TEWKSBURY Caroline (Fantini) Secchiaroli, age 82, died Tuesday afternoon, July 29, at the Genisis Westford House after suffering a stroke two weeks ago. She was the wife of George Secchiaroli, who died in 1982.

She was born in Tewksbury, Sept. 17, 1920, a daughter of the late Frank and Dora (Bibbiani) Fantini. She was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, and graduated Tewksbury High School.

She was employed in electronic assembly for Honeywell and Compugraphic companies, and also worked summers at her daughter’s restaurants in Connecticut for the last 15 years.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and George Kanabis of CT, Diana and Joseph Donlan of Dunstable, a son, George Secchiaroli Jr. of Tewksbury, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Celia and Leroy “Red” Thing, Narcissa and Clarence Hodges all of Tewksbury, Florence Ayer of VT, five grandchildren, George Secchiaroli III of Lowell, Dean Secchiaroli of Haverhill, Jodi Donlan of Dunstable, Angela Kanabis and Debra Kanabis both of NYC, one great grandson William Rizzo, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also grandmother of the late Christina Donlan. and sister of the late Dorothy Gallant, George Fantini, Ted Fantini, and Frances Fantini.

Her Funeral Mass was held Thursday, July 31, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Oblate Fathers Infirmary Fund, P.O. Box 419, Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.

Stephen J. Buckley

...retired from Raytheon, Plaza Limousine; 59

TEWKSBURY - Stephen J. Buckley, age 59, a well known member of the community, died Saturday morning, Aug. 3, at Saints Memorial Hosiptal after a six month battle with cancer. He was the husband of Diane M. (Moreira) Buckley, with whom he had celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary this past June 11th.

He was born in Boston, Feb. 11, 1944, a son of the late John and Hellen (Gladyzak) Buckley. He was raised in Medford, and had lived in Somerville before moving to Tewksbury in 1977.

He was employed in the materials department at Raytheon’s West Andover manufacturing facility until disability forced his retirement. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Waltham Local 1505. He had also worked for many years for Plaza Limousine company of Lowell/Tewksbury as a driver.

He was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge, 2070, and a communicant of St. William's Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Christine and Connie Walsh of Tyngsboro, a son and daughter, Shawn and Robin (Carter) Buckley of Pelham, NH, a brother, Michael Buckley of Malden, his late sons fiancé, Stephanie Swiniarski of Pelham, NH, his mother - in-law Mary (Costa) Moreira of Cambridge, seven grandchildren, Daryelle, Amber, Shane, Braylynn and Kaitlyn Buckley, Austin and Dilynn Walsh.

He was also father of the late Mark S. Buckley, who died on June 27, 2003, brother of the late Elizabeth Robinson, and son in law of the late Edward Moreira, who died on July 15, 2003.

His Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Aug. 6, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701, will be appreciated.

Francis "Tan" Mills

...retired from Tyer Rubber (Converse); 95

TEWKSBURY - Francis Nason “Tan” Mills, age 95, one of Tewksbury longest living residents, died Thursday, July 24, at the Willow Manor nursing care facility in Lowell after a brief illness. He was the husband for more than 50 years of Marion C. (Monahan) Mills, when she died in 1982.

He was born in Lowell, July 6, 1908, a son of the late George W. and Maud F. (Cowdrey) Mills. He spent many happy days growing up in the towns of Westford and Billerica. He lived the greater part of his life on Marshall Street in Tewksbury, and in later years was a resident at Carnation Drive senior housing in Tewksbury.

In his earlier years, he worked in the greenhouses of Tewksbury. Later, he worked as a lathe operator for the Tyre Rubber Company in Andover, which became Converse Rubber Company. He also worked part time at “Happy Helen’s Dine and Dance, ” which later became Tonello’s Restaurant on Main Street in Tewksbury.

He is survived by two daughters Lorraine and her husband William Goad, and Beverly Donohue all of Lowell; a son-in-law Edward Donahue of Lowell; a son, A. Roy Mills of Tyngsboro; a brother, Harold Mills of Tewksbury, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was also brother of the late Florence Burgess and grandfather of the late Gary R. Goad.

His funeral was held Monday, July 28, in the funeral home. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Lawrence J. Gunning

...retired Boston Firefighter; Engine 4, Cambridge St.; 81

TEWKSBURY - Lawrence J. Gunning, age 81, died Monday, Aug. 4, at his Tewksbury residence following a 1 year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Sally-Lee (Walsh) Gunning, with whom he had celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary this past June 22nd.

He was born in Boston, March 11, 1922, a son of the late Robert J. and Margaret (St. George) Gunning. He was raised in East Boston, and had lived in North Andover, before moving to Tewksbury in 1975.

During WWII, he served in the U.S.M.C., and served in the South Pacific. He was a 50 year member of the East Boston American Legion Post 30.

He retired from the Boston Fire Department in 1981, after 33 years of service. He was assigned to many stations, but the majority of his time was assigned to Engine Company 4 on Cambridge Street in downtown. He was a member of the Boston Firefighters Association, Local 718.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Keith Gunning of Maine, three sisters, Rosemary Crosier of Dalton, Loretta Cole of Wilmington, Barbara Salamone of Tewksbury, a brother Robert Gunning of Calif., and 2 grandchildren.

He was also brother of the late Walter Gunning.

His Funeral Mass is Thursday, Aug. 7, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Middlesex East V.N.A., 607 North Ave. Wakefield, MA 01880 will be appreciated.

...chef at Burlington Marriot Hotel; 65

TEWKSBURY - Eladio S. Chinel, age 65, a well known member of the Philippine community, died Friday, Aug. 8, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after suffering an apparent heart attack at his Tewksbury home.

He was born in Sulat, Eastern Samar, Philippines, on March 14, 1938, a son of the late Castor and Teodora (Sumvilla) Chinel. He was raised in the Philippines, and emigrated to New York City in 1970. He moved to Tewksbury 6 years ago.

He was employed as a chef in many NYC and Boston area hotels, most recently the Burlington Marriot Hotel.

Since his move to Tewksbury he was a communicant of St. William’s Church.

He is survived by his wife Juliet V. (Villanueva) Chinel of N.Y.C., a son, Cristoper Chinel of N.Y.C., a daughter, Marissa Pabon of the Philippines, eight grandchildren, Nino, Michael, Christian, Elado III, Edmar, Joy, Jovelyn and Mia Luteria. eight brothers and sisters, Ester Olfindo, Editha Sabandeja, Odencio Chinel, Martino Chinel, Juan Chinel, Helaria Chinel, Donato Chinel, and Claudio Chinel all of the Philippines, and many friends in the NYC and Massachusetts Philippino community.

He was also brother of the late Alejandro Chinel. His Fuuneral Mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 12, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Following cremation, interment will be in the Philippines.
