Joseph E. Pelton, 73

Rutland, Vt. - Joseph E. Pelton, 73, a resident of Rutland and formerly of Barnstable, died July 15, 2002, at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston after an illness.
He was the husband of Mary V. (Rasku) Pelton for 45 years.
Born in West Barnstable, Mr. Pelton graduated from Barnstable High School. He lived in Osterville for 25 years and then several years in Danbury, Conn., before moving to Rutland in 1993.
Mr. Pelton was a carpenter. He was a member of the West Barnstable Laestadian Lutheran Church in West Barnstable and the Rutland Historical Society. He enjoyed fishing and woodcarving.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a nephew, Ivar Moore of Centerville.
A funeral was held at the Miles Funeral Home in Holden. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

Marion Howard Ross, 91

Osterville - Marion Howard Ross, 91, a longtime summer resident of Osterville, died July 14, 2002, in Naples, Fla.
She was the wife of Herbert F. Ross, who died in 1988. They were married in 1934.
Born in Malden, Mrs. Ross graduated from Wheaton College. She spent most of her married life in Winchester. Beginning in 1956, the Rosses spent summers at their home on Parker Road. They were active members of the Wianno Club.
In 1960, she and her husband moved to Lausanne, Switzerland, where he opened an international division of the United Shoe Machinery Corp. For three years, Mrs. Ross accompanied her husband on his business travels in Europe and South America. After his retirement, they wintered in Naples.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Ross of Washington , D.C., and Martha Ross Bash of Chicago; a son, William A. Ross of Norwalk, Conn., and Jupiter, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Plymouth.

Kenneth F. Corcoran, 88

Osterville - Kenneth F. Corcoran, 88, a resident of Osterville, died Oct. 9, 2002, at Hospice in Barnstable.
He was the husband of Sandra Corcoran.
Born in Brockton, Mr. Corcoran graduated from Georgetown University in 1936. He lived on John's Island, Vero Beach, Fla., from 1970 to 2002. Most recently, he had spent six months a year in Osterville and six months a year in Vero Beach.
During World War II, Mr. Corcoran served as a captain in the Army.
He was president of Corcoran Shoe Co. in Stoughton and president of Corcoran Inc., a mail order business, retiring in 1968.
An avid golfer, he was five times in the U.S. Amateurs and was a member of the Oyster Harbors Club and the Wianno Club.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Kenneth Corcoran Jr.; a daughter, Constance Corcoran Miller; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville, with burial in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Doris Davies, 96

Centerville - Doris (McLure) Davies, 96, of Centerville died Nov. 26, 2002, at Cape Cod Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Davies.
Mrs. Davies was born in New Castle, Pa. She taught preschool for many years. She was a member of West Parish of Barnstable, United Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia White of Centerville, with whom she made her home, and Judith Matthews of Erie, Pa.; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Katonah, N.Y. A service of remembrance will be held at West Parish of Barnstable at a later date.

Nancy J. Fenton, 70

Southwick - Nancy J. (Savage) Fenton, 70, a resident of Southwick who leaves family on Cape Cod, died Nov. 28, 2002, at home.
She was the wife of Eugene "Gene" Fenton of Southwick.
Born in Hyannis, Mrs. Fenton was a graduate of Barnstable High School. She was a resident of Southwick for 44 years.
She was also a member of the Southwick Republican Town Committee, active with the town's Cub Scout program and a volunteer at Noble Hospital in Westfield. For the past 15 years, she was a Southwick cemetery commissioner.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Michael Fenton of Agawam and Eugene H. Fenton of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Virginia Dolan of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Howard Savage of New York City; three sisters, Charlotte Bourne of Hyannis, Sydney Almand of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Betsy Burke of Fort Walton, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
She was also the mother of Todd Fenton, who died in 1980, and Scott Fenton, who died in August.

Edward J. Montville, 83

Hyannis - Edward J. Montville, 83, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 22, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Irene M. (Martinelli) Montville.
Born in Providence, R.I., he lived in Hyannis for the past 25 years.
He worked for IBM as a tool and die maker and a cost analyst in engineering for 25 years, until retiring in 1977.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
Besides his wife, survivors include three nieces; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mark's Garden City in Cranston, R.I. Burial was in Pawtuxet Memorial Park in Warwick, R.I.

Ronald E. Read, 64

Hyannis - Ronald E. Read, 64, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 26, 2002, at his home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Frances Jean (Duchesney) Read for 42 years.
Mr. Read was born in Orlando, Fla., and moved to Cape Cod in 1960. He worked for Blackburn's Auto Salvage in Hyannis as manager for 32 years.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Ronald E. Read Jr. of Yarmouth; two daughters, Terry Meadows of Hyannis and Tammy Sanderson of Yarmouth; a brother, Joseph A. Read of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Sarah Martin of Apapha, Fla., Mona Evans of Havana, Fla. and Ruby Scott of York, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Madeline L. Rebello, 72

Hyannis - Madeline L. Rebello, 72, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 25, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness.
Miss Rebello was born in New Bedford and was a graduate of Fairhaven High School. She lived in Hyannis for many years.
She was formerly employed as a secretary for the U.S. State Department in Washington , D.C., until her retirement.
Survivors include a sister, Natalie Hurley of Fairhaven; two brothers, Harvey Rebello of Mechanicsville, Va., and Gilbert Rebello of Long Beach, Calif.; two half brothers, Ray Faria of Cape Cod and Perry Faria of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett, with burial following in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Douglas E. Robbins, 75

Hyannis - Douglas E. Robbins, 75, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 24, 2002, at The Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Jean (Arthur) Robbins, who died in 1980.
Mr. Robbins was an 11th generation Cape Cod native.
He was a former employee of the Yarmouth Highway Department and Robert Childs Inc.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan Clark of Mashpee, Marsha Guarcello of Cotuit and Patricia Pinkham of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a son, Douglas A. Robbins of South Yarmouth; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mae Smith, 88

Cotuit - Mae (Paul) Smith, 88, a resident of Cotuit, died Nov. 27, 2002, at her home after a long illness.
She was the wife of John W. Smith of Cotuit.
Born and raised in Carver, Mrs. Smith moved to Cotuit in the early 1950s. She worked as a food handler at Shaw Hall and Twining Hall at Otis Air Force Base, and as an inspector in motels in Florida and on Cape Cod.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Norman A. Paul of Pawtucket, R.I.; two sisters, Edith Burgo and Dorothy Joseph, both of New Bedford; two brothers, Robert Paul and David Barrows, both of Hyannis; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held in John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills, with burial in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
