Albert Minty

WORCESTER - Albert Minty, 82, of 316 Colony Lane, Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly of 67 Cedar Rd., Holden died Saturday June 21, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, 20 Worcester Center Boulevard.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Margaret F. (Dick) Minty; a son, Gordon Minty of Terre Haute, Indiana; two daughters, Anita M. Prunier of Kingsland, Georgia and Janet M. Shirazi of Worcester; eight grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Another son, Michael K. Minty died before him. He was born and raised in Swansea, Wales, son of Albert and Margaret (Davis) Minty and lived in Leicester and Holden before moving to Hendersonville in 1985.

Mr. Minty was a metal finisher for Spencer Plating Co., many years and then owned and operated the company several years before retiring in 1985. He was a British Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Minty was a member of the Hendersonville Lodge of Elks and was a member and past president of the New England Chapter of the American Master Metal Finishers Association.

The funeral service and burial will be private in Shepard Memorial Park, Hendersonville. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701. Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester is directing funeral arrangements.

Brother of Meredith Hartery of Portsmouth, NH. Grandson of Helene Sullivan of Hull and the late James J. Sullivan of Holbrook, Paul X. and the late Theresa Hartery of Holbrook. Also survived by several cousins and many friends.
Visiting hours Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Funeral Mass Tuesday morning in St. Ann Church, Hull at 11 AM.

Interment at Hull Village Cemetery, Hull.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE is being planned at a later date to be held in Crystal Lake, IL .

Michael J. Hartery 21, of Crystal Lake, IL died Thursday June 5, 2003 of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Lake County. He was born in California. He was a graduate of Crystal Lake South High School. He loved to work on fast cars and motorcycles. He was attending Universal Technical Institute School of Auto Mechanics in Glendale Heights, IL to become an auto technician. He also enjoyed boats, water sports, and photography. His favorite pastime was spending time with his many friends.

Donovan in Whitman March 25, 2002 Mary E. Loving mother of Domenica C. Donovan of Whitman. Beloved daughter of the late James and Rita C. (Charette)(Donovan). Sister of James L. Donovan of Weymouth, Dennis M. Donovan of Barnstable, Mark S. Donovan President of Whitman Burial Vault Co. of Hanson, and the late Joseph Donovan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A blessing will take place in the Holy Ghost Church on Thursday at 11 AM. Visiting will be 1 hour before the blessing in the MacKinnon Funeral Home.Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Interment at Cedar Grove cemetery in Dorchester. A pro-burial mass will be celebrated at a later date.

Fletcher, Jr. of Whitman member of the Whitman Fire Dept. Grandfather of Roland Fletcher II of Milton, Kara Larson and her husband Adam of Weymouth, Benjamin Fletcher of Whitman, and Gregory Fletcher and his wife Katie of Bridgewater. Great-grandfather of Claudia Rose Larson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours Sunday 4-8 Pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Funeral Mass Monday at 10 Am in Holy Ghost Church in Whitman.

Interment at St. James Cemetery, Whitman.

Guy N. Fletcher Sr. April 2, 2003 at age 81at his home in Whitman. Born in Cambridge and attended Cambridge Ringe & Latin School and U.S. Defense Supply Agency Combat Communications School in Washington, D.C.. He was a WW II Veteran and served under General Patton in the Battle of the Buldge European Theater with the 3rd armored tank division. He worked as a Supervisor of Shipbuilding U.S. Navy & Quality Control of Guided Missile Launching Systems at the Charlestown Navy Yard, South Boston Navy Yard, Beth Steel, and General Dynamics in Quincy, MA. Guy has lived in Whitman for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees and a lifetime member of D.A.V. Commanders Club. He was also a member of the Quincy Morrisett American Legion Post # 294. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Cape Cod Canal near the Mass. Maritime Academy.

William F. Fitzgerald

Worcester - William F. Fitzgerald, 77, of 1356 Pleasant Street, died Wednesday May 1, 2002 in UMASS - Memorial Healthcare, 119 Belmont Street after being stricken ill at home.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary A. (D'Angelo) Fitzgerald; fours sons, Robert M., & Russell E. Fitzgerald, both of Worcester, Thomas C. Fitzgerald of Auburn and John F. Fitzgerald of Holden; eight grandchilren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, twin Robert M. Fitzgerald of Fairfield, CA and Edward Fitzgerald of Auburn; a sister, Anna Flattery of Worcester. He was born in Worcester son of the late John and Ellen (McGahey) Fitzgerald. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and graduated from South High School.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a foreman in the mailroom at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette for many years, retiring 11 years ago. He was first hired at a stereotypist at the T & G.

He was a longtime member of The Church of Christ the King.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 9:00AM Saturday May 4th in The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - St. Ann, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Interment was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Joan T. Lanava
May 27, 2002

Worcester - Joan T. (Logan) Lanava, 86, of 66 Indiana Street died Monday, May 27th in Providence Extended Care Facility, 119 Providence St., after a long illness.

Her husband, Gaetano "Fred" Lanava predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by a son, Francis G. Lanava, with whom she made her home; three daughters, Joan V. Steele of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marie E. Iannotti of Amesbury and Virginia B. Floyd of Las Vegas, Nevada; Fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces & nephews; She was preceeded in death by a brother Victor Logan and two sisters, Helen Beauregard and Stella Bohenke. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Biblis) Logan and moved to Worcester many years ago. Mrs. Lanava graudated from Saint Mary's High School.

Mrs. Lanava was a communicant of The Church of Our Lady of Loreto.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Friday May 31st in The Church of Our Lady of Loreto, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will be in Saint John's Cemetery. A visiting hour is 9:30 - 10:45AM Friday May 31st at the funeral home.

Krishna Devi

Worcester - Krishna Devi, 69, of 108 Harrington Way, died Tuesday May 28th in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, after being stricken ill at home.

Her husband, Om Parkash died in 1982; She leaves three sons, Sham, Ashok and Tekchand Sharma, all of Worcester; brothers and sisters in India; many grandchildren; nieces & nephews; She was born in Punjab, India, daughter of the late Amar Nath and Yashoda Devi and moved to the United States 8 years ago.

A Private Funeral Service will be held Thursday in the Ellen Rogers Kennedy Chapel at The Rural cemetery & Crematory, 180 Grove Street. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date in India. There are no visiting hours. The Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home & Garden Chapel, (www.manzifuneralhome.com) 179 Shrewsbury St., is directing arrangements.

Thomas Simone
May 27, 2002

Worcester - Thomas Simone, 91, of 533 Massasoit Road, a retired business owner and award-winning horticulturist, died Monday, May 27, in Clark Manor Nursing Home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Hilary E. (Roszko) Simone; two sons, Thomas H. Simone of Paxton and Peter M. Simone of Philadelphia; two daughters, Phyllis E. Simone of West Tisbury and Francine A. Hughes of Fountain Hill, Ariz.; two brothers, Anthony and John Simone, both of Worcester; a sister, Mary Lalone of Worcester; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Rose Pierce and Angelina Buffone, predeceased him. He was born in Rocca D'Arce, Italy, son of Peter and Phyllis (Zambini) Simone, and moved to the United States as a child.

Mr. Simone founded and owned Hilary Landscape Service in 1942. He retired from the company, which is still run by the family, several years ago.

He was a founding member of the Worcester Gardeners Association, and was a participant in the Worcester Flower Show for many years. He was awarded the Alice Milton Medal by the Worcester Horticultural Society for his contribution to horticultural excellence in the region.

Mr. Simone donated and maintained the garden at Hope Lodge in Worcester for many years.

He was an avid chef, and enjoyed oil painting and golf. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and was a founding member of the Worcester County Landscape Gardeners Association. He was a member of the National Association of Gardeners, and was an honorary member of the Italian-American War Veterans Post 3. He was a member of the Grafton Hill Neighborhood Association and the Greendale Retired Men's Club.

The funeral will be held Friday, May 31, from Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home & Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Clark Manor Nursing Home, Alzheimer's Unit, 1350 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603 or the Alzheimer's Association, 919 North Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 6061.
