of Marshfield, Thomas Twohig and Charles Twohig of Brockton.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews including Reverend Thomas E. Lawton, C.S.C. of North Easton, Margaret Ofria of Connecticut, Richard N. Lawton of Framingham, Mary O’Malley of Concord, Sheila W. Stewart and Retired Judge James R. Lawton of Brockton. Aunt of the late Frederick H. Lawton. She is also survived by Attorney John F. McCaig of Duxbury and Brenda Towhig Wiksten of Brockton.

Mrs. Dorgan died Tuesday evening at St. Joseph’s Manor after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, daughter of the late Michael J. and Abby (Sullivan) Donahue. Life long resident of Brockton. Graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1933. She was a homemaker who chose to stay home to raise her family. Long time parishioner of St. Colman Church. a former daily communicant and a member of the Ladies Sodality.

She is survived by 2 daughters Anne Farrell of Kingston and Jane Starinskas of Whitman and W. Yarmouth. 2 Sons John J. “Joe” Dorgan of Brockton and Robert E. Dorgan of Carver. 5 Grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and Several nieces and nephews. Wife of the late John J. Dorgan, Sr. Sister of the late John, Michael, William, Patrick and Daniel Donahue.

Obituary Information

John A. Tierney, 82 years, a resident of Matfield Woods, West Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died Sunday at Brockton Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Loretta (Serlenga) Tierney, to whom he was married for 56 years.

He was born in Brockton on January 24, 1920, the son of the late James and Mary (Butler) Tierney. He attended Brockton schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He retired from New England Telephone Company after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and an honorary member of the Bertocci Memorial Club in Brockton. He enjoyed golf, travel, and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Barbara J. Olivieri and her husband John K. of Lakeville, John A. Tierney Jr. and his wife Vanessa J. of Scituate, and William J. Tierney of Easton, and his sister Kathleen Clancy of Brockton. He also leaves eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late James and William Tierney, Mary Flynn, Helen Gaudette and Patricia Connell.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at St. Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater at 9am, followed by his burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. W. Bridgewater.

Harold S. Johnson
June 16, 2002

Harold S. Johnson, 79 years, of Whitman, died Sunday at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, Randolph, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Arthur and Martha (Mayers) Johnson. Mr. Johnson had been a resident of Portsmouth, VA since 1943, moving to Whitman two years ago. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy. After the war he was employed as an electrician at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth VA, retiring in 1974. He was the husband of the late Martha (Hardy) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by 4 nieces Candice C. Mantell, Melissa Gordon, Jolene Letourneau, and Marisa Johnson, and 3 nephews Jamison, Matthew and Ryan Letourneau

He was the brother of the late James, Robert, Joseph and Raymond Johnson and Evelyn Doran

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Albert T. Kenneally

Mr. Kenneally died Sunday evening at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. He was born and raised in Whitman son of the late John H. and Mary (Downey) Kenneally and was the last survivor of their twelve children. Since 1950 he has been a resident of Brockton.

Mr. Kenneally was a retired employee of the former Hall Motors and the former Main Line Plymouth-Chrysler both in Brockton.

He was a former member of Irelands Own and a former resident at the Campello High Rise.

He is survived by a step daughter Joanne Webber of Brockton and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Husband of the late Lottie (Reams) Kenneally.

Mary died Sunday morning at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Sol E. and Lillian (Fidler) Aaron. She was raised in Charlestown, attending Charlestown schools, and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. She enjoyed politics and in the early 1960’s she was a delegate to the Democratic Convention. She had been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Tax Department and then for the City of Boston School Department as a secretary, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed Bingo and trips to the Raynham Dog Track.

She is survived by two daughters Noni O’Shea and Geraldine M. Peterson both of Brockton and one son John F. Cuddy, III of Sandwich, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and one brother Robert Aaron of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the sister of the late Edward, Walter and Arthur Aaron, Mildred Murphy, Dorothea Collins and Lillian Aaron.

Carlos died Monday at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a lengthy illness. Born in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico, he was a son of Carlos and Evangelina (Boria) Arriaga. He had been a resident of Brockton for 15 years, and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his parents Carlos and Evangelina (Boria) Arriaga of Brockton, 4 children, Jailene, Angel, Kiara and Joshua Arriaga. 1 brother, 3 sisters, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his grandfather Eleuterio Boria of Brockton

Mrs. Haskins - Delizarza died Monday unexpectedly at her home in Onset. She was born in Brockton daughter of the late Charles F. and Margaret A. (Tupper) Harkins. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and the Chandler School for Women, Boston. She had worked for Joe King Insurance before joining the US Foreign Service. She served as a secretary for the Foreign Services in Madrid, Spain, Sweden and Russia. She enjoyed the beaches of Onset with her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one brother Donald J. Harkins of Brockton, 26 nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles F. Harkins Jr., Gerald J. Harkins Sr. and Dennis S. Harkins
