James M. Boles

...truck driver from Tewksbury; 53

TEWKSBURY - James M. “Jim” Boles, age 53, a former truck driver, died Thursday, Mar. 25, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after a year long battle with cancer.

He was born in Everett, MA, Oct. 8, 1950, the son of Everett W. Boles of Tewksbury and the late Claire E. (Burke) Boles. He was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and graduated Tewksbury Memorial High School.

He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army’s K-9 Forces, where he attained the rank of Sargent.

He worked as a truck driver for several area firms until illness forced his retirement last year.

He was also a member of the Fr. Coppen’s Council, 4336, Knights of Columbus in Tewksbury.

Besides his father, he is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Palen of Barnegat, N.J., Geraldine and her husband Eugene “Gino” Bergeron of Warren, MA; two nephews, Zachary Bergeron, and Sean Palen; a niece, Stacy Palen; two grand nephews, Sean Jr. and Tommy; and several aunts and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Mar. 27, in the funeral home. Following cremation, interment will be private.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.

Judith E. Sheeley

...Tewksbury Athletic Hall of Famer; 54

TEWKSBURY - Judith E. “Judy” (Baggs) Sheeley, age 54, a member of a well known Tewksbury family, died Friday morning, Mar. 26, at Brigham and Women’s Medical Center in Boston, after a long and gallant battle with cancer. She was the wife of Francis W. “Frank” Sheeley, who died on Jan. 21, 2000.

She was born in Chelsea, July 18, 1949, a daughter of Helen M. (Wickson) Baggs of Tewksbury and the late Frank H. Baggs. She lived the greater part of her life in Tewksbury and was graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School with the Class of 1967. During her elementary and high school years she was active in sports, and was honored in 1999 with induction into Tewksbury’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

She was formerly employed as a laboratory technician at Polaroid Co. in Waltham.

She was also a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in North Billerica.

Besides her mother, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bret W. and Joy A. (Maskasky) Sheeley of Shirley, Michael J. Sheeley of Tewksbury; one grandson, Khellen J. Sheeley; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Robert MacLeod of Billerica, Susan and Robert Connolly, Mary Kay and Robert Rauseo, Jane and Thomas Bradley all of Tewksbury, Pamela and Joseph Santa Fe of Sandown, NH; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Frank Baggs Jr., and his wife Pam (Nason) Baggs of Reading, Valerie Sheeley of Dracut; her mother-in-law, Janet E. (Riviere)Sheeley of Dracut; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Her Funeral Services were held Monday, Mar. 29, in St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, No. Billerica. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Memorials to the Lowe Center for Thorasic Oncology, Dana-Farber Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115, will be appreciated.

Helen L. Estee

...worked as Stuart’s, Goring’s, and J.M. Fields; 85

TEWKSBURY - Helen L. (Rose) Estee, age 85, a former worker at several area department stores, died Saturday evening, Mar. 27, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Estee Sr., who died in 1987.

She was born in Cambridge, Feb. 9, 1919, a daughter of the late Manuel and Josephine (Romano) Rose. She lived in Somerville the greater part of her life. She moved to Tewksbury in 1977.

She was employed as a sales Clerk at Goring’s department store in Somerville, J.M. Fields store in Somerville and later Stuart’s department store in Tewksbury.

She was a communicant of St. William’s Church.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph R. Jr., and his wife Penny (Egnitz) Estee, and Kenneth A. Estee and his fiancé Mary LaCava all of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Joseph P. and his wife Jaime (Bouvier) Estee of Stoughton and Heather M. Estee-Carpenter and her husband Mark Carpenter of Tewksbury; and one great granddaughter, Paige Carpenter.

She was also mother-in-law of the late Colleen (Dennis) Estee.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Mar. 31, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Memorials to the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, Alzheimer’s Fund, 10 Erlin Terrace, Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.

Charles W. Mulley

..retired from Lucent; WWII Veteran; 82

TEWKSBURY - Charles W. Mulley, age 82, a retired Lucent technician and union activist, died Saturday afternoon, Mar. 27, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Sears) Mulley, with whom he would have celebrated a 62nd wedding anniversary on May 1st.

He was born in Chelsea, Oct. 4, 1921, the son of the late Rev. Wilfred Mulley and Mary (Butt) Mulley. He was raised in the Chelsea and Everett area and was graduated from Everett High School. He had lived in Tewksbury since 1990.

During WWII, he served in the Army Air Force, in England, as a ground support crew radio technician.

Upon discharge, he began work at Western Electric. He retired from Lucent Technologies after 42 years of service as an electronic technician. He was active in the Communication Workers of America union, and had served as vice-president of Local 1395. He had also worked as a carpenter at the telephone company, and later worked as a freelance carpenter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Helen L. Mulley of Tewksbury; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Joanna (Bonito) Mulley of Marlboro; four grandchildren, Joy Maynard of Millbury, William Mulley of GA, Lisa Fernandes of Marlboro, Tracy Weed of Warwick, MA; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Allen of Reading, Mary Perry of IL, Marjorie Ross of FL, Eileen McDougle of CA; and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Mar. 31, in the funeral home. Interment with Air Force honors was at St. Mary’s cemetery in No. Tewksbury.

Josephine Errera

...’dipper’ at Mrs. Nelson’s Candy House; 94

TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Josephine (LaBella) Errera, age 94, a former chocolatier, died Sunday, Mar. 28, at Wingate at Andover nursing care facility, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of the late John V. Errera, who died in 1975.

She was born in Boston, Feb. 9, 1910, the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (SanFilipio) LaBella. She was raised in Boston’s North End, and lived the greater part of her life in Medford. She had lived in Tewksbury for the past 48 years.

In her earlier years, she was employed by NECCO candy manufacturers in Cambridge, and later worked as a chocolate dipper at Mrs. Nelson’s Candy House in Chelmsford.

She was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and a casual visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John V. Errera Jr. of Hollywood, FL, Leonard J. and his wife Gail (Bourgeois) Errera of Tewksbury; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lucy LaBella of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Leonard J. Errera Jr. of CT, Kathleen M. Sturges of CO; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also mother of the late Marianne Errera; foster mother of two; and sister of the late Albert and Anthony LaBella.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Apr. 2, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.

Judith A. Baluta

...auto accident in Lee, NH; formerly of Lowell and Tewksbury; 59

TEWKSBURY - Judith A. “Judy” (Darisse) Baluta, age 59, died Tuesday afternoon at the Exeter Hospital in NH, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the day, on Route 125 in Lee, NH. There were no other injuries in the single car accident.

She was born in Lowell, March 9, 1945, a daughter of Margaret (Arnold) Darisse of Nashua, NH, and the late Albert Darisse. She was raised in Lowell, and attended Lowell High School. She lived the greater part of her life in the greater Lowell and Tewksbury communities, before moving to Pelham two years ago.

Besides her mother she is survived by seven children and their spouses, Christine Ferreira of Freedom, NH, Kathleen and her husband Gregory Bean of Pelham, NH, Cheryl Baluta of Lowell, Shannon Baluta of Pelham, NH, Barbara and her husband Ray Russler of Dracut, Jennifer Lessard of Lowell, Walter J. Jr, and his wife Colleen (Stewart) Baluta of Hudson, NH; six siblings, Albert and his wife Maureen Darisse of NH, Donald Darisse of NH, Sandra and her husband Fred McKenzie of Dracut, Margaret “Peggy” and her husband Dave MacDonald of Tewksbury, John “Jack” and his wife Nina Darisse of NH, Harold “Kenney” and his wife Diane Darisse of Lowell; nine grandchildren; Sarah, R. Michael, and Shane Ferreira, William and Jacob Bean, Ryan and Philip Shea Jr, Nichole and Jessica Baluta; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the former wife of Walter J. "Buddy" Baluta of Center Ossipee, NH.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, April 3, in St. Monica’s Church, Methuen.Following cremation, interment will be private.

Memorials to the American Diabetes Asson., 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101 will be appreciated.

Robert L. Fletcher

...retired owner of Fletcher Plumbing Company; 72

BILLERICA - Robert L. Fletcher, age 72, the former owner of a Billerica plumbing company, died, Friday morning, April 2, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Whiffen) Fletcher, with whom he had celebrated a 51st wedding anniversary this past December 23rd.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 18, 1931, a son of Raymond and Emma (McDaniel) Fletcher. He was raised in Virginia. He lived in Boston the greater part of his life, and moved to Billerica 26 years ago.

He enlisted into the U.S. Navy upon graduation from High School, and served on the U.S.S. Salem during the Korean War.

He was self employed as the owner of Fletcher Plumbing Company in Billerica. He was an avid golfer, and held the distinction of having two hole-in-one shots during his golfing career.

Besides his wife, he is survived by ten children and their spouses, Edward T. and his wife Agnes (Smart) Fletcher of Milton, Linda J. Fletcher, Jeanne M. and her husband Thomas Quintiliani, Alan D. Fletcher all of Tewksbury, Patricia A. and her husband Rudolph “Rudy” Ogden of Tyngsboro, Donna M. Ellis and her finac Greg Mirabile of Braintree, Cheryl A. and her husband Kevin McQuaid of Derry, NH, Robert L. Fletcher Jr. of Billerica, Sandra L. and her husband Robert MacIver, Steven M. and his wife Kelly (Moreira) Fletcher all of Wilmington; twenty grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Eva (Deveau) Whiffen of Boston; three sisters, Patsy Anderson, Vivian and her husband Dave Whitted, and Barbara Chandler all of VA; a brother, Alvin “Duka” and his wife Gladys Fletcher of VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also brother of the late Edward Fletcher, Shirley Moody, Raymond “Jack” Fletcher, Jean Hester, and Lorraine Barbee.

His funeral service was held Tuesday, April 6, in the Funeral Home. Interment with Navy honors was at Tewksbury Cemetery.

Ruth J. Ringwood

TEWKSBURY - Ruth J. (Fuller) Ringwood, age 77, a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, died Saturday morning, April 3, at Genesis Westford House, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of Edward J. Ringwood Sr., who died in 1989.

She was born in Malden, April 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Irving and Gladys (Jordan) Fuller. She was raised in Malden, but had lived in Tewksbury for almost 50 years.

She will be remembered as having devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Retired Tewksbury P.D. Detective Paul R. and his wife Catherine “Sissy” (Doherty) Ringwood of Tewksbury, Edward J. Ringwood Jr. of Tyngsboro, John I. and his and his wife Maryjane (Silliker) Ringwood of Rockport; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and her husband Richard Bottis of Fountain Valley, CA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Edna Harnden of Saugus, Dorothy and her husband Miller Tinsley of TN; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Her funeral service was held Tuesday, April 6, in the Funeral Home. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Catherine M. Prebensen

Catherine M. Prebensen ...of Tewksbury, St. William’s Parish; 72

TEWKSBURY - Catherine M. (Lawlor) Prebensen, 72, died peacefully, Monday, March 4, at Saints Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Prebensen who died in 1989.

She was born in Cambridge, Dec. 11, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Finn) Lawlor. She was raised in Cambridge, but had lived in Tewksbury since 1955.

Mrs. Prebensen was a communicant of St. William’s Parish, who devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by two sons, Harold L. Prebensen Jr. of Natick, Dennis M. Prebensen of Stratford, CT, two daughters, Catherine M. Prebensen of Tewksbury, Eileen A. Prebensen of Lexington, four grandchildren, Mary Catherine Bongiovi, Robert Edward Bongiovi, Grace Elinor Bongiovi, Jennifer Prebensen, a brother and sister-in-law, Edward J. and Carol (Pasquarello) Lawlor of Cambridge, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Ethel Prebensen of Cape Cod, and Leonard and Dorothea Saunders of NH, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also mother of the late Teresa F. Prebensen who died in 1997.

Her Funeral Mass was held Thursday, March 7, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Memorials to the S.M.M.C., Dialysis Unit c/o Foundation Office, P.O. Box 367 Lowell, MA 01853-0367 will be appreciated.

Michael Sala

...Surburban Propane employee; 51

BRATTLEBORO, VT - Michael R. Sala, 51, a former resident of Tewksbury, died unexpectedly at his Brattleboro home on Monday, March 4.

He was born in Somerville, Mass., the son of Guido and Elizabeth L. (McDonald) Sala of Boynton Beach, Fla. He was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School.

He enlisted into the Navy, and served during the Vietnam War, aboard the U.S.S. Guam.

Upon discharge, he worked for several area trucking companies, most recently as a propane gas deliveryman for Suburban Propane based in Marlboro, Mass.

Besides his parents, he is survived by twin children, Tiffani and Tony Sala, both of Tewksbury, son Lee Steele of Lowell, two sisters, Claire Ayer of Essex, Mass., and Christine Nagle of Nashua, NH, a nephew, Timothy Ayer of Essex, two nieces, Alana and Stephanie Nagle of Nashua, NH, and his dear friend Lorraine Nici of Brattleboro, VT, and several aunts and uncles.

Following cremation, a graveside service was held Thursday, March 21, in the Veterans Lot at Tewksbury Cemetery.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
