David W. Hunter, 66

Webster, Fla. - David W. Hunter, 66, a resident of Webster and former resident of East Dennis, died Sept. 15, 2000, at his home.

Born in Kingston, Mr. Hunter spent most of his life on the Cape, where he attended Barnstable schools and became a self-taught electronics technician. He owned and operated Telemarine TV of Dennisport for 25 years before retiring in 1992. He moved to Florida in 1994.

Mr. Hunter was a member of the Cape Cod Old Timers Softball League. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Goldwing motorcycle.

He is survived by his companion and friend, Iva Hatfield of Webster, Fla.; a son, Wayne D. Hunter of West Yarmouth; two daughters, Brenda Murphy of Nebraska and Lauri Hunter of Florida; two brothers, Paul Hunter of Dennisport and Irving Hunter of Yarmouthport; a sister, Isabelle Pendelton of Barnstable; his former wife, Wendy Hunter of Wildwood, Fla.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Alice Lunan, 90

Brewster - Alice (Shea) Lunan, 90, a longtime resident of Brewster, died Sept. 16, 2000, in Hyannis after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Kenneth Lunan, to whom she was married for 52 years prior to his death in 1983.

A resident of Weymouth for 65 years, Mrs. Lunan and her husband retired to Brewster in 1975. She was a member of the first class entering Sacred Heart School in 1915 and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1927.

She worked for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services for many years, both in Weymouth and in Hyannis.

Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Fulton of Norwell, Claire Bennett of Plymouth and Adele Vandenburgh of Providence, R.I.; a sister, Kathleen Shea Timilty of South Yarmouth; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Christopher J. Murphy, 36

Medfield - Christopher John Murphy, 36, who summered in Hyannis Park, died Sept. 15, 2000, after a car accident near his home in Medfield.

He was the husband of Tracy Ann (Luttazi) Murphy.

Born in Scituate, Mr. Murphy was raised in Scituate, where he lived for 27 years. He lived in Medfield for the past eight years and summered in Hyannis Park.

A graduate of Boston College High School, he also graduated from Boston College in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He received a master's degree in business administration from Anna Maria College.

He was the owner and president of Third Cliff Waterproofing Inc. in Medfield.

During his college days at Boston College, he played football in the Tangerine Bowl, Liberty Bowl and Cotton Bowl.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the Boston College Football Alumni Association, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and the Hyannis Marina.

He was the assistant football coach at Boston College High School. He enjoyed boating on Lewis Bay and around the islands, traveling, movies and spending time with his family. He was also a history buff.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate and Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouthport.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, Peter Joseph Murphy; his stepmother, Dorothy M. Murphy; four brothers, Navy Cmdr. Peter D. Murphy, Dr. Kevin R. Murphy, William J. Murphy and Sean P. Murphy; a sister, Elizabeth A. Murphy; a niece; and a nephew.

Salvatore 'Sam' Roccosalvo, 80

Hyannis - Salvatore "Sam" Roccosalvo, 80, a resident of Hyannis, died Sept. 18, 2000, at the Hospice House in Barnstable after a long illness.

He was the husband of Lillian (Geraci) Roccosalvo since 1946.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Roccosalvo lived there until age 5 when he moved to New York City. After high school, he volunteered his services to the Marines during World War II.

After the war, he settled for a short time in New York City before moving to Queens, N.Y., where he lived for 32 years. During that time, he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in the New York City office.

He retired in 1980, and in 1982 he moved to Hyannis, after having summered on the Cape for several years.

Mr. Roccosalvo was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church and a daily communicant and rosary leader at the noontime daily Mass.

Surviving besides his wife are two brothers, Joseph Roccosalvo of Holbrook, N.Y., and John Roccosalvo of New York City; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret B. Bredin, 93

Centerville - Margaret Baird Bredin, 93, a resident of Centerville, died Oct. 4, 2000, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.

Her husband of 25 years, Robert J. Bredin, died in 1960.

Born and raised in Donegal, Northern Ireland, Mrs. Bredin came to the United States in 1929. She lived in Somerville for most of her life, where she was active at the College Avenue Methodist Church.

She worked at Harvard University in the Addressograph Department until her retirement in 1972.

Surviving are a son, Robert Bredin of Centerville; a brother, Frederick Baird of Donegal, Ireland; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of Kenneth Bredin, who died in 1982.

Louise A. 'Dale' Burlingame, 79

Cotuit - Louise A. "Dale" (Pike) Burlingame, 79, a lifelong Cape resident, died Oct. 1, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

She was the wife of the late Harold "Bud" Burlingame.

Mrs. Burlingame lived in Yarmouth for most of her life and in Cotuit during her later years. She was involved in many business enterprises including The Gulls and Buoys Restaurant at the Hyannis Marina, where she was a cook and manager, and Dale's Lunchwagon.

Mrs. Burlingame was a memorable performer in several of the Cotuit Variety Shows. She was also an avid craftsperson and was fond of cruise travel.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Rice of Jupiter, Fla.; three sons, Robert Burlingame of Cotuit, Bruce Burlingame of Jupiter, Fla., and Mark Burlingame of Hyannis; two sisters, Isabelle Burlingame of Phoenix, Ariz., and Genevieve Pierce of Carrolton, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Brian Burlingame.

Paul V. Cross, 85

South Yarmouth - Paul V. Cross, 85, a former construction company superintendent, died Oct. 1, 2000, at the Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth after a long illness.

He was the husband of the late Amelia G. (Morse) Cross.

Born in Osterville, Mr. Cross was a resident of South Yarmouth and previously lived in Yarmouthport. He was a 1934 graduate of St. John's Prep School in Andover and a 1938 graduate of Holy Cross College.

Mr. Cross was a World War II Navy veteran, honorably discharged as a lieutenant in 1945. He worked as a superintendent at Chandler Construction Co. in Hyannis for many years.

Surviving are two sisters, Anne F. Duplin and Mary K. O'Brien, both of Centerville; and several nieces and nephews.

Harvey V. Delapena, 68

Cotuit - Harvey V. Delapena, 68, a Cape resident since 1999, died Oct. 4, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was the husband of Joanne (Young) Delapena.

Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Delapena later lived in Harding Township, N.J. He was a graduate of Colgate University and New York University Graduate School.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Delapena was a senior vice president of the International Division for the Bank of New York and senior executive of Banesto Bank in New York City. He retired in 1999.

He was a member of the Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Club.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Stephen M. Delapena of Nashua, N.H., and Bradford S. Delapena of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Susan D. Cava of Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Mimi D. Turner of Chatham, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Rescue Squad, 1875 Route 28, Centerville, MA 02632.

Robert W. Drew (Peach), 72

Otisfield, Maine ­ Robert W. Drew (Peach), 72, died Oct. 5, 2000, at his home on Crooked River after a long illness.

He was the husband of Sheryl. L. Lurvey Drew.

Born in Hyannis, Mr. Drew was the son of Carl Drew and MaryAnne McIntyre. He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1946 and retired from AT&T in 1980. He had lived in Maine since 1973.

Mr. Drew served in World War II and the Korean conflict, where he earned the Purple Heart.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed keeping up with his grandchildren's sports activities. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and, most of all, spending time on Crooked River. He was known for his generosity and kindness.

Mr. Drew was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Anne Behlman Drew; a sister, Charlotte Brightman; and brothers Carl (Red) and Harold Drew.

He is survived by his six children, Bonnie Perry of Cotuit; Robert W. Drew Jr. of Lovell, Maine; Barry Drew of Buckfield, Maine; Donna Andrews of Lovell, Maine; Terri Drew of Kingston, N.H.; and Daniel Drew of Waterford, Maine; a brother, Norman Drew, of Clinton, Conn.; and six stepchildren, Christina Smittle of Arundel, Maine; Teri Staples of Kennebunk, Maine; Jennifer Lord of Lyman, Maine; Scott Staples of Gulf, N.C.; Stephanie Staples of Saco, Maine; and Stephen Staples of Biddeford, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Memorial services are scheduled tentatively for Oct. 28 at Oakdale Cemetery in Otisfield, Maine.

Rita F. Driscoll, 85

Centerville - Rita F. (O'Hearn) Driscoll, 85, died Oct. 5, 2000, at the Bethesda of Evanswood Nursing Home in Kingston after a short illness.

She was the wife of James W. Driscoll.

Mrs. Driscoll was born and educated in South Boston where she graduated from South Boston High School with the class of 1932.

She made her home in South Boston until moving to Centerville in 1975.

In South Boston, she was a member of the Gate of Heaven Guild, past grand regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, South Boston Chapter, past president of the Boston College High School Mothers Club and a member of St. Vincent dePaul Church.

In Centerville, Mrs. Driscoll was a member of the Emblem Club, the Irish American Club, Cape Cod Chapter, of which she was founder and past president, an active volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program, and a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.

Besides her husband of 60 years, Mrs. Driscoll is survived by two sons, Ronald F. Driscoll of Hingham, and Richard M. Driscoll of Boston; a daughter, Geraldine P. Thomson of Scituate; two sisters, Mary Siegle of Whitman and Sister Elizabeth O'Hearn, CSJ, of Brighton; and three grandchildren.
